Good. Short. Felt a bit impersonal because the author wrote in generalities instead of specifically painting scenes for us. The Monster screamed at you, but what did he scream? How did it make you feel in the moment? Did you notice the expression on Enabling Parent's face? I never got a strong feel for who the author is as a person. It felt like she had a wall up. But I don't mean to bad mouth it. It carries a great message.

This was based on true life events that the author herself lived through. It shows amazing spirit and determination to persevere after growing up in an abusive household.
To relive her abuse in order to tell her story so that others can find help and solace for their own monsters I gave this read FOUR STARS

There were grammatical and punctuation errors that disrupted the flow at times but when you are reliving an harrowing time in your life to put it to paper exceptions are made and I praise the author’s bravery.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has lived through abuse as a child or to anyone to bring to lite the horrors that exist behind closed doors of families across the globe. Abuse is everywhere.

The monster in the walls resonated with me due to my childhood trauma. While reading this story, I had to put the book down and come back to it later as it hit home. This story is truly eye-opening, and even though I have moved away from religion, I found the story to be inspirational and inspiring. My hat goes off to Julia for being brave enough to write about her life experience and share it with the world.

It’s an interesting read. It’s not really a story with plot development. But more pages filled with quick memories and thoughts along the way. The grammar is a little rough, but the author wasn’t able to go to school, so I can look past it. Overall, very sad stories about the authors childhood trauma and her long journey of recovery as an adult.
