Summer has arrived in Wildwood Heath, and with it comes the town's annual carnival and its accompanying flower contest. Robin is confident that her mother's roses will once again take the top prize and is content to spend her free time reconnecting with her father after the years they've spent apart, but a distraction arrives in the form of a customer being poisoned to death at the local coffee shop.
Unfortunately for Robin, the poisoning happens right in front of her and her dad… and her cousin, Rowan, whose job at the coffee shop soon lands her at the top of the suspect list.
To complicate matters, the head of the investigation is none other than Robin's brother, Ramsey, who little expects his first interaction with his unwillingly estranged father in years to involve a murder investigation. The awkward family reunion will have to wait, however, because it isn't long before a link emerges between the murder and upcoming the flower contest… and it becomes clear to Robin that someone might be willing to do anything to win.
Robin already has her hands full juggling family members starting inconveniently timed duels and scheming witches vying for the top prize at the flower contest, but with her cousin's freedom hanging in the balance, she refuses to let the killer get away with their crimes. Can Robin help get Rowan off the hook and find the real killer before the carnival ends in murder and mayhem?
Elle Adams lives in the middle of England, where she spends most of her time reading an ever-growing mountain of books, planning her next adventure, or writing. Elle's books are humorous mysteries with a paranormal twist and tons of magical mayhem.
She also writes urban and contemporary fantasy novels as Emma L. Adams.
This is a great series. the stories and plots keep getting better. Robin finds her voice and her strength as the Head Witch and even her controlling Mother is now respectful and is starting to recognize her authority!

This is an entertaining paranormal toast mystery series. A funcast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Robin is the Hedwige in a paranormal town in England. Her grandmother used to be the head witch and Kevin leader until she passed away and then Robin surprisingly became Hedwige and Robbins mother is the coven leader. Robin Hood left town at 18 trying to get away from your family but came back for her grandmother‘s funeral and was surprised to become head witch. Her grandmother‘s ghost is still around and helps her out in the head which job. Robin also has a brother who is the local police chief and although it annoys her brother to no end she ends up helping him solve crimes around town. How familiar is a squirrel and the witches in her family are able to talk to animals. It is an entertaining series set an a magical world along with many other series by this same author. Read them all and check them all out. On occasion they have crossovers and they are all entertaining.
Just as I had decided that the book and series were becoming tedious, something changed. The relationships between and among some of the characters improved in a major way. Too bad it took so many books before Robin began acting more like an adult and got out from under Mum’s thumb ! I almost had decided to leave the book and series unfinished until this happened.
I liked the carnival setting. I'm still hoping Robin will find a less cumbersome way of keeping that scepter close at hand. Her grandma reminds me so much of my own crabby, judgmental grandma. I'm seeing glimmers of hope that her family might start gaining a little respect for her. Maybe that will come as she starts to gain confidence and respect of herself. Love the squirrel and hedgehog familiars. Trying to love the tarantula.
I enjoy Elle Adams stories, however, it would be nice to see the character Robin treated with more respect. It is getting a little old to see her treated as a 10 year old considering her position. Let her move on to be the woman (not child) she is meant to be.
This is the second to last of the series currently available I hope the author has more books planned as I have become quite fond of some of the characters and sincerely hope that the series ends up as long as some of her other series are.
Finally her mother realizes she doesn’t have to be in charge. She is perfectly capable of handling things on her own and capable of asking for help when needed.
I enjoy the family dynamics in this series. The Squirrel is hysterical. This may not win a Pulitzer, but if you enjoy simple stories involving witches…you’ll probably enjoy.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
