I don't know what in the hell I was expecting listening to this hour and some change audiobook. I was just hoping it would be good, but to tell you the truth I can't even tell you what the fuck I just read. (lol seriously...)
well... that was awful. let me give a run down of what i hated.
- they start dating about 2 days after they meet. ok y’all have no chemistry besides the physical aspect 💀 i’m fine with characters liking each other quickly, but it’s too much with this story. - horace is stupid and horny all the time. getouttamyface - 85% of this book is smut and it lives off of that - TRIGGER WARNING. there was an instance where horace is doing stuff to her *sexually* WHILE SHE IS ASLEEP MEANING THERE WAS NO CONSENT WHATSOEVER. i don’t care if she liked it or thought it was hot. it was non-consensual and makes me hate horace even more -horace basically made her say yes to his proposal, during one of the smut scenes. -horace says, “i’m eating you for breakfast,” go away.
3.5 stars. Reggie and Ho? I thought this story was funny. I also enjoyed the length, plot and characters. I normally don’t care for novellas unless they are part of an existing series but this one packed a punch despite its brevity’s. Jason and Stella did an awesome job as narrators to infuse sexy into this story without making it corny. I liked this one a lot.
I bought Just the Tip for $1 and kept low expectations for this modern romance (seriously, I bought it for its randy pun + Paris—as the French say: “Pourquoi pas?” (Why not?)). An American waitress in Paris meets British posh dude in a cafe. Straightforward, right?
But this book is actually hilarious. Truly. I laughed out loud throughout—excellent dialogue and ridiculous situations. It is short and sweet and steamy as all GET OUT. This is not high brow, though there are gifts in it for the supercilious readers among us anyway. Fun fun fun.
I wish this was longer! Reggie and Horace got together so very quickly and I would have liked a bit more development to their relationship. They met and ten minutes of listening later, they're having sex lol. It was cute and had a sweet ending, maybe someday the author will expand on this?
This was just ok. Sexy, yes. Fast, yes. But there wasn't a lot of depth which can be done in a short story like this. It just fell a little flat for me.
This was an interesting novella. I really enjoyed the characters and the hero and heroine were lovely and intriguing. It didn’t feel rushed even knowing it wasn’t going to be a long listen. I actually wouldn’t mind a full length book it was that good.
Great narration by the way the accents and the female narrator who is a favorite of mine made this short listen very worth it.
Oh wow. Just wow. This was so, so bad. The only thing that made it so that I actually finished it was because it was only an hour and a half long. Short stories and novellas can already be problematic, often either rushing the story or throwing something incomplete out there with underdeveloped characters and plot lines. This manages to do all of these things with abandon. Listing all the things that were wrong with this story would use more space than this story is worth. To make it short ... two characters who are not developed AT ALL and a plot that goes too fast with no depth AT ALL. Two strangers meet randomly in Paris. Within the course of a few hours they decide that they are PERFECT for each other and get engaged. WHY??? They spent less than a day together and yet they already think they know each other perfectly. Here's how much they know ... Horace discovers that he knows that Reggie is a history buff. Why? Because she was able to say that the American Revolution began in 1776. Seriously. She's obviously a history genius. That's not something that any old person would know off the top of their head. Cue the eye rolls. Actually, my poor eye sockets are sore from all the eye rolling that took place as I read this ridiculous story. Even the big mystery of the story has the most ridiculous and unrealistic conclusion ever. Oh how I disliked this book. Both of these authors are way better than this book would suggest. The one shining thing ... the two narrators were delightful. I'd love to know their real feelings about how they felt while having to narrate such rubbish. One star. I did not like this. Thank goodness it was a freebie. I still feel like that was too much money to ask for such a story.
If you’re looking for something quick and funny and full of shenanigans, look no further. I love LJ Shen and Helena Hunting and this has definitely left me crossing my fingers for more of both of them in the future.
I listened to a whole bunch of audiobooks yesterday with Audible Escape, had a lot of alone time at work.
This was the first one I listened to, the narrators were great, the story was very short, really cute, and sexy.
I don't remember a lot of details, because of reading so many in a short amount of time, except an awkward/gross first meeting, she got peed on by a dog and the graphic detail of that, she's looking for her father in France (?), and the instant attraction between our two main characters. Oh and the awkwardness of the elderly neighbor hearing the sex-capades during the night.
Okay love the story the authors put together. It funny, adorable, romantic, and hot. I fell in love with the Characters as well. Narrators did fabulous job and did I mention that I love Jason Clarke he just makes it perfect bringing the characters to life. I definitely recommend this.
This will be short and sweet the book itself was short and sweet. Both of the authors are ones I love, especially Helena Hunting, so this was a fun read. The title is funny, because I of course thought of something a little more risque, but it was still both fun and steamy and sweet! Definitely worth the very low price of $2.99 on Audible in my opinion.
Cute, quick, funny and sexy story by this duo, that was perfect for in between books, and a great listen. I really enjoyed the witty banter and the plot started very intriguing, but just as I was getting excited for how it’ll evolve, it ended unexpectedly. I saw it was a short story in advance, but I really wish it was longer. This had the potential of being so much more and I think I would have enjoyed a full-length novel by this writing duo and narrated by this amazing cast. Sadly, it left me with a feeling of wanting more out of this and feeling a bit unsatisfied. It was a nice story all and all, just a lot shorter than I expected.
Okay, the title of this book was supposed to catch your interest. It did mine. But, the story itself is a very cute "meet cute" involving our female MC Reggie and a hottie that she meets while waiting on his table (while he has two dates in a row, one right after the other, really!) The male MC is named Horus...I kid you not.
Anyway, this is a light hearted and fun easy read/listen that kept my attention from beginning to end and left me with a smile on my face. The narrators (Jason Clarke and Stella Bloom) were just icing on the cake.
Yes, it is one of those insta-love and YES, there are a couple of things that tend to push the envelop when it comes to believability , but honestly, who cares. It was FUN.
I quite enjoyed this short story of an American gal meets an English lad while in Paris trying to find her estranged father. There is instant attraction and chemistry with good wit and banter. I loved that Horace was completely smitten and knew without the help of a Thai fortune teller that Reggie was the woman for him. They did feel like the perfect match. Sometimes you wonder with these quick romances if a full length novel would have done the characters more justice, but in this instance I would have been happy either way. The epilogue has a sweet HEA that made me smile.
What it is about? POV? HEA/HFN? Funny parts? Sad parts? Love triangle? Insta-love? Cheating? Super insecure character? Trigger warning? How realistic is it? Who should read this Who Shouldn’t read this
