Warrior Shifter #2

Zodiac Chaos

Rate this book
I stopped running from my demons. Because I am them.

Little did I know that the shadows that tormented me my whole life, were calling me to another world. A world where I must join the Aries Academy and learn to become a warrior shifter and protector of the Underworld.

But I’m nowhere near ready for the wicked battles to come.

This is because the dark shaman that’s supposed to help me, is way too distracted having steamy encounters with the beautiful Head of Alchemy at the Academy.

With zero experience and a broken heart, I train with other warriors. But there’s a ruthless mafia boss threatening to destroy all of us, and all he wants is me.

As danger closes in, not a day goes by that I don’t dream of spilling the blood of the Dark Fae that murdered my family and turned the man I love into one of them.

My shaman and I join forces on a bloody quest for revenge and we won’t stop until we have it.

***Note to readers: This is Book 2 of the Warrior Shifter series. Expect steamy, paranormal romance with vampires, fae and shifters. This is not RH. If you like books by Elizabeth Briggs, Jaymin Eve, Caroline Peckham, and Susanne Valenti, you will love this book! (18+).

Luego it was ok. 👌

This is book two of the Warrior Shifter series and the main character is Sasha, a nagual, who has finally found her Shaman, Damian, after he had deserted her for the whole of her life, dealing with his own issues. The story picks up straight after the events in book one, with Sasha having shifted into her jaguar form for the first time, as she tried to save Trent, her boyfriend and fellow soldier, as well as the rest of their unit, from vampires. Damian took her to the Zol Stria realm, where she would go through a ceremony with the other naguals, one from each house of the zodiac, where they will be able to shift back into their human forms again. Not all twelve naguals made it to this stage, five didn’t make it that far! Sasha only made it by the skin of her teeth and her own determination. She wants to travel back through the gate to find Trent and save him, but she can’t leave and must attend the academy, to learn how to control her abilities and learn about magic and so much more.
She really hates Damian for making her life so difficult and not preparing her at all for what is to come next. Some of the other naguals have been trained since they were toddlers or at least the last two years. She has so much catching up to do, but does manage to make a friend of Jenna, her opposite sign, who she is teamed up with for many of their challenges. She can see what happened to Trent, but can still do nothing to reach him. By the time she can get back to the mortal realm, there may be nothing she can do to help him. Damian and Zayne, a nagual from the last group trained about fifty years before Sasha, have their own plans of what they want to do next. Damian wants to find out who killed his love, Lily, Sasha’a aunt, and get his revenge, whilst Zayne wants to stop the Dark Zodiac. The Dark Zodiac want to kill all the naguals, so they can take over the mortal world and use humans as puppets and slaves, and there would be nobody that could stop them! Soon Zayne and Damian manage to get the okay to take Sasha back home to Miami, to gather evidence of any Dark Fae linked to the local mafia groups, after one side was wiped out by a strange weather event.
Damian knows this is a sign of one of the body parts of the UnZol King being used by a Dark Fae. A relic with the power to defeat a nagual. Each of the six relics has a different power and if all six are collected together by one being, the Dark Zodiac could defeat everyone and take over the world again, bringing in darkness and destruction. The trio spend weeks getting close to the mafia in Miami, only to find that one of the Dark Zodiac heads is someone from Sasha’s past and this brings a wealth of emotions for her. Her new status as a nagual means she can have no contact with her family or friends, but she at least gets a very healthy recompense and package of benefits! The story has magic and mystery, with shifters, shamans, vampires, fae, demons and strange creatures of every kind. Sasha will be tempted to run away with the man she loves, but the new purposes he is being trained for is far more important than just two people, however much they have changed. A massive betrayal will change their path and devastate Damian, as he finds out who lost him the love of his life! There are others they still need to find and relics still to recover, if they are to stop the Dark Zodiac and protect the human world. Lots more to come from Sasha and her fellow naguals, in this series, as they continue their studies at the academy and must complete more trials before they can graduate. I received an ARC copy of the book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

I really enjoyed this second full book in this series - it's definitely coming into its own now. In the first book, there was a lots of background information, but this on didn't need that so much and the plot moved much quicker this time round. It was fast-paced and definitely kept me on my toes!

This book picks up straight where book 1 finished. Sasha has entered the Aries Academy, the vampires have her army unit and being in jaguar form there is nothing she can do yet to save them. Her shaman, Damian, leads her through the rituals to accept her nagual form and to develop her magics, but she is still seriously annoyed at the guy. And who wouldn't be, after her abandoned his duty and her training all this time?!

But when her shaman and her professor ask her to go on a mission to retrieve a very powerful relic, she jumps at the chance just in case she can save the one she loves at the same time. However what she soon discovers, is there is more betrayal and treachery in this mission than any of them expected.

Sasha was a great character - she's definitely growing into her own, trying to deal with her emotions as much as she can, whilst still tackling the problems she faces head on. I did like how Damian eventually realised the errors of his ways and I completely understood his reasons for abandoning Sasha. The res of the nagual gang are great secondary characters as well, all pulling together when needed. But I was very surprised at who the main bad guy was this time!

Looking forward to reading the next book in this series!

I received an ARC copy of this book, but this review is all my own.

This is a wonderful story about a woman learning to be who she truly is. I just love Sasha and enjoy watching her evolve, to become even more, in this story. It is tough what she has to go through but she still gets up and does what she has to! Great FMC in an amazing story. I really want more! I loved It!!!.

It’s been a while since I’ve read any paranormal YA. Since I’m now in midlife I started to find the characters in YA a bit irritating and immature - which they’re going to be! - so I stopped reading them and thought it wasn’t for me anymore. Not so with this book, I’m pleased to say. What a fantastic read! I read the prequel and book 1, Zodiac Fate, first and I’d recommend doing so, as the build up and crossover for Sasha from a relatively normal, ordinary life as a teenager (if life connected to the mafia world can be called ordinary or normal!) to a paranormal life in her 20’s is a seamless, natural transition and really well done. At no point, in any of the books, did she come across as overly immature or irritating. I found I could relate to her character and felt for her. Yes, she made mistakes, but from the excellent writing you knew she was just looking in the wrong places for love, belonging and acceptance. Which she eventually found. The former in Trent and the latter with her fellow naguals, but none of it came easily and there’s heartbreak and trauma for Sasha along the way. Which leads to her developing and growing, not just in her magic, but in maturity and as a person too. There’s excitement, action, passion and sorrowful moments, all interwoven with astrology and spirituality, which I loved. I also loved the nod to the 2012 end of the Mayan calendar, brilliant inclusion! The world building and descriptions of the other side of the gate were really good and I could visualise it easily. I found so much to like in this story and it kept expanding and drawing me further in the more I read. Definitely reconverted me back to YA! Well, as long as it’s as fab as R. C. Luna’s writing, which has a depth and maturity to it that I appreciate and resonate with. Honestly, this story has everything I look for in a paranormal series and I can’t praise it enough 😄
I’m loving this author’s writing and storytelling and am so pleased I came across this series. R. C. Luna has jumped straight onto my fave author list and I’m so looking forward to following Sasha’s journey and exploits in the next books. I’d highly recommend this book and series ♥️.

I am still enjoying this series so far, though I’ll be honest, for the first half of this book I all but hated Damien, and I really really don’t like how suddenly the books end, that needs to be done better, but the story it’s is great. It’s exciting and full of action and adventure with wonderfully developed characters and an incredible world with conflict and compassion, family and betrayal, and everything a PNR fan would want from Fae, vampires, shifters and more. Chances are though, if your reading this review, you’ve already read the first book, so what are you waiting for? Grab this one up now and continue the journey!

5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.

4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.

3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.

2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.

1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

All I have got to say is… I did not expect that. This storyline is so UNIQUE but brings up a lot of the same emotions, struggle and excitement that I enjoy from other paranormal romance stories. I love how the author brings in mythology I’m not familiar with, I think it makes the story so much more intriguing.

The guys are hot. The steam is intense. And the world building is on point. I really connect with Sasha’s strength, and even her resistance to certain things. While she’s in this whole new world experience. But what I loved the most, was seeing how everything ties together. I love it when stories come full circle, and this one really does. Especially with the mafia boss. The writing was once again great, even though the pace moved faster with this book in a very good way.

You will definitely love this book! Can’t wait to see what happens in Book 3. I’m here for it!

There's definitely more action in this book than book one! Given that book one was building the series world I can't fault it for that. The pace of this book is much faster so I was drawn into this one a lot more and ended up binging it in one day.

We don't learn much about her unit that Salona has other than Trent.....which we all know we wanted to see what happens with Trent. Buckle up for that ride. Sasha has become so confident within her self, compared to when we met her in book one. She continues to put others first in various situations which says a lot about her character in itself.

Still in water about how I feel about Damian. In my opinion she has every right to resent him the way she does. We also meet Zayne.... I'm not 100% on how he is going to fit in her story line but I'm liking him. I am so ready to read book three. I'm fully invested in this series now.

Zodiac Chaos is full of action and most definitely chaos. There’s secrets, betrayals, love interest, and of course a former love that found their way back. Most importantly, Sasha has created strong bonds with her peers, the Nagual and her Shaman. They have encounter their first mission to only find out that someone not only betrayed them, but had caused someone’s passing many years ago. This was a steamy, adventurous read, that was both captivating and interesting. Will Sasha and her friends end the chaos thats about to erupt? Will there be more lies and betrayal? Is it possible there’s no defeating the dark fae?

I enjoyed this second book in the series a lot more then the first book. This book definitely picks up right where book 1 finished and you see so much more action! I feel like you get a sense of the person who Sasha is becoming and is a wonderful story about a woman learning to be who she truly is. I didn’t care for Damien too much in the beginning and up a little until the middle of the book but after reading why he did what he did I totally understood why he just disappeared. I loved Trent in the first book but there is just something about him that I don’t trust and like about him. Definitely had some curve balls in this book as well. Excited to see what happens in the third book of this series!

Sooooo I don't know if the issue was me or the story. I kept putting this down but there were parts that I was really connected to the story and others that I didn't care what happened to Sasha. This seems like a strong FMC that goes through a lot and really grows and develops. I'd say if you're into PN and like it with a bit of something different then give this book a try.

R.C. Luna's Meso-American tale of Sasha Moreno continues its neck-breaking pace into the world of Zol Stria.

Having survived the ritual, finding out what she is, and trying to navigate the power she is imbued with; has set Sasha on a path that intertwines her past and present.

From the Cartel, past enemies and love, and finding out details of Tia Lilly, sets Sasha and Damian on a complicated path of vengeance and retrieval.

The characters are getting more depths and we get to meet new interesting ones. But I feel that there is still a problem with the time line and the abruptness of the time jumps. The story is still interesting enough to make me want to continue and get to the end of the mystery though.

The adventure we went on in this book! I am so happy that Trent and Sasha were reunited, but I am scared they'll break up because Trent isn't about this life and doesn't understand Sasha has to be. Ixia being a villain, I kinda saw that coming. No way a woman loves a man, watches him fall in love with someone else, and doesn't want revenge. lol Im excited to see where the next book takes me.

So much that I liked about this book but no spoilers so I'll just say it's a very well detailed story with fantastic characters and so many types of magic your head may spin. Are you team T or Z for our favorite Nagual Sasha?

In Zodiac Chaos, we dive right back into Sasha’s world as she faces her biggest challenge yet. She must train at the Aries Academy to become a Warrior Shifter and protector of the Underworld. With zero experience, a heart still healing, and a dark shaman who’s far too distracted, Sasha is thrown into chaos once again. Between brutal training, a ruthless mafia boss closing in, and a bloody quest for revenge against the Dark Fae who shattered her life, this book is a whirlwind of danger, magic, and emotion.

The author skillfully weaves together elements of steamy romance, supernatural creatures like vampires and fae, and intense action sequences. I really enjoyed how much more fast-paced this book was—it’s packed with action, drama, and spice in all the right places. It felt like the perfect glimpse into what’s next for Sasha while finally uncovering what happened to Trent.

Then Trent comes back, and we get to see more of who he’s become. As much as I liked him in the first book, I’m a little unsure how I feel about him going forward. He definitely added a lot to this story, but I can’t help being wary of his intentions. And then there’s Damien—who I didn’t love in the previous books—but here, we finally get a better understanding of him. Seeing his layers unfold and learning what shaped him made his character and the island setting feel even more vivid and well portrayed.

There’s so much emotion running through this story, and it’s portrayed so beautifully. We see Sasha’s heartbreak, her softness, and her strength—all coexisting in a way that makes her feel so real. Even with all her power, she’s still deeply human, and I think that balance was so well done. The suspense and intensity had me hooked from start to finish.

Luna delivers another gripping installment filled with vengeance, passion, and transformation. Zodiac Chaos is a thrilling continuation that shows Sasha’s fire burns brighter—and deeper—than ever before. I read this within a day because it was just that good—and now I can’t wait to start Zodiac Prison!

This series has everything!
It's a dark fantasy romance. The FMC is Latina and is looking for her shaman so she can complete her transformation into a jaguar (nagual). If she doesn't, she'll stay in her jaguar form for the rest of her life. This series will keep you in suspense and it will tell you about the journey of Sasha to find her shaman (which won't be easy). It's a slow burn, but it keeps you wanting to know more. Inside the series, you'll find topics related to horoscopes, the moon, the sun; you'll also see vampires, the mafia, magic, fated mates, found family, and more. You'll also see a little spice 🤭. I recommend this series if you're looking for something related to the zodiac.

Ms Luna's characters are sexy, sultry, and complex. Seriously, I would be tempted to be a Nagual! I liked the ceremony we were invited to as orientation and a crossing over of sorts took place. Miami was intriguing but I think I'd prefer to stay on the other side of the magical gate. Sasha is a character who grows on you and I really want her to succeed in all she sets out to do. Keep 'em coming, Ms Luna - it's a wonderful trip being in the world you've created, not to mention incredibly fiery when the characters connect. Pure spicy hotness!
