Penn Westbrook thinks he’s the one for me.

It’s not that I’m entirely opposed to the idea, but I’ve got a lot going on.

Aside from school obligations and my own extracurricular interests, I’ve got a crazy family life. My four chaotic siblings are enough to deal with on their own, but out of nowhere, my biological father returns and wants me to be a part of the new family he found while he was away.

Not to mention I’m stuck between my two best friends, Erica and Kara, who can’t seem to get along but won’t tell me why.

But I’m just happy that Kara finally got permission to play on the boys’ hockey team this season—the very same one where Penn is the captain.

As I come to terms with all this—and my own inner battles—I can’t help but wonder how I’m supposed to keep myself from falling for Penn when he promises to be there to catch me.

“What kind of things do you like?”
“Aside from you, you mean?” Penn teases.
“I’m not a thing”

“Opposites attract, Violet,” Penn says flippantly. “You
might be a woman of science, but I’m a man of chemistry,
and I know it to be true.”

“I’m sorry this night
kind of sucked.”
He shakes his head as he smiles. “All nights with you
are good, Violet.”

“I never have anything that’s just
for me.”
The corner of Penn’s mouth ticks up. “You’re wrong
about that.”
I eye him skeptically. “What do you mean?”
“I think I’m just for you.”

Gosh!!!! I had been putting off this book for the longest time and I regret that so so much. Thank you for BookSirens for giving me this free ARC.

Violet's life is far away from easy. When she notices that her 2 bestfriends, Kara and Erica, aren't speaking to each other anymore for unknown reasons. When her biological father messages Violet out of the blue wanting to reunite again after years of him missing out on her life, Violet is stressed especially when she hasn't received any feedback from the college she applied to. All of that needs to be put aside when it's Kara's first hockey game on the boys hockey team after fighting to earn her spot in it. When Kara invites Violet to a party, she agrees much to Erica's complains. There she meets Penn, the captain of the hockey team and the guy who stood up for Kara when she wanted to join the team. When he asks her out in the cutest way, she just can't say no to him.

I adooooored this book in every possible way <3333333 I loved everything about it! I loved Violet and her siblings' banter. I loved Kara but most of all I LOVED PENN. Penn is now one of my fave book boyfriendsssssss. Penn is the literal meaning of a golden retriever boy! He was so cute and kind and just understanding and his past made my heart crumble. He was just so so cute and I wish there were actual men like him out there who care for their partners and love them with all the love that he holds for Violet. Every little interaction that these 2 had, had me blushing (i'm actually not joking T_T) and swinging my feet in the air!!!!!

I really recommend this book with all my heart!!!!!!! This book was such a cutesy, light, and fast read and really hope people give it the recognition that it deserves.

Penn and Violet are my new favorite book couple- nothing can top it. I love their relationship and how they are together. Their love and care for the other is so sweet and it’s such a wonderful thing.

Penn was such a mature character for his age and I loved Mary. She is such a delight and her and Jeff’s relationship 🥺🥺 I love it so much- they’re definitely old people goals

I loved Violet’s thoughts and feelings with her father. It’s so relatable for me and honestly was the thing I needed to help myself on some decisions. I love how he was a constant part of the storyline too. He didn’t just come and leave the novels plot. It wasn’t just about her friend group or Penn. Which was amazing.

I love how Violet was a baker- BECAUSE OF SCIENCE. My ladies in STEM- this is your early representation. Her treats and delicious desserts she makes are probably the thing I love about Violet the most. She loves the experimentation of baking and she’s able to make everything her own in some ways. While also sharing her love with everyone she loves & then some.

I loved how Hockey was how Violet and Penn bonded- simply just because she didn’t have to fake her feelings or thoughts for the game. She was already into it, and it wasn’t another Erica- IYKYK.

Speaking of Erica- I didn’t like her AT ALL. From the first page she was introduced to the last page she was on- I didn’t like her. She didn’t seem like a “best friend” at all. I definitely enjoyed having more Kara than Erica. Idk about you but I just have Kara in my head as the shorter sporty girl in school. And I loved that girl in school.

I definitely definitely recommend that you read this ASAP. I loved it so much and it definitely is my favorite Jennifer Ann Shore novel- and I’ve read a lot of them 😂😂

This could be one of the best YA romances of the year. Kudos to the author for writing such a realistic storyline. It may have been a while since I was a teen, but the circumstances of the relationship ring true.

Violet is a remarkable lead who has a pretty complicated life. Between friends and family, she needs a break. Penn is the break needed, even if she didn't know it.

Riveting at times, this book captivates the reader. There is enough angst to meet the needs of that audience. The sweet romance between Violet and Penn is simply wonderful. A truly beautiful representation of the romance between two kids in their late teens.

Fans of YA romance will simply love this book. Fans of Jennifer Ann Shore will want to read this book. Well written and flowing so smoothly, it is a pleasure to read.

Jennifer Ann Shore is definitely one of my favorite writers, because her ability to take what apparently are “people next door” and make them amazing MCs is outstanding.

Many YA romances get this exact characters, with cliche personality that even though I love, they are not relatable. Every Shirley character is relatable.

In this story we have a kid that has a very invasive family, a guy that likes her that’s not a jerk.
A friend that is a jerk and other one that makes mistakes when expressing herself about something. I love the story and it mixes perfectly a possible reality with love and conflicts about becoming an adult.

Erica was a witch. Chloe is a dictator and Penn is a book boyfriend.
A MUST read!

I was super excited to receive this arc because Jennifer is quickly becoming an author I trust and I am so happy that I wasn’t wrong with my instincts.

I haven’t read many sports romance books but this has definitely convinced me to change that and start reading more.

I personally really love the way Jennifer writes high school students and their relationships with not only their peers but their families. The writing never fails to help me view the story in my head as it feels very relatable and realistic.

“I mean, I know he’s your dad, but you don’t have to feel obligated to talk to him.”

This was too important for me not to highlight or address. You are never obligated to give anyone, blood related or not anything if they don’t treat you the way you deserve.

The minute Penn was introduced as a character I knew he was going to be a favourite for me and the more I read about him the more I knew I was correct in that assumption.

I fell in love with Violet and began to see myself in a lot of her characteristics and how she was feeling in certain parts of the book. Especially because I think we have all had a friend that we felt was taking advantage of us and our kindness or just didn’t treat you right in general.

“There’s no reason to downplay your emotions just because someone else might be going through something”

I wanted to include this quote because I think it’s really important to remember. Everyone is facing their own problems, it doesn’t matter how small it may seem to you in moments compared to others. You’re allowed to feel however you want.

This is probably one of my favourite books by Jennifer so far and I would definitely revisit this in the future.

Thank you to BookSirens and Jennifer Ann Shore for this Arc!

I loved this. As I do everything Jennifer writes. And I say that in every review I write. But it’s true. Violet is such a great character. She loves science and uses said science to bake delicious treats for her family and friends. She seems closer to one of her sisters than the other and I would have liked to see this dynamic explored a little more. It’s easy to see her youngest sister is envious of Violet’s relationship with June.
Her friendships with Kara and Erica were night and day. I was glad when Violet finally stood up for herself.
Penn is a bit cute and probably the perfect distraction for Violet. He was easy going and sweet. Lived with his Nana and was pretty mature for 17/18.
Violet’s relationship with her stepfather Ryan was so beautiful to read. It’s refreshing to read a stepparent who isn’t a monster.

This is a great book to read in one sitting. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

This was a wonderful YA romance. I have been looking forwards to it for a while and was so pleased since it met all my expectations and went beyond. The main characters had crazy-good, off-the-charts chemistry but it went further with them being there for each other. It’s only a single POV but I didn’t need Penn’s perspective. I loved the side plots and the way the hero MC sorts them out. It was a great book and I’m so excited for whatever Jennifer writes next!

Just for you is a young adult romance perfect for those summer days when you feel like reading something fresh, whether by the pool, the beach or at home.

I really liked Violet's story and it was what I needed to read right now. Just for you talks about the importance of second chances, forgiveness and relationships of love, friendship and family.

The love story with Penn is a delight, one of those that leaves your heart soft. Penn is very sweet with Violet and respects her at all times and waits before taking any step in their relationship. Violet's friendship with Kara and Erica goes through different stages, but I'm glad that all three come to their senses and solve their problems. And I love the family dynamic.

If you like sweet love stories, I recommend it. As I said, it reads quickly and leaves you wanting more.

This is exactly what I needed.

Violet is such a great main character. She's so relateable and well -written. I loved her character development and how She started to fully examine both herself, and the relationships in her life. I'm glad that she finally found the strength to stand up for herself and express herseIf more. Her journey and growth throughout this book was amazing.

Penn is just the best. He was exactly what Violet needed even if she didn't know what that was herself. And he did it whilst staying true to himself. This book couple are definitely going to stick with me for a while.

I loved the message of not holding onto relationships just because you've known someone for a Long time. Sometimes it truly is better to let someone go than to hold onto a relationship that's not working anymore.

Overall, this was a beautifully written story and was an excellent, quick read.

Violet has a crazy home life. Younger siblings are in her space. Sometimes she just wants alone time. Then she has friends at school, but one in particular is always taking advantage of her. But one friend that goes to a different school is her bestie. While at a hockey game, she meets Penn. She’s not sure what to think of him. But the more time she spends with him she realizes what a decent guy he is. This book is about family, friendship, and relationships. Just a sweet all around read that was a joy to read.

When I found out that this book is a YA romance sport I immediately read it.

Just for you is a very sweet story between two teenagers, Penn and Violet. But it also talks about friendship and affection for the family.

The love story is so simple but true and easy.
There are no events that separate the protagonists, which happens in almost all romances, and yet the book is not boring at all.

I really loved it, if you're looking for something that warms your heart I absolutely recommend it.

Violet lives with her mother, stepfather, and her four half-siblings. Her father is a war correspondent who hasn’t been in her life. Violet has two best friends since they were little. Erica and Kara can’t stand each other and Violet is caught in the middle. Kara, who goes to a different school, can finally play on the hockey team. A hockey team that is led by captain Penn Westbrook. A captain who is very interested in Violet.

This book was a great palate cleanser. I finished it in maybe five hours total. Violet’s father is a subplot. It wasn’t as a big part of the plot as I thought it would be. The main plot is the conflict between the two best friends and her relationship with Penn. I will say Erica is a toxic friend.

It was a cute read. A perfect book after Divine Rivals to help clear any funk that might have slowly started. Four books done before mid-January is a score for me.

Violet's in her senior year and occupied with homework and her hobbies. Family life is pretty chaotic when you have four younger siblings, and it doesn't get easier when your biological father suddenly wants to take more part in your life. Besides that, Violet's best friends, Kara and Erica, aren't talking to each other, and they won't tell her why. But Kara's finally got to play on the boy's hockey team, and Violet is happy for her. When Penn Westbrook, the captain of the hockey team, shows interest in Violet, she's not sure if she's got room for any more complicated relationships in her life.

Young love, wonderful characters and hockey - what more can you ask for in a YA novel?! I love Violet and Penn and their interactions; I sat with a smile on my lips while reading, and if it hadn't been an ebook I read on my phone I probably would have hugged the book several times! I'm also very fond of Kara, Violet's mom and stepdad, Charlie (Penn's friend and teammate), and Nana, Penn's grandmother, so there's no lack of characters to cheer for. Of course, there's opposite's too, which makes the good qualities stand out.

I like that Shore brings several relatable subjects to the table. To live with half-siblings and a step parent, the absence of a biological parent, loosing your parents at a young age, have a fall out with your friends, feeling insecure in new situations; things a youth can relate to. As an adult it might have been a while, but we've all been there, and recognition is high. I appreciate that Violet has a good stepdad in Ryan, who she considers her father more than her biological one. Often step parents are portraited more adversely, so I'm glad Shore shows us the opposite.

After having read some of Jennifer Ann Shore's books I now consider her one of my favorite authors! I'm grateful I have more stories to dive into!

After reading nothing but books in the dark romance/mafia trope recently I wanted something to cleanse my palate so to speak and even though YA romance isn’t a genre I would usually read something about the blurb for Just For You caught my attention. This was a somewhat sweet and gentle story featuring Violet and Penn without the usual high school bully aspect which is so popular right now. Penn isn’t a bad boy and Violet isn’t his victim/love interest. They’re just two average teenagers with most of the focus of this book being on the family dynamics and relationships. I did feel that even though I’m from a different generation, coming from a large family myself I could relate to Violet. Sometimes all you want is peace, quiet and space. Her friends are perfectly described and I’m sure anyone reading this book will think back to their own school days because they’re reminded of someone they knew. All in all this book was a perfect portrayal of the dynamics of being a teenager without all the drama.

Thank you to Jennifer Ann Shore for providing me with an ebook copy of Just for You to read and review. What a wonderful story of growing up; with all the highlights and challenges that come along with your senior year of highschool. I found my self reminiscing as I read since many of the experiences of the characters in the story reminded me of myself at that age. I know that so many readers will feel this same sense of connection to the characters as well, some even more than myself. There was so much happening with so many of the side characters that I do wish for a bit more information on the resolution of certain relationships/challenges, but Shore was able capture so many emotions through the highs and lows of the character's lives and overall was able to portray true growth in many of the characters as they overcame the challenges and dramatics of their final year in highschool. This was overall a feel-good story that I will recommend.

This is the first book I've read by Jennifer Ann Shore. She wrote well with a great storyline and with wonderful characters. I was pulled in and was invested in the lives of the characters.

I completely enjoyed this sweet, young adult story that was so real to life. It's been awhile since I've read one of those. For once, I want to share a book with my daughter. Violet has family issues (big and small), friend issues, and then meets a boy. Penn is the perfect boyfriend and we all need a Penn in our lives. I love how it all worked out. Such a satisfying read.

Just for You

This is a book with a realistic storyline.

Violet is the lead character with a complicated life. Between friends and family, she is due a break.

She loves science and with that science she makes delicious treats for her family.

Penn is exactly the break that she needs, she just doesn't know it yet.

This book got me from the first page.

Violet and Penn have a sweet romance that is just wonderful.

YA romance lovers will love this book.

It is so well written and smoothly it is a book you read in one go.

Jennifer Ann Shore's books are my new best reads. Having recently discovered Only You in Everything, I found myself keen to immerse myself once more in the teen worlds that she creates, where complications are the normal sort of fodder expected for teens - friends, boys, confidence, self-image, hopes , aspirations, families.

In Just for You, our main character is Violet and we follow things from her perspective. Violet comes from a big family and is the eldest of a brood of half siblings, her mother having remarried a man called Ryan, who is an exemplary step-father, Violet being wholly accepted by him. The tensions in Violet's home life stem from the chaos of her sharing her space with younger relatives rather than uncertainty from her step-parent. However, Violet's lack of relationship with her father does come to light during the course of the book and goes some way to explain how she approaches her involvement with people.

Violet has two good friends, Erica and Kara, but they are in conflict, this being a subplot in the book along with Violet's absent father. The main action of the book is centred around Violet and Penn, who she meets at one of Kara's hockey games and we follow Violet as she embarks uncertainly into a new area of closeness with a significant other, with knowledge of the experience she has had previously in familial and friend relationships.

Set in the world of high school and senior year as well as drawing on the team play of school hockey, you have everything you'd expect from a coming-of-age book: the separation that occurs between friends when boyfriends arrive; the need for adult space in the face of younger demanding family members; wondering if the person showing interest in you is right for you. What I also liked about Shore's book was having a female character being accepted into a male team and being successful, as unlikely as that may seem.

I love books like this as they are refreshingly simple - that is not to say that they lack depth but they deal with fairly real situations in an adult way, with engaging characters, warmth, maturity and a lightness of humour at times which just makes them really easy and enjoyable to read.

It is just the tonic I need from a book right now and Shore is providing it in copious spoonfuls.

Jennifer Ann Shore writes some of my favorite candy books. With a comforting and familiar writing style and characters that ring both real and unique, her YA works are quick, delicious reads. Her latest, Just For You (Indie published, 2022) is no exception, and it proved the perfect read for a stormy summer night.

Violet is in her senior year of high school. College applications have been submitted, and she and her friends are in that waiting stage where senioritis hits the hardest. Her two best friends, Kara and Erica, had a falling out with each other, and Violet tries to split her attention between the two. It makes things a lot easier since Kara goes to a different school. Kara is on her school’s varsity hockey team, and Violet is her biggest fan even though the team is her school’s rival and Erica’s boyfriend is on that team. While at one of Kara’s games, she meets Penn Westbrook, and she can’t deny the attraction.

As if juggling two friends who don’t get along and a first love interest in one’s senior year isn’t enough, Violet’s absentee father is trying to rekindle a relationship with her because he wants her to be part of his new family.

Shore doesn’t write pretty but empty wallflowers; her female characters are bold, intelligent, determined, and fierce. They’re flawed and figuring things out in that difficult not-quite-an-adult time, but unlike so many romances, they’re not defined by their love interests and they don’t have to change how they look or act to win the guy. There are characters who fit that mold, Erica being one, but what Shore does with them is noticeably different than her heroines.

Shore depicts realistic chaos with characters full of heart. The relationships that Violet has built tend to be healthy, and those that aren’t are relationships she’s working on setting boundaries with. Her relationship with her stepfather is possibly my favorite part of the novel. (Well, other than when Penn brings her a succulent instead of flowers and when Kara throws a punch.)

Penn’s kiss and Violet’s baked goods aren’t the only things that taste like sugar; this novel is sweet but not in a way that’ll leave you with a tooth or tummy ache.

Read this book.

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review*

"Just for You" was a book I was super excited to dive in, with blurb and cover that immediately grabbed my attention.
I'm left with mixed feelings about the book itself: on one side I did enjoy the writing and characters, but for me something was missing. The pull to jump back into the story immediately after a break from reading (or finding it hard to stop at a certain chapter because I have to sleep, etc) just wasn't there.

In ways I could definitely relate to the main heroine (Violet) and her home life and friendships, but I found myself thinking her reaction to some things was just too dramatic

And Penn... I loved him in a way, though some of his initial behavior still felt too overboard & rushed.

Overall, the book deals well with the subjects of friendships, complex family dynamics and life with all its chaotic moments. If you're in the mood for a quick and lighter read, this one might be just for you.

Senior high school child vs young step-siblings.

I enjoyed this story and think it is worth reading. It is good for any age and has self-discovery and light innocent romance.

Violet is the oldest child in her house. She has 4 half-siblings, all of which are a lot younger then her. The youngest is only 4 years old. Every day her life is hectic, between her siblings always getting into the things she makes for herself and into her room and taking what they want, she is struggling to have something that is just hers. She has no privacy because her siblings just rush in whenever they want. Her only peaceful time is at school, which let's face it, that isn't that peaceful either.

She does like to support her friends, so when her best friend Kara, who doesn't go to the same school, finally gets to play hockey for her own school Violet is happy to go watch her home games. After the 1st game, Violet waits for Kara to emerge from the locker room. As she is waiting she gets approached by a guy who turns out to be the captain of Kara's team. He is the one who fought to let Kara play hockey on the team, so Violet likes him just for that.

This is just the start of an innocent romance and a story of self-discovery. The hurdles that Violet faces with her family, the absentee biological father that decides he finally wants to do more with her, the friends that have danced around each other, and the discovery that a guy can except her for who she is and the only thing he wants from her is to spend time with him.

Gotta give the medal for Jennifer Ann Shore for this amazing book! Literally anything written by her is my comfort book.

'Just For You' is a not just a story of love, but also family and friendships which is sentimental and relatable to read. Penn is just so perfect like all the time (unrealistic i know) but it doesnt mean i dont love it. Violet is a unique character for me, there are times i supports her decisions in the book but sometimes i dont. But it wasnt the main point here. What truly interests me is the friendship dynamic between Erica and Violet, and also her siblings' behaviours. I just dont understand Erica, and how she could treat her friend like that, but at the same time i am also mad at Violet for allowing it. And her siblings? I didnt like them that much. I expected a more emotional outbreak or some sort of retaliation because her siblings (only some of it) just annoys me. I get it they are kids but come on! Using your things without asking permission is a no-no for me. Hard no. That's why I feel unsatisfied when Violet just forgive them and even apologize at her sisters who 'stole' her things. But overall, it was an okay book for leisure. I did enjoyed the book for most part especially with Penn.

This book was one of the cutest I have ever read.

The characters were adorable and accurate, and I would give a leg to be able to hug Violet. She was a strong teenager, who despite being overwhelmed with a very large family, always wanted to do things right. It was impossible not to love her. I truly enjoyed following her, and discovering Penn with her.
Penn is everything you want to read about a boy. He’s charming, polite, funny and gentleman…I would sell my kidney to be taken on a date with him.
Their relationship felt genuine, and I loved that there weren’t any form of toxicity between them.
The other characters brought something more to the story, and I really liked the different dynamic they had with Violet.

It’s definitely one of the best YA Romance I read, and I think I will reread it in fall!
