Everything about Maverick Pierce is excessive. His size. His wealth. His grumpy disposition. Not to mention the impenetrable armor he’s built around his heart. But Violet Hayes, a firecracker with curves for days and ribbons in her hair, is about to put a crack in Maverick’s armor. And once the armor is gone, there’s no going back. He’s going to claim her relentlessly, and claim her for good— devoted, protective, and obsessed for the rest of their lives.
Dear Reader, He’s a growly alpha male. She's his future queen. Their love story is bursting with instalove, sweetness, and steam. Age gap? Check. Dirty talk? Check. Swoony happily-ever-after? Extra-extra-large check. xo, Kate
The hero rescues our curvy heroine from a bad situation, and she ends up losing her job. He then hired and helps her, they bonk and the rest is predictable.
I think the sister in 10 Things I Hate About You was on to something. You can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed but can you just be whelmed? This book was that feeling. It was just kind of meh...
Maverick and Violet were totally fine. The instalove was fine. And even the naughty bits were fine.
It was just fine and sometimes that is enough. Honestly, there were so many opportunities here with so much open room to fill in the plot with feelings or emotions and it just wasn't there.
Anyway, yeah. Read it or don't, you won't be disappointed but you're not going to be left reeling for days either.
My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

Maverick owns a security company with his brother, he is a really big guy, but a real gentle giant, especially where Violet is concerned. They meet at her second job at the bar, Maverick is interested from first glance but feels she to young for him. When a customer come on to her Maverick tells him to stop. The customer doesn’t like it and gets Violet fired. Feeling guilty Maverick offers her a job helping around his house. He offers her an advance in salary to help pay her mom’s bills. But the mom losses the money gambling and Violet is distraught. Maverick finds her crying and comforting her leads to sexy times. The next morning he whisks her off to Fiji. I love yous and epilogues four years later with a daughter and her delivering a son. Her mom doing better and twenty years later with more kids.

This was a cute and sweet instalove romance. I enjoyed our characters and their love story. Reading about Maverick trying to fight his feelings for Violet was a good time. I love reading about men reaching their breaking points and going after their woman. Also, we were given plenty of epilogues to see how they lived. All in all, a good read!
Book: XXL Genre: Romance, Erotica Trope: GrumpyxSunshine? Age Gap, Insta Love My rating: 2/5⭐️ MCS: Maverick Pierce & Violet Hayes
Violet is getting a second job as a waitress at a bar. A few nights into the job, Maverick & his brother come into the bar for Mavericks birthday. His waitress is Violet. Immediately they have an instant connection to each other. But that same night when a guy grabs her ass he tells the guy to back off and he complains which makes her lose her new job already. He feels it’s his fault and offers her a job as his assistant.
This book was only 86 pgs so it was a super quick to read. Probably took me an hourish. But with that said the book in my opinion had no substance. The sex scenes were good but besides that, they met, had an instant connection all of a sudden are together and are so in love. It felt as though I missed something but nope that was just the story. I just wasn’t a fan. I’m not a huge hater of insta love like everyone else but this was just too quick for me. But that being said if you want a super quick read with some smut then sure maybe you’ll like it.
XXL is was quick, semi slow burn romance. I say that because it does take about halfway through before any feelings get known, recognized and sought out. But once it did, all bets were off and the insta romance showed up and showed out. And if you are a fan of over the top men in romance reads, then you will be in for a treat as well.
I enjoyed this new to me author and this super quick read. Will definitely be looking into more of her books. 5 Stars!
It was everything the blurb listed: instalove, grumpy/sunshine plus sized-ish romance. The characters were okay. You don't really get a full understanding of their characters since it is a short story. There wasn't a big problem for them to overcome so it was a lighter read which is appreciated in tough times.
The problems I had were with some of their situations. Like why did she sit on his lap at the pub? That seems like a weird thing to force the waitresses to do. Why was she fired on the spot because one guy complained? She would have to have been pretty bad to be fired like that when they are packed. Also the uniform situation: if you are at least a X-large, medium shorts aren't going to fit, the shirt maybe, but it'll be tight. But for the bottoms it won't be a sexy tight, so it makes me wonder how "plus sized" the h is. The money the mom needs; does she still live at home? Does the mom not work & why trust her with the money? Then when she blows the large sum, think its okay to ask for another loan? Then in both the epilogue's ( I hate more than & don't know why this has become a thing), the timeline seems off. Junie seems like she's at least 4, but apparently she was 3. After having 3 kids who are pretty smart, I don't remember any of them being that eloquent at 3. But in the second epilogue, she's only 3 years older than her brother. The H turns 65 in the second one, but can still perform multiple times a day and the h who is 15-20 years younger still has the same sexual prowess. These aren't big things, but they add up to being pretty annoying that they weren't sorted by someone before the publish button was hit. I'm glad it was free.
Sometimes we do what is needed when it comes to our parents as children, we only see the good times even when they mess up royally, we feel if it is in our power to help, we will. Violet is working two jobs librarian by day/waitress by night at the bar to help her mother keep her home since she is on the verge of losing it due to her gambling habit and working even when the most grumpy, sexiest man walks up to her bar. Maverick sexy as all get out billionaire who wants to just be left alone, he is alpha personified, possessive, oh, so gorgeous, brooding and when is brother drags him out on his birthday, he finds that the women working the bar is beautiful. The attraction is instant both can’t keep their eyes off the other yet they both discount the attraction because why would someone like him want a curvy woman working herself into the ground to help her mother and him why would someone so beautiful want a boring grump like him, but fate won’t have it any other way by him (not purposely) getting her fire she ends up working for him and the chemistry is dialed up by a million the more time they spend together it is intense the magnetic pull between them is getting to the point where neither of them can ignore it the more he wants to protect her, make her life easier starting with getting her mother some help, ensuring she continue to do what her heart loves but will it be enough, and can they find their own HEA without the burden of her mother’s problems?.

Romance trope: insta-love; she's the housekeeper Length: 86 pages
Plot: Maverick meets Violet at a Hooters-like club and thinks he won't ever see her again. She's working there to help her mom pay her mortgage and she gets fired right as Maverick is walking out. He hires her to be an assistant/housekeeper at his home and she accepts but doesn't understand his grumpiness. Finally, the truth comes out.
Commentary: Maverick was a little hard to understand - he was so grumpy all the time and it wasn't clear why other than he just didn't like people. Her mom was awful, letting her daughter pay for things, work herself to the bone, and then she took that money (that her daughter begged her employer for) and gambled it away. I wouldn't have asked a second time (and I know it's an addiction, but still I would be really irritated - and just done.
I list love stories such as this one... A Cinderella love story. Violet's father past away and her mother had coping problems which she tried solving by gambling. Her addiction was so bad, she was close to losing her home. Violet took a waitress job that required her to wear clothing two sizes smaller than normal but it just made her tips higher. Maverick and his brother stop at her workplace and she ends up being fired. Maverick offers her a job at three times the pay she made at the bar. Read how things go for Violet and Maverick with his illness, her mother's gambling and their feelings. Love the descriptions of the bar, the people, how big and tall Maverick is, his home and the scenery. I enjoyed this book a lot. Written by Cindy :)
Violet has started working in a bar, she's working two jobs to help her mother. Maverick is in the bar because that's where his brother wanted to go. He sees someone manhandling Violet and has a word with him, trouble is it backfires on Violet, she's sacked. Maverick is really attracted to her, although she's a lot younger than him, and he feels guilty that she lost her job because of him, so he offers her a job working for him. Does Violet take it? Will they get together?

This was a sweet story. Maverick and Violet are both extremely attracted to each other when they meet but both think the other wouldn’t want them. Maverick wants Violet safe and secure so he gives her a job when he inadvertently gets her fired. He is so attracted to her that he hides in his office to avoid her. Fate has other plans though. When the two admit their attraction to one another their lust combusts and there is no going back for either of them.
Safety and Spoilers Completely safe. No ow drama, om at her waitressing job is grabby and H doesn’t like it and confronts him. Guy complains and h is fired. Both are not virgins and have been celibate.
The grumpy Maverick and sunshine Violet couldn’t be more opposite in personality but they are perfectly matched together. Maverick is a bit of a grump who likes to stay away from people. Luckily his brother takes him out for his birthday so he can meet the lovely Violet. Circumstances cause him to offer her a job. That job allows them to spend time around each other which makes the growing attraction hard to ignore. Steamy sweetness follows these two and brings a beautiful ending. Great characters, plenty of sweet and steam, and a great ending make this book your next quick read.

#AgeGap #Billionaire #CurvyGirl #GrumpySunshine #InstaLove #Novella Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this standalone ends with a HEA. Violet is a young woman motivated to bail her mom out of trouble. Maverick is a loner and owner of a security firm. He meets Violet on his 40th birthday at the dive bar where she is working a second job. He is immediately smitten, though it takes him a little while to admit it to himself. I appreciated his generous heart and protective nature. I liked Violet’s spunk. Hot times were fun in part because Maverick is such a giant. This was a sweet, steamy, insta-love good time.
Wonderful Story! This is about Maverick and Violet. Violet starts working a second job at a bar to help her mother out. Maverick is at the bar celebrating his birthday with his younger brother when he gets a surprise when Violet brings him a cake and sits on his lap. He then sees another patron getting handsy with her and approaches him and of course, she ends up losing her job! The story takes a turn after that and it is great - love the story and most importantly the ending!.

This was a nice read. Maverick Pierce is a big man. His brother just happens to pick a random bar. It also happens to be his birthday too. He doesn't like attention on himself.
Violet Hayes is just trying to help her mother out. This curvy woman is one heck of a woman. When she gets fired here comes Maverick. He offers her a job.
Things from there gets spicy 🌶🌶. Maverick is one alpha male. The sexual chemistry between them is 💥💥. The two epilogues were great.
Maverick is celebrating his 40th birthday when he manages to get his waitress fired and, tributo make it up to her by offering her a job. Violet is a fierce and independent girl, trying to pay for her mother’s mistakes when she meet the huge, grumpy costumer at her waitressing gig. An instalove romance between two strong and independent people that didn’t realized they need to care and being cared for until meeting up.
This was an okay book.. The writing is simple and it's extremely short book! It was a cute love at first sight type of story. My only complaint is how unrealistic the story was.. who tells their person they love each other the second day they are together? It's hard to believe that can be real.. and I also dont feel like the author described the characters very well so it was hard to imagine them.
A short but really cute escape between a librarian and security firm owner. Opposites and yet they complete each other in the best of ways. She brings out a softer side of him that no one else could and he gives her what she's always wanted a great love. I have to say that I was expecting Maverick to be a little more grumpy but the story still delivered. The epilogues are a nice peek into the future too.
I had big, no pun intended, hopes for this story but it sadly didn't come anywhere close to what I was hoping for. Most of the time, I need the FMC to be smarter than the one in this story. I know it was supposed to be a short story and things needed to move at a much faster pace, but I had some significant issues with the plot. This is probably why I abhor instalove stories. TBH, I couldn't finish it. The whole money situation was too much for me to overlook. This one went into my DNF pile.
I really enjoyed reading this story. The things people do for the ones they love, like getting another job. She meets a big guy and is attracted to him. He falls hard and fast for her. Everything about them falling in love is fast. But when you know, why slow down. Get the Bonus Scene, it was a fun read. Loved the epilogues. They were sweet and happy.
This short story has a grump who is really lovely and a woman who does not let life get her down, I liked getting to know Violet and Maverick, seeing them get to know each other and give in to their feelings. It moves along quickly, has good connection and chemistry and has a nice HEA.

This was a sweet instalove romance. I liked the storyline and the grumpy/ sunshine romance theme. The story was short but well written and had both heart and steam. Violet and Maverick had good chemistry and I liked their story.

Great short story. Only one thing with that happened and I saw it coming a mile away (too bad the heroine didn’t either) which had to do with one trope that is so not my fave trope in romances. And nothing to do with the couple but the individual character and the person/people in their lives. Still enjoyed the story.
I will definitely check out more of the author’s work.
