Corey's Woodland Adventure . . .

Corey was disappointed when her best friend Sheena changed their beach plans. The new venue is Camp Eldritch and hiking is not her “thing”. Hanging out at the beach or a pool is as far as her enthusiasm for being outdoors goes. A haunted forest was not what she wanted to visit. But apparently Camp Eldritch promises other types of enjoyment as she heard the other girls giggling and hoping to be “chosen”! Then warning them to stay on the marked paths at all times, the guide led them up the mountain the campsite for lunch.

At the first break, the girls took selfies. But when Sheena looked at the one picture Corey took, she pointed at a dark shadow among the trees where Corey was standing. Zooming in, it looked like a giant bat hanging from one of the branches! Everyone had a different opinion of what it was, so Corey just ignored them. They had a huge lunch and later Corey went into the tent to get an early start on sleep. She had no intention of roaming the dark woods on a ghost hunt with the rest of the group after seeing that shadow thing in her picture. When she heard something and came face to face with Frank, she let out a little scream. He had been following his pheromone tracker looking for “something” and didn’t mean to scare her. But he suggested she join the group on the path and not stay here alone. He offered to walk with her to catch up to them and, when the bushes nearby rustled, she agreed to go. But why was the night so silent? When Frank stopped her suddenly, saying the creature was near, a huge bat appeared overhead! She ran into the woods to hide against a huge tree, but Frank wasn’t with her. So she went back to the tent, grabbed her book, and went a little way into the woods. Eyes closed, a pulsing breeze seemed to blow over her. As she opened her eyes, the huge bat hovered in front of her, its wings creating the breeze she had been enjoying! Would it attack her? Would she survive? And then it gently licked along her neck, making soft clicking sounds that made her relax . . .

Peak by Stella Williams goes a little outside my usual list simply because it isn’t a romance. However, if something like an erotic thriller movie that takes place in the woods and that you can devour over your lunch break sounds appealing? I got a story for you.

As someone who typically reviews erotic romance, I think this is a decent accompaniment to your spooky reads list. I admit this story made me curious about Williams’ shifter romance so I might be exploring that pen name some more! I loved the focus on the female climax in this story. It paired perfectly with the bits of creepiness. I almost think Williams could have gone even scarier and it would have still been enjoyable. Maybe more so!

This was a quick steamy read of two girls going on a hiking trip and one getting the best orgasms of her life from a bat like monster.

Literal spice with hardly any plot. Definitely recommend for a quick lunchtime read.

Corey’s Peak

Short, sensational read. Skeptical and disbelieving Corey when camping and received a bonus…from a bat creature. And she will never forget that feeling for the rest of her life.

Sheena booked an unusual girls weekend

Flights of fancy and a huge orgasm giving bat. Corey had a close encounter with a mysterious creature in the woods. And what happened to blogger/ghost hunter Frank? Haunted mountain hike indeed.

A super fun short read with sexy bat-creature shenanigans, a beautiful outdoor setting and lots of humour. Loved the relationship between MC Corey and her best mate Sheena, and the spooky, deep dark forest vibes were perfect. Loved it!

I've read two other books from the author which I enjoyed. This one was somewhat different in genre. It was alright, but not really my cup of tea. I still look forward to what comes next from this recently discovered author. A fast read so give it a go, see what you think for yourself.
