Fallen Over

Rate this book
Since my husband’s death, life hasn’t exactly been roses and cupcakes. I’ve barely existed for the past few years, looking up from the bottom of the grief pit I created after losing him. He’s gone. My friends abandoned me. I can hardly keep it together, but I do… for our daughter.

When I run into Michael, a guy from work who seems to be living in his own pit of despair, we forge a friendship, making our pits seem shallower and life worth living again.

He found my smile.

He awakened my fun side.

If I’m not careful, he’ll awaken… other parts of me, except I need him to remain just a friend. I still feel like I’m married. Plus, losing someone else will destroy me. My heart says “Access Denied,” but Michael is a security expert who can hack into any secure facility.

With Michael around, more might be at risk than just my heart.

*heartfelt sigh* It's been a minute since the last release in the Reed Security series by Robin Leaf but OMG, it was soooooooo worth the wait for Sarah and Michael's (Scotty) story to unfold! This book not only gives you the feels, you know....the steamy chemistry, the banter and innuendo, the heart-changing back stories of both the hero and heroine and the interaction between the side characters (which, I have to say, Ms. Leaf does an AMAZING job of keeping continuity between books!) BUT, with this one, we explore the sometimes difficult to answer and even more difficult to pin down exactly how much time someone needs to grieve the death of a loved one! Who says when it's time to stop, or how long is too long to grieve? It's a powerful component to Sarah and Michael's story, one that had my heart breaking for them but also cheering them on (LITERALLY, talking to my kindle....yeah, I MAY need therapy!)

I loved this book and especially Sarah and Michael's journey! It was EPICALLY realistic and I can't recommend this one strongly enough! I WILL say, you're gonna need your RSK (Romance Survival Kit...tissues, change of panties and alcoholic beverage of choice) for this one! Ms. Leaf does NOT disappoint in any way and I can't WAIT for the next book in this series!!!

5 stars just aren't enough to convey how fanfreakingtastic this book is!! There is an immediate connection between Sarah and Michael "Scotty", but neither will admit there's an attraction. They've both been through some tough love times, Sarah having lost her husband and even after a few years is still mourning. Scotty had his heart ripped out, and hasn't wanted to open himself up to someone again...then he meets Sarah and that all changes. They both feel the same, but believe the other doesn't, so both are in denial...and that lasts quite awhile even though everyone else around them can see what is going on, they continue to shout the friendship card....not that anyone believes either one. Scotty even meets Sarah's adorable daughter Angelina and there is an instant bond between them and it tugs at your heart. Robin has given us a story about heartbreak, grief, and the road to the other side of all that, and she has given us a slow burn story that you won't be able to put down!! I absolutely adore Robin and her words, and she just gets better with every book I read and I can't wait to see what she has in store next!!

I absolutely loved this story. Sarah and Scotty have this wonderful journey through friendship to become a romance that we all hope to find. They are the couple that has a slow burn that builds a strong and beautiful relationship. She learns to conquer her fear of moving on, while he learns that people can truly be good and won't hurt him, like they have in the past.

I truly cannot say enough flattering words about this book. It had me sucked in from chapter one and I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but trust me when I say that you will fall for Scotty and feel for Sarah deeply. The heartbreak they both have in their past may not be the same heartbreak, but they find peace, healing, friendship, and love in each other. Pure romance perfection in a book that makes your heart get attached to the characters in a way few books can.

Absolutely worth the wait

There are not a lot of authors I will drop everything for, just to read their latest book. I will do that for Robin Leaf.
With Fallen Over Robin gives us something new and unexpected every time. She is most definitely not known for slow burn, but this time that's what you get... And this story needs it.
Sarah, a widow and single mom, and Michael, a regular grump, form a snarky friendship that slowly transitions into something more.
This book deals with grief, coming out of that fog, how to deal with attraction while also feeling guilt.
It's a beautifully written story, characters very believable, and just overall unputdownable.
I can not recommend this book or this author enough.

Holy slow burn batman! Fallen Over is a perfect example of why Robin Leaf is one of my favorite authors. Leaf has an incredible knack for developing her characters to the point that you feel you truly know them. Sarah and Scotty's story elicited the full gamut of emotions caused by heartbreak, grief, betrayal, and healing.
Four years after the death of her husband, Sarah remains firmly rooted in the grieving process, unable to move forward. Scotty’s heart was broken by the ultimate act of betrayal. Neither is open to the possibility of a relationship, but they soon realize that their friendship is the salve needed to initiate the healing process.
The Reed Security series gets better with every book. Do yourself a favor and indulge in Scotty and Sarah’s story of learning how to love after unfathomable heartbreak. I cannot wait for the next installment to fall in love with another Leaf hero/heroine!!!!

Fallen Over is the latest offering by author Robin Leaf and this book sees a continuation to the Reed Security Series which gives readers interesting and diverse characters to enjoy and love.
Book #4 has Michael 'Scotty' Scott & Sarah Rogers form a work related friendship that masks an attraction that the both of them try to resist.
Both Sarah & Michael have experienced pain & loss from previous relationships, although the circumstances of those losses are quite individually contrasting. But it is the way they allow that loss to affect their ongoing relationships that tends to create the tension in this story.
This couple's relationship is a slow burning fuse that leads the reader on quite an anticipatory journey.
The story explores some difficult issues in relation to grief. Grief in many forms, whether that be due to the death of a loved one or due to the loss of relationships between partners, family & friends.
Although for me, the slow burn tends to drag on a little too long, Robin Leaf cannot be accused of having shallow characters. The slow development of the romance and sexual chemistry allows us to really get to know Sarah & Michael and finally appreciate the eventual fireworks when it does happens.
What this author does well, is use her side/secondary characters to enhance and amplify each story and she has done this again in Fallen Over, specifically in the form of Sarah's daughter and sister.
Although Fallen Over has loss as its underlying theme, the humour and entertaining banter between all characters makes this book a great read.

Ever read a book that so profoundly affects you, that you don't even know what to say? I'm an author, words are my thing, but not this time. I read this book at a time when I could completely identify with the heroine. I, too, was afraid to move on from a situation. My world was upside down, inside out, and backward. I'm always the fun one, but I began to feel like a fun sucker. I was at the bottom of the abyss wondering how it got this deep. My husband didn't die. That is our difference. What do you do when you fought tooth and nail for this altered version of the life you really wanted? Do you dare to want more? Do you start over? How do you move on when you still feel committed to a previous path? Without the slow burn, character-focused, and frankly amazing writing of Robin Leaf, I wouldn't question anything. I would have happily read a steamy romantic comedy, because it is that, too. I would have five-starred it and smiled cheerily waiting for the next book. However, I was so captivated, drawn in, and slapped in the face with feelings, decisions, and emotions that every person feels when they recover from grief, to notice there was hope, too. Like the heroine, I needed to take the time to feel it. You will not regret diving in.

This story! Robin continues to be an author I enjoy reading and look forward to. She adds in heart, humor, love, and relatability.
Sarah found her home without even realizing it. It was with Reed Security and specifically Scotty. He was patient, kind, and loved her in a way any woman wants to be loved. Scotty made me smile, swoon, and melt.
The story flowed in a delicious slow burn that kept you engaged. I didn't feel like I was missing anything from the story, and if anything, was excited for the next book!
I definitely recommend this story.

Absolutely superb

I loved this book. It draws you in, & you can feel the love and emotions of all the characters. Sarah, a widow with a young daughter, falls for Scotty but is afraid that she's cheating on her deceased husband. I just could feel their emotions. Best book of the series so far!

This is a wonderful, slow burn, amazing story. With very realistic reactions to heartbreak and loss. Sarah and Michael are on a long journey from closed off from the world to coming to terms with loss and learning to love again. You will not be disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend this book.
