This one took a lot out of me. But great read.
Oh Boy. Oh Boy. Oh Boy.
Where do I began.
For those of you who are just beginning to read this series, because it is just that, a series, you will find yourself confused. So I highly recommend you do not start with this book, but instead read the book before this one, or perhaps the ones before that one.
But if you just want to jump right in, let me just give you a bit of a background context.
This story is about Hades and Persy, aka Galen Fairgood and Stephanie Perreault. Stephane’s father, Antoine Perreault, sold Stephanie as a blood debt to Galen, who’s alt ego name is Hades. Hades then names Stephanie Persy.
( For the sake of this review we’re just gonna continue to use the name Hades to represent Galen, and Persy to represent Stephanie )
The blood Debt that Antoine owe to Hades was because of the death of his mother. Antoine had a hand in killing Hades mother, and in order to save his own pathetic self he sold Persy.
And at last began the sad and devastating love story between Persy and Hades. Between Hade and disgusting of a younger sister Ellie, but mostly Hades, began to exact revenge on Persy.
I’m not going to get into what they had done to her, since you can read it in the previous book, but what I WILL say, it is beyond F up.
Once the blood debt is paid Hades and Persy can have their HEA.. or whatever.
Now let’s jump right into present time.
This book has my feeling in a tornado.
I’m not sure how I felt about Hades being the ML still and getting a HEA. I just cannot get over or forgive him, his sister, Persy father or anyone else that had direct assistance in what they did to Persy.
But seeing and reading about how Persy forgave the wrong doings of her father, and mother and etc. I just had to smh at her, because HOW?!?!?!?!
After everything that was done to you, there will NEVER be a forgiving bone in my body. I think it was the fact that she forgave her father, who expected her to die at Hades hands. Or maybe it was the treatment he dealt her before he sent her to Hades, and the afterwards. SMH what a worthless man. That made me realize that Persy just had a big forgiving heart. *Shrug*
And speaking of worthless people, can we talk about Hades little sister Ellie really quickly. This woman is trash as well. In the beginning of Hades book 1, I felt bad for her. The way she was devastated in losing her mother, and how badly that affected her. I thought she and Persy were bounding over having Mama Fairgood in their lives.
BUT NO!
I really don’t understand why Ellie hates Persy, she is a victim, and was deeply affected by the loss as well. Even towards the end of the story she still had hatred towards Persy, which I find unbound.
But even with these pet peeves I actually really enjoy reading this book. I love reading about the changes Hades was willing to make, to prove to Persy that he wants her forgiveness. I love that he doesn’t take advantage of her loss of memory…. Well as much as he could’ve taken advantage of her. And I LOVE that Persy doesn’t simply accept things how they are. She actually goes out and find the answers to her past.
There is another story in this book which has to do with Persy sister and her relationship, but I didn’t care much for that. My main focus is the main story.
Now Hades might be many things, but mannnn he sounds sexy as F. See I want to hate on Hades but…. This book makes it damn hard to not also be part of those readers who wants to ignore the past and pay attention to the now. lol
Let me just say this , from reading all the other books, what I did learn is that them Fairgood Men love hard and fight even harder for forgiveness.
I’m gonna leave this review with one of my favorite scenes, since I feel that this scene really shows Persy in her finest. And Hades being well Hades.
“Just the ripping sound of the ropes’ hooks tearing away from where she anchored them beneath the bed. And then she’s on her back, and Hades is on top of her in an instant.
“You’ve been punching me 24/7 for days- not hours -days,” he rasps, his voice the coarsest grade of sandpaper. “And you think you get to leave me here while you go look up presents for your beer ( bish ) ex?”
Stephanie should be scared. His big body is thundering with rage. But she just smirks and says, “There he is. I wondered when you would show back up. Hi, Hades.”
