Five hundred years ago, facing extinction, a group of powerful witches united to create a pact with the Were to save Witch-kind. The pact expelled an ancient evil, known only as the Darkness, that blocked the Were from their wolves. With the Darkness destroyed, the Packs and Covens grew strong as they thrived beside each other in their brand-new world.
But the Darkness was not destroyed.
Skye Collins has been brought up to fear her magic and shy away from Witch and Were alike. But when Jason McVale, the Alpha of Pack McVale, comes in search of her, she is intrigued and tempted. Yet, the intensity of passion she shares with Jason threatens her control – and if she loses control, she just might turn into the weapon the Darkness intended her to become all along.
Can she trust this Were when he says his Pack will die without her? More importantly, can she trust her magic before the Darkness has its way?
If stories of wild magic, shifters, witches, fated mates and the struggle against evil are your nirvana, then the award nominated Pack Bound Series is for you.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I did buy this book, and I hope to buy the rest of the series too when I can.
This is my first time reading this author’s work, and it is also the first book in the series. This is definitely an adult book with violence and steamy content. A thing of note that you may want to know, I did have to look up some words because this author is from Australia, so at least for me, I didn’t know some of the words until I looked them up. I don’t have a problem with this because learning is lifelong, and I love it.
This world is exciting for me because it is set in Australia, and it is interesting that Witches and Weres are bound together to survive. I found the premise very cool. This book has a lot of mystery and intrigue, and things I just didn’t see coming with all the twists and turns. I love when I can’t predict what is happening. I really like Skye because she goes through a lot, and she could quit or give up, but she doesn’t. Jason, Adam, and Tom are awesome, and I loved their characters. I’m hoping to see more of them all in the next book. Of course, there are evil bad guys, but can you figure out who they are.
I recommend to all shifter and witch fans because this is an intriguing story with tons going on and a new spin that you will love! I can’t wait for the next book! I think the series will get better and better!
Pack Bound was one of the titles I found on NetGalley and it has taken me quite sometime to get to it on my reading list. That being said, I am kicking myself for waiting so long to read this book. Leighton does a great job at bringing many elements together. I would say the book is more on the adult fiction side because of the graphic sex scenes and a sexual assault/rape scene, but all the sexual content was well handled and tasteful. They were not over the top and by no means is that the focus of the book. It’s not an erotic fiction, but does have some erotic scenes. Leighton does not hold back on the swearing either, which I absolutely loved because it added to the relatability of the character’s and the intensity of the situations.
Pack Bound is about a young lady named Skye who has no recollection of her childhood other than the tragedy that left her and her twin brother orphaned. However, she will have to face her past and rise up to her responsibilities and harness her magical powers. Skye comes from a long line of witches and warlocks and she belongs to a pack of Werewolves. Every pack has a Pack-Witch/ Warlock and every pack is reliant on their Pack-Witch. They share a symbiotic relationship. It has been this year for hundreds of years and without a Pack-Witch the coven will be Cursed and die off. Skye is that witch for the McClune coven but she is oblivious to that fact until now.
I have to give credit to Leighton because this book was written well and had an undeniable flow that kept the reader enticed and longing to know what the next page had to offer. The book was not boring at all even though certain aspects of the book have been over played the past few years like werewolves, witches, soulmates, curses etc. Leighton does a good job at bringing these old concepts into a refreshing take and at the the very least creates a story that makes you curious how these concepts will play out.
Leighton builds her characters with many different traits and none of them are one dimensional, which makes the reader empathize with each character. Some of the characters you want to hate but as you read on you can not deny why they committed such deceivingly evil behaviours. Leighton makes in clear in her book that relationships overall are a fierce driving force and they are not to be taken lightly.
Skye is an easy character to like and understand. She is an ambitious and fiery young lady with the ability to empathize with others, but denies herself her own emotions and desires. We get to watch as Skye expands and grows in her own understanding of her feelings and how to manage them, but also witness her genuine fear of what that could mean for those she loves. Bron and Shelley are Skye’s best friends and they are Wiccans (not as powerful as witches/warlocks). Shelley is a beautiful blonde bombshell but she seems very introverted and observant rather than vying to be centre of attention, which I enjoyed. I think as the series continues we will learn more about Shelley and peel back some of those layers. Bron is the outgoing and brutally honest one. She does not hold back on her thoughts or questions and is very knowledgeable as a healer. Again, as the series progresses I can see more light being shone on Bron’s character. Then there is Jason and Adam, the Were brother’s. Jason is the Alpha of the McClune coven and will stop at nothing until Skye is his mate and their Pack-Witch. You can feel Jason’s strength through the pages of the book and his confidence as a leader. He is very sure of what his goals are and he is full of determination. Adam is the Trickster of the coven, which means that he tries and keeps everyone lighthearted and well spirited. Skye slowly discovers that Adam is more than just a jokester and that there is more to his character. He is a cultured individual and enjoys cooking, but I have a feeling we will find out more about him in future books. River is Skye’s twin brother who never leaves their grandmother’s house because his mind is unwell. Morrigan is Skye’s grandmother and Skye has a complicated relationship with her and her grandfather Harrison. There are things that Skye is unaware of and will have to come to terms with and why her grandparent’s made certain decisions for her.
I will not ruin who the antagonist is but I will say that Leighton does a good job at tying everything together at the end of the book and developing a good cliffhanger to continue the series.
I did not realize that Leighton did not develop a thorough setting in her novel until I sat down to think about the book and this was because the plot and characters continued to have the reader engulfed with their story lines. There were places but nothing was described in-depth, but because of this the reader could envision the scene to their own personal preference.
I really enjoyed seeing how all the characters interacted and how Leighton did not neglect anyone, or use any one dimensional characters as plot movers. Even though a fair bit of the concepts have been played out over and over again, I couldn’t help but read on and get lost in the book. I could not wait to read the second book in the series and if I’m being honest I’ve started reading Moon Bound. Already it is apparent that the reader is seeing some of the depth of the other characters like River, Bron and the antagonist (which I have left unnamed). Actually I am chomping at the bit to continue reading the next book, so with that I will leave you to get into Pack Bound. Definitely worth a read if you are into fantasy, magic, Were, witches, curses and revenge plots.
This series is off to a great start! Witches and Were came together to fight the darkness and now are threatened by its very existence in one girl whose powers have been bound. The world building is amazing, the storyline gripping, exciting and entertaining and the characters are strong and captivating. It’s frustrating, it’s intriguing, it’s got betrayal , it’s got deception, it’s got magic, it’s got a struggle between good and evil and then there’s great chemistry. Everything you need for a paranormal fantasy read!
This is an intriguing story with shifters and witches. The author does a fantastic job pulling you in and kept me reading right to the last page. The characters are strong and the story flows fluidly with descriptive scenes. If this is your genre, you will love this book! I can't wait for the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I've always found relationships between witches and Shifters interesting. These couples tend to make for great stories if both are strong characters which I believe Skye and Jason bring in this story. I'm looking forward to see where they will take us in their next journey.

This is the first in the series and as such had some heavy lifting to do in world building. The concept is a world where witch covens and werewolf packs are bound together to push against an evil darkness that was destroying the werewolves. The witch power feeds through the pack and empowers them and enables them to "change".
I really liked the concept and was intrigued by how it was drawn together to create this world. The book, probably books, are set in Australia and I would have liked to have some hint about what brought an ancient werewolf pack and their witches to Australia. Given that wolves are so territorial.
The romance is between Skye Collins, a pack witch who was kidnapped as a child and hidden and Jason McVale, the new alpha of the pack Skye is supposed to be bound to.
When Jason finds Skye, he is shocked that she doesn't recognised him or what he is and that she doesn't seem to have any control over her witch powers. But he needs her desperately for the survival of the pack and for his own need as her destined mate, so he pursues.
Skye is bound by fear. So much so that I found her annoying a lot of the time. It's not her fault. It's been forced onto her by her grandparents who had their own motivations for keeping her from her destiny. And it's not as simple as it first appears. But still annoying.
I found the story very uneven at times. Even the quite well written initial smex scene between Skye and Jason lacked a connection for me. I was really, can we just get on with the story, so perhaps it simply came a little too early for me. Then things would happen and I'd be totally involved. Then Skye would be annoying. Jason and his brother Adam and nephew Tom were totes adorbs BTW, as was River, the tortured twin brother of Skye. River's story is next up.
It's a big ask, introducing an entire world concept and I think this is the strength of the book. It does have an ongoing conflict arc so be warned that if you want to know the end, you will probably have to read all four books.
The characters are well drawn (even the annoying ones). I am intrigued by River and the final story about Adam and Shelly looks like being a doozy.
The climax in this story is engrossing and very edge of the seat. Even if Skye was still a bit annoying.
Overall, if you are interested in a nice witch coven slash werewolf series, this could be an appealing read.
This is the first book in the PackBound Series. It is the story of Skye, a witch whose powers are bound because she can’t control them and Jason, a wolf pack Alpha. The packs were cursed by a witch, long ago, so that they couldn’t transform (mainly because they had failed to keep their pack witch safe). A pact was created between witches and weres so that as long as they kept their pack witch safe, the witches could use their magic and help transform the weres. However, if the pack witch was not kept safe then the curse was activated. Jason is looking for Skye, since she is his pack witch. However, he doesn’t realize that Skye has been brought up to believe her magic is evil and her power is bound. He finds her and then realizes she is his mate.
This was a well written book. The dialogue flowed well, grammatically it was correct. The writing was good. The story was interesting and different. But I felt that the pacing was slightly off. The first half of the book was spent with Skye denying anything and everything and then all of a sudden there was an influx of information and non-stop action. A lot happened and kept happening that it felt like one couldn’t catch a breath. Partly because of this, there was romance in the first quarter of the book and then it went by the wayside of fated mates (which felt like an easy way out). A lot of curveballs were thrown - more than necessary and yet everything was easily resolved in the last few pages. It felt like the author quickly wanted to tie everything up in a bow and so suddenly all the different issues resolved. It was just a little too pat. I was also frustrated with the h’s grandparents who seemed all over the place and didn’t seem to know anything about what they were doing or how they were guiding her. One expected better from her grandfather at least considering what he was. Having said that, it was a good book overall and I would recommend it.

Wow! I have found a new author to read! Leisl Leighton brings readers a new paranormal romance series – Pack Bound - about a symbiotic relationship between wolves and witches and a group that would do anything to destroy their bond. In the first book – Pack Bound – we find the Alpha of Pack McVale searching for their pack witch but what he ends up finding is so much more. Jason and Skye are strong, captivating characters with some electrifying chemistry that readers can feel sparking from every page. Their romance however is full of turmoil and obstacles that the couple must overcome in order to have their ever after which inspires readers to empathize with the couple while adding depth to the story.
Suspense and anticipation builds throughout the fast paced plot that is full of thrills, secrets and danger which keeps readers on the edge of their seats while unforeseen twist and turns throughout keeping them guessing. The magic in the story adds excitement and just who the bad guys are is anyone’s guess until the disclosure and the antagonist is one that sent shivers down my spine and the plans are the stuff of nightmares.
Leisl Leighton has created a world full of intrigue and captivating characters that draw you into the story and hold readers hostage until the very end. I was certainly spellbound throughout and I can’t wait to read the Moon Bound, which will be released in a couple of weeks.
This is an interesting new look at the relationship between witches and were’s, how their partnership started and how it works.
Skye Collins, a witch with bound powers due to her inability to control them, meets with Jason McVale, the Alpha of a wolf pack. Skye is their specific pack wolf they are designated to protect and who, in turn, makes it possible for them to shift. But Skye has been raised to think her powers are evil and dangerous.
Originally, this relationship between witches and weres began when the packs were first cursed by a witch to be unable to transform into their beast. Eventually they agreed that if the pack kept their pack witch safe, witches would help the weres to transform. Otherwise, the curse would go into effect.
So Jason seeks out their pack witch, Skye, not knowing her powers have been bound. Most surprising to him, he discovers she is his mate. And the way she feels around him makes her afraid that she will lose control of her powers. Would it all lead back to the Darkness which they had all thought was destroyed? Was this what the Darkness had intended all along? If she cannot trust her magic, the Darkness will win.
I really got into this book. Skye is scared of her magic. She has been taught that it is bad and all she does is hurt people with it/because of it. Jason is now pack leader and needs Skye to take her place as their pack witch. The problem is, she doesn't remember anything. I felt bad for both Skye and Jason at the start. Skye is just oblivious and it is obvious that she is terrified. Jason is so frustrated because he knows she knows but cannot force her remember.
Jason's nephew may have been my favorite character, though his brother is a close second. Honestly, all the characters in the book were well done. I did figure out who the 'bad guy' was before the reveal but I hadn't figured out all the ins and outs of it. Skye's twin, I was heartbroken for. There are a lot of emotions through the book and it was really well written.
It was a 4/5 for me. I am ready to read the next book of the series!
Thank you to the publisher/author for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and as such wasn’t sure quite what to expect, you never know if you will like the style of writing etc. Anyway I really liked the style, though it seemed to take almost the whole book before you really understood what was happening and as such the last few chapters were full of the climax of the the story. I did enjoy the book but I do have to admit that I nearly put the kindle down quite a few times because I just couldn’t seem to keep going. There were places I really struggled with it but Ultimately I wanted to find out what was going to happen. Usually I’m a fan of long books because then the plot and any relationship/ sex scenes get equal attention. This book was the opposite in that it felt too long with not enough happening. However I did enjoy it enough to want to read the rest of the books in the series. I’m very keen to find out what happens to River and if he can be helped by his sister and her friends.

I really enjoyed reading this book and could not put it down from start to finish. A great start to the series, the story was well thought out, brilliantly written and the characters were fantastically developed with great chemistry. A great start to a paranormal shifter romance series, a gripping storyline filled with magic, mystery, intrigue, deception, action, enemies, friendship, romance, obstacles to overcome, plenty of blind twists and a fantastic ending making you want to pick up the next book. I cannot wait to find out what happens next as the series continues. I hope to read plenty more books by the great new to me author Leisl Leighton in the future.

I absolutely loved this book. Skye is a very powerful, untrained witch who has had her powers suppressed. Jason is an Alpha wolf shifter. Skye is the Pack Witch but she doesn't know it and won't let out the repressed memories as she fears it will hurt her twin brother who is slowly going feral. There is a lot of suspense in this book with several twists. I really felt for Skye as she had lost so much and was scared of what might happen if she lets her powers loose. As well as everything else going on there is a rogue coven who want her powers and people who may not be who you think they are. I loved this book and highly recommend it. Can't wait for the next one in the series.

I was really excited about reading this book, because it’s about witches. But I have to admit it was quite a disappointment for me. This story is about Skye, who possesses magic which we learn directly at the start of the story. She also lives together with the friends (?) who also have some powers. This book had 190 pages on my ereader, and in the first 100 pages not much happened. At that point I lost my attention for this story, so I lost my focus for the rest of the story. I give this book 2 stars because it was to slow and too simple.
500 years ago a witch cursed a pack of werewolves. The pack alpha, Jason has discovered a powerful witch and is surprised to find out she is his mate. Skye is afraid to use her magic because of an accident that put her twin in a coma was her fault. Together they attempt to change the curse before an ancient witch uses Skye and her twin in a death ceremony to regain her youth and unlimited power. The story will thrill fans who like paranormal romances. This is book one in a series. I received this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I gave this one a four if for nothing else than the amazing world building. This is the first book of this author that I have read and her amazing world building is what kept me pulled in from page one.
This book deals with shifters, witches, curses, spirits and more.
Not super heavy on the spice, there are a couple of triggering scenes and triggering things that happen to the main h when she was younger that can be seen as triggers, but overall amazing book.

I love love loved this. I’m a sucker for paranormal romance and was drawn to the beautiful cover. The main male character Jason is swoon-worthy, the way he woos and fights for the woman he loves. I enjoyed the secondary storyline of Tom (Jason’s nephew). It showed another side to Jason.
I’m interested to read the rest of the series to find out more about the other characters.
Overall a really well-paced read with likeable characters and great chemistry.
A brilliant story but keep your tissues handy. Very dark and full of betrayal this is the start of a series and although the story is complete there is more to come. You really will want to read right through from start to finish without putting it down but be warned if you are prone to nightmares this is not your light hearted bedtime story
I recieved an arc and this is my honest and voluntary review
This has the best meet cute I've read in years. I also found myself reading until 1am. That's a clear sign that I'm hooked in a book. I loved it from start to finish and I've downloaded the next book. I simply adored all the main characters, their friendships and loyalty and love. I wanted to join the pack and hang out with them. A rip roaring start to what we m hoping will be an amazing series. I loved it!
An interesting start to the Pack Bound series by Leisl Leighton, Pack Bound was an overall good read with engaging characters. So, while there were parts of the story I found a little slow and Skye came across as somewhat whiny, I do look forward to reading what the author has in store for the next instalment in this series.
Book one to a new shifter series. It’s thrilling and the characters were great. She is afraid to use her magic but the shifters need her. She meets the alpha and things start to blossom but the darkness isn’t far away. I recieved a free copy via Booksprout and I’m giving my review freely and honestly
This was an interesting story with shifters and witches is that was a page turner and I enjoyed reading it. It has a good storyline with interesting characters that have great chemistry. I loved Skye and Jason together they had an instant chemistry and passion. Can’t wait to read more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Yes. All that needs to be said right? If you’re looking for a new wolf romance type series than try this one. If you’re looking for a lot of smut it won’t work for you but it does have some. I love this series and am trying to pace myself on book 3 because I’m going through them too fast. Definitely give it a try
Really enjoyed Leighton's novel Pack Bound. Engaging her Jason the Werewolf and the heroine who is a witch. I love stories where the heroine isn't aware of her powers and has to learn what she can do. Great start to a series.
A promising start to the Pack Bound series. Pack Bound was an engaging read with great characters and I look forward to reading what the author has in store for me next. I would recommend this book to other readers.
I wanted to really like this series since it's an Aussie author but alas this first book is just ok for me. I think the premise is ok but a bit confusing. And there's not enough action for my taste.
3.5 Stars This was a great way to start a series. The character work and story line were well written and kept me entertained. I look forward to seeing what happens next.

Great start to a new to me author. Love the blurb, the characters, the world building and the dialogue. All great. Will definitely be reading the next book for the series.
