The reader is given a lot of scientific background at the start from the author's note. This took me a while to digest but I was glad I had understood the science because it made it much easier to follow the story through.
The plot stayed gripping throughout, with enough drama and tension to keep us reading into the night!
Dr. Essie was the perfect character to show the story through, she was strong willed, intelligent and extremely likeable, making it easy for the reader to cheer her on.

Today is my spot on Lovebookstours blog tour for Malicious Deception. I read this exciting thriller as an ebook for this tour. This novel tells a story of a young female scientist from Stanford who finds important documents taped to an underside of a desk drawer and ends up fighting for her life and putting those who are close to her in grave danger. This thrilling read is about science and American politics, as the story unfolds greed, crime and lies are uncovered.
I read this novel in one sitting and I really enjoyed reading it. This thriller is quite action-packed and fast-paced, and it held my attention and interest throughout. It was a thrilling read from the first page to the last one.
I liked discovering an author who was new to me and whose writing style I liked, and I would like to read more novels by this author in the future. I thought this thriller was written very cleverly and it was very intelligent. I loved the character development, and finding out more about the strong and independent female main character as the story unfolded. I’m giving this novel 4 stars as I think it was a good read, and I think other readers will enjoy it too.

I’m excited to read more about Essie. She has two PhD’s and is trying to help stop an explosion that would have irreparable harm. It’s a bit of a mix of a story with politics, nuclear danger, science, and a woman that needs to work well with others. It all starts with the discovery of a 50 year old memo that someone is still determined to keep hidden. The book ends with a perfect setup for a sequel or series.

Really enjoyed how the author used his scientific background to write an excellent story set in two of the places he has lived: Washington State and DC. I liked the main characters and the novel kept my interest all the way through the last page.
