This was such a helpful book. I had just found out my breast cancer had returned, after living cancer-free for 12 years.
Even though I had gone through 6 years of treatments, there was still so much I did not know, and many things had changed, too.
At first, I didn't really want to read about it, but then I saw this book, & the title made me laugh. When I learned it was written by 2 women, friends who both had had breast cancer, I didn't mind reading it. It was a small enough book not to be daunting. They used humor, too, which always helps me. I did enjoy reading their stories, though different from mine.
At the end of each chapter, they put "words to know," which was very helpful.
I also appreciated their resources at the back of the book. For example, one section was "Online Group Abbreviations." I had recently joined an on-line support group, and most of the women used abbreviations for a lot of things, & I had to go look each one up. But this book has them all!
They also had a section filled with helpful definitions.
What really helped me at that moment, also in the back of the book, was their "One-Stop Shopping Guide." I was getting ready for surgery & later radiation, etc., & I didn't know what I might need. These 2 wonderful ladies relieved so much of my stress. I used their shopping guide to fill my "radiation bag," & more.
I am very grateful to have read this book, and I highly recommend this book for anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer or even before diagnosis, when they first tell you they see something suspicious on your mammogram. If you or a loved one is in this situation, this is a great book to read.
