A thin line of warm light appeared at the edge of my vision, growing broader and brighter.

Until a demon leaned over the edge of the pod, flickering light dancing over his red scaled features, dark horns jutting up through his short black hair.

This time, I was the one who screamed.
The sound of my voice in my ears shocked me back to reality.
It wasn’t a nightmare, it wasn’t some hell or some devil.
It was just another alien, like the dozens of species we’d met on the Dream.
I sat up, coughing, pulling my sweater tight around me.
“Thank you.”
My throat was clogged from disuse. How long had I been asleep?
“Where’s this? Where’re the others?”
The demon guy stepped back from the sides of the pod, a blank look of incomprehension across his face.
Oh no. That couldn’t be right.
“Do you understand me?”
Nothing.
Right then.
There hadn’t been much in the manual about this.
Statistically, it wasn’t totally impossible that the pod could end up on a world that could sustain intelligent life, yet hadn’t been contacted by the Galactic Alliance.
Heck, that’d describe Earth for most of its history.
No Alliance, no translator.
Uh oh.

I enjoyed reading the first book, but this second one is even better than the first. The storyline is filled with action and adventure, and the characters are great. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.

I didn't think I would...

I didn't think I would rate this book this high, don't get me wrong I really liked Kyla and Ryven our main couple. Both of them are smart and curious! But it took awhile for the book to get to the parts of this series that I find most interesting which is the world of the Makers, that is what makes this so different than your usual trope ridden alien romance. But once the book finally got there it flew by for me. I am in love with the mystery of the world of the Makers! Highly recommend this book and the series. Onto book three!

great read!

Kyla’s escape pod lands on a world inhabited by genetically engineered warriors, created to fight the wars of their makers or provide entertainment. Only, the makers are long gone and their creations have been left behind to create a life of their own with limited knowledge of the makers technology there are many secrets to unravel. Kyla needs to find a way to activate her comm to contact her friends. Luckily Ryven, the red scaled horned warrior that released her from her pod, is just as curious about the makers technology and it willing to help.

4&1\2terrific 🌟s for Reaver's Claim

I've been waiting for book 2 in this series and it was a wonderful read. Ryven is a huge Red warrior with horns we met briefly in the first book. He promised Sarah that he would continue to look for others like her . Well the day finally came when he was heading back to his workshop the trap he set in the river caught more than fish it was another pod and in it was Kyla. He wants to know everything about her and realizes very early how intelligent she is. Kyla awakes to a big read Alien that takes good care of her. They can't communicate yet but they definitely share a love of mechanics they work together to repair a machine Kyla just doesn't know it's a teaching machine that will help her learn their language and history. Yes, their are misunderstandings, but they work last them and work together and journey to find Sarah. On their journey more of the mystery of the makers is revealed but with each answer a new question arises. Ryven and Kyla encounter friends and foes alike and work together to solve all problems they face. And as they work together love ,passion and acceptance bond them together! I'm looking forward to the next in the series. Totally recommend🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥

Engaging, addictive and fun to read

This second book in the series kept me up reading all night long! Kyla and Ryven were perfect for each other. Although at first it was rough going, they grew closer with each adventure. I loved the whole Mr fix it vibe they shared, that innate curiosity and need to solve riddles as well as their shared love of exploring new knowledge. Throw in a few death defying opportunities and a murder cat, and you get this unputdownable book! I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series!

Good

Ryven and Kyla

Stranded on an alien world when the ship they were on exploded, a group of human women struggle to find their way on a hostile planet.
Kyla wakes when Ryven finds her escape pod and opens it. Ryven is fascinated with the technology of the makers, but has little actual knowledge of it. Between Kyla’s know-how, and Raven’s curiosity, the two are able to overcome their language barrier, before heading out into the world to try and find the other human women who were stranded too.

This is an enjoyable alien romance, with big alien heroes, a little danger, and a planet that isn’t quite human-friendly.
Second in the series, it is important that you read the first book because this one picks up where that one left off, and there are interactions with the characters from that book.
Fast paced, there is plenty of action and adventure to go with the romance, and some nice loos threads of overarching background story to link to the next book in the series.
An enjoyable sci-fi romance for fans of alien heroes.

This is the story of Kyla the tech-minded one and Raven, the red guy with horns who happens to be something of a tinkerer nerd type himself. As the second one to wake up from the escape pods, and because we saw Raven meet the first pair in the first book, Kyla’s quest is to reunite with Sarah.

Errors:
“…he’d was more than capable of protecting her.” — he
“…on one of the examine tables.” — examination

This couple also has an elder guiding them, or at least playing sidekick. I really thought Albak’s thald-pulled gypsy caravan was cool. And what wasn’t to like about trade relations?

I wish these were longer, and that I knew how many women there were at the beginning. But I like the philosophy of this heroine: “The old ways were crappy,” I decided. “Let’s figure out how to build a different sort of future.”

I enjoy this series. Like many series you should start with book 1 to fully understand the situation. Loved this hero and heroine. After one initial stupid misunderstanding they were on the Same page and in sync. The story has a plot line and a purpose. It is not just focused on the couple and getting to know each other. Enjoyable quick read.
Didn’t love how expertly a male who has literally never seen a female before knew just how to please her orally and in multiple positions without much guidance and was able to last so long his first time at bat.

Virgin rating:
Innocence of virgin hero: 5/5
Innocence in losing it: 2/5
Build up to losing it: 3/5
Hotness of losing it: 3/5
Busted touching himself: n0

This is an adventurous series

ThiS whole series is like an adventurous treasure hunt with alien warrior clone races without any females. The human women are spread all around the planet in evacuation pods that put them in a hibernation. As the ladies leave their pod they seem to find male warrior to protect them and them help find their friends... This pair have some interesting adventures, A flood, A few interesting animals and domestic wooly mammoth like beasts that pulll a caravan, the then they find her lady friend only to go to the hexagon lab to try to reach more of the missing women. Discovering secret areas in the lab and computers to figure out. I am excited to see what will happen next...it a great story.

There's more

I am eagerly devouring these books. Each one is focused on a different female, but all human and from the same ship. All of whom crash landed on an inhabited planet in escape pods. None of the women seem to have landed near each other and while there seems to be a universal language on the planet, none of the women speaks it. Each book also gives the reader more information about this one planet and the variety of species on said planet. Thus the main characters may change from book to book but the suspense of the shady history of the world and its chief species builds. Can't wait to learn more in the next several books.

These are good books but the first two are pretty repetitive. The alien and woman find each other, they can’t communicate, the alien puts her in a pod that downloads language and history into her brain, the human women learn the same thing about the world they crash landed on, and then they find out a few more details about the makers as they explore their technology/sites. It could be the author breaks with this pattern in later books, but the book descriptions for the rest of the series are vague and I suspect they also repeat similar story lines. This series isn’t for me, but I will keep an eye out for her other books to see if their plots vary more.

I volunteered to read and review Reaver's Claim . This is the second story in the THAXIAN Mates series . Ryven of the Vak,'ki clan comes upon a metal cylinder a match of the one he found before , half buried in the muddy bank . Upon inspection he finds a woman Kyla like the human women Sarah that was mated to the Aerie Warrior Darkath . Together with their furry pet Tali they travel to find the other human Sarah . On their travels they are joined by the elder Albak while battling creatures on the way . This story is fantastic, action packed and interesting . I highly recommend reading .

5 stars -Will definitely read again. Rare.
4 stars- Good book, I enjoyed it, not too many editing issues.
3 stars - It was fine. I may or may not read the author again.
2 stars- Bad editing, bad story.
1 star - I will blacklist every book this author writes and never read another again. Also rare.

These are good. Same old humans crash, aliens have no women, alien saves woman, they live happily ever after. But, the aliens ate interesting. And I can't wait to find out more about the makers.

I liked it. There was some action. Though not terrible, the action scenes felt underdeveloped, and they weren't very descriptive. There are what I would call "montages" of some important stuff, like "five days have passed, we did this, and this, and that". Sometimes the period of time wasn't even mentioned, so I had trouble figuring out how much time passed. The characters were Ok, but a bit shallow, and the overarching plot didn't advance much. It was entertaining, and easy to read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book two deepens the emotional stakes while expanding the world. The dynamic of waking up alone, afraid, and facing a literal horned stranger is intense, but the slow burn that follows is genuinely touching. The language barrier trope is used cleverly here, and it adds to the vulnerability and curiosity between the leads. I especially loved how capable the heroine was even in the unknown—resilient and sharp, just like the writing.

I must have read a completely different book.
Kyla was an idiot, she even admits this herself.
She was supposed to be smart and clever but when Ryven put her in learning pod so she could understand him and know everything, she got angry?? So angry that she decided to out in the jungle alone and push him off a hill 🤣
He did everything to help and she was like, yep can't trust him 😅
Why are women in so many of those books like total morons. its sad.

Ryven and Kyla were made for each other in this book, and if that isn’t enough to get you to read it, then the back story will. The authors pull you in as they create the mystery surrounding the Reavers’ origins. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Exciting

I’m really enjoying this new series because of the aliens and the mysterious Makers. I loved the curiosity of the MMC and how he did everything he could to make the MFC happy. I thought she was a tad bit selfish initially but she redeemed herself by the end of the book. I can’t wait for the next story.

Horned Reaver

I very much enjoyed Ryven and Kyla’s story. Especially since there was a pet cat lol. This brought more knowledge about the Makers and what they were doing with the Reavers, but there are still questions and pieces to the puzzle of the Reavers world that will need answers. Definitely recommend.

Fun and entertaining

Kyla and Ryven's was fun and entertaining. To watch the evolution of their romance and growing admiration for each other, kept you turning the pages. This and the intriguing new world unfolding.
Can't wait to start the next book in this series.

An exciting book that will definitely keep your attention. The two main characters who are both quite inquisitive, definitely have their set backs, but also many romantic episodes. Besides there being tense moments, you’ll also find yourself smiling.

Reaver's Claim

So your spaceship is broken and the jerks in the other end decided to detach and leave the rest of you to get into the escape pods. Then a large red devil looking alien takes you out of your crashed pod and you can't understand each other. Lots of adventure!

Wowzer!

Ryven and Kyla’s story in Book 2 of the Thaxian Warrior’s Mates is even better than Book 1. It has action, heat, mystery, adventure and an adorable alien cat! Excellent read!

Great adventures

Loved the endless curious and tinkering couple. Would have loved to see them discover more of the trio domed lab and none of the flood, and marauders.
Hope they find out more in next book and set up trade negotiations with other tribes for a new golden era

very good

I like this series, really different, keeps your interest and when you read the sneak peek for the next one - yep ya know you’ll be reading it next. Oh, start with the first one, although it can be read alone, it’s much more interesting with book one’s backstory.

Excellent

I lo e this world and the mystery of what happened to "The Makers." Awesome sci-fi! I noted this in the book as it struck me, “How you’re born doesn’t have to limit what you do with your life.
