Stage name. Secret plans. Real love.

Escaping the shadow of my famous rockstar step-father… and the paparazzi, is how I find myself microphone-in-hand at a bar off campus wearing a disguise and my heart on my sleeve.

I just want to sing. I need melodies like I need air to breathe. Music isn’t just some hobby: it’s my everything. And from the moment Wil steps on that stage next to me, I know my life won’t ever be the same.

Our connection is instant. We want each other almost as much as we want the money. He’s in the States on scholarship, and I’m trying to make my way in the industry. We forge an alliance, not knowing the secrets we both keep.

Even tangled in a duet of lies, we make sense . . . we blend. Together, we could have it all. Or lose our hearts.

I adore a good rock star romance, and this story had that and so much more behind it! This book was funny, dramatic, emotional, heartfelt, and true ode to music and the chaos behind it.
Wil and El find such a strength in each other, but are also driven together by their passion for music and their drive to come into their own. Each has their own agenda and not everything is blacks and white. Like every good rock story there are secrets, lies, betrayal and the age old question of whether the show will truly go on!

We Blend is the first book in the Falling For the Rockstar’s Daughter series by Willa Drew. It is a fun contemporary romance with secrets, drama, chemistry, and finding love unexpectedly- all set around the music scene.
Willa Drew is a new to me author and upon further investigation I discovered that this is the pen name of two talented authors who collaborated to bring us this flirty and fun read. I am glad I stumbled on this book and these authors, and I will definitely be adding them to my list of authors to keep my eye out for.
I won’t go into the story here, as I really don’t want to spoil it for you. I think it is worth going into a bit ‘blind’ and let the authors, characters, and story surprise you- in a great way.
I loved the whole secret identity element, as well as the music ‘scene’ aspect to the story- it gave the book its own unique identity and feel. The characters, Wil and El (WE) were well developed and likeable- I was easily invested in them and the outcome of their story. This book ends on a cliffhanger, so everything is set to continue in Book #2…. Bring it on!
Happy Reading.

Thank you, Willa Drew!

This book ends on a cliffhanger so be warned if you don’t like them. The chemistry, lies, drama (cause of course there needs to be!), and passion for what they enjoy. Wil and El the story of them was so beautifully written and I am in love with it! Thank you so much for meeting me read this!

*Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this text.

The story follows El and Wil as they take LA by storm in both music and film, both working towards their life goals and dreams, while supporting and disappointing their families. To quote the book – Family is complicated, and this is not right.
El only wants to be a singer, but her rock star father who is now music producer wants her to have a hand behind the scenes.
Wil, German film student explores the music side of film making, taking a film program by storm.
Together they form the group WE. Apart, their lies and secrets can hold them together, or tear them apart.

Reading this book, it was hard, as Wil’s secret (Which you find out early) made it hard for me to root for these characters from the beginning. I liked their dynamic but was put off quickly at any budding romance. I loved however how the spilt POV let you see how both the characters were dealing with big life drama, support, and lack thereof. I especially enjoyed seeing their different worlds collide once El let her guard down and allowed Wil to see how hard it is being a rocker’s child, between bodyguards, press and the ever-watching eyes.

Those who want to read – beware of cliff hanger, for me a character’s choice towards the end made it hard for me to follow, right until the last page when a cliff hanger came – We Breathe to come out in 2023 to continue to story.

Tropes:
- Hidden Identity
- Secret Keeper
- Strong Family Ties

Triggers:
- Borderline Questionable Relationships (Spoilers)

Wil and El skirt the line between upper YA and NA, with definite coming-of-age themes running through the center of the musical romance.

The secrets they hold at the beginning of the story had me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out how they would explode in their faces! And I loved how well these characters popped with personality. Definitely relatable and lovable individuals.

I did find the beginning was a little slow for me to get into but once the story got rolling it really pulled me through with fun situations and dramatic conflicts and very realistic character relationships.

I actually liked the slightly forbidden elements running through this with their tenuous connections to each other, but it might not be for all readers.

Overall, I loved these two and found them to be believable, interesting, and complex. I loved how their story developed and can't wait to see where it goes next. If you love coming-of-age romances, music, or strained relationships with parents, you'll definitely enjoy this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming, slow burn friends to lovers romance, and was fully engaged in the story throughout. The main characters, Wil and El are so likeable and relatable, and their chemistry really comes across in the narrative. El loves music but is escaping from her famous rockstar step-father’s shadow, and also the paparazzi. In order to sing her melodies, El wears a disguise and sings at a bar off campus and it’s here that she meets Wil. As the pair sing together on stage their connection is instant and it only grows stronger off stage too. However, El is not the only ones with secrets and Wil, who’s in the States on a scholarship also has a rather big secret of his own.
El and Wil just blend together, but they will either have it all or lose their hearts. The storyline flows well and the plot kept me happily turning the pages late into the night! El and Wil are so well defined that I felt like they were old friends and I loved how their relationship changed and grew over time. An enjoyable and engaging read, which I definitely recommend, and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

El is a rock stars’s stepdaughter, so she understands the press and the spotlight. Her parents have never wanted that for her, but all she wants is to be her own artist and sing her own music. Nobody understands how music speaks to El, until she meets Wil. Wil comes from a poorer childhood, but happy nonetheless. He doesn’t feel like he’s missed out on anything living with his mom and grandfather. But when Wil’s mom gets sick, he understands he has to do anything to make sure she is taken care of. Meeting El was not an accident, but falling for her… Read this book and see how the story turns out. It holds love, friendship, trust, and betrayal, but can they find their way through it all? The story is stretched out perfectly, just the right amount of time between plot changes, and relationship changes. The author did an amazing job with this book and I look forward to reading more books of hers!

A 5/5 ⭐️s !!!

This book was so entertaining & the characters are lovable. I love how it’s friends to lovers and we got to see the development of their relationship. I’m glad that El & Wil got the ending that they deserve. But there is no guarantee with the second book of when it would last. 🥺
Wil & El forever !!!

This was a great book! I loved the writing style and the characters. The story flowed so easily off the pages. The characters had fantastic chemistry and banter with each other. This is the first book I've read from this author before and I really enjoyed it! I honestly didn't want this one to end. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future!

OMG! The tension, the chemistry, the story, the characters!! I was not prepared for the way it ended. I am a WE follower.

Melodie “El” is the daughter of a famous opera singer and a rock-n-roll megastar. This puts El in the spotlight on a regular basis, but also puts her in danger and causes her to be a popular target of the paparazzi. El grew up sheltered and protected. El has a dream of performing but her parents say no. She is determined to find a way.

Wil comes to the US for one reason, to find his sperm donor who just happens to be a famous rockstar. By chance, Wil meets El in a bar where she is attempting to perform. Wil helps El in that moment, starting a budding friendship. El is Wil’s way to the sperm donor.

As the friendship grows, so do El and Wil’s feelings for each other. As a bonus, El’s confidence on stage has blossomed. Wil and El start a working relationship, Wil’s words with El’s music. The songs are amazing and soulful. As El’s parents start making decisions for her and lessen her chances of breaking away, El and Wil make some big changes.

Once El and Wil meet and have that moment on stage, there is no letting this pair go. There is so much to like about this. Except the ending. I wasn’t expecting it. It is not bad but I didn’t realize. I wasn’t ready. It was just so…….I wasn’t ready. But I do know I will be anxiously waiting for WE Breathe.

El is really Melodie. She always has to disguise herself in order to do what she loves. This would be music. One time, she's met on stage with Wil, and music makes history. They each have secrets and drama. This is such a great first book and cannot wait for the second one!!!

I was surprised by this one. This was slow going at first and I wondered if I would even finish it. But then I was swept away into the lives of these two characters. I loved watching them fall(?) or become good friends. Wil did a complete turn around as he was in awe of El and her talent. Music is definitely a large part of their lives.

I love the title and how WE came to be. There are so many neat wordings and comments in here. I do have some highlighted. I was disappointed in the ending (epilogue) as it is unfulfilling and incomplete. Then the authors say if I wanted the rest I had to subscribe to their newsletter. Poor choice!

I enjoyed We Blend. It reminded me of all the romance movies that have been made when lying by omission could come back to bite you. The author weaved an interesting story with wonderful characters. Character growth was presented in an elegant way. Especially between the two main characters.
El and Wil have ended up in the same place at the same time. Her trying to take a leap of faith and him in turn being the savior she needed to succeed. Unfortunately for El she doesn’t know that Wil has a hidden agenda with every intention of using her. What Wil never realized is El is not the person he assumed she was. She’s sheltered and kept isolated, but is it really for her own good? I feel like her parents are holding her back, they don’t want a career in stardom for her. El wants to have a music career. And music is my favorite theme throughout. Music allows both El and Wil to truly see each other. It also is a big growth contributing factor.
Does Wil's secret come back to haunt him?
Will El’s parents realize they are smothering her and not protecting her?
I look forward to reading other books by this author in the future. Because I went into this one with hope and promise, and it Absolutely delivered! Now it’s your turn!

This is the first book in the Falling For The Rockstar’s Daughter Series. Silly me was not aware that this story was going to continue. I had stupidly assumed that it was a standalone novel and now I can’t wait to read the next stage of Wil and El’s story. I don’t do patience very well. Can I blame the author for making me love this too much? Hell, no. I love this author.
Will and El’s story is one I fell in love with straight away. They are both amazing characters that are so relatable and utterly adorable. If you love a good, clean and very heartwarming romance then this book will be right up your street. Now, I love a good erotic romance too but sometimes a nice wholesome romance that gives you the warm and fuzzies inside is just what you need.
This story flowed really well and you are taken on a great adventure through the music industry and the joys (or not) of having famous parents.
I can’t believe that I’ll have to wait to read more of Wil and El but I’m sure this author will make it well worth the wait.

This book started off strong for me. I was so excited to read a book involving music and rocker lifestyles with a daughter trying to find her way out from under her parent's thumbs. I love a good story about a woman finding her own way and making her own path. And how could I not want to read about a romance of a man coming to her rescue when she needs help and he's from out of the country?? Yes, please! I was really into El's hidden identity part I thought that was so fun. Her parents were honestly a little much, and I can see why she would have to hide what she is really doing from them. Things went downhill for me when the ties between El and Wil were made clear. STRONG family ties were just sickening to me to see how they are connected. Maybe it is because I come from a very blended family with both half and adoptive relatives that this just rubbed me the wrong way. This story could have been so great without the aspect of why Wil is really in the country or the weird way it ties to El. I don't want to spoil it and I can't say why I hated this without saying what IT was but just no. That ruined the whole book for me. Got 2 stars because it would have been a good story without the weird connection and drama.

I really enjoyed this romance. It was easy to read and quickly sucked me into the story. The characters were easily related to. I thought it was funny and emotional, but not overly dramatic. It had elements that were realistic, while still having parts that allowed for fantasy/daydream type of scenarios. This is a good choice if you like a slow burn, friends-to-lovers type of quick read. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

This book was honestly super cute and such a good read, I loved it.

Melodie (El) - On a path to prove herself and prove she has what is takes to make her own music and be successful but her parents aren’t willing to let her have a chance as they know how being famous can ruin lives.

Wil - Traveling to America in search for his famous father for financial help under the disguise of trying to win a film contest.

In a twist of fate Wil meets El the step-daughter of the rockstar he’s been looking for and El need Wil’s help if she’s ever going to take her shot.

With Wil and El.. There’s lies, drama, insane passion for music that they share and their amazing chemistry. I loved how this had me so engaged, I adored this book.

I’m definitely going to be reading more books from this author.

We Blend is definitely worth the read! Loved every second!

✨Blurb✨

A rockstar's daughter wants to escape her parents' shadows and overbearing rules in order to make a name for herself.

A German boy raised by his single mother is looking for a way to help her by getting the support his father never gave.

When their world collides, things get fun, messy, and a little reckless.

✨Review✨

El and Wil are some of the best characters I've read in a bit. The dual POV in the story really allows you to see how each feels and eventually grows as the story progresses. The timeline and pace of the book were perfect. The YA slow burn of the romance in WE Blend was so well done that I'm second guessing my trepidation towards the YA and New Adult romance genre. I've never read a Rockstar Romance and feel I've been missing out. The love for music flew off the page, and I felt I could hear the words in tunes like El. The end is a bit of a cliffhanger but wraps up the first part of the journey with a nice little bow. I will definitely need to check out the next installment of WE.

Wil and El . . .

El has music in her soul and is compelled to sing and make a name for herself in the music world. Her step-father does not support her in this quest, despite being a rock star himself. But El cannot let it go. When she steps on the stage at a bar off-campus, she needs to sing. And Wil, a guitarist, steps up beside her and their lives are changed.

This is their story and will pull the reader in as well. They have the talent to make it and their own reasons for fulfilling the dream. Wil and El – “WE” – are a force to be reckoned with. Grab your copy and let them take you on their journey.

We Blend (Falling for the Rockstar's Daughter Book 1) by Willa Drew. This was such a fun read. I really enjoyed it. Its the story of El (Melodie) who is the step daughter of a famous rock star. Her dream is to become famous on her own. El loves music and she wants to make it her life but with her step dad and mom being so overprotective its hard. They want to make sure and protect her from all the mistakes they have made. When El meets Wil in a bar sparks fly and when they sing together its off the charts. Wil tries to lift up El up when she is heartbroken and disappointed and the more time they spend together the more they like each other. El even travels to meet Wil's mom and they all love her but when secrets come out on El's side will it destroy the sweet relationship they have created? Will El make it big on her own or will she have to finally let go of her dream. Read this sweet contemporary romance to find out!

I loved this book! Willa Drew's writing style blew me away. I loved the chemistry between Wil and El and how they both try to convince themselves that what they have isn't real or that they hate each other, but still can't resist falling for each other. The plot was fast-paced and kept me flipping the pages. I loved the music and food woven throughout the story and have a soft spot for Sven.

There is some explicit language, but the heat level is just kissing.

Thank you to the authors for my ARC; all opinions are mine.

This was a wonderful read and I’m so glad I found it. I like a good contemporary romance read and this one was just great to read. I absolutely loved the characters El and Will – I think I fell in love with them straight away. El was so determined to make her way in her music career and I loved that determination about her. I loved the first meeting between her and Wil.- there was just something about them that made me fall in love with them both straightaway. The authors writing was just wonderful, so seamless and easy to read.
I am absolutely looking forward to the next book in this series. I wholeheartedly recommend this book it’s a wonderful read.

El is trying to find her own way into the music business, even though many would believe she has an “in” because her step father is a famous musician. But El wants to make it on her own.
Wil has travelled from Germany to make a film with a group of others. He finds himself in need of a job in addition to the film making. It’s a experience of a lifetime and Wil is not going to let anything stop him.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. The authors did a wonderful job of writing the characters in a way that I felt connected to them right away. Reminded me of how life was when I ventured out on my own after moving away from home.

This is my first read by these authors and it was a good introduction to their work! Wil & Melodie’s romance was very well written and had some depth even though they’re young. The consistency of the music industry being mentioned was nice because it really puts you inside of the book. I enjoyed reading about what it’s like to be famous and rich, yet want to hide from that world. Not only does this book do a great job at keeping you engaged, the ending makes you excited to read more!

This is a sweet story that takes you on a journey as Melody (El) wants to be more that her famous parents are protecting / allowing her to be. When she meets Will the connect and together, they work well together, but it takes them down an unforgiving path.

A well written journey that as the characters realize the truth and find their path.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really enjoyed this 4.5 stars. Besides a great entertaining story, I thought physically my paperback copy was superb-heavyweight paper, a durable cover, plus an inscription by the author(s). My only complaint is with the epilogue. You have to scan a QR code to finish it, and for the life of me I can’t get it to download. Really looking forward to the sequel.
