Infinite #11

The Order

Rate this book
When two galactic forces collide—one spreading chaos, the other demanding order—New York Times and #1 Audible bestselling author, Jeremy Robinson, defends Earth with characters from three of his fan favorite novels: The Others, Flux, and Exo-Hunter.

Mysterious gateways are appearing throughout the universe, bridging violent civilizations, leading to war, and sowing chaos. While some species succumb to the pandemonium, the Chut’un forge an unholy symbiotic relationship—The Order—with red Europhids, a vast hive intelligence populating the universe’s far reaches. Desiring structure and fearing the unknown, they cull everything opposed to their plan, including the Europhids’ blue counterparts, carrying out a galactic genocide until only one blue Europhid remains… inside Moses Montgomery, aka ‘Dark Horse.’

As a Rapid Reaction Force Marine from 1989, Dark Horse and his team were sent 1000 years into the future where they defeated the Union, an evil fascist empire. Back in the present, after preventing the Union from ever forming, Dark Horse and his team of…unique operators from the past and the future are ready to kick back, listen to some tunes, and enjoy the timeline they saved.

But as the last threat to The Order’s machinations, Dark Horse finds himself with an alien target on his back. Joined by Dan Delgado and Wini Finch (The Others), and Owen McCoy (Flux), the team attempts to understand the gates that first appeared in New Hampshire, and now in Antarctica. Despite their vast experience with the strange and otherworldly, none of them are prepared for what comes next. Three members of the team are abducted, whisked away to another planet. Alive or dead, no one knows.

Dark Horse and his now rag-tag team struggle to track down their missing teammates while being hunted themselves. With the fate of his friends—and all of Earth—hanging in the balance, Dark Horse is forced to take insane risks, create chaos, and do anything to get his people back.

TO SAVE HUMANITY…
…HE MUST SACRIFICE HIS OWN.

Robinson is at his best when combining elements of science-fiction, horror, and edge-of-your-seat action, laced with unpredictable humor. The Order is the perfect marriage of these elements, telling a story that is, at times, moving, and at others, laugh-out-loud outrageous. The Order is pure entertainment from a New York Times and #1 Audible bestselling author with an unparalleled imagination.

The Order is tearing through the universe with more excitement than my 24-inch pythons, brother! ~~ Hulk Hogan

Book Information

The latest addition to Jeremy Robinson's "Infinite" series, titled "The Order," is a novel spanning 384 pages and also available as an audiobook narrated by R.C. Bray with a runtime of 10 hours and 44 minutes. It is the 11th book in the series, known for exploring alternate dimensions, parallel universes, and otherworldly beings. "The Order" is the first major crossover book in the series, with only two books remaining.

Summary

Gateways have mysteriously appeared throughout the universe, creating conflict and chaos between violent civilizations. The Chut'un have formed an alliance with the red Europhids and have eliminated all opposition, except for one blue Europhid that resides within Moses Montgomery, known as 'Dark Horse.'

Dark Horse, a Marine from 1989, was transported 1000 years into the future, where he and his team defeated the fascist Union before returning to the present day. However, when Dark Horse and his team, which includes Dan Delgado and Wini Finch (The Others) and Owen McCoy (Flux), become the last obstacle to The Order's plan, three members of the team are abducted. Now, Dark Horse and his squad must locate their missing teammates while being hunted themselves, with the fate of their friends and the entire Earth at stake.

My Thoughts

Jeremy Robinson's "The Order" is a thrilling and hilarious adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat. With its bizarre yet skillfully crafted plot and engaging character relationships, it is sure to captivate readers whether they are familiar with Robinson's work or not. This eleventh installment in the series introduces a new character that quickly became my personal favorite, but I won't spoil her name just yet. Instead, here's a sneak peek at her flag.

This book is an enthralling fusion of science fiction, pop culture references, and humor that will pique your interest. Admittedly, some of the humor may be on the immature side, but it still managed to make me chuckle. Additionally, the story is unconventional and downright bizarre at times. If you're not willing to embrace wild elements such as dolphin tail slap fighting, lethal space cucumbers, or fight scenes accompanied by a soundtrack, this read may be a stretch for you.

The narration by RC Bray is exceptional, breathing life into the story and rendering it an absolute delight to listen to. His talent is such that he could make even a nutrition label sound enticing with his delivery.

And since it’s packed with 80’s pop culture references….here is the review as presented by Hulk Hogan:

Let me tell you something, brother! The Order by Jeremy Robinson is one wild ride, dude. This book has got everything you need to get your adrenaline pumping - action, humor, and a cast of characters that will knock your socks off.

And let me tell you, brother, RC Bray's narration is so good it'll make you wanna shout "Whatcha gonna do, brother, when the Order runs wild on you?!" He brings the story to life like nobody else, and you'll be cheering for the good guys and booing the bad guys like you're in the front row at Wrestlemania!

So if you're a fan of sci-fi, pop culture references, and humor that's more fun than a barrel of monkeys, brother, then you gotta get your hands on The Order by Jeremy Robinson. It's the cream of the crop, brother, and it's gonna have you hooked from the first page to the last!

Recommendation

If you're a fan of Robinson's other standalone novels like Exo-Hunter, The Others, and Flux, then you'll love the surprises and Easter eggs in The Order. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves crazy sci-fi adventures and a good laugh.

I didn't see that this one was part of a series and almost turned it off after the first half hour. But I hung in there and the story ended up having a comical Buckaroo Bonzai effect- the quality of picking up an absurd serial 30 episodes in. Characters come in and have brief, and bizarre backstories, and the story quickly jumps to a new location. I almost thought it was satire until I realized they were just an endless parade of callbacks. It's a dad joke space opera, and juvenile humor aside, the many 80s movie references somehow kept me involved. The redeeming qualities are that it's pretty well plotted with interesting alien races, action, and battles of reason like any good Star Trek wannabe. The light tone, the constant jokes (by jokes, I mean basically just shouting the word "sex" over and over and being like, "what would Indiana Jones think?!") kept the pace going nicely, even if this is another book that doesn't seem to have a basic understanding of punchlines. There is a character I liked, Cassie, some kind of psychic-powered teen who bounces around like she's on a sugar rush and does silly dances during much of her dialogue. Felt like a drawn-from-life dad thing and seemed kind of wholesome. Honestly, once I brought that audiobook speed up to 2x and just let it wash over me it was fine.

The Master Ascends To Douglas Adams Level. I've long considered Jeremy Robinson to be the Modern Day Master of Science Fiction. With this book, he even manages to ascend all the way up to Douglas Adams level scifi insanity - while, like Adams, making the insanity completely work within the tale he is telling here. I'm not going to ruin any of the surprises or the hilarities, because both are awesome and deserve to be experienced without warning. But truly, for those fans of Adams - and he is among the more popular science fiction writers *ever* with his Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy -... do yourself a favor and check this one out. Though this *is* one of the final books in Robinson's "Infinite Timelines" Avengers Level Event, and thus you really do need to read at *bare* minimum Exo-Hunter first (as the story is told through the eyes of our hero from that tale), but also The Others and Flux, the other two books on this branch of the timeline. And as The Dark is referenced heavily, it wouldn't be a bad idea to read that one before this one either. If you've done all of that though, you're truly going to love how this book comes together - and you're going to want to read them just so you can get to this book to see just how truly utterly insane (in the best possible ways) it really is. Very much recommended.

Who writes the sequel to three books at once? Jeremy Robinson. ‘The Order’ is the direct sequel to ‘Exo-Hunter.’ It’s also a sequel of a sort to ‘The Others’ and ‘Flux.’ You don’t need to read either of the latter to dive in, but you should probably read ‘Exo-Hunter,’ if not only because it’s awesome and a uniquely Robinson book. Also, Dark Horse is simply the best – a reference Dark Horse would probably get. In fact, I’d be disappointed if he didn’t.

Before I get to my review, a short note: I did go back to read ‘The Others’ and ‘Flux’ because I’m a completionist. They’re both exciting and engrossing reads and everything I’d expect from Robinson. I enjoyed getting to know Dan, Wini and the kids from ‘The Others,’ and Owen McCoy and ‘Mazzola’ from ‘Flux.’ I was glad I had a more than passing familiarity with these characters before catching up with them in ‘The Order.’ But Robinson does do a fine job of bringing up-to-date readers who dive in here.

That being said, however, ‘The Order’ is perhaps the first part of the countdown to the end of the Infinite Timeline. Now is probably a great time to catch up on anything you missed.

On to my review: Dark Horse is once again our man of the moment and he has lost none of his snark, questionable humour and love of all things created in the 80s. I enjoyed traveling with him again so much that this book could have been twice as long and I’ve have remained entertained. But I’m not sure everyone would have lived to see the end.

Like most Robinson novels, the action pretty much kicks off on page one, with Dark Horse and his crew finishing what they think might be the last task on their list: destroying a future plague before it’s even developed. Despite a confusing development, the mission appears to be a win – until Dark Horse and Co. realize that despite winning this particular battle, they’ve barely scratched the surface of a war they knew nothing about.

When half of Dark Horse’s team is captured, along with someone very dear to Wini, new allies are called upon to not only effect a rescue, but to battle a new enemy: the Order. And the best way to fight order? Introduce chaos.

What makes this book extremely awesome is, well, a lot of things. But I’ll start with my favourite: the character development, which is not confined to only Dark Horse. I’m going to veer a little into spoiler territory here but I’ll try to keep it vague. At the end of ‘Exo-Hunter,’ Dark Horse has become more than a callsign. He is the unexpected; the winner who came from behind. He also is also carrying a passenger, a being he has much more in common with than he might ever understand. Without giving too much away, Dark Horse and his passenger will need to learn to share a single space and this aspect of his/their development is so beautifully executed – in both halting and sure steps – that I found myself in tears more than once.

Fans of Hildy and Burnett (‘Exo-Hunter’) will also be pleased with how they mature here. Cassidy Rose from ‘The Others’ continues to delight while teaching Dark Horse that chaos isn’t necessarily all bad. Mazzola didn’t have a name in ‘Flux.’ Now he does and… Just read the book, okay? (Which book? Any book.)

The scope of ‘The Order’ is vast. The further development of three separate stories, now woven into one vast timeline, is masterfully done, and the result is so huge that I’m glad we have two more books with which to experience it. The final battle in ‘The Order’ is big enough that I actually put the book aside for just long enough to check back with the Infinite Timeline to make sure I hadn’t missed anything – that this wasn’t the end. But, for as much as Dark Horse and his newly expanded team have accomplished together, there is more yet to come and it promises to be epic.

Finally, as with ‘Exo-Hunter,’ I loved the banter, the pop culture references and the playlist of new songs to hunt down on YouTube. The humour is spot on. My very middle-aged self laughed out loud several times and even read certain sequences out to passersby. (My husband, my daughter, a friend who called to chat.)

I’m not sure who will lead the team in the upcoming finale, ‘Singularity’ but I very much hope it’s Dark Horse again. He not only has the grit and pathos of a worthy hero, he’s funny, too. And even the darkest moments need a little light.

Before we get to the end, however, the other half of the team (or a second team) needs to come together: the characters from ‘Tribes,’ ‘The Dark’ and ‘Mind Bullet’ in the forthcoming novel ‘Khaos.’ I hope the wait isn’t long.

I’ve been a long time fan of Jeremy Robinson and I await each new book with great anticipation, knowing that it is going to become my new favourite book. The Order is no exception. It takes insanity to new levels and blows every expectation out of the water. Bringing together memorable and lovable characters from Exo-Hunter, Flux and The Others, this is the thrill ride to beat all thrill rides. It also introduces some amazing new characters and I for one cannot wait until a future book brings together Cassidy from this book and Henry from “Tribe” - the world won’t survive!

This book is such a delight for anyone who has read the books of Jeremy Robinson. The story is so well crafted that it can also be enjoyed by a first time reader, but those familiar with his works will love all of the surprises in the story.
The book moves fast and takes us along on one wild ride. The battles are amazing, but my favorite part is the relationship between the characters. Not only does Robinson bring back some well-loved characters from Exo-Hunter, The Others and Flux, but we also meet some new people that I would love to see again
As always, RC Bray has done an amazing job bringing the story to life with his narration. Robinson and Bray may just be the perfect partnership!

Book 11 in the Infinite series is superb I think. The biggest reason for me to say this is because one of my favorite characters that Jeremy has written is the main character here. Dark Horse. I’m still a sucker for 80s and 90s references. It’s why I LOVED Ready Player One (the book). It’s why I like shows like Stranger Things (well kind of why for that show) and Goldbergs. It’s why I like movies like Super 8. I know people don’t like the whole nostalgia thing going on… but it doesn’t bother me. Did Jeremy do this because of Ready Player One maybe? Who cares, because it was done well for me.

While the narration mostly revolves around Dark Horse we have a slew of returning characters… leads and side characters. With a lot of characters (from Exo-Hunter as well as a few other books) in this book, it doesn’t hinder the book like some might think. Everyone gets their time in the sun. Nobody gets lost in the constant action that this book delivers.

The story is great. The humor is great. The action is great. Gonna be sad when the full story is over.

Have you ever taken a vacation day just to read a book? I can officially say that I have, and it's not the least bit depressing. Once again Jeremy Robinson takes the reader and a troop of beloved known heroes on a wild ride through a universe that only he can create. From the hilarious banter to the edge-of-your seat twists, you'll find yourself struggling to put it down. I loved this book in it's entirety, and the real life sense of friendship I feel for the characters. I occasionally have to remind myself they're not real. I cannot recommend this book enough. If you're having doubts, just take the leap and prepare for Khaos.

Another freaking fantastic story. The humor, exciting action, gripping story, amazing characters, and weirdness (seriously...dolphins lol) all equal a JR novel. I legit had trouble running at the track because I kept laughing so much that I'd get a cramp (thanks Jeremy)! The Crossover was epic! The ending was perfect. I just want the next book now! If you enjoy any type of sci-fi with dark humor, check out his website for the order to read these books in. You won't regret it!

Wini’s baaack! I met her in The Others. ❤️ 😆

You might enjoy this book if you’re someone who loves action, space adventure, outlandishness, crazy monsters, time travel, fart/dick jokes, puerile humor, lots of 80’s nostalgia & music references a’la Eskimo Callboys …

I loved this madcap book. I guess I have the disposition of a teenager? You won’t be able to listen to this at work without hurting yourself trying not to laugh. The only thing it’s missing is the mention of bacon …

I imagine you’re wondering if I’ll share a synopsis … I don’t think I could write a better bit than the publisher did without giving something away or making a mess of it. If you’ve read the other stand alone books in this time line …

The Others
Flux
Exo Hunter

… you know what you’re in store for as characters merge in this book 😁

RC Bray is narration perfection, superb choice for this book.

I wasn’t given an ARC for this review but I’d still like to thank #PodiumAudio because I loved this story!! Thank you for publishing this book! I bought the audiobook and then put the hardcover on my Amazon Book Wishlist. My month long reading slump has been vaporized. Read it. You’ll laugh.

2022’s contender for book of the year!

Another 10/10 From The King of Monsters and Fringe Science

This book is an epic explosion of mad science fiction, 80s & 90s pop culture and music, and monsters that can’t be found anywhere but in JR novels. You probably should read Exo-Hunter first in order to truly enjoy this book, but there are also plenty of Easter eggs for his other novels which I love recognizing and have me excited to check out stories I might have missed otherwise. The mood can be dark or serious as the story progresses, but there are many other moments where I was absolutely laughing at the diverse cast of characters bantering with each other. (Not always safe for work lol) I wish I could mention some of my favorites, but I’ll keep it spoiler free. I definitely cannot wait for more!

Entertaining crossover, pulling in nicely from the loosely affiliated Infinite series. In many ways, more enjoyable than the individual books that feed into this one. Would not recommend reading without having read the predicate novels first.

I honestly think there’s only so much pop culture references I can take in books. Since ready player one, almost all sci-fi books try to imitate that and its repetition kinda makes me wanna stop reading sci-fi altogether. It was even bad in ready player two! In this book there’s no new exciting technology, just aliens and retro pop culture.

merging so many books and timelines and stories got me book-sick...
Also the review factors in that the book was advertised to me as being good - even though required me to read other 20 series and a website which I haven't, and as a standalone it kinda' sucked.

If you are a fan of Jeremy and went through his website, read all the books in the right order and at the right time this one will make sense and should be pretty good, otherwise you will leave 1/5 star reviews like an a66.

No Hot Aliens where hurt in the making of this novel

Before we get into the fine details let’s just say what blew my mind Dolphin-Fu… The Thing(references to a masterpiece)… Space Dinosaur.

If thouse 3 things didn’t blow your mind then sad to say you’ll be wrong because the first 10 pages are off your rocker action blaster time. Haas the story gives us an 80’s action hero intro into the Exo-Hunter team and there mission but this places in comparison to the story that unfolds into a Galatia mystery of death and genocide that require the forces of 3 different novels coming together to face from a journey to secret Soviet labs in Antarctic to a war torn giant aliens home-world.

It doesn’t become obvious at first but if you remember the concept art for the time Jeremy released a year ago another novel Was under this in the timeline chart and with with story points in the boooook it becomes obvious to the reader that there are actions happing off ch that will become more seen when see what the chacthers in the another group of 3 books where up to in there actions because of the galactic menace.

They’s two explained just a surface of why Jeremy Robinson is call the king of Kaiju thrillers even do there aren’t any Kaijus in the book but this just shows how great a writer he is to create a book series worth a motion blockbuster series in writing.

The wrong choice was made?!

Well! Color me surprised 😲 No only is Dark Horse changing but every choice made has far reaching consequences. It would be simple to just go with the flow of the story but man… it was awesome 👏 We finally have all characters from previous books joining the fight for earth’s 🌎 survival. And the last drop hint of Cherry Bomb was epic.
The red Europhids have formed an alliance with the Chut’un. They betrayed their blue counterparts and committed genocide. Only reds are left and they are determined to end the greatest threat to them (HUMANS). Now our heroes must prepare for a war that is coming no matter what.
It is possible to enjoy the book by itself but the previous stories made this one so much better. We see Cassie a little older and just as crazy 😜
We are also given background info of the oldest earth species to survive the end of the dinosaur 🦖 era. They traveled to the stars and have evolved far from earth, thriving! Until they are invaded and again the wrong decision was made.
Now I’ll just wait patiently until the next book comes out…

I'm stunned! What a great book to pull all of the books that started as standalone! I'm so glad you decided to bring it all together! I was hoping! This collection of novels? Series? Not sure what to call it now but.... They have everything I like in a book! Sifi, aliens, and a boatload of '80s references and straight up awesome humor 🤣. I find it hilarious that I can also listen to a soundtrack on Spotify for each of the books but I'm not reading them and it reminds me of awesome parts of the book. Kind of like when you hear one of those songs that triggers a movie scene! I get a replay of my imagination of the scene in the book! Please tell me all the rumors and hints are true and this will be getting some Hollywood attention at some point! It would be wonderful to have this done right as a TV series!

What a lot of fun. Sci-fi snark and tons of 80’s and music references.
I absolutely loved this book. Jeremy Robinson’s story and RC Bray’s narration are awesome. This is a fun, funny, pop culture filled SciFi adventure. It is an excellent standalone book and now that I know about the Infinite Timeline series I am downloading the series. I read them out of order but that’s ok. Now I’ll read them in order. Please enjoy this as much as I did. This book is just plain fun and full of cool tech I wish we had now. RC Bray is a master of animating the characters into live people in your head that will have you laughing out loud, so people may stare at you if your listening on a train, subway or plane who cares enjoy!

Jeremy Robinson is just a consistently excellent storyteller. I love all of his books, and The Order did not disappoint. JR does an amazing job of meshing the ordinary with the outlandish, which makes the outlandish creepily believable. He mixes in just the right amount of offbeat, awesome, right-up-my-alley humor. I love when he weaves music references into his book that infect you with the earworms you just can’t shake. The best part of this book is that he brought back my favorite characters, along with a few I didn’t remember but have now been elevated to favorite status. Love it!

I read the digital edition first and now I'm listening to the audible narrated by RC Bray. (That's how much I loved this book!) I can't tell you how many times I found myself laughing out loud as I listened to the crazy antics of Dark Horse and his crew. I stumbled upon Jeremy Robinson a few months ago with Exo-Hunter and tore through The Infinite Timeline. This book was an exciting romp, bringing together some of the best characters imaginable. My favorites are Cassidy Rose and Moses, but they’re all pretty great. I especially appreciate how strong the female characters are—no damsels in distress here! If you’re not familiar with the Infinite Timeline but like science fiction with a hefty side of humor, get started, and then when you get to The Order, prepare to love the heck out of it!

Jeremy Robinson and R.C. Bray did it again. Jeremy worked hard to bring multiple stories together while simultaneously giving his characters depth and it truly shows, not in no small part of R.C. Bray and his excellent vocal abilities. The story itself was a roller-coaster of action, emotions and exceptionally wild story telling. I've read every book Jeremy has written and while they're all great stories in their own right, there's something special about a very well written crossover that should be appreciated. It was well worth the money spent to buy this book.

The Robinsonverse has come knocking, and the door has been busted wide open.
From beginning to end this book takes you on an impossible journey. Impossible and fantastic and rip-roaring fun! With its own built-in soundtrack, you will finish this book, then want to start it all over again. Dark Horse is probably my all time favourite character. I want to enjoy a Sunday new music day with him:)
Read this book, you will love it!!!
