Before I start this review: I have to say that author L.B Black has easily become one of my top favorite authors. I am willing to read whatever books she puts out blindly.
The Broken Oath is the third book in “The Owl King Archives” series. An action-adventure packed plot. Never a dull moment and as I said before; I completely love L.B’s characters…Lawrence is one of my main book boyfriends. My excitement in being able to read yet another Evie and Lawrence adventure was through the roof. I love how this author introduces a bit of the next adventure in her previous book so that the reader has a sense of what might happen. Regardless I feel all the Owl King books could be standalones. Especially since L.B does an amazing job at making a full novel out of a bit while answering previous questions. She does all that without taking away from the current adventure and not creating holes in the story…it just flows so well.
We follow Evie and Lawrence in The Broken Oath where the magical world is in danger of exposure. A group of rebel witches known as The Oath want to go to the old ways. When the supernatural world was out in the open. As the witches threaten to increase the tension between the witches and vampires that could lead to a war. Evie and Lawrence must try to stop the Oath and a potential war between species. All while dealing with uncovered secrets and truth about what it means to be the Owl King. As well as giving into their full feelings and their future together. But what if Evie has a countdown on her life? Can they fix it? What does that mean for them?
We get to see characters from previous books come in to help Evie and Lawrence and get introduced to new characters. Plus Lawrence’s love and devotion to Evie is absolutely “SWOON WORTHY.”
Recommend 100/100. I actually now own all the physical copies and will continue to buy everything L.B Black writes. Can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us.

Lawrence's and Evie's journey continues in this continuous plot of twists and turns with a treacherous and power greedy witch.
Lawrence and Evie are now in a comfortable place where they have established their own routine. Well. What little of it there is! Once again, they are faced by what appears to be insurmountable hurdles. There is a war brewing in the supernatural world. They have to stop it. Easier said than done. Nevertheless, Lawrence and Evie tackle these admirably. Their love and dedication is palpable and the support of her friends go a long way. There are newcomers who allow themselves to believe that they are fighting for the greater good. That couldn't be further from the truth. Like the saying goes, what goes round comes around when the truth comes out.
It's well presented and I love the owls. The suspense on Evie's lifespan being in question is upsetting. I like all the characters, especially Beatrice when she divulges what she had suspected all along. I like how the author recaps on the imprtanant aspects of the previous books. I was heartbroken about what happened to Blaise, but all is well that ends well. Lawrence and Evie are an examplry couple. It's a series that would appeal to fans of the paranormal.
I received an eARC from BookSirens and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
The Broken Oath is a perfect ending to the Owl King Archives trilogy by L.B. Black. In this third book Owl King Evie and her Scribe Lawrence are back again trying to keep balance in the world of witches, vampires and fae. This adventure is the most important yet and hits closest to home.
The books in this series are fast paced and full of action. Each story has brought new people into the once lonely life of a mediocre young witch. As Evie's family of friends grows, so does her confidence in her abilities. Evie has learned how to trust and rely on others as she faces her many perils.
I'm a fan of Blacks' world building, she really knows how to set a scene. I love how she forms the bonds between the different characters. Each of these books kept me engaged throughout. These were the first books I've read by L.B. Black and I look forward to reading more.
What I like best, the Owl King books are filled with action, humor and romance. Black has mastered the balance between all three. Bonus, this story ends with a sweet little scene that satisfies the reader of what the future may look like for the Owl King and her faithful Scribe.

Fantastic ending to a beautifully crafted story! The stakes were high and the build-up to the final peak of the story was paced well throughout the series as a whole. I loved the way the characters were shaped and enhanced throughout, especially our main duo. But, even more so for the side characters that I didn't expect to become so vital. The friendships took me by surprise, which was pleasantly heartwarming. My only qualm with this series is that in the climax of each book, the resolution of the main conflict happened too quickly. The build-up to these moments was well-paced and just enough to have me leaning in as a reader. But, when it comes to the vital moment it felt like it was a 'snap your fingers and it's done' kind of deal. I thoroughly enjoyed this series! It was an interesting twist on urban fantasy. And the characters were relatable as they were more average-joes rather than 'the greatest thing since sliced bread.' Would highly recommend it!
I love this series and a bit sad that it’s come to an end. This was like visiting old friends again and joining their adventures. L.B.’s writing style is so comfortable that you get immersed in her world before you know it. She makes you feel captivated with a plot that’s full of action and pieces everything together for the reader so that the story flows. I know this is the third book in the series, but it could be a standalone with the way that L.B. writes (although I really recommend reading all 3 from this series). She filled in pertinent information from the previous books so that the story went uninterrupted. Evie and Lawrence’s relationship is just so sweet. I’m glad that amongst the craziness, we were able to slow down and get moments between these two. Super gratifying ending to the series.

Witches, vampires, Fae, against each other and in the middle of it all Evie threatened by all. Mysteries are revealed and it seems that being the Owl King was more dangerous than everyone had thought. Interesting and intriguing twists in the story. Where did I hear that you should never turn your back on the enemy? Clever as the author handles Evie's conflict and gives her new hope. I really liked the vampire-style ceremony and the character of Beatriz made me laugh. The old lady had more resources than she seemed! Action, suspense, deception, violent fights, mystery, romance and passion. Good final book for the story. I voluntarily reviewed this copy which I received for free from BookSirens.
Evie and Lawrence’s bond gets deeper in this, the 3rd novel in the Owl King Archives.
This book was cozier than the previous two. Evie now has Lawrence, her father and her found family of friends. But all of this newfound happiness is in peril. Helena of the Rose Coven is back, and she’s intending to settle her personal grudge against the Owl King and her scribe by any means necessary.
Add in a coven of renegade witches intending to bring the magical world to light, a budding war with the vampires and ancient fey, and Evie’s newfound happiness may be short-lived.
I really enjoyed this book. Evie’s getting more settled in herself and all the secondary characters are a real joy.

L.B. Black is now on the list of my favourite writers! I liked this last book very much. A lot of unexpected twists and turns make this book a page turner. What's with the giant tree? It the start of a war in the making between those who want to expose the supernatural world and those who don't. Or is it about power?
Evie and Lawrence meet up with the vampires, and the witches too play and important role. Will they save the world, in spite of the personal problems they encounter? Witty, fun, exiting and action packed. Recommended!
I received an Arc from the writer and offer my opinion freely.
Love love love this series! Lawrence and Evie are such an adorable couple, and all the action and twists and turns in this book really kept me hooked. All the secondary characters are amazing and really complement the storyline. Lawrence is probably my all-time favorite book boyfriend. As Evie says, he's just so good. I am so personally attached to these characters and invested in the story, which is truly a testament to the author's writing. At first, I didn't really care for the chapters from the Oath's point of view, but the background knowledge on the "villains" really helped the book feel more cohesive as the story progressed. Overall, a great third book in a fantastic series! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Evie and Lawrence adventures continue, this time with a never ending battle between witches and vampires. It's the perfect ending to their story (although I wouldn't mind continue reading their adventures). This book bring new characters (like the Oath and the Nosforotos) and old ones (like blaise and Adrienne and the Rose Coven). But for me the best character it's Paxton 🤣🤣 he's the best and had the best "lines". It's a book full of action and there is always something happening, never a dull moment.
This book was high stakes all the way through, but still made time to stop for tender moments between Evie and Lawrence.
There are three povs, Evie, Lawrence, and the Oath. Getting a glimpse into the world of the Oath was pretty cool as it gave a chance to see the motivations of the opposition and humanized them.
The Broken Oath is definitely the best book in a series of really great books. The lore is so intriguing. I hope to see more in this world.
I really enjoyed The Broken Oath. If it is the final book, it's a strong conclusion to the series. The characters remained consistent with the previous books, building on their prior character arcs. We also got some awesome new characters. (Paxton is ADORABLE!) The plot was interesting, well-paced, and surprising. The ending is very satisfying.
I can't wait to see what L.B. Black has in store for us next.
Review: I think this might be my favorite book of the trilogy if I’m being honest! I loved seeing Lawrence’s devotion to Evie in this book and how far he was willing to go for her! I was so anxious reading this in regards to Evie! If anyone has read this you know why! All I can without spoilers is that this ending was perfection! I didn’t want to say goodbye to these characters!
The Owl King Archives is a little gem of a trilogy. The character building is subtle, yet complex, and the plot line intriguing. This author has mastered the craft of storytelling through “showing” rather than “telling,” and the result is a paranormal story that is surprisingly realistic. These are characters whose story will remain with you for a good long time. I highly recommend this series!
This was absolutely the best ending to this series. L.B. did an amazing job packing this story full of action, intrigue, mystery, ad a whole lot of Evie and Lawrence moments that make everything 10x’s sweeter. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time wondering when was something bad was going to happen or what else would go wrong. There were twists and turns I often didn’t see coming. I love that we got to explore about this world even though it’s the final book. The new information didn’t feel like an info dump and you weren’t left with a million questions at the end. It had the most perfect ending I could’ve asked for in this series. I loved it so much!
Everything meshed together in this one! It was like visiting old friends on another adventure. A different kind of vampire / witch/fae kind of story with great world building . Each book gives us just a little bit more and the solutions to problems coming at the Owl King and her Scribe are not always the expected ones nor are the outcomes. This was a good read and I would love to see more of this world. I received this ARC from BookSirens and am happy to leave this reveiw.
