A concise, entertaining, and surprisingly thorough look at the life of Harry Houdini, born Erik Weisz. Around 40 pages in length, time is still taken to explore the myths and facts of this mysterious man's origins and career. I highly recommend this to everyone with a desire to learn more about one of histories greatest magicians.
Harry Houdini… Just the mention of his name mystifies me. I’ve been told about his skills as an illusionist, I’ve seen movies depicting his life, and I’ve read books that tell his story. However, I do believe this short history of his life tells so much more than anything else I may have read or seen.
This was a cute short book. I expected a long detailed bore but was pleasantly suprized, espcially in the middle of the spring book read-a-thon. 40 pages quickly read: I would have to call it... Um.. A brief introduce to Harry Houdini. I'm suprized people still talk about him. I mean he didnt do much but escape a straight jacket. (while shackled & chained, hanging upside down in a fishtank)
Harry Houdini: A Life from Beginning to End. Eric Weisz was born on March 24, 1874, in Budapest, Hungary. He and his family moved when he was four years old to Appleton, Wisconsin. A quote from him stated that his greatest escape was when he left Appleton. That seemed odd since he earned a reputation as the world’s best escape artist. He toured the US and Europe performing live shows in front of audiences. He also appeared in a few films. He died on October 26, 1926, at the age of fifty-two.
Very good and concise summary of a remarkable man.

A Great book about a Great man and his wife who stood with him to the end. I'm sure his wife, Bess, was holding her breath thinking that this time her husband will fail.
Easy read, straight forward ,in plain language. Entertaining as well as educational, explaining the situations in a simple and straightforward manner. Would recommend to anyone.
I have read several books on Harry Houdini, and this was certainly the shortest! But it certainly packed lots of facts into the 59 pages. So if you want a very good overview of who he was, this is an ideal book for you.
The name conjures up the mysterious escape artist. This bio goes into the man behind the legend. It doesn't dwell so much on the escapes as it does the life of Houdini. So if the man intrigues you check out this bio.
This is a very good overview of Houdini’s life. While it does not have a lot of detail, it is a good overview and give us a good start for more in depth study.
I learned a little more about Houdini's life from this short biography such as the fact that Houdini was not his birth name, and that Houdini had to provide for his family at the age of 12.
I really interesting read of the life of Houdini. I didn’t know much about him other than him being a magician. The book was both informative and entertaining.
