When three mysterious people move to Peachwood, all of whom exhibit magical powers, Clem and Rufus are on high alert. You see, they had been warned that the Clearers, an order intent on destroying witches and wizards, are coming to their town with one goal--to end witchcraft in Peachwood.
This leaves Clem with one question--who is the Clearer? Is it the preacher creating miracles at First Baptist? Or the barista whose every coffee concoction overflows with magic? Or could the owner of the new sporting goods shop be the one that Clem and Rufus are looking for?
As their investigation deepens, chaos ensues. Media coverage of Peachwood reveals what folks really think about the witches and wizards in town--and y'all, it ain't good. And when catastrophe strikes, Clem finds herself flying solo, without a wingman for help.
Will she uncover the Clearer before they overtake her town? Or will Clem find herself on the wrong side of magic?
Hey, I’m Amy, I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life. And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World. If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me. —In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office. —I worked at Carnegie Hall. —I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one. If you want to reach out to me—and I love to hear from readers—you can email me at amyboylesauthor@gmail.com. Happy reading!
Oh my goodness where is Rufus?! And why in the heck is Malene acting so strangely… she’s …nice? She even compliments Claire, one of her nemesis. What is going on in Peachwood? And where is Pastor Steve? Is he away because his family is actually sick? And is it just a coincidence that Pastor Clark has come to fill in for Pastor Steve or is something more sinister going on?
And even Clementine succumbs to some magic happiness unknowingly that someone gave her. Is Clem drunk, on drugs, or is it love that has given her such a high that she not only wants to spend the night with Rufus right this second, but she also airs out a secret that can jeopardize one of her best friend’s livelihood. And the best friend definitely fears this secret getting out, but then embraces it with gusto once it’s discovered that everyone in town is ecstatically eating it up!
And how will Clem win in the magical fight against one of the most powerful wizards in town? Will true love save the day and the entire town from the green eyed powerhouse?
Will the question that is asked toward Clementine be answered in the way we all want? That one, I. Don’t. Know. Cliffhanger answer! I’m rushing right on over to book 12 so I can find out Clem’s answer. It better be good! But why do I have the feeling it won’t be, because Clem doesn’t think before responding? Grrr.
Next is “White Magic and Wardrobes”. C’mon, Clem, say yes!
I love this series and all the other series I've read by this author. It's not literary genius and won't be winning any Pulitzer prize, but it is awful good and a lot of fun to read. In the Magical Renovation series there are some awesome characters - Clementine and Rufus are the mains but there's also her grandmother, grandfather, and the "quilting circle" made up of Urlene, Malene (the grandmother) and Norma Jean who are priceless seniors. And then there's Lady - Clem's talking dog. She's a dachshund with a southern twang and a ton of attitude.
In this book they are all taking on the "clearers" a group of bad guys who want to eliminate the witches. They denounce magic while using magic to put the witches and wizards "in their place". Meanwhile in the background there's a slow burn love story happening between Clem and Rufus.
The battle has come to town now Clem and crew have to decide who of three are evil.
The warning has come true and three new people of differing jobs have come to town. Now its the good witches and wizards that have to decide who is nice and who is evil. The town is being bamboozled and hatred is ripening throughout town. Clem and her crew are doing everything they can think of to fight but Rufus is missing and she isn’t sure they can do it without him.
Any Boyles writes books that keep you engaged. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. Rufus and Clementine are trying to save witches and the town then he disappears. Clementine has to stop the cleaners from taking out the magical people while trying to find Rufus. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
I think sometimes this series gets too big for its scope.
A lot of big things happen in this book but the story isn't that compelling. I'm tired of Clem losing Rufus. The evil thing has been here and gone. Whenever there's a big threat, a random unnamed magical task force appears and cleans up. I hope the next book is more centralized
Amy Boyles is one of my favorite authors! This is the second series that I read by her. While it is based on the supernatural, there is one recurring truth, love is one of the most powerful things of all.
The fight for magic has turned earnest. Rufus is caught and turned. Will Clem and her crew be able to fight the cleaners? A page turner and edge of you seat story.
There were so many bad things happening throughout the book. One problem after another, no reprieve for the main characters. It was stressful..not much fun and happy times in this book.
This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
This was a cute book, although I’m a little bit tired of them not being powerful enough to fight anything I really think they are and I’d like to see that
