My feelings on The Mark of Chaos and Creation are very mixed. As much as I was excited for a sci-fi fantasy mix in YA, I found myself pushing through the book, almost like a chore, despite some of the better world building I've read in a while and an interesting story that's sometimes hard to find.

No matter what, I will say the most well thought out bits are the world building. Many aspects, like the society, government, and magic system, go beyond the surface level and I found myself drawn to each new fact, from the magical crystals and led to quite a few surprising plot twists. The alien occupied Earth has a lot of aspects that feel like they can also be explored as the series continues. The whole thing gives the futuristic Earth a dystopian vibe.

The characters were rather interesting, though I do feel there were almost too much to keep up with at points. Some did stick out, but especially with the twists, I was unsure about some of their motivations. Kara herself was an interesting character, wanting to be a part of a family, doing whatever she can to save what she loves. Though I found Kara more of the strong and stoic type, and considering what she's been through and what she goes through in the story itself, I can't blame her. Especially as her arc deals with revenge and if she should go through with it, along with controlling the special power she has and loyalty and betrayal.

The plot was super twisty, though I think at times, there wasn't enough time for the story to breathe and digest what was going on. The flashbacks were interesting as well, giving even more depth to what was going on.

Sadly, this book suffers from what I believe is a lack of polish, and it holds the book back from being great. The prose felt clunky in a lot of spots, and I was flat out confused at many points what was going on. The prose, as well as the story felt bloated, and could have used some trimming down. It takes a great story to just okay, and it's disappointing. Especially considering the mix of science fiction and fantasy, which is my jam. On the other hand, it could be mostly a matter of personal taste, as this reads much like a SJ Maas book, as I hear.

Despite its pitfalls, after that cliffhanger of an ending, I'm really interested to see where the story goes from here.

*I received an ARC from the author. All opinions are my own.*

The Mark of Chaos and Creation reminded me of the Arcane series on Netflix. At least, that's the world I imagined while reading it.

(No spoilers)

When Kara was a kid, her best friend was taken by Earth's new rulers--an alien faction known as the Arianyte (You'll have to find out why on your own...😜). Ten years later, and she's still searching for him. Fortunately, she has help. A group of people have banded together to form a resistance, hellbent on destroying the alien regime.

This was an interesting story with magical powers, a corrupt government, and alien monsters out for blood. Add some sword fighting and crazy explosions, and we have ourselves an action-packed book 1.

I don't know what the author has in store for the sequel, but I'm ready!

3.8 out of 5 stars!

"Monsters are nothing but bullies who hide in the dark. . ."

Kara's trying to get back at the people who ruined her life so many years ago. Only things may not have gone the way she wanted them to, dumping her in the middle of a real mess. Not to mention the benevolent ruler's interest in children with certain marks. . . Kara's set on revenge but what happens when the revenge she seeks merges with the need for protecting?

"A gilded cage is still that---a cage." - Kara

Kara's walking down a path full of aliens, disruptions within an estranged hierarchy, insane rules and laws, along with magic she's deemed a curse. Not being able to see a bright side to things and trying desperately to be accepted, never feeling abandoned again. But at what price will she pay to keep people in her life? Will she be able to find herself and what she's been so desperately searching for?

"Why are you afraid of your power?" - Malakyte

Kara's had to deal with some pretty heavy things growing up. She's not even eighteen yet! Kara has two goals in her head that no one can detour her from. But things go so wrong in the course of a day. Kara's about to learn what it means to be a part of a team and lowering her walls. Whether she likes it or not, she may just have to grow up a little. Secrets and lies can eat away at you until there's nothing left.

I loved watching Kara and how she grew and overcame things. I liked how she wasn't the typical FMC, she was a take charge and no prisoners type of young woman. Having tattoos and working as an apprentice! This world is set on Earth only a lot of things have changed. We are no longer the only race on the planet. . .and we don't hold all the power.

I chuckled to myself when I read how the characters within the book call Extra-Terrestrials. This may be a spoiler but it made me laugh, they call E.T.'s "Extras". And being my nerdy self all I could see was our glorious, angry-Pomeranian, Bakugo from "My Hero Academia" going around pointing and shouting Extras at everyone.

I enjoyed reading the flashbacks one of the characters had throughout the book. It made me curious as to how everything was going to merge together. I loved all of the cast! Malakyte was one of my favorites. . .I don't want to spoil anything so I will just leave it there.

Jance was another one of my favorites that I really enjoyed. Just a big softie with a heart of gold. I would gladly visit his home any day! Even if it's just to vent about life being hard and needing a shoulder to lean on. He was a great character and I loved this one scene where he sensed something was wrong and stopped things immediately. A training session with a character that brought up triggers.

One of the characters has been through a lot in their past. It never went into great detail and it certainly didn't need to! But a character suffered from SA when they were younger. Again there's no details only knowledge that something bad happened.

This book had quite the array of elements! We've got Science Fiction and Magic along with so much more! I loved the fusion of the two genres. The magic was phenomenal and I loved how the author tied so much science into her world. Describing how the magic worked and where it came from. The medical background of how it cannot be removed from an individual.

This is a YA book, there was some MF and FF action but only kissing. A scene implied that something more happened but it didn't show anything. I loved all the tension and buildup along with the enemies to lovers trope! There is language throughout the book and I chuckled when multiple characters would even get onto other's for their foul mouths. Also really loved that there was a bisexual character within the book! May or may not have squealed a little when I read about them. . .

For me, this is a personal opinion, I felt like in some areas of the book scenes were a little too long. Or there were a couple of winded paragraphs. This is just me, you may find absolutely nothing wrong. I still very much loved this book and thought the author did a fantastic job!

Sorry loves, this book does end with a cliffhanger! And oh! The last sentence of the book. . . You will be wanting to dive into the next book when it comes. This was a fun read with all the good stuff. Plot twists and elements that caused a wide array of emotions.

Enjoy the read with magic and extras! Don't forget to give the author some stars!

What a story!!! It took me a little bit to get into. A lot of world building and character introduction but I enjoyed this story. The characters are very lovable and I grew very attracted to them. Once the story formed I began to see the whole picture that arabella painted. Such an epic story between human and extraterrestrials. I cannot wait for the next one. Thankyou for the ARC read. I am so happy to have read it. So excited for others to read this !!!

“Moving my body sucks space-balls.”

DNF

I got this book during “Stuff your Kindle” day because it sounded like a really interesting sci-fi novel, and really, the premise behind it is compelling: enemies to lovers, past lives, fated mates… the execution and development of the story? Not so much.

It’s clear that the author put thought into this world and wanted a developed background. From the currency to the political system on Earth after the conquest (surrender? It’s not clear), there are a lot of new elements introduced to the reader, but the way that this was done was through exposition, SO MUCH exposition. I’m talking about laying out everything in detail both through dialogue and Kara’s inner thoughts. It was too much- it was unnatural- people simply don’t talk reciting their plans in detail or thinking carefully about the history and birth of their everyday objects. It’s something really common in indie authors, I understand the passion to create something new and exciting, but there was no effort in making the world feel real, like their characters have actually lived their whole lives there. It just felt awkward.

Secondly and perhaps my biggest issue with the story: Kara. I’m a big character reader, I need to find the characters compelling (whether loving them, hating them or simply being intrigued by them) to keep reading and Kara was not fun to read: she was frustrating.

Kara is an orphan who, at the age of twelve, had her only friend taken away from her because of the mark upon his chest (a similar mark to her own). Ever since escaping capture, she has joined the “resistance” to try and find her only friend, Gavs. The problem was that, although her mark made Kara extremely powerful and destructive, she wasn’t the smartest character (but oh she believed that she was, and everybody was surprised and impressed by her and her abilities, etc.). She was selfish, wilful and her motives were unclear, which were accompanied by an unclear plot: she gets taken captive and forced to work for the regime, but she complains when they don’t want to let her go back to work her regular hours as a tattoo artist? AND they let her?

I debated a lot whether to continue or not, because what the plot promised sounded great for me but I just… can’t stand it anymore. I really think that the story could use a lot more polishing (there were also a few spelling and grammar errors for good measure). I can’t do it anymore.

When I saw this was a mix of The Avengers and Sailor Moon [!], I flipped out! I did the audiobook, and the narrator was the perfect choice, in my opinion. While it took a little bit to get going [storywise], it was well worth it with all the action, chaos, and plot going on! Kara is a great protagonist who has had to overcome a lot to get to where she's at and the mission to rescue her best friend... *heavy sigh*. So admirable. There are a plethora of other likable characters, but I tend to hold soft spots for most MC's. A beautiful blend of magical fantasy, science fiction, and YA, I highly recommend this one.

I received a Mark of Chaos and Creation in exchange for an honest review.

I’m not sure how to begin this review. A lot of what I want to say might be slightly spoilery, but I also had these thoughts while reading the story… is that a spoiler?

Let’s start with a quick overview of the story. Kara is an orphan, apprenticed to be a tattoo artist in a future where Earth has been taken under the rule of an invading alien species. We first meet her in an orphanage where we see she has a strong sense of justice, the ruling aliens will steal children if they have powers, and when they steal her best friend and try to steal her, she unleashes an uncontrollable power within herself. Well, years later with that tattoo artist, is also the leader of a rebellion, and Kara is leading the next raid that she’s planned and hoping that by doing so she’ll get a higher place in the organization and find out where her childhood friend is.

Or course, the plan goes sideways. But instead of being imprisoned, and her mind overwritten, she’s offered a chance to prove she’s an asset since the alien wants her on his team because of her powers, and he offers to train her as long as she helps take down the person she claims was controlling her and the people working with her. From there she starts to learn more about herself, about the past of these conquerors and growing closer to her teammates, and all the betrayals and heartbreaks and dangers that come from being in that position.

A great setup and the book that does a great job in parts of playing up certain areas. She writes the laws in ways that show she thought about how the aliens took over to help the humans help control the world that they were rapidly taking to the edge of destruction through global warming and other areas. It also takes moments to try and humanize the prince, though it does this by making him a love interest, more about that in the spoiler section.

The action is also fun to read. At least I loved to read it, which is good because it’s almost always there. This book is packed with fantasy, scifi action with cool parts all adding together to very amazing scenes that I loved getting invested in! They were constant and fun and something worth keeping attention to.

That brings us the thing that brought this to a 3.5 read that rounds up to a 4-star read. And that’s the main character. She’s such a 17 teen-year-old. And I know. That’s obvious. That’s written right there. But she’s so selfish and driven by her emotions that I just had a hard time taking anything she said seriously. This is something that is hard to talk about without spoiling but let’s just say that she lacks convictions. It’s not so much that she lacks logic. It’s that she makes decisions based on what’s going to bring her the most happiness, not what’s going to be best for humanity or what’s right.

Also, if you ever wondered how an empire that no one really likes because when you reach a certain point you can have your mind wiped and spend the rest of your life as a slave on one of their ships, stays in power, they really do do it by the resistant being completely incompetent. For more information, once again, follow the link to my blog.

So, once again, there’s a lot going for this. But there was a little too much stupidity from the characters, and too many selfish choices from Kara for me to love the book. I don’t mind a protagonist I hate, but there was something particularly annoying about Kara’s mindset that irritated me while I was reading.

This book has me clamoring to read the sequel. As a man in his mid 30's, reading the story from a 17 yo teenager was incredibly infuriating. But I really think it speaks to the talent of this author to craft a story so perfectly. I spent the entire book yelling at the mc to just talk to someone outloud, while simultaneously hurting for the pain and suffering she has endured.

The story starts off a bit slow as the author slowly builds out the world and the characters, which I found incredibly helpful as there is a lot to take in. The world building itself is great and I'm truly excited to read more.

Honestly one of the best books I've read so far this year and you should definitely pick it up and give it a try.

I made a Goodreads account just so I can write a review for Arabella. I was on her ARC team for her upcoming sequel The Mark of Dreams and Darkness and I was so blown away by both books that I had to write an amazing review for it.
I really didn't know how I'd feel about this book going in, even though the blurb sounded really cool. Typically we see so much fae stuff out there, that when I heard aliens and scifi I thought it would be like gross aliens and boring old scifi, but man was I WRONG. Yes, it's scifi, but it reads like most popular fantasty/romantasy books out there. Just look at it like sexy aliens and you'll be fine, and I think she actually calls them sky fae or something so that's just how I see them. They're hot and have magic and it's just such a cool premise. I've never read anything like this book before. It's truly one of a kind and special. The characters are so relatable and deep, the worldbuilding is on another level, the way it's told, Arabella is just a storyteller. I love her, I love these books, the sequel is just as amazing, if not better, honestly.

If you think this book may be for you but are hesitant because it's not what you typically read, just read it. You won't regret it. It does take awhile to get going, but it's the first in a series and I think that foundational worldbuilding was necessary to understand the story. So just keep going, you won't regret it!

The Mark of Chaos and Creation is a debut novel by Arabella K. Federico. Earth is inhabited by the Arianyte Empire. After narrowly escaping their clutches and witnessing the abduction of her best friend, Kara wants nothing more than revenge and to find her lost friend. But Kara has a secret: she is branded with a mark of  creation. After losing control of her power and ending up in the hands of the Arianyte, Kara must keep up the lies she's told. Her life depends on it. As the lines between good and evil blur Kara wonders what she'll have to do if she hopes to make it out alive.

This book is an epic, explosive start to a new SFF series. I enjoyed both genre aspects of the novel. I think the sci-fi and fantasy elements meshed together nicely and made sense within the plot of the novel. As someone who enjoys both genres this book was a big hit for me.

Our main character, Karalevine Ruzz, is a kick-ass, takes no nonsense, headstrong type of girl and I loved that! I think Kara really grew as a character throughout this novel and I enjoyed reading about her development throughout.

This world in this novel is essentially a new world even though it takes place on Earth, so of course there's a lot of world-building to be done. That's just a growing pain of reading the first book in any science fiction and/or fantasy novel. But when that initial building was done we were left with a futuristic, real world that I felt like I could step right into.

I was very busy the week that I read this so I had to read it in spurts of free time. I would have loved to curl up and read this in one sitting though! The action-filled plot propels you from one page to the next and I hardly could find myself bored when reading this book. It was always a joy to pick up!

I'd recommend the Mark of Chaos and Creation to anyone who loves both science fiction and fantasy, kick-ass female mc's, and a fresh, futuristic world.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an early copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

I can’t even formulate a proper review. I met Arabella at Books, Gowns, & Crowns and she was so sweet. As she talked about her books all she had to say was the book gives Sailor Moon vibes and I bought all of her books right then and there. I will admit this book took me longer to finish because it made me rewatch Sailor Moon 😂
The Mark of Chaos & Creation has amazing world building! I loved the storyline. This book is definitely one that you can’t put down once you start.
Also the cliffhanger!! Good thing I have book 2 ready to read next!

I got this book during the one of the Stuff Your Kindle Days, and the cover and blurb sounded interested. It took a while to get into, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and the cliffhanger was so mean.

This book is based on seventeen-year-old Karalevine Ruzz and six years ago, she watched the aliens abduct her best friend as she narrowly escaped capture herself. Now the Arianyte Empire has conquered Earth and is searching for the most powerful weapons in the galaxy; children branded with the mark of creation. And Kara is one of them. Kara can’t let go of her rage, the memories of what the occupation took from her, a wound forever left open, even as the rest of the world submits to the powerful tyrants and accepts their new way of life. She is so determined to track down her friend that she plans to abduct Arianyte’s second in command. But when Kara loses control of her volatile magic, she risks becoming a slave and the very weapon the empire wants most. To get what she wants and keep her freedom, it comes at an extreme cost. Kara must decide if she can keep her true identity hidden within Arianyte’s walls as the line between justice and revenge begins to blur. Every day she risks her life. Every day she wonders if she can keep the lies going and if she’s good enough to play this dangerous of a game, and every day she wonders if she’ll make it out of Arianyte’s clutches alive.

I loved the character development that Kara went on. How she went from this scared and soulless soldier who was angry and wanted to revenge, to still be scared but more confident and having trust in the people around her. I liked that she wasn’t this damsel in distress type, she got herself into this situation and she is going to get herself out of it. I loved that she still had passions and a normal job whilst all of this is going, I feel like sometimes with fantasy where it’s mixed with Earth, it’s like yeah, we don’t have a paying job, and we are living comfortable like how does that work? I loved the side characters in this book from Jance to Ardelle and how they all didn’t trust her at first but then they all ended up loving her for her and wanting to protect her when everything went to shit.

It did take a while for me to get used to the extra-terrestrial side of the book, I don’t really do space or aliens so I was worried that I was going to struggle with this, once I got into it, there was no problems it was just getting there that was a bit of a struggle. The flashbacks also confused me at times, but that just my simple mind and I don’t like when books jump back and to, it confuses especially in fantasy books.

The twists and turns during this book had me shook, the cliffhanger was cruel, and I wanted more. I cannot wait to read the second book in this series which I also got on a Stuff Your Kindle Day. I have so many questions and hopefully we will get the answers soon.

I absolutely loved this book!

I wasn't sure what to expect when starting this book, but instantly was hooked in the three pages. When following the story of Karalevine, I love that name, by the way. You see a broken girl trying to find a place. She loses the only friend and family she knows in the adoption house, Gavrielle. She was in foster homes that were abusive towards her. She just wants a home and finds the resistance, and Geonni he becomes like an adoptive dad for her. But she is a rebel in the eyes of Arianyte.

The powers she contains are what make her valuable to Arianyte, and they want to use her. That's when Malakyte steps in. He has her taken, and she meets the other starseeds. She also meets Ardelle, which is a male main character and potential enemy to lover. She also starts a strange bond with Malakyte. A little enemy to lovers triangle.

Karalevine starts to have visions at random moments of someone else. This confuses Kara, and she is trying to understand if the bad guy Deimos is the enemy in these visions. She is forced to help hunt Deimos to rescue her family, Gavrielle, so she plays along for a while. She ends up building connections, and things change, so bonds are broken and relationships severed.

It causes new alliances and the exposure of certain characters that affect a lot in the story, including the main characters. News and information are exposed that have detrimental factors playing into the story.

This book makes you think so much about what will happen next and who everyone is, and the parts they played and will play. I love how the twists hit you and make you question everyone's actions and intentions. This book shows a lot of character growth and world development. The feeling of loss and betrayal at the hands of those you care for or trusted. The politics and intergalactic politics take it to a different kind of plot as well.

I really enjoyed this book and am excited to start book two!

The Mark of Chaos and Creation by Arabella K. Federico is a unique fantasy journey. Dystopian Earth is in accord with the Arianyte to help Earth and its people survive. Throughout this story, we meet some key players who take you on a journey to save Earth and uncover the truth.

Karalevine Ruzz has an unknown origin, lost the only family she knew, and doesn’t realize the magnitude of the role she will play in the future of Arianyte and Earth.

There is a lot to uncover in this story and a lot of information in this fantasy novel. I found it easier to keep up with the audiobook versus reading because of how in-depth it was. At times I felt there was so much information and world-building, along with some repetitiveness, that it slowed the first half of the book down. Once everything was established and the main plot of the story picked up, the book moved at an enjoyable and exciting pace.

I feel like diving too deep would give away so many spoilers. The star seeds and their ringers are tasked by Arianyte to stop Deimos. As each of them works together, they soon realize there is so much more going on.

Arabella captured the loss Kara felt on so many levels in a way that the reader could feel it in their bones. The sadness and lost feelings don't go away. The trust that takes so many years and consistency from another person to build This FMC grew a lot in this story as a young adult, not only in maturity but also in her ability to believe in herself.

Ardelle, Jance, Pacey, and Malakyte are secondary characters that bring out the best and worst in Kara. I loved Pacey as the girl best friend. I hope we get to see that connection grow in book two. Jance leaves me with SO MANY QUESTIONS! Ardelle and Malakyte both put Kara through the spin cycle. I kinda don’t like either one of them very much. My goal is for Kara to save herself without a man.

This story is pure fantasy with hints of attraction. I am here for all of that. I cannot wait to see what Book 2 offers. Overall, if you like dystopian fantasy, then I recommend this book. I don’t think readers will be disappointed at all. It is a cliffhanger, so if you need to wait for book 2, you can grab them both when that releases. The main plot of the story isn’t completely done. I did guess the surprise at the end, but I blame that on my mystery-loving self, and I’m sure readers will love the little nugget Arabella leaves us with.

Wow, where do I begin... This book is not only a huge page turner, but it had me doubting everybody for 90% of the story!
Spoliers from now on

The magic system is intricate enough to be interesting, but not too intricate to the level of being confusing. The character introduction and trust was another story, I wanted so badly for Kara to be able to trust the Resistance, and then the Starseeds and Ringers, but I could never fully trust either, when it turned out that neither were trustworthy, and at the same time they both were, it was a huge breather, not everything has to be black and white, I loved the character's flaws and strengths, how the Starseeds and Ringers work together, and their chosen family's strength.
The ending had me reeling, I know this book is not yet published, but I cannot wait for book 2 !

Gav and Deimos are a weird pair for Starseed and Ringer, and I cannot wait to get to know them better. Ardelle and Pacey are definitively two sides of a coin of abuse, and both so relatable on their trauma. I'm still not sure Jance is Kara's biological father, however, it doesn't really matter, because their connection is so profound and good, blood will make no difference.

Malakyte is giving me wounded psycho vibes, but I love an unpredictable yet relatable villain.

This book got me out of a HUGE book hangover and I'm both grateful for the ARC I got, and for the story being just what I needed to get me going again.

I received an ARC copy of The Mark of Chaos and Creation by Arabella K. Federico.

4/5 stars!

The Mark of Chaos and Creation follows Karalevine, a terran (human) that carries a mark on her chest and magic in her blood (well heart but you get it). At a young age her best friend is kidnapped from the orphanage they live at, her powers evolve, and soon she is working to overthrow the corrupt alien government now controlling Earth, in a bid to get her friend back. After discovering why she holds such power and what it means Kara faces a battle around her both mentally and physically. Does she try to save the one person she cared for the most, gain her freedom, find family, and/or destroy the sexy tyrant?

This book was super fun to read! I do not think I have read a book quite like this, my go to is fae/fey fantasy, or just all together high fantasy (made up worlds). But this book takes place on earth with so many different factions of aliens that even Ancient Aliens can not comprehend. I loved all the twists and turns and the BIG plot twist really had me reeling. This book is full of fight scenes, fated mates (if you will), enemies to lovers, found family, a unique magic system and more! Arabella also knows how to throw in a cliffhanger!

This book has also opened the door to wanting to read more Sci Fi!

Book: The Mark of Chaos and Creation

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Spice Level: 0/5

Genre: NA Fantasy (romance subplot)

This book was absolutely amazing. It's a mix of Sailor Moon meets Crescent City. And I seriously couldn't put this one down.

I'm. Obsessed.

I loved the imagery. The feels. And the world building. My favorite thing is that I could never guess what was going to happen next. (In a good way).

I usually don't theorize when it comes to books but for this one, with every turn of the page I had theories upon theories about who was who and what was going to happen.

When I say that I'd wake in the middle of the night and my mind would go straight to this book, thinking of what's going to happen next. I'm not lying.

This book consumed me. And that's saying a lot because I'm a homeschooling, cookie cutter, traditional mom. We're busy. We don't have time to read. But I found time for this book because it's utter perfection.

It had dark themes but the author doesn't go into detail too much with the trauma, so no need for trigger warnings.

I loved the humor along with the sass. The quote that had me cackling is this, "Deimos stands up, eyes barely open. "He was still wailing like a little bitch when they took off, if it makes you feel better.""

Definitely my favorite read of the year so far.

Finally, a dystopian book that lives up to the standards The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner set that few books have lived up to since then while adding in amazing fantasy elements!

A little hard to get into, but no more than any other fantasy or sci-fi book. It’s just getting familiar with the worldbuilding. I think Jance is one of my favorite side characters. He’s just what she needs: a supportive parent figure.

The first 70% of the book? Good. But the remaining 30%? Perfection. All the pieces falling together, the pacing increasing, betrayals and secrets revealed. Just chefs kiss! (SPOILERS AHEAD!) I knew that Malakyte was likely the true villain and that he was likely the one she was running from in her past life and stealing the children, but that completely distracted me from considering that he himself had a mark of any kind. And Deimos definitely wasn’t a hero, but he wasn’t the villain he was made out to be either. The bombshell about who he was to Zariya surprised me. I wish I could’ve seen his face when she revealed Gav was his ringer though. The biggest puzzle piece for me is figuring out where Gav fits into it all. I can’t wait for book two!

The Mark of Chaos and Creation by Arabella Federico is Book one in the The Mark of Creation Chronicles. This is also the very first book I’ve read by the author, but holy smokes it will not to the last! The book is literally described as “The Avengers meets Sailor Moon meets Arcane League of Legends” and was this statement on point!!! It’s a fantasy book that meets sci-fi to form this delicious cookie that you don’t want to stop devouring. I could not stop reading this book, cover to cover in one sitting. Arabella if you happen to read this review, I NEED more!!! This book was freaking amazing and so masterfully written… all the twists and turns the main character goes through on her hunt of vengeance. I was down for the ride, the whole time!!!

This book from the very beginning had me immersed in a world filled with rebels and aliens, fighting for good while also revenge. I loved the main character Kara… I loved how I could feel what she was feeling, how my fingers tightened on my kindle when things got intense. Reading how there could be a triangle between her former bully and the alien prince… I was rooting for these characters. I absolutely 100% need the next book before I go bonkers!!! I highly recommend this book it you live fantasy and sci-fi…also have you seen the cover!?! Amazing!!!

Summary: We follow the main character, Kara Ruzz in this fantastical story of aliens, abductions, and most importantly war. Six years previously Kara's best friend was abducted by aliens and heroically escaped their capture. Children were then branded with the mark, Kara happens to be one of them. With this Kara risks becoming a slave to an empire which has taken over Earth in it's entirety and a weapon for the very beings she despises.

Review: The Mark of Chaos and Creation by Arabella Federico kept every promise this book made to me. It promised aliens, spirituality, feminine rage, and a strong female hero. I adored the main character mainly for her feminine rage and the way she drives the story along makes you not want to put it down. The world building is other worldly and like nothing I have read before. I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to read this. My overall rating for this book is 4.75/5.
