Novikke thought there was no such thing as a night elf with honor... until she met Aruna.

After Aruna helps Novikke escape her imprisonment at a night elf outpost, they retreat into the depths of the night elves’ forest.

Novikke is relieved beyond measure. Aruna finally came to her aid. She begins to think she might be able to trust him, that he might really care for her. But he still seems uncertain about whether he made the right decision in helping her.

Things only get more complicated when they’re ambushed by a group of Ardanian soldiers—a rescue for Novikke, and a death sentence for Aruna.

As Novikke learns of the Ardanians’ plans to invade the forest, she realizes how much her feelings about the army have changed since she met Aruna. As she searches for a way to free him, she’s forced to decide where her loyalties truly lie.

She can’t have it both ways. Either she makes herself an enemy of Ardani… or she lets Aruna die.

100 times better than book 1

Book 2 was sooooo much more interesting, in the sense of more dilemma, backstabbing, controversy, despair, and love. The humans ask the night elf to take them to the ruins of his kind and as ridiculous as that sounds, heading into enemy territory is never smart. It had a poetic ending, and I’m speed typing this review so I can see what cause and effect the author is going to do for the beginning of book 3. Because that was such a good ending.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This picks up right after the events of book 1. This time, the fantasy/action plot takes precedence over the romance one, but I didn't mind at all. I enjoyed how the romance between Aruna and Novikke is, by all accounts, somewhat instalovey - and yet it's developed in a believable way still as doubts creep into their relationship. I also really enjoyed the shift in power dynamics these two have over the course of this book.

Additionally I have to say I really like Neyrin. I look forward to knowing whether or not his relationship with Kadani will be explained a little more - if not, then hopefully it's a good avenue for an additional novel!

The writing and characterization are just as solid as they were in first book, too.

Thank you to Booksirens and the author, Nina K. Westra, for providing a copy of Sacrifice (Elves of Ardani book 2). I have reviewed honestly.

Sacrifice features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
○ Fantasy
○ Enemies to lovers
○ New Adult
○ Elves
○ Forbidden romance

My overall rating for Sacrifice is…

4 Stars!

Book two of the Elves of Ardani series took me on an unexpected ride, with unpredictable twists and turns and new characters to dissect. I found this book just as fast paced as the previous and loved how the world building progressed. I was a little disappointed that we didn't see as much sexual tension in this one, but I'm just being picky because I loved Aruna and Novikke's undeniable attraction in the first book. The ending was brutal and gave me the chills and I am so eager to see what happens next. Overall, a stunning sequel to a series fans of Sarah J Maas will love.

A Choice to Make . . .

Continuing from Book 1, Aruna helps Novikke escape her imprisonment by the night elves. He has shown she can trust him and she is thinking he might really care about her. But when they are ambushed by Ardanian soldiers, Novikke is “rescued” by her people but Aruna will lose his life. She needs to decide what side she chooses to follow now. The Ardanians’ plans to invade the forest have let her see that her people are not perfect either.

As Novikke begins to search for some way to free Aruna, she realizes she is making her choice because she must either become an enemy of her people or let Aruna die. Will she regret her decision? Or is it the only one her heart will allow her to make?

Another rousing adventure continues with the story of Aruna and Novikke in book #2 Sacrifice.
The two leads continue their struggles to traverse the complexities of duty, loyalty and the burgeoning feelings between them. When Aruna is captured by Novikke’s people the stakes become even higher.
A well written story full of high drama, suspense and a literally doozy of a cliffhanger ending!

Book 2 in the series- need to read in order.

Picks up after the escape of book 1 with the 3 unlikely allies.

Loyalty is tested as they try to make their way out of the forest. How do you reconcile what you used to believe with what you do now?

A gripping fantasy that held my attention until the last page. Need to read book 3 to continue the story.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A kind of fantasy version of an "captured by Idian braves" story, It is well written and good in worldbuilding. In a world were humans and sunelves are at war the nightelves are feared and hated dangerous creatures living in a magical forest. Novikke a female courier is captured by them and taken into their woods.
I deduct one star for cutting one story in 3 separate novels.

Novikke and Aruna are very interesting characters within this world. Where it seems the two might be getting closer and accepting of each other, Ardanian soldiers arrive on the scene. Be prepared there is a cliff hangar, but don't let that deter you from reading the story.

Because I'm a dummy who only skims blurbs if I ever read it, it wasn't the direction I was expecting the story to go but I still enjoyed it.

I loved the refined characterizations and the expansion of the plot. The angst is delicious, the theological conflict is surprisingly deep while it still manages to be a light-hearted read.

It be like that sometimes

I really enjoyed the first book, but this book made me angry. I despised Novikke for the majority of the book. Her cowardice sickened me and felt like a betrayal. Thankfully, she redeems herself and made me want to continue to read about her journey. I'm ready for the next one 🤪

Outstanding

Great characters, easy to follow world, good vs evil...well, who is really all good or all evil. Moral issues...what would you do for friends, or even enemies? Who judges? Twists that you don't see coming and a strong female who is finding out just how far she can be pushed!

Novikke is a moron

I'm sick of characters being written to be like "I expect you to kill your own people and betray them to help me, but don't you dare expect me to do the same for you because I'm morally superior and you're a savage". It's such a piss weak way to write a character and lacks any creativity and brain cells.

Boring. Between the first and second book it was like I was reading the same book just with a different twist. Awful character development.

Not bad

Not life changing but an interesting set of characters and an entertaining story progression. Not impressed with characters, but I did find a few interesting.

Great follow-up to book #1...I started to get a ménage à trois vibe for a hot minute, but I was wrong 😂😂

Lots of action in this one, romance ebbed and flowed.
