Or the nightmare I was trying to escape before I lost my memory?
I didn’t know true desire until the first time I laid eyes on him. Tall, dark, beautiful as a god—completely forbidden. He was the penniless son of the help born in the Lousiana bayou, and I was a pretty southern princess, cultivated like a hothouse flower to become the trophy on some well-pedigreed man’s arm.
My mother slapped my face when she saw us together and warned me he would ruin me. A few weeks later, my father made me sign a contract vowing I wouldn’t have relations with anyone until I married.
So, I tried to forget him. Until one day I woke up to find out I actually had.
There’s a near-decade hole in my memory. My disapproving parents have passed away. And the biggest surprise of all: that boy my mother warned would ruin me?
He’s my husband now.
He’s still beautiful as a god, and he’s now rich as one, too. He’s made himself over from a poor Cajun boy living on the bayou into a ruthless mogul with enough money to give me anything my heart desires. A huge house on a lake, the perfect job, and endless pleasure.
He’s a total dream husband. Until one day I receive a note from someone I trust, telling me three unsettling things.
1. The beautiful god I sleep next to every night is not my real husband. 2. Before he re-invented himself as a ruthless mogul, he was the even more ruthless leader of a notorious motorcycle gang, and… 3. I was hiding from him all the way up until my accident.
Could it be? Is my dream-come-true actually the nightmare I was trying to escape?
What would you do if you were me? Live with the perfect illusion? Or do whatever it takes to uncover the truth?

So I clearly devoured this book and yet I struggle with how to review it. This was a make-or-break book for me and this writer. I vehemently dislike the character of Hades, I feel and have felt for a while that this writer has been on an increasingly disturbing pattern (for me) of writing intelligent black women in demeaning ways and pairing them with men that are abusive and making the women go through mental gymnastics to accept the abuse and the man to get to a happy ending with a male character that only deserves a restraining order and therapy.
And yet.
She almost pulls it off? In my review of Hades I, I said I needed 100 pages of groveling. Minimum. It's not groveling but it is an attempt at atonement. If Hades had not been so repellent in the first book I would have been sold. This would have been 5-stars. Hands down.
This book was delayed by at least a month and I genuinely think she used that extra time to read reviews (because Hades I is poorly reviewed in comparison to most of her other books ((heck ALL of her other books)) and address criticisms. I think it shows a little in the editing because the editing is way sloppier than in most of her other books (ex. changing POVs "I" in one sentence "her" in the next in the same paragraph, missing punctuation, etc) but even with that the story is good, I like the style in which it was written (minus certain chapters), and it hit a lot of the points that I personally needed it to hit and that I saw called out in other reviews.
Spoilers:
Although somewhat necessary to the plot there were still too many chapters dedicated to other people, especially Benjamin. Nothing will make me like him. See spoilers. I'm sure his book is next but no. No more trying to redeem worthless men, not for me. It also disrupts the flow of the story, Tess was needed. Benjamin was not.
That said, I've come to this realization about TT and her most recent work. It's just not my cup of tea.
I can read crap, I can highbrow, I can read highbrow crap. I can read fluff. I can read dark, but I have a line. I can't read black women being abused and demeaned and being diminished in order to elevate mediocre men, especially when they are white and there are strong undertones of racism, sexism and misogynoir. I wouldn't tolerate it from a white author and I won't tolerate it from a black one. And I came to this realization after reading this book that was largely free of those elements and was, in part a cleanup of those elements that were rampant in the last book. As a writer she can write the stories she wants to write but as a reader, I can choose not to read them. Going forward, I'm choosing not to.
But in the end, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I'm glad I got closure. If she goes back to writing sci-fi, I will be there. She's not a 1-click for me anymore, but an approach with caution.
ETA: I had to come back to this because I couldn't figure out why TT's books being so bad upset me so much and then it hit me. It's because she's a good writer. Like I wrote above, I can read crap. Just because a book doesn't have proper tenses or sentence structure doesn't mean that it is not a rocking good time or a good story. But TT is a GOOD writer which means she knows or has studied the fundamentals of creative writing. One of the tent posts of creative writing is "show vs tell". What you show the reader is always more compelling than what you tell the reader.
Throughout the series but especially in the last two books, she has shown us how reprehensible and abusive and cruel these men are but she has only told us how the heroines love them and how in love they are with the heroines and how loving they are. We haven't seen it on the page! The book keeps referring to the meeting by the pool because that is all the kindness that there is between these two characters until we are told about the movie dates but never shown them. It's not believable. She is a good enough writer to know that she is selling the hate but she is not selling the love. This is not a love story and if it was marketed and sold as that, ok! I could deal with that. But it's being sold as romance and love and it is not romantic or loving at all. And as a writer she is capable of more than that because she is selling that hate and contempt like a rockstar. But where is the love?
WOW!!!!! I hated the first book and honestly did not think that I could hate the second more and boy was I wrong! Let me start by saying that this book was so disjointed it was nearly impossible to keep straight and read with any semblance of sanity. This book was HARD to read and honestly if this was truly about redeeming this character this effort landed lightyears short of that ambitious mark. An entire book was spent lamenting the torture and pain inflicted on this woman in graphically descriptive language and I'm supposed to believe that absence in this book made her heart grow fonder and they just rode off into the sunset. MA'AM is it crack? It's crack right?!?
A huge part of this book was weaving together the convoluted storyline of Tess and Bono into this book and trying to flesh them out (poorly) while completely mismanaging the main storyline. None of the characters got what they deserved and the story felt hollow, rushed and then at the end just felt like the author was over it and just said "ok done!"
And BAYBAY let me tell you about how the pretentiousness of trying to weave in the blurbs at the beginning of the chapters about Persephone and Hades from actual mythology made me want to chuck my computer down a flight of stairs. There were so many avenues to getting a good "dark" romance out of these characters and we have seen that this is not outside of the capabilities of this author. "Her Russian Beast" is by far one of my favorites by her and it was very dark with complicated characters who were deeply flawed but was written in a way that made you feel and root for them as a couple. Hades made me want to hurl!!! I have never in my almost 20 years of reading romance novels rooted for the heroine to kill the hero and go off alone over and over.
As for the ending if you came here expecting that Hades worked for this HEA then you will be sorely disappointed, he continued to stalk this woman lie to her and create a cage around her to the very end when it was impossible to continue THEN he changed tactics. This book and its predecessor were awful I honestly don't understand why if she was not going to redeem the character and not give a real arc to the story why bother.? This effort felt half hearted and lacked any care or crafting for characters that were built and weaved through many other stories. I cannot mention enough how poorly the stories were written, I am honestly so tried of the secret baby troupe when it comes to black women in these series it's tired and i believe that this author could find more creative ways to tell her stories without romanticizing trauma and torture of black women at the hands of white men. It's weird as hell.
ARC: So I struggle with how I was going to write this review. Knowing that my review may be unpopular but I gotta be honest with my review.
My issue is not even with the Hades character although he was a demon looking like a angel. My issue comes in with the chapters dedicated to other characters. As I mentioned in my last review I felt like those chapter take away or distract from the overall arc of the story. When this book finished I didn’t feel like the couple really address their issue but more so glossed over them. I still walk away not really connecting with the Hades character and I definitely say that Stephanie was better then me cause I would of left and gotten a restraining order.
The strategy of putting this book out months after the first part, so that my hatred of Hades could dull, didn’t much work. As I thought, there really is no redemption for this character.
This being two love stories in one, also fell flat, because Galen & Stephanie’s relationship is one that needed a full novel to unravel and put back together again, having another half formed story in there really dulled them both. Although the idea of putting a less complicated romance together with Galen & Stephanie’s mess was a good idea, in theory.
This didn’t do it for me. At all. Not on the timeline proposed and not with their past.
I guess this is just one for the dark romance/ groveling fetishist girlies.
other reviewers wrote it better. idk what's going on with theodora but these ruthless moguls books have been largely really bad. there's been a definite decline in quality from the last dragon shifter books before she shifted to the ruthless triad and mogul shit (only like phantom's book really).
idk hades really couldn't be redeemed at all thanks to the deplorable shit she had him to do stephanie. theodora tried to use some of the MANY critiques written about part 1 of this deceptive ass duet, but like another reviewer said, she SHOWED hades being a racist demon and TOLD us that stephanie somehow loved him, mainly from making eye contact at a fucking pool 12 years previously.
loved tess and was not as bothered by the asides to her thing, even though this friggin tt multiverse is a tangled fucking web and it takes you out of the story to remember some random tertiary character from 15 books ago who is now getting some shine. prolly didn't bother me cuz it got me away from hades and his melodramatic retelling of the greek myth and his own bullshit. but then benjamin had to be a pos too so idk how he's gonna get away with his shit in the super secret special patreon epilogue or w/e.
i want theodora to get back to what these books were at the beginning of the long nationwide trek. more semi-realistic non-sociopathic billionaires and the plucky average black women who have em by the emotional balls. even the shifter shit was more relatable than this! and i need characters to not use the subtitle of the books so gotdamn much in the text. if i never see the word ruthless again it'll be too friggin soon.
maybe theodora declining sucks so much b/c she is actually talented and it feels like she is phoning it in while expecting more money from the reader. a lot of her contemporaries in this subgenre have not improved past 10th grader sneaking onto Wattpad and she was one of the few that actually has talent :(
He didn't suffer enough, in my perspective. I would recommend this book; who likes redemption stories and would like to see an unworthy character receive the love he doesn't deserve after treating the female lead so shabby. (Yes, I am still annoyed about how he branded her like she was chattel for a debt she didn't owe.) I still do not believe that Galen' Hades' Fairgood is redeemable.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author. This review is purely from my perspective, and all opinions are my own. I am under no obligation to review the book. However, I will note that the author did an excellent job tying up this story with a happy ending, and then segueing into the story within this story is pure genius.
Part 2 of Hades was about reliving the past, revealing the present and coming to terms on their relationship. I’m a bit torn on how things unfolded, it was too easy for them to be back together😑.
I liked the book but I felt Hades/Galen needed to suffer more than the little bit he did😣. For all the mental, emotional and physical abuse Hades put Stephanie through just because he could, and what Hades experienced in return was too unbalanced😳. I’m not even mad that Persy forgave him as I understood why, I just didn’t care for how easily he was forgiven. A lot of what Hades suffered were self inflicted, finally realizing he was wrong and I’m glad that he came to his senses about it. I didn’t expect Persy to physically hurt Hades but him suffering mentally/emotionally based on how she felt needed to take place instead. Denying him for a few days wasn’t enough and a longer period of them separated with zero to minimal contact and seeing more remorse each time he saw her and seeing him genuinely work on bettering himself to be accepted back into her life was sorely needed. I’m happy they did end in a HEA❤️. On the other had I did enjoy the story of Tess and Benjamin😍. I loved that despite the years apart there was still a flicker of flame🔥to catch fire for them. They truly deserved to have a second chance😘🥰.
If you read the first Hades I do suggest reading the second book to have closure. The book had me in my feeling but not in the way I had hoped😬. 3.5 Stars
Listen, this writer is a joke. She's irredeemable, she's basically turned racist to a genre. I don't care if you're black or mixed with whatever - the plot is disgusting. Never judge a book by it's cover right? Now I'm judging the writer by the quality ( or lack thereof) of the books they write! Awful awful storytelling
The book felt rushed. I’ve read many books from Theodora Taylor but all the books in this series was rushed. The men in these story are completely 2 dimensional and the women are not self-sufficient. Reading these books I learned that these men…they don’t change because they want to change for themselves….they only change because they are trying to get their women back. (who they kidnap, abuse, and isolate from other’s)
Once again a great ride. Never see the twists coming. Still mad about the first book ending in a cliffhanger. Still mad about the extra month wait from the original release date. Did not like the wait for the Benjamin and Tess conclusion. Not willing to sign up for Patron to get more content.
TT you are an amazing storyteller, but your marketing feels like a money grab. If it working for you…do you, but it is turn off to me.
Now about Hades…book 2. So many twists. Unexpected HEA, but TT makes it happen. You felt Hades and Stephanie’s pain and could I understand why they made the choices that they made.
Ampun deh.. ekspektasi gw ketinggian mungkin ya, baca preview nya menarik gitu.. mungkin akan lebih membuat gw greget bacanya kl single POV nya si heroine, heronya dibuat misterius gitu.. ini dual POV, jadi gak perlu nebak lagi gw.. malah sampai ending gw gak paham ini si Galen tu mau balas dendam ke Bapaknya Stephanie karena apa, kan mamanya meninggal karena cancer buahaha
Terus ada banyak POV, bkn cuma lead nya doang! OMG kesel gw kwkwkwkwkw
It reminds me of abusive relationships that usually ends with someone’s death. This was triggering for me as an abuse survivor. I don’t understand why people find this enjoyable. They may not have experienced an abusive relationship. If that’s the case, I’m happy for them. I don’t understand why certain dangerous behaviors are romanticized. I’m glad people are differentiating between fiction and reality.
I’m a big fan on Theodora Taylor. The Ruthless series wasn’t my favorite.
3.00 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Edition e-book. This concludes the romance of Galen "Hades" Fairgood and Stephanie "Persephone" Perreault. Stephanie was not discovered when she and Amira, Waylon's love interest, ran away. Amira returned to the MC but Stephanie went to her mother's sister who turned out to her sister, her mother's daughter by another man. Three years pass, Stephanie is hit by a car while riding her bike, she suffers retrograde amnesia and awakes to Hades as her husband. I like both these characters and rooted for Hades' redemption and he and Stephanie reconciling and having a happy future. The author reached this conclusion but took the reader to a ton of minutia...the romance of other couples and the opinions and situations of other characters and the mythological story of Hades and Persephone and the parallels of that story to this couple, Galen and Stephanie. All this other stuff had the author omit relevant on the page demonstrations of Galen and Stephanie forming a loving romantic bond. This author was once and auto read, this series put that into question. I loved the MC vibe, I loved Hades and Stephanie's arc, but I hated the disruption and tangents involving other characters and obvious filler to lengthen a book and create duets when there was no need.
Whew! this is one explosive, insane and awesome ride! I was lucky enough to receive and ARC and I read it twice already and my heart is still pounding! I could not put this book down and I still think there is more left to the story and I can't wait! I love the MC series and how one story always unfolds into more stories that still need to be told. Excellent! I would give it 1,000 stars if I could-Must Read Book !
Hades story wasn’t an easy read. He did so much damage in book one, getting to the happily ever after would not be easy. The couple each went through changes but maybe a little more of his suffering would have been good reading
I love dark romances.....but Hades is just not a likeable character lol.And geez could he have been made to grovel just a little? He literally goes for a jog and she comes crawling back!
In the conclusion we are gifted a second chance story. Galen and Stephanie's journey begins again under the circumstances they both face. His commitment to litteraly be the man that she dreamed of is fascinating to read. You get pulled in and will be consumed by the love that is shown for each other in their own ways. As a secondary story, we have time with Tess & Benjamin. What a tangled web that's pulled apart with all of them! You'll lose sleep and miss deadlines, but wirth it! 😊Buying this will have you circling back to part 1, so you can get lost into Hades & Persy's tale all over again
For those of you who are just beginning to read this series, because it is just that, a series, you will find yourself confused. So I highly recommend you do not start with this book, but instead read the book before this one, or perhaps the ones before that one.
But if you just want to jump right in, let me just give you a bit of a background context.
This story is about Hades and Persy, aka Galen Fairgood and Stephanie Perreault. Stephane’s father, Antoine Perreault, sold Stephanie as a blood debt to Galen, who’s alt ego name is Hades. Hades then names Stephanie Persy.
( For the sake of this review we’re just gonna continue to use the name Hades to represent Galen, and Persy to represent Stephanie )
The blood Debt that Antoine owe to Hades was because of the death of his mother. Antoine had a hand in killing Hades mother, and in order to save his own pathetic self he sold Persy.
And at last began the sad and devastating love story between Persy and Hades. Between Hade and disgusting of a younger sister Ellie, but mostly Hades, began to exact revenge on Persy.
I’m not going to get into what they had done to her, since you can read it in the previous book, but what I WILL say, it is beyond F up.
Once the blood debt is paid Hades and Persy can have their HEA.. or whatever.
Now let’s jump right into present time.
This book has my feeling in a tornado.
I’m not sure how I felt about Hades being the ML still and getting a HEA. I just cannot get over or forgive him, his sister, Persy father or anyone else that had direct assistance in what they did to Persy.
But seeing and reading about how Persy forgave the wrong doings of her father, and mother and etc. I just had to smh at her, because HOW?!?!?!?!
After everything that was done to you, there will NEVER be a forgiving bone in my body. I think it was the fact that she forgave her father, who expected her to die at Hades hands. Or maybe it was the treatment he dealt her before he sent her to Hades, and the afterwards. SMH what a worthless man. That made me realize that Persy just had a big forgiving heart. *Shrug*
And speaking of worthless people, can we talk about Hades little sister Ellie really quickly. This woman is trash as well. In the beginning of Hades book 1, I felt bad for her. The way she was devastated in losing her mother, and how badly that affected her. I thought she and Persy were bounding over having Mama Fairgood in their lives. BUT NO! I really don’t understand why Ellie hates Persy, she is a victim, and was deeply affected by the loss as well. Even towards the end of the story she still had hatred towards Persy, which I find unbound.
But even with these pet peeves I actually really enjoy reading this book. I love reading about the changes Hades was willing to make, to prove to Persy that he wants her forgiveness. I love that he doesn’t take advantage of her loss of memory…. Well as much as he could’ve taken advantage of her. And I LOVE that Persy doesn’t simply accept things how they are. She actually goes out and find the answers to her past.
There is another story in this book which has to do with Persy sister and her relationship, but I didn’t care much for that. My main focus is the main story.
Now Hades might be many things, but mannnn he sounds sexy as F. See I want to hate on Hades but…. This book makes it damn hard to not also be part of those readers who wants to ignore the past and pay attention to the now. lol
Let me just say this , from reading all the other books, what I did learn is that them Fairgood Men love hard and fight even harder for forgiveness.
I’m gonna leave this review with one of my favorite scenes, since I feel that this scene really shows Persy in her finest. And Hades being well Hades.
“Just the ripping sound of the ropes’ hooks tearing away from where she anchored them beneath the bed. And then she’s on her back, and Hades is on top of her in an instant.
“You’ve been punching me 24/7 for days- not hours -days,” he rasps, his voice the coarsest grade of sandpaper. “And you think you get to leave me here while you go look up presents for your beer ( bish ) ex?”
Stephanie should be scared. His big body is thundering with rage. But she just smirks and says, “There he is. I wondered when you would show back up. Hi, Hades.”
... will surely come to light. And, now the chickens have come home to roost. Hades/ Galen loved Stephanie/ Persy so much that he was willing to tell and live a little white lie when Stepanie lost her memory. All of the family secrets have been revealed and all of the questions from book one are answered. In her effort to regain memory from nine years of her life, Stephanie finds out things that Galen doesn't want her to know or at least try to explain to her why he did what he did and beg for her forgiveness. He was trying to be a better man, one that Stephanie deserved, and leave the old Hades behind. She was his Persephone, his ma belle, his bayou siren and he be damned if he wouldn't do anything to keep her from her beer b*tch ex.
Benjamin Brady Keane finally gets to explain to Tess his feelings. Oh, that scene had me crying as he professed his love for her. He never got over her and she never got over him.
When Stephanie finally remembers everything she and Galen can finally have their HEA and so does her sister Tess and Benjamin.
I loved this series. It is now one of my favorites that I will be reading again and again. It is always a pleasure for me to read stories centered around my home state and culture. I especially liked that epilogue and bonus epilogue. And the last chapter? WOOOOO Chile, it was soooooo hawt!
NOTE: This book was read and listened to and synced through Audible.com. Both of the narrators did an excellent job of making the story come to life. I especially loved Patrick Jeller. He did an excellent job with the Cajun accent. Few people can get it right, but he nailed it. It reminded me of listening to my mother's people back in the day and brought good memories of a time gone by. I could listen to that smooth voice of Patrick Zeller all day.
I generally enjoyed this series, although I liked the books in the beginning of the series better than the last three books. The fifth and sixth books told the saga of Stephanie and Galen, which is modeled on the myth of Hades and Persephone. Stephanie and Hades had a really strange love/ hate relationship. At the end of the first book, Stephanie had lost her memory and didn’t realize that Galen had imprisoned her and was emotionally abusive because she served as a blood debt because of something her father had done to Galen’s family. The author spends a lot of time developing the backstory for the first part of this story but she spent so much time filling in the blanks that I got confused and basically had to reread the first book in their story again. I particularly was confused about Tess and her role in the story, but it all comes together in the end. I think there are so many twists and turns in the story that it takes away from the main story, which is the relationship between Galen and Stephanie. Also, the storyline of the MC is almost completely absent from this final book, which is a little strange since it’s supposed to be an MC series. I basically liked the story and am sad to see the MC series end.
This last book ended with a twist that only pulled me in and made me rush to get to this installment. In this book Galen was ready to admit to his feelings and trying to have any piece of Stephanie he could get. We also saw the twisted results of actions committed by Stephanie’s mother and grandmother and why her adopted little sister had a family resemblance. Maybe it’s this twisted patriarchy we live in or maybe it’s the author’s writing skills, but I really felt for Galen in this book. He was going down a road his mother didn’t approve of and when he was gonna go for the straight and her demise sent him over the edge. Plus he seemed to finally get it that he needed to let Stephanie make choices so he waited with bated breath for the other shoe to drop and her deciding he’s not where she wanted to be.
The plot had a lot of twists and turns I wasn’t expecting but they told a great story. I plan on reading some of Taylor’s other series and hope that they don’t also include this penchant of women who are put in situations where they feel the need to run off.
HADES IS MY WET DREAM! Between the eyes, the gruff sexiness and the total devotion and obsession he has for Stephanie, it burns on the pages.
The second half of this book was so worth the wait. In the conclusion of Hades and Stephanie's story we find out how she ended up without any recollection of the time they spent together. Hades sees this as his second chance to make things right with his true love. I loved seeing Hades make that turn for Stephanie. He really did love her and tried to turn his life around. Galen was truly the dream guy. Truthfully though, life isn't a dream and every woman needs a bit of Hades AND Galen. Stephanie is no pushover though. She pushes Hades to do the right thing and live up to being the Swamp Boy she dreamed about.
I don't want to spoil anymore, but I truly loved this couple and also the bonus couple we get throughout. Can't wait to see how their story ends. PICK THIS UP NOW!
Lord! Ms Taylor you have done it again! I never thought I could love hate and just want to climb all over a fictional man until I met Hades! And damn this was a thrill ride! Persy aka Stephanie is also very much one of my favorite female MCs of yours too!
The way she changes and adapt and grows throughout both these books is crazy! The selfless demure princess ends up a ruthless queen and I’m here for it!
Hades besides Waylon Is my favorite. This man was crazy and mean and psycho and damn did he live hard!
This version of hades and Persephone might be one of my favorite reimaginings!
And y’all know that spice is on point!
But no only that the drama is on point every twist and turn is a roller coaster!
Don’t let me forget Tess and Benjamin! That story within a story was icing on the cake!
I have a hard time with keeping up with boots that come in two or three parts. However, for some reason I can wait patiently for Theodora Taylor to deliver on the Ruthless MC.
I HAVE NEVER been disappointed and Jersey and Hades story is hot hot hot and had me up nights wanting to know how Stephanie was going to come out of memory loss...and how she was going to react to Galen when she did.
If you have not read this series you are missing out on some uniquely different characters with some uniquely different backgrounds and relationships that play out in a way that will make you want to fight the people who interrupt your story time this book was fire y'all fire!!!!!! Read the WHOLE SERIES you won't regret it. And, you can thank me latter.
The twist from the first book drives Book 2. But to me it was the thing that made the book drag in the middle.
So Hades and now Stephanie are living the straight life with a twist - Stephanie can’t remember the last 10 years of her life. So all of book one is gone because she has amnesia from an accident. Hades becomes Galen and leaves the Reapers to give Stephanie the life she’s always dreamed of…but the lies build up and spill out.
This book ties up Galen and Stephanie’s story and includes a conclusion to all of the other Reapers stories in the series. However, I loved the references and retelling of Hades and Persephone’s Greek mythology. There are several twists, explanations and loose ends also finished in this book.
I love to read Ms. Taylor work. In her books you get lost in a world that keep me under the bed covers reading until you fall a sleep. If you miss a book, you got to go an read the book because when you read it you can go back to the book an go oh that is why he is or she is in the book, you be like wow! I didn't see that coming, then you be like now I got a complete picture that makes stories so much powerful to the readers.. I look forward to new books from Ms. Taylor. Happy reading😊😉 p.s. I had to cut it short got a cold not feeling that great.
I started reading this author a couple weeks ago (I believe the book I started with was Holt) and while I liked it, I found it hard to relate, I usually don’t read books with black female leads for this reason. But I enjoyed the characters and I read the next book in that series out of curiosity… Here we are a couple weeks later and I’ve read at least a dozen of her books. Hades and Persy is by far my favorite 😍 Omg so dark and so complex I LOVED how she enter-wined Tess and Bono’s story in there and how Tess isn’t actually Stephanie’s aunt but sister and Daphne’s not her sister but niece. Crazy! This book is like no other I’ve read with so many awesome plot twist
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Every time I think Ms.Taylor has given us an Alpha male that is above anything we’ve come across, and boom, here she comes with Hades/Galen. In typical TT style, she weaves a storyline so compelling that I took off yesterday from work to finish this compelling tale. When I first read about Stephanie in Waylan’s story I couldn’t wait to dive into her background story. I love Stephanie’s resiliency, would have love to read more about her strategic planning, she was no scaredy-cat.Can’t wait for the bonus epilogue. 10 ⭐️ ⭐️ 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️!!!!!
Stephanie lives a magical life with her husband, Galen. Except Galen has a big secret, and Stephanie is tired of not knowing.
I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life for this book. Hades and Persephone is my absolute favorite Greek myth, but getting to know Galen and Stephanie Fairgood was really awesome. I loved their relationship, and he people that they could be.
If you like Theodora Taylor, this sextet, and the Hades and Persephone myth, this book is for you.
3.5 stars * I suggest reading HADES: Stephanie and the Merciless Reaper: 50 Loving States, Louisiana (Ruthless MC Book 5) for a richer storytelling experience. Not going to lie, Hades was not amongst my favourite anti-heroes in TT's catalogue. I never got past his actions towards Stephanie. I was hoping that there would have been more redemptive behaviour on his part, and that Stephanie would have made him really work to earn her forgiveness and love. The secondary story featuring Tess and Benjamin was an added bonus.
