A corrupted ritual reveals my fated mates... and the danger my magic poses to everyone I love.

Kidnapped and forced to attend Brookview Academy, I find myself in a dangerous world full of witches and warlocks who want to bring back the power of their ancestors. The very same magic my parents had warned me about before their death.

Everyone here wants something from me, making it harder to know who I can trust, and my only way out is to escape before it’s too late.

My magic is the key, and the secret society will be one step closer to their sinister goals if I bond with my soulmates. But the guys aren’t exactly jumping at the chance to bind themselves to me...

If I give them what they want, I’ll be unleashing devastating magic that could destroy us all. Worse, I’d betray the memory of my parents and everything I believe in.

Can I discover the light in the dark and claim my happiness, or will I lose everything... including my magic?

Splintered was my first book by AJ Moran and I look forward to reading much more by her in the future. If you're a fan of academy books with mixed harem members such as shifters, phantoms, and demigods as well as a teacher/student taboo relationship, this is a fantastic book to pick up! You'll also get a dose of fated mates, new m/m introductions (just a heads up since it's not always everyone's cup of tea), and some major secrets hiding within Brookview Academy. Expect the unexpected with this book as quite a few surprises pop up as you follow along with Juliana and her mates.

I absolutely loved Juliana as the fmc. I think one of the great things about Juliana is that she knew she had this massive amount of power, but she didn't rub it in anyone's face. There were even students bullying and teasing her about not having strong powers and she could have easily put them in their place if she wanted to, but she kept her powers locked, keeping herself and everyone else safe. I think that showed the difference between what she and someone else who valued power more than she did would do in a situation like this. At a school that is made to help supernaturally powered people control and tame their abilities, Juliana chooses to refrain on using her powers as much as she can whereas any of the other students with powerful parental lines would have used that magic no matter how uncontrollable it was and flaunted it, manipulated everyone around them, and used it as a scare tactic. With that said, I know Juliana will not be able to keep them as dormant as she would like, so I'm very interested to see what all she is capable of when she fully understands and controls her powers, as she is already pretty impressive when she does use them.

I feel like with any academy book, there's always some corrupt type of group or leader, so I wasn't surprised by their being a secret society at the school. However, the way they went about their plans and their main goal was very intriguing and I loved how it brought Juliana and her mates together, no matter how sinister the intentions were. The whole situation was a complicated one as finding your mate, or mates in this case, was such an incredible thing, but the repercussions of completing the bonds or not bonding at all made it dangerous for this group no matter the decision they made.

This book was an adventure, that's for sure, and that cliffhanger was something I sort of saw coming but wasn't sure how it would actually play out (still a great one though!). I'm very excited to see what becomes of Juliana and her guys in the next book and to see whether Tristan is the good guy or the bad guy. Time will tell!

Splintered is my first read from author AJ Moran and I am so happy I found it through the RH Dark PNR Academy Reader Group! It is a super entertaining why-choose academy romance with a lot of magic, a bit of darkness, and one very sexy dirty-talking professor (hello student/teacher forbidden relationship trope).

The FMC, Juliana, has been kidnapped from her mundane life and brought to Brookview Academy to gain control of her powers. Powers she has refused to tap into for years out of fear of the darkness inside. The Society has a particular interest in her abilities as she comes from a potent line of witches and may prove to be the key to a ritual they’ve been trying, and failing, to perform. Four men are drawn to her – Oliver, her assigned Guardian; Jacob, the cursed Phantom; Alexander, the demi-god son of Styx; and Gage, the wolf-shifter professor. All of them make her blood race and her core clench.

While they are fated mates, at no point are their relationships guaranteed. The men must work to prove their worth to Juliana. She doesn’t trust their intentions (with good reason). I absolutely loved that about the book. The best parts were Gage’s interactions with Juliana. His attempts to control his animalistic urges and the filthy way he talks when he gives in. So hot.

I loved the whole book! It did start slow, but the pace quickly picked up, then that ending came way too soon. Beware, it ends on a hell of a cliffhanger! Book two cannot come fast enough.

Wow! I was excited to read this and it didn't disappoint.

This book is just non stop from the kidnapping to the academy it gets your attention right away.

Juliana is living a regular life working and while she knows there's magic out there she keeps her distance from it. On her way to work she's kidnapped and taken to an academy. Turns out she has magic and in order to be allowed to leave she must master it. While there she learns of a sinister secret society and missing girls.

Oliver is a guardian he was tasked with getting Juliana to the academy. He feels an attraction to her but he comes off as an a$$h0le. He's under the control of his brutal father and knows of the dangers at the academy. All of this combines to make him protective of Juliana.

Next up we have Jacob our resident stalker. He can become a phantom and uses that ability to spy on Juliana. He feels an attraction to her as well but because he's been cursed he attempts to keep a distance from her.

Alexander is a demigod sent to the academy at the request of his mother. He's never fit in with his more powerful family and didn't feel like he fit in at the academy either. That is until he met Juliana. He comes off as shy and nerdy but he's anything but that.

Lastly we have Gage a professor at the academy. He's a shifter and any type of relationship with Juliana would mean he loses his job. His temperament is perpetually angry and moody. That's just because he's constantly battling to keep things professional.

Each relationship builds at its own pace some of it happens very quickly but others are paced at a slower rate. Now there's MM between some of the guys and can I just say it was 🔥🔥🔥.

The introduction of Tristan and the cliffhanger ending just leaves you wanting more. Seriously when's the next one coming out? Cause I needed it yesterday. Definitely pick it up and clear your schedule cause you're not going to want to stop reading.

Why??

Another soul crushing cliffhanger? These authors are gonna kill me. What can I say about this book except that I absolutely loved it and hope that book two will be out sooner, rather than later. I love Juliana and her harem of men, maybe another will be added in book two of the spicier variety? Plus you have foreshadow of everyone’s past which will hopefully answer some questions brought forward by this book. A vivid world built, characters fully flushed and their own persons, this is a great build up to what can only be one of the great series people will be talking about, once it is complete.

Splintered blew my mind. I really love the push and pull between Juliana and her mates Oliver Alexander Gage and Phantom aka Jacob. And the growth of Juliana and her powers. This book had me on the edge it was exciting steamy sexy intriguing and mysterious. I am curious about Tristan and wether or not he is a soulmate I'm kinda hoping he is. But that ending had me gasping I really need book two this one is going to leave me in withdraws.

Phenomenal!!

Everything about Julianna and her men, I LOVE!! The world building is amazing and extremely creative. The characters each have their own personalities, and are written beautifully. I'm licking the professor for myself, and taking him from the fmc. I love his dominance. Bring on book 2!!

I’m seriously impressed with the whole story line and how much drama and suspense there is in every character’s relationship with her life and relationships with her men. If you are looking for adventure and drama everywhere this is an exciting story about how everyone loves each other fiercely and protective they are.

Reverse harem

Will Juliana and her mates be able to compete against the secret society at their academy? She's powerful, but is trying not to misuse this against others. This book has a cliffhanger that left me ready to read more!!

First book by AJ Moran and LOVED it. Great characters, world building and plot kept me turning page after page. I was fully invested in Juliana, the struggles she faces and the decisions she must make. The guys were a roller coaster themselves and the spice, ooof. I can't wait for the next book!

Wow this book was a definite surprise! I’m going to be honest I didn’t check the warnings or read anything about this one before. I wanted to go in totally blind and I’m so glad I did. In the beginning I thought I was getting a totally different book then the one I ended with. This is a why choose, bonded mates. I loved the whole Academy vibe. The minute Julianna wakes up at Broookview it’s nonstop twists & turns. And let s not forget about the spice and boy did it deliver. The tension was chiefs kiss. If you loved The Magicians or The Order you’ll definitely love this book. I don’t have triggers so I don’t mind jumping into books blind but please do your research make sure your comfortable with what your reading. This was definitely not a ya book, 18+ for sure. I definite recommend for me. Perfect for going into spook season. Happy Reading Book Besties 💙

~5/5 Witchy Stars⭐

July must be my lucky month, because so far, I have loved everything I've read so far this month! This book included🫶🏾 Let me start by saying that I went into this book completely blind, like didn't even read the book summary blind. This was one of the books I downloaded on stuff your kindle day, and it's safe to say I was pleasantly surprised! Turns out this is a reverse harem (thank god, y'all know RH has me in a chokehold) that takes place at the prestigious Brookview Academy, think college, but for witches, warlocks, and charged up supes. And if that isn't enough, there's also shifters, phantoms, AND demigods galore (Percy Jackson anyone???). After being kidnapped and forced to attend Brookview Academy, Juliana quickly realizes that everything is not as it seems....Something much more sinister is going on, and the academy's secret society seems to be at the center of it. With girls regularly going missing and turning up dead, Juliana starts to fear that Brookview might not be as safe as it seems. But little does she know, she has a few fated mates that are willing to do anything to keep her safe. This was such an excellent read! Flawless writing, spice, and magic are the best qualities a book can have! Juliana is such a great FMC, she's extremely powerful, yet she doesn't go around flaunting and abusing it. It makes her an easily likeable character IMO. She's also headstrong, determined, and takes no shit from anyone. Fated mates included🤞🏾As for the mates in question? SO HOT. Like criminally hot. Like I'd do anything for any of them hot. Nothing like an RH author who knows how to create sinfully hot men with a sense of individuality and personality😩 But in true RH fashion, I have to pick a favorite. Now, normally I like my men cold, moody, and indecisive. Butttt, this time around, I'm going for the overprotective, emotionally damaged, shy one. Ollie this one goes out to you boo! Before I wrap this review up, I should also mention this does feature some MM, which I'm gonna be honest, usually isn't my thing. However, A.J. Moran does it so well! I'm over here questioning if maybe I DO like MM in my harems🤔.....Long story short, this book is filled with magic, romance, conspiracies, and secret societies, and I COULD NOT put it down, so on to book #2 I go!

As always,

Happy Reading❤️

Written in such a fluent and articulate way, it didn’t take long for this story to quickly grab be my shoulders an pull me right in! The authors writing style, her world building, character development, is seriously superb! I have never really understood how people can say they have a favorite authors writing style , to me it was all words on a paper, and now, I get it, and it’s like a light bulb went off in my head an it was seriously such an ah-ha moment! I seriously just thought people were always just saying that to juice up their reviews! I freaking get it now 🥰
Okay, back to the book, seriously freaking phenomenal. The book starts off with Juliana, the FMC , getting “kidnapped” and thrown into a brand new life at Brookview Academy, where she is told she has to get her powers under control or she won’t be able to leave. From the moment she steps foot on campus, connections are starting to be made and felt between her an 4 of the males on campus (one teacher, if the forbidden love is your jam😜) which gives you your down right sexy & smoking hott 🔥 RH group, (with some M/M action to 🥵) please I almost couldn’t take it! I love me some RH, but it’s something about the relationships mingled between this one that was tearing me apart (in the best of ways)
You also have the sinister activities of the Secret Society going on. girls keep on coming up missing and dying, and the school is told it was demons that broke through the protection barrier around the school and killed them. But Juliana knows better, after all she seen it with her own eyes, or did she? Seas that real? Or was it just a dream?
And like any good start to a series, of course we are left on a pretty jaw dropping cliffhanger- no worries, book 2 is released on Oct 1
If you are looking to be captivated and drawn into a wonderful world of magic and mystery, with a storyline that will keep you on your toes as well as curl them 😜🔥🥵 then this is definitely the book for you!!

Juliana has always known that she has magic, but she also knows that bad things happen when she uses her magic. So, for years, she’s buried it deep within her, and refused to use her magic. Until she’s kidnapped and brought to Brookview Academy, so that she can learn to control her magic. She’s determined to leave, but a spell on the campus won’t allow her to until she can control her magic. Sadly, that’s not the only thing that she has to worry about. Secret societies and missing girls plague the campus, and she quickly finds herself up to her ears in it all. And attracted to, or involved with, a whole slew of men that she shouldn’t be. When it looks like the secret society’s eyes might be set on her next, all she has to do is survive, but can she?

I really enjoyed this story. There was mystery and intrigue. There was a will-they or won’t-they romance. A forbidden romance. Ghosts, shifters, and witches. Really, what more could you ask for? I found myself lost in this world, and I look forward to seeing what comes next!

Absolutely obsessed with the storyline! Such an awesome paranormal lineup - with the FMC, Juliana, being a rare type. I really enjoyed how all of the characters interacted with each other and how a few of the main character men had been friends or an acquaintance. Juliana and her soulmates had some super steamy chemistry and their scenes had me 🥵🥵 There was also a few MM scenes that were 🔥

Throughout the book there was quite a bit of action, drama and suspense over protecting their mate bonds and keeping their power a secret. They all worked together to fight off their common enemy. There was also an enemy that came to light towards the end of the book and left us with a cliffhanger. And its a good one!

Cannot even wait to read the next book!

Was the writing a little premature kind of but dang was this a great book. Like I’m usually used to intricate writing where I have to use more brain power to follow along so this book threw me for a loop with how easy it was to follow along. Honestly some points for like Wattpad cringe moments but the great moments overpower those. Honestly the building relationships between each guy is its own experience and so good in its own and honestly the MC is really stubborn and doesn’t easily back down. Some of her moments weren’t the greatest but besides those she was pretty likeable. But if I could rate this book it would be 3.5-4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you just want an easy follow along book with about 🌶️🌶️🌶️ rating this is your book!!!

Hot as Hades

Juliana didn't think she had any magic, until Brookview Academy after being kidnapped. She meets 4 amazing men there, who will change her life. Oliver the serious Guardian, Jacob the mischievous big hearted cursed Phantom, Professor Gage Alder a half wolf & warlock shifter, & Demigod Alexander. Each point of view is spot on and you get to see through their eyes vividly. Each man brings something different to Juliana's life. Together they will do things no one has in over a thousand years. Highly addictive book. Get ready for Unbreakable now. Smoking hot! Oh yes there's a secret society too. Mystery, romance and intrigue await.

Sadly I'm disappointed. After watching a murder and being chased she's turned on by someone that scared her earlier in the day.
Why can't the FMC react appropriately and have the attraction take just a bit longer?

There were a few moments that I liked. But a large portion of the book has no real substance. The spice is great. But the actual plot itself is lacking severely. So much wasted time on nothing when the author could have been giving us a more detailed description of everyone involved and the role they play.

Juliana was just a child. I understand the bratty trope but this went beyond that and she came across as a petulant child with no ability to use logic. There was a lot of unnecessary nonsense that left the characters feeling under developed. It was just an underwhelming read.

Worst Book Ever
the storyline is so bad you don’t get what’s going on. I cringed the whole time. The characters are purely introduced to be sex partners to the main character. There are sexual assaults, ?rape?, perversity.
Don’t even try to read it, it’s impossible

It was fun at first, but the FMC started getting really irritating after a while, so I stopped reading. Alexander and Oliver genuinely just wanted to help her, but she kept getting upset for no real reason and arguing with them even though they only wanted her to be safe
