Trivial Pursuits: A sports romance

Rate this book
*NEW bonus chapter included*

Landon Holder is exactly the kind of man Livy Adams should stay far away from.

The flashy, flirty star defenseman for the Chicago Buffaloes is known for hooking up with women all over Chicago. Livy finds herself attracted to Landy, but his sexy good looks and charm are irrelevant. She had her heart shattered by a cheating athlete in college, and Livy vows she will never let her judgment lapse like that ever again.

Yet Livy knows she can’t spend the rest of her life focusing on building her jewelry line during the day and her evenings playing TriviaPlayOrPass! on her phone, either. Even though she does have fabulous conversations with a player named Scott, it’s time to get back in the game—in real life. While Livy tries to figure out her career path in jewelry design, she knows it’s time to take a chance on romance again, too.

But in a strange twist of fate, Livy finds herself getting to know Landy on a much deeper level. Sometimes people aren’t always as they appear to be. Just like a diamond, you have to look closely to see true clarity.

As Livy unwraps the layers around Landy to see the man behind the image, will she have a change of heart? Can she leave her past behind for a future with Landy? Or is it all a game of trivial pursuits?

If you like swoony heroes and laugh out loud moments, you'll enjoy Trivial Pursuits.

This was my first read by this author and I didn't really enjoy it. The premise sounded promising, but it's too sugary sweet and cheesy for my taste.

We only get one POV, Livy's, and unfortunately I found her character very annoying. She is 22, but reads like a 12-year-old fangirling over Landon. She overanalyses everything that Landon does and jumps to conclusions. She constantly switches between being insecure or jealous and seeing herself as different and special. I cannot count how many times I’ve heard the latter two words in relation to both characters and their relationship. "Landon did this and that just to prove how different and special I am." 🙄

The relationship development didn’t work for me, either. They keep repeating how they want to take things slow, but the story is very much based on insta-love and I didn’t find it believable. The side characters felt flat and cliché. I’m not a fan of those evil female characters used in a romance just to cause drama. That felt very old school. And it really bothered me when Landon said that things are different with Livy because he respects her. Meaning he had no respect for all the women he was with before Livy? Cool, cool.

The writing is very repetitive and there wasn’t much of a plot here. Even the narrator sounded overly sweet. But maybe she just portrayed Livy’s character perfectly.

Online gaming, addictive, fun and anonymous, and that was perfect to Livy. Imagine finding out, against ALL odds that you are playing against one of the hottest, most sought after, bachelor hockey players around! Who knew a hockey player could also have brains under all of that delicious brawn? Who knew he would also have a kind and generous heart?

Livy is man-shy. She’s been deceived and trampled on before and is determined never to fall for a man she couldn’t trust to the end. Between her fledgling jewelry business and her volunteer work, not to mention her nightly “date” online playing TriviaPlayOrPass with some Canadian guy, she told herself, her life was too full, anyway.

Hockey great Landy Holder plays his game well for the fans, both on and off the ice, but the real Landon was a well-kept secret. In public with a different woman on his arm constantly, no attachments, no emotional entanglements, kept him from being hurt and his fans happy. It’s all part of the business.

It must have been the hockey gods, or fate or something that put Livy and Landon in the same place at the same time, only to discover through some divine intervention that Landon was Livy’s mysterious online opponent! I know small world and all that, what are the odds? Two people-both have been hurt, both have an inner passion that is so delicate and fragile and both don’t want to assume anything. Its game on as the puck drops for love and two players face off for a chance at winning the Cupid Cup!

Trivial Pursuits, the latest from Aven Ellis is another winning goal for this talented author’s scorecard! Romance with a fun and flirty side, a warm and caring side and all the fears of losing one’s heart to another rolled up into one. Great dialogue, high emotional tension, want-to-hug-you characters and hot hockey hunks…what’s NOT to like, except that maybe the wait is on to see is next in a one on one against Cupid as the goalie.

I received this copy from the author, Aven Ellis in exchange for my honest review.

TriviaPlayOrPass!: Who writes the best contemporary hockey romance novels?

What does a tattooed, cat loving, elementary school volunteering, sexy black haired hockey player and a beautiful platinum blond, jewelry making, Zingers addicted, kale loving girl have in common? The addictive online trivia game, TriviaPlayOrPass! It was fate that brought them together one day at an after school program. They realized they had been playing against each other in TriviaPlayOrPass! Landon loves the witty, sarcastic fun he was able to have with Livy over the trivia questions, the fact that she saw LANDON, the goofy, trivia addict and not LANDY, the flirty, popular hockey player. Livy can’t believe she’s been playing THE Landon Holder in TriviaPlayOrPass!. On the game, they were just two people who’d never met, having fun over some trivia.

Connectivity thus far has been my favorite Aven Ellis novel, but I fell HARD in love with Landon and Livy. Livy had sworn off the athletes, those players who can’t keep their eyes on one woman, after having her heart ripped out in college by a boyfriend, but after one date with Landon, she knows he’s different. Yet she can’t force her feelings of her past out of her heart and mind, and that comes up to hurt both her and Landon a couple times. His dad hurt his mom when Landon was younger, and he vows to never treat a lady like that. He basically doesn’t date but has one night flings that mean nothing- no commitments, no settling down, until he finds Livy. So they both have pain when it comes to relationships, and it takes awhile for them to push their fears aside, but they realize they can’t be without each other. Livy wants to make a career out of making jewelry, and it was so sweet to see Landon be so supportive of her, and helping drive customers to her business.

Aven’s books have this wonderful quality about them, that allows you to simply lose yourself in her world, and find yourself smiling to yourself, sometimes shedding a tear, while reading. Her books are literally the BEST thing, like eating a cupcake with the perfect cake to frosting ratio, on a sunny and breezy Saturday with no cares in the world.

I loved that we get to catch up with Bree (married and pregnant!) from Surviving the Rachel, and of course Beckett and Aubrey from The Aubrey Rules. If you’re looking for a wonderful romance that will leave you with a smile on your face for days, pick up one of Aven’s books right away! Trivial Pursuits is book two in the Chicago on Ice series and releases April 20, 2016!

*** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***

When it’s time to settle down with Aven Ellis’s latest book it always puts a smile on my face, as I know I’m going to be in reading heaven for the next few hours, and this is what happened while reading Trivial Pursuits Livy Adams and Landon Holden story. It is book two in her Chicago On Ice series.

First off I have to say I always love what Aven does at the start of each chapter. In Breakout she gave us dating questions, in The Definition of Icing, it was chocolate and hockey facts and in The Aubrey Rules, it was the Rules that Aubrey lived by. So for Trivial Pursuits, it was, of course, trivial question. So in homage to Aven, and Livy, I have added some of my own biases trivial questions during this review!

TrivialPlayOrPass
What leafy green has more Absorbable Calcium than a small carton of milk?

As much as Livy was attracted Landon, she was always wary of him due to her past and his reputation, as a ladies man. However, there is so much more to Landon than meets the eye and with the help of an online trivia game, this is something that Livy is about to discover.

TrivialPlayOrPass
What leafy green arrived in the U.S. in the 17th century?

I had always loved Livy for the simple reason she is a girl after my own heart, not only does she love KALE!! And oh wow do I love kale (Had it for my lunch and dinner today) she is also a hopeless romantic, loves Kale, lover of romance novels, loves Kale, believes in a Happy Ever After and loves Kale.

TrivialPlayOrPass
What leafy green has more Vitamin C Than An Orange?

Landon Holder was a hot sexy hockey player so what was not to like, and it was great getting to see a side of him that the public doesn’t always get to see. Livy and Landon are such a cute couple together, I adored the connection they shared and the relationship that develops between them. Oh, and I loved Landon nickname for Livy just perfect for her and maybe me too!! ;)

TrivialPlayOrPass
What leafy green is the Queen of Vitamin A?

Aven never disappoints with her secondary characters. There is the one who is scene-stealers in a good way such as Nana she was just the best and made me laugh so many times with the things that she said. And then, of course, there is the one I wanted to bitch slap such as Kayla. I’m sure once you meet her you will want to do the same.

TrivialPlayOrPass
What leafy green belongs to the same family as cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and collards?

Yet again Aven delivers in her unique way an entertaining, sweet romantic story with a perfect epilogue for all you hopeless romantic, hockey and Kale lovers out there.

Memorable Quotes: I stare at the blinking cursor on my phone. Embarrassing. I’ve lived in the United States my entire twenty-two years of existence, and made As in history in both high school and at the University of Washington, yet I have no clue who the fourth president of my country was.

So he might be twelve or eighty, but I do get a kick out of talking to him. I’ve never come out and asked Scott921 for his story. Like how old he is, where he lives, what he does for a living. He’s online. There’s no point to anything beyond our trivia matches, or our little exchanges, even though I’ve come to look forward to them. Hmm. If only Scott921 lived in the Chicago area, was single, and looked like Landon Holder, the star defenseman of the Chicago Buffaloes, I’d propose marriage to him upon first sight.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½💻🏒💎💍

My thoughts: 🔖Page 80 of 336 Chapter Ten - It's okay but I'm not in the mood for this one either, it feels too familiar at the moment.
🔖104 Chapter Twelve - I've lost count on how many days it's been since my last reading. I'm rethinking Book 3. It's just sitting in my KU library. I'm not sure I want to read it since Aubrey outshines Livy in her own book.
🔖123 Chapter Fourteen - It's better, probably because of my mood, and that last chapter was hilarious.
🔖219 Chapter Twenty-Four - It was going well, but once again she has become a side character as they have spent a lot of time setting up Collins for Book 3.

The bonus chapter helped a lot. This story was okay. There were some moments but I felt like this story was overshadowed by side characters.

Recommend to others: Likely, it's a good series.

Friendship goals, relationship goals, wardrobe goals and career goals; that's what every Aven Ellis book I've ever read feels like to me.

First Line of Trivial Pursuits by Aven Ellis

"I stare at the blinking cursor on my cell phone."

My Thoughts on Trivial Pursuits by Aven Ellis

I could just give you a one word review, and that would be ADORABLE.  But, that wouldn't be much of a review.  Other words that spring to mind are sweet, cute, charming.  Now, it's just starting to sound like I swallowed a thesaurus.  Still, you are probably getting the picture of just how this book made me feel.

Livy is an aspiring jewelry designer, currently living at home, while she tries to build up her Etsy business.  I loved the snippets into her career.  Mostly I applauded how she didn't treat her passion as a hobby.  Instead she focuses on what she loves, and creates her dream job from that.

Landy is also pursuing his passion.  He is a professional hockey player, and he loves everything about what he does.  Including all the social media, the personal appearances, the meet and greet with fans.  I appreciated how much he gave back to everyone around him.

The twist is that both Livy and Landy know each other in real life, but also on-line as they play an anonymous Trivial Pursuit game, and have become friends.  I was afraid this might overplay, but they find out within the first few chapters just who they are really playing.  Then the games really start.  The love games!  Because they instantly see something special about the other.

The romance is whirlwind, but very believable.  These adorable characters deserve strong partners, and I was struck by how similar they were in following their passions, and in their core values.  I loved watching their relationship grow roots, take hold, and thrive.

Overall think cute, then think even cuter than cute.  And that's Trivial Pursuits by Aven Ellis.

Who should read Trivial Pursuits by Aven Ellis?

If you're a sucker for a good love story, with lots of heart-melting moments, then of course I recommend you read this.  Fans of Aven's previous books such as Waiting for Prince Harry or Green Tea Latte To Go should also love this.  Or if you enjoy authors like Rachel Hollis or Rachel Harris, then I'd also suggest this book to you.

Thanks to Aven Ellis for giving me a copy of this book for review consideration.  As always, no matter what the source of the book, you get my honest, unbiased opinion.

*Book provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

Finally!!!! Another Aven Ellis book is out! You guys know how much I love her stories, her writing style and her characters, especially the mail ones ;).

So anyway, we actually already know Livy and Landon. Remember Aven’s first book of the Chicago on Ice series?! Well, Livy is Aubrey’s best friend and Landon is Beckett’s best friend from the Buffaloes. The first time they met was, when Aubrey and Beckett had a big fight and Landon had to accompany Livy to her car…

Livy is a jewellery designer, she is very creative and passionate about art. One of her biggest hobbies?! Playing Trivial Pursuits with Scott.
Landon is a defenseman with the Buffaloes, he is very different from Beckett, way more outgoing and they also call him the selfie king!
Both characters have a great personalities and they work so well together, they have an amazing and intense chemistry. More on that later…

Well, Livy and Landon meet again at the school, where they both volunteer for. That’s also where they figure out that they have been playing each other on Trivial Pursuits. Landon then asks her to come for dinner at his place. This is something he never really did before. He is kind of famous for being the one who has a different woman ever night and never dates. Livy knows this and is scared, because she had her heart crushed by an athlete before. She decides to go for it though, because she likes the Landon she has met over Trivial Pursuits.

They click instantly, talk all night, have fun together and get very personal. We learn a lot about both their pasts and it makes Landon’s behaviour with women more clear. They start dating, but want to take it slowly. Every time they are not together, they miss they other person, which is very cute and adorable. Their feelings for each other intensify pretty quickly, but that was totally fine, because Aven wrote it in a very authentic and realistic way. The words they share with each other are just “awwwww”. It’s not as easy though. Let me introduce you to Kayla Paine, girlfriend of the Buffaloes goalie Ben and former ice girl. My god, that woman is a real b****. They way she talks to Livy and then they way she is with Landon. They are friends, but she wants something else from him. Landon doesn’t see this and Livy does. It doesn’t make it easier when you think about Livy’s past with guys. Kayla calls Landon all the time and they talk about everything. “Trouble”!!!! That song plays a big part in this book by the way.

Landon gets to know Livy’s family and they are just hilarious, especially her nana. I loved how fast he became one of them. The scenes including her family are so funny and entertaining. We also get introduce to Livy’s friends Collins and Taylor. Collins is a party planner and just broke up with her long term boyfriend, who was about to propose to her. Livy helps her with the parties and they party she is organising in this book is just ridiculously fab! It’s a puppy party, oh my god, you will not stop laughing about this!!!
Taylor works in Minneapolis, so we don’t really get to meet her, except when Livy has to go there work related.
We have also a new addition to the Chicago Buffaloes, Luca Ballerini, expect to hear more from him. Another character I really loved is Simona. Yeah that’s right, “me”, kind of anyway! She is a wife of another player and she is just fab!
Landon has a cat called Gigi, they way he is with her is so cute. And what I really loved: He called Livy and Gigi his girls, adorable! That actually reminds me: he had very sweet names for Livy and then they started making up funny names for each other, hilarious!

Every chapter starts with a fitting trivial pursuits questions, which I found really great and fitting. A creative and fun way to open a chapter.
Landon’s Instagram posts were another thing I adored in this book, you know why, when you see them.

I read this book as a beta reader, which was awesome. When I read it for the second time, I was actually just visiting Aven in Dallas and then went to Chicago. It was great to be at the location and see the setting. I went for dinner at the Fig & Olive restaurant in Oak Street, Livy and Landon had lunch with Luca there. I have to say the food was delicious and I can totally see the characters having lunch there. I also went to the Shedd Aquarium, where Landon and Livy had one of their dates.

Landon and Livy are so great for each other! I actually want Landon for myself please ;) They have a real connection from the start and that connection just grows stronger throughout the book. Aven included Livy’s feelings in a wonderful way, I felt so close to her. It’s about the person that makes THE difference in your life and the person you can be yourself with. This messages transports through the story and you can see what Livy and Landon have to go through, fighting for their love. Of course Kayla is the source of trouble. I really love how we get to read about Aubrey and Beckett again, I adored these two!!

I have to mention my favourite quote in this book, because it’s so beautiful: “Like missing pieces of a puzzle, we came together and fit. Like we were designed for each other.”
I’m so in love with it and it’s perfect for Landon and Livy.

The epilogue is absolutely adorable and I am just amazed how Aven’s able to make me speechless with every single of her books! I wouldn’t be able to pick a favourite, because they are all so incredible and also: they are connected to each other. She created this whole new world with her characters, which I think is amazing. And let’s be honest, yes I like the hockey aspect of this book as well.

Aven has a way to include emotions in a book in a very easy, simple and yet very effective way. The storyline in this book is absolutely perfect and she has a way to write, that you just sit there and the writing totally absorbs you. It’s hard to leave a story like that. I’m totally still in that world and I don’t want to leave anytime soon. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I saw the scenes vividly playing in my head and that’s always a good sign. So, this truly another incredible, amazing and touching book by Aven Ellis. FABULOUS!!!

Without fail, Aven Ellis is responsible for the majority of my book boyfriends, to the extent that I feel like I'm cheating on the last one, when I read a new book by her. There is just something about the male leads that get under my skin, from love at first sight. And Landon Holder is no exception, he is a sexy hockey player for the Chicago Buffaloes, but has so many layers under his public womanising persona, that are a pleasure to learn about.

Livy is the heroine of the story, a jewellery designer and addict of the game TriviaPlayorPass, a trivia quiz app that she has been playing with virtual player Scott921. She chats with him while they play and loves trying to beat him, and sorts of wishes the conversations would turn a bit more personal.

And then she sees Landon in an unexpected role and as they start to talk, you can tell there is a growing connection between them,

Trivial Pursuits starts each chapter with a trivia question, which in most cases links well into the chapter its heading. I can't help but think it was a lot of fun to research this book with the trivia, and also jewellery making techniques.

I love reading a book about soul mates, and its clear early on, even if you have never read a book by this author, that its heading towards a HEA, but I never mind knowing the expected outcome, when the story is as enchanting as this one.

There is such a likeable cast of characters, including Aubrey from The Aubrey Rules, and there is also a mention of a Dallas Demon, from the author's other series. Livy's family are quite lively and her nana is a real spitfire, and comes out with really unexpected things. The computer sex scene was hilarious and not what you may be thinking!

Another unforgettable instance is all mentions of the puppy party, Livy's best friend Collins is organising. Anything involving this party will make your eyes roll, but also amused me greatly.

Trivial Pursuits is a fantastic addition to Aven Ellis' already brilliant catalogue of books. A delight to read, to fall in love with and a fantastic way to spend part of my Easter holiday.

Thank you to Aven Ellis for this advance copy. This was my honest opinion.

I was looking forward to reading this book, after being introduced to Landy Holder in The Aubrey Rules. I was really excited to see the notorious playboy getting bit by the love bug.

I found this story to be a mixed bag and at times I struggled and that was down to Livy unfortunately. There was just something about her that I didn’t quite warm to. She was really insecure, and even though I understood the reasons behind her insecurities I felt she hung on to them like a security blanket. She really gave Landon a hard time, and he didn’t deserve any of it. Yes, he may have had a ladies man reputation, but from the moment they got together he was completely devoted to her.

So what did I like?

Well, for starters I was in love with Landon. He was a trivia geek, just like me, and he was just so adorable. He may have started out as a player, interested in hook ups and nothing else, but he had a hidden side and I loved it. He just needed to find that one girl, the one who wanted to know the real Landon, and not Landy the hockey player. Livy was it for him, and I loved how he embraced being in a relationship. I really felt for him when Livy was being unreasonable and I thought he had the patience of a saint.

I thought Livy’s nana was hilarious. She was a very modern nana, and the things that came out of her mouth made me chuckle. Lets just say that she certainly appreciated a hot man when she saw one!

I love Aven Ellis’s books, and although this one didn’t hit the five star mark, there is one thing that she never fails to deliver on, and that’s a heart warming story, with a feel good ending.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free for a Blog Tour in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I've been waiting so long to share my review of this book with you. I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for this book so I saw this book blossom from a tiny idea into the amazing book it is.

For those of you that have already read The Aubrey Rules you would have met Livy and Landon before. Landy Holden is the one man that Livy should stay away from. Livy's been hurt before. Her ex was an athlete and a cheater and she won't put herself through that again.

Landy Holden has always been a player. He's the king of selfies and is always at the heart of the action. But there's another side to Landy that not everyone has seen. There's a selfless side that no one sees.

This book will pull you in within minutes. Livy and Landon are such realistic and endearing characters that you can't help but love them. Aven's writing draws you in and wraps you up in her world and I can't wait for another one of her books.

This was a quick and easy read. The writing was engaging, but the story itself wasn't all that compelling. There was a lot of narrating, and we only get the pov from the h, who read as someone much younger. Her inner monologue was a bit of a turnoff for me, since I was expecting this book to be more NA, not YA, and she seemed very immature. However, overall, this story was entertaining and very sweet.

What I liked:
1) How sweet this story was.
2) No real ow/om drama.
3) The sex scenes were closed door. I appreciate not being bombarded with those images. And the language, with the exception of a few curse words, was very clean.
4) The epilogue.

What I didn't like:
1) The h was pretty immature.
2) The story was pretty boring.
3) It was pretty sappy and cheesy. Some of the dialogue was pretty unrealistic and overly emotional.
4) The secondary characters seemed like they were just added for the sake of continuing the series. They didn't add much value to this story.

I love this book!!! Aven Ellis has not yet written a book that I would not read or recommend to any and every person. With this book she must have looked into my dreams because this book would be my dream come true if I wasn't a middle aged housewife and mother. This book is Livy, an up and coming jewelry designer, and Landon, star defenseman and captain of the Chicago Buffaloes. They are familiar with each other having mutual friends, but when they meet up at an elementary school all that starts to change. They realize they have much more in common than the originally thought. I don't want to spoil too much of this book, but I love how she let the story develop and watching them fall in love. In every book that Aven Ellis writes, she leaves me with butterflies in my stomach as her characters grow and fall in love. This book had butterflies throughout the whole book. You don't want to miss this one!!

I loved it

Another great addition to the Chicago On Ice series. Landon is a player for the Chicago Buffaloes Hockey team and supposedly a real player off the ice too, but that is not the guy Livy has come to know while playing Trivial Pursuit online with him. They were playing against each other and never knew it because of their Aliases, but now that their secret identities are revealed they can get to know each other better. But Livy is falling for him and she's afraid she's headed for a heartbreak, and it doesn't help that there is another more exciting woman who has her eye on Landon too. I can hardly wait for the next book.

This book is officially another favorite from this author.
“I’m keeping my shirt on, I don’t trust your nana.” - best quote ever!!

Pros 🩷:
-Banter between main characters
-Favorite side character: Nana
- secret identity trope although shortly lived
- Trivial questions ( I learned a lot)
- A man with a cat 🐱
- Plot and character growth

Cons:
- all the selfies

Loved this audiobook…. Narration was phenomenal. highly recommend.
One question maybe someone can answer for me, I thought connectivity replaced Instagram in these series. I was confused when Instagram was mentioned towards the end of the story?

Her books are ok.

This is the 4th book I have read by this author and I was really hoping the author would have the hero perspective or inner monologues but sadly this is not the case. She is very good at working on the inner struggles of the female POV. I think she can be one of the great romance authors if she develops her male POV. Also unless she is being sponsored by the clothing labels and cosmetic company's she keeps mentioning in her books I don't need to know what fashion label the heroine is wearing.

I adored this book!

I’ve been excited to read this book ever since I finished the first book in the series a few months ago. I loved that novel and I loved this one too. Livy and Landon’s story was filled with cuteness. It was the perfect combination of swoony romance and drama. I have had heart emoji eyes and a huge smile on my face from the very beginning. Another five stars. I’ve already jumped into book three and I’m loving it so far. If you love a dreamy romantic story, I wholeheartedly recommend starting this series. You won’t be disappointed 😍

This is my third Aven Ellis book it sure won' be my last! Ms. Ellis writes with such heart, care and attention to detail. I just ordered the newest Dallas Demons adventure. That said I loved Landon and Livy's story. It's so real. Every one has insecurities it's how we handle them that reveals a person's character. Trivial Pursuit delves into this topic with a fun lightness but respectful manner without losing the entertainment value. Kudos!

Another good read!

Sweet, cute, and loving are three words that come to mind when I read Livy and Landon’s story. There is nothing but love from the beginning when these two begin to get to know one another. Highly recommend this series for anyone looking for something new. I can’t wait to read more!

2.5 stars. This was a light read. It wasn't as good as the first book in the series. Livy's reactions sometimes seemed exaggerated, and her repeated rehashing of her self-esteem issues was a little annoying. Landon was likable. They had chemistry, but went from zero to "I can't live without you" too quickly.

Fantastic

Livy and Landon are so cute together. I love that it starts with them getting to know each other without knowing whom the other one was initially. You can feel their chemistry right off. I keep thinking that the previous book by Aven is the best but the next keeps blowing that one out of the water!

Trivial Pursuits

Another great story about a hockey player and and his jewelry making girlfriend. The story was interesting as they played an online game of trivia that their true identities were not known. Then they showed to volunteer at the same elementary school- and their story begins.

Oh dear, is a person allowed to kick herself (that being me) in the pants so to speak? I still think this is a good read for at the pool / rainy day etc. But I wish I had a Nanna like this one, the antics and sayings had me in stitches! Aven my apologies for my first say so, this one had the bones, flesh and giggles.

In a lot of ways, this was even better than the first book in this series (The Aubrey Rules). Landon and Livy met because their friends are in a relationship; Landon is a ladies' man, and Livy has been hurt by an athlete before. Their relationship goes through ups and downs, there are a lot of conflicts and some really satisfying resolutions. Standalone, and a fantastic HEA.

I love a good trivia game so a romance with a trivia tier in pulled me in. I really liked Lucy and Landon as characters for the story. Their relationship seemed plausible and you could completely believe how the conflict would go down. I enjoyed the bonus chapter that was included that was several years later to see where these characters (and others in the series) wound up.

I enjoyed Landon and Livy's story about finding love after being cheated on and hurt. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because Livy was painfully young in this book and acted like it. Nana is a hoot and will make you laugh out loud in parts of the book.

So I’m all about sweet cliqued stories. This second one in the series was terrible. I think I read the lines ‘he’s all mine’ ‘he’s so hot’ etc more than 10 times each in the second half of the book.
I enjoyed the first book but I may just stop there.
