Exceptional fact based book bursting the myth of 1000 year Islamic rule of India. While it does glorify the Rajputs the book also explains why these battles are relevant today to try and save the indic civilization and why when wars are won by deception or foul means one should not necessarily glorify them. The use of a fifth column to win battles via deception; use of plunder to motivate troops versus merely religious zeal, and using the latest technology are key lessons here

I had a friend who used to go to Saraswati shishu mandir. I would borrow his history books, which were in Hindi, for the amazing feel good stories of India. That was the first time when I read about Bappa Rawal, Rana Hamir and Rana Sanga. I finished my education and as a history aficionado there was this lingering feeling of missing out on something. We were taught a very skewed version of history to say the least. This book is that major missing piece of the puzzle that would help you understand your nation better.
Author has done justice with his meticulous research. Cites his sources and has done all the homework possible to write an interesting and credible history book.
There are Only two things that I would consider drawbacks of this book. One, it tends to be repetitive. But that is a given and shows the author’s passion about the subject. Not a big deal at all. Two, bear with me for this one, when writing history and when your objective is to counter the left dominance on narrative, you need to be subtle. The author tends to unabashedly glorify Hindu forces without going more in detail about current political climate, Islamic thought process and other factors. He is not politically correct. While I love it, it will be shot down by the mainstream unless we popularise it more. I hope I was able to make you understand my point without droning too much.

७५ वर्षों के स्वतंत्र भारत की शिक्षा नीति किस सीमा तक परतंत्र रही है, इसका ज्वलंत प्रमाण है डॉ ओमेंद्र रत्नू की पुस्तक "महाराणा" से उजागर होने वाले सत्य। इस पाठक एवं समीक्षक की दृष्टि में पुस्तक का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण पृष्ठ है: पृष्ठ संख्या ३३५, जहाँ डॉ रत्नू केवल काल खंड के पैमाने से, जो समझने में अत्यंत सरल है, इस मिथ्या विमर्श का प्रमाणबद्ध तथा तर्कसंगत खंडन करते हैं कि भारत १००० वर्षो तक (या ८०० वर्षों तक) इस्लामी आक्रमणकारियों के आधीन रहा।
ये अंकगणित इतनी सरल है कि पुस्तकें देखकर जम्हाई लेने वाले पाठक भी इस पृष्ठ को पढ़कर समझ सकते हैं कि "इस्लामी शासन की एक सहस्त्राब्दी " कितना सोचा-समझा तथा पूर्वनियोजित षडयंत्र है।
यदि पुस्तक के गठन एवं संघटन में जाँय, तो वीर रस से ओत-प्रोत यह गद्य पृष्ठ-प्रति-पृष्ठ यह अनवरत अनुभूति कराता है कि यदि इतिहास के कुछ समरों में हिन्दू समाज ने पराजय से संतोष किया, तो कई संघर्षों में अद्वित्तीय विजयरस का सुरापान भी किया है। दिवेर का युद्ध, जो लेखक के अनुसार उनके लिए इस पुस्तक को लिखने की प्रेरणा बना, इस निष्कर्ष का प्रासंगिक उदाहरण है। सन ७१२ CE से १७०७ (औरंगज़ेब की मृत्यु) तक के काल में मेवाड़ के योद्धाओं ने (मुख्यतः) और शेष भारत के भी कई सेनापतियों ने (गौणतः, क्योंकि इस पुस्तक की विषयवस्तु मेवाड़ है) विभिन्न अवसरों पर आक्रमणकारियों को धूल चटाई। वस्तुतः यही इस पुस्तक का उद्देश्य प्रतीत होता है। विदित रहे कि "महाराणा" इतिहास की पुस्तक नहीं है (हम भाग्यशाली हैं कि ये इतिहास की पुस्तक नहीं है, क्योंकि "एमिनेंट हिस्टोरियन्स" के छल के बाद इतिहास से विश्वास उठना एक तार्किक परिणति है।)
"महाराणा" को "इतिहास पर आधारित वीरगाथाएं" कहना श्रेयस्कर होगा। बप्पा रावल से लेकर राजा खुमान प्र.; तुग़लक़ को बंदी बनाने वाले हम्मीर से लेकर महाराणाओं (सर्वश्री कुम्भा, सांगा, प्रताप, अमर, करण, जगत तथा राज सिंह) की वीरता के कल्पनातीत, चकित कर देने वाले, बरबस ही पाठक को नतमस्तक करा देने वाले प्रकरण पुस्तक का मुख्य आकर्षण हैं। रानी पद्मिनी के जौहर तथा चित्तौड़ के जौहर का भी सजीव, लोमहर्षक चित्रण किया गया है। हालांकि लेखक की "एमिनेंट हिस्टोरियन्स" द्वारा गढ़े गए प्रचंड असत्य को तार-तार करने की प्रतिबद्धता इतनी सत्यनिष्ठ है कि कुछ स्थानों पर वह अलिखित श्रुतियों अथवा शासकों के सम्मान में लिखी गयी काव्य रचनाओं को उसी तुला से तौलते हैं जिससे कि पूर्ण-प्रामाणिक, लिखित, तर्क की कसौटी पर अकाट्य इतिहास प्रमाणों को। इससे उनके विमर्श का पैनापन तो लेशमात्र भी कम नहीं होता, किन्तु "महाराणा" को इतिहास कहने के स्थान पर "इतिहास-आधारित वीरगाथाएं" कहने का निर्णय सही अवश्य पतीत होता है। उस दृष्टि से देखा जाय, तो डॉ रत्नू अपने पाठकों की धमनियों में वीर रस का संचार करने में सफल रहे हैं।
* उदासीनता में लिपटा हुआ मस्तिष्क भी साका-जौहर की दारुण कथाओं पर चक्षु अश्रुपूरित करने को बाध्य होगा;
* आलस्य के सागर में गोते लगाती चेतना भी प्रताप के विचारपूर्ण उद्यमों (दिवेर के युद्ध का अम्बुश फार्मेशन) से प्रेरित होगी;
* भीरुता के भंवर में डूबता हतोत्साही भी महाराणा अमर सिंह के भाले (जिसने सेरिमा खान को उसकी सवारी सहित शिला से ठोक मारा था) के तेज से एक पल को वीर शिरोमणि होने का आभास पा उठेगा;
* लोभ के अंतहीन आकाश में विचरता मोहपाशबंदी भी रावत चूँडा के त्याग पर, क्षण भर के लिए ही सही, अपनी तृष्णा पर खिन्न होने से बच न सकेगा। (लेखक का इन्हें "मेवाड़ का भीष्म" कहना एक सार्थक संज्ञा है। और ये तार्किक है कि संभावतः चूँडा का निर्णय, देवव्रत "भीष्म" की महाभारत कथा से प्रेरित हो)
मेवाड़ के प्रति अपने मातृ-तुल्य वात्सल्य (या पुत्र-तुल्य कर्त्तव्य, आपके दृष्टिकोण के अनुसार) के पश्चात भी, डॉ रत्नू यथा-आवश्यक मेवाड़ की रणनीतिक समालोचना भी करते हैं, जैसे बहुविवाह का गृहयुद्ध और राजपूतों में आतंरिक कलह में योगदान। अतः इस मापदण्ड पर, उनकी लेखनी बहुत सीमा तक वस्तुनिष्ठता केंद्रित है। किंचित स्थानों पर पुस्तक का संपादन कुछ और सुगढ़ होता, तो संभवतः इसका प्रवाह और सरस होकर उभरता। कालचक्र से भटक कर आगे-पीछे की घटनाओं को एक साथ संकलित करना और फिर बीते हुए कालखंड पर वापस आना, संपादन के क्षेत्र में आंशिक दुर्बलता का एक और परिचायक है। हालांकि इन बिंदुओं से पुस्तक के व्यापक आकर्षण पर अधिक प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता।
हिंदी अनुवादक श्री दिवाकर आचार्य (जिनका उल्लेख पृष्ठ २५ की एक पंक्ति में ओझल सा है, मुख पृष्ठ पर या प्रथम पर भी नहीं) डॉ रत्नू से कम प्रशंसा के पात्र नहीं हैं। इस समीक्षक ने अंग्रेज़ी की मूल प्रति के भी अंश पढ़े हैं (और हिंदी की तो पूरी पुस्तक ही पढ़ी है), और इसमें बाल बराबर भी संदेह नहीं है कि श्री आचार्य का अनुवाद मूल से बीस ही है, उन्नीस नहीं। भिन्न-भिन्न स्थानों पर पाठकों को ये अनुभव होगा कि मानो हिंदी संस्करण ही मूल हो।
डॉ रत्नू से निवेदन है कि अनुवादक के इस अर्द्ध-भगीरथ प्रयास को न्यायोचित सम्मान देते हुए अगले संस्करण में श्री दिवाकर आचार्य का नाम मुख पृष्ठ पर मुद्रित करवाकर हिंदी पाठकों का भी सम्म्मान बढ़ावें (यही मानक प्रचलन भी है, अर्थात अनुवादक का नाम रेखांकित करना)।
जो भी पाठक, मेवाड़ के (और भारत के) गौरवशाली, वंदनीय तथा प्रेरणादायक अतीत के प्रांगण में बैठकर इस वीरगाथा का रसपान करना चाहें, वो अवश्य इस पुस्तक को पढ़ें एवं पढ़ावें; तथा "एमिनेंट हिस्टोरियन्स" के अब तक असाध्य, असत्य-रूपी गढ़ को ढहाने में और सत्य से साक्षात्कार कराने के यज्ञ में अपना हव्य चढ़ावें।

"महाराणा" को "इतिहास पर आधारित वीरगाथाएं" कहना श्रेयस्कर होगा। बप्पा रावल से लेकर राजा खुमान प्र.; तुग़लक़ को बंदी बनाने वाले हम्मीर से लेकर महाराणाओं (सर्वश्री कुम्भा, सांगा, प्रताप, अमर, करण, जगत तथा राज सिंह) की वीरता के कल्पनातीत, चकित कर देने वाले, बरबस ही पाठक को नतमस्तक करा देने वाले प्रकरण पुस्तक का मुख्य आकर्षण हैं। रानी पद्मिनी के जौहर तथा चित्तौड़ के जौहर का भी सजीव, लोमहर्षक चित्रण किया गया है। हालांकि लेखक की "एमिनेंट हिस्टोरियन्स" द्वारा गढ़े गए प्रचंड असत्य को तार-तार करने की प्रतिबद्धता इतनी सत्यनिष्ठ है कि कुछ स्थानों पर वह अलिखित श्रुतियों अथवा शासकों के सम्मान में लिखी गयी काव्य रचनाओं को उसी तुला से तौलते हैं जिससे कि पूर्ण-प्रामाणिक, लिखित, तर्क की कसौटी पर अकाट्य इतिहास प्रमाणों को। इससे उनके विमर्श का पैनापन तो लेशमात्र भी कम नहीं होता, किन्तु "महाराणा" को इतिहास कहने के स्थान पर "इतिहास-आधारित वीरगाथाएं" कहने का निर्णय सही अवश्य पतीत होता है। उस दृष्टि से देखा जाय, तो डॉ रत्नू अपने पाठकों की धमनियों में वीर रस का संचार करने में सफल रहे हैं।
* उदासीनता में लिपटा हुआ मस्तिष्क भी साका-जौहर की दारुण कथाओं पर चक्षु अश्रुपूरित करने को बाध्य होगा;
* आलस्य के सागर में गोते लगाती चेतना भी प्रताप के विचारपूर्ण उद्यमों (दिवेर के युद्ध का अम्बुश फार्मेशन) से प्रेरित होगी;
* भीरुता के भंवर में डूबता हतोत्साही भी महाराणा अमर सिंह के भाले (जिसने सेरिमा खान को उसकी सवारी सहित शिला से ठोक मारा था) के तेज से एक पल को वीर शिरोमणि होने का आभास पा उठेगा;
* लोभ के अंतहीन आकाश में विचरता मोहपाशबंदी भी रावत चूँडा के त्याग पर, क्षण भर के लिए ही सही, अपनी तृष्णा पर खिन्न होने से बच न सकेगा। (लेखक का इन्हें "मेवाड़ का भीष्म" कहना एक सार्थक संज्ञा है। और ये तार्किक है कि संभावतः चूँडा का निर्णय, देवव्रत "भीष्म" की महाभारत कथा से प्रेरित हो)
मेवाड़ के प्रति अपने मातृ-तुल्य वात्सल्य (या पुत्र-तुल्य कर्त्तव्य, आपके दृष्टिकोण के अनुसार) के पश्चात भी, डॉ रत्नू यथा-आवश्यक मेवाड़ की रणनीतिक समालोचना भी करते हैं, जैसे बहुविवाह का गृहयुद्ध और राजपूतों में आतंरिक कलह में योगदान। अतः इस मापदण्ड पर, उनकी लेखनी बहुत सीमा तक वस्तुनिष्ठता केंद्रित है। किंचित स्थानों पर पुस्तक का संपादन कुछ और सुगढ़ होता, तो संभवतः इसका प्रवाह और सरस होकर उभरता। कालचक्र से भटक कर आगे-पीछे की घटनाओं को एक साथ संकलित करना और फिर बीते हुए कालखंड पर वापस आना, संपादन के क्षेत्र में आंशिक दुर्बलता का एक और परिचायक है। हालांकि इन बिंदुओं से पुस्तक के व्यापक आकर्षण पर अधिक प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता।
हिंदी अनुवादक श्री दिवाकर आचार्य (जिनका उल्लेख पृष्ठ २५ की एक पंक्ति में ओझल सा है, मुख पृष्ठ पर या प्रथम पर भी नहीं) डॉ रत्नू से कम प्रशंसा के पात्र नहीं हैं। इस समीक्षक ने अंग्रेज़ी की मूल प्रति के भी अंश पढ़े हैं (और हिंदी की तो पूरी पुस्तक ही पढ़ी है), और इसमें बाल बराबर भी संदेह नहीं है कि श्री आचार्य का अनुवाद मूल से बीस ही है, उन्नीस नहीं। भिन्न-भिन्न स्थानों पर पाठकों को ये अनुभव होगा कि मानो हिंदी संस्करण ही मूल हो।
डॉ रत्नू से निवेदन है कि अनुवादक के इस अर्द्ध-भगीरथ प्रयास को न्यायोचित सम्मान देते हुए अगले संस्करण में श्री दिवाकर आचार्य का नाम मुख पृष्ठ पर मुद्रित करवाकर हिंदी पाठकों का भी सम्म्मान बढ़ावें (यही मानक प्रचलन भी है, अर्थात अनुवादक का नाम रेखांकित करना)।
जो भी पाठक, मेवाड़ के (और भारत के) गौरवशाली, वंदनीय तथा प्रेरणादायक अतीत के प्रांगण में बैठकर इस वीरगाथा का रसपान करना चाहें, वो अवश्य इस पुस्तक को पढ़ें एवं पढ़ावें; तथा "एमिनेंट हिस्टोरियन्स" के अब तक असाध्य, असत्य-रूपी गढ़ को ढहाने में और सत्य से साक्षात्कार कराने के यज्ञ में अपना हव्य चढ़ावें।
७५ वर्षों के स्वतंत्र भारत की शिक्षा नीति किस सीमा तक परतंत्र रही ह��, इसका ज्वलंत प्रमाण है डॉ ओमेंद्र रत्नू की पुस्तक "महाराणा" से उजागर होने वाले सत्य। इस पाठक एवं समीक्षक की दृष्टि में पुस्तक का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण पृष्ठ है: पृष्ठ संख्या ३३५, जहाँ डॉ रत्नू केवल काल खंड के पैमाने से, जो समझने में अत्यंत सरल है, इस मिथ्या विमर्श का प्रमाणबद्ध तथा तर्कसंगत खंडन करते हैं कि भारत १००० वर्षो तक (या ८०० वर्षों तक) इस्लामी आक्रमणकारियों के आधीन रहा।
ये अंकगणित इतनी सरल है कि पुस्तकें देखकर जम्हाई लेने वाले पाठक भी इस पृष्ठ को पढ़कर समझ सकते हैं कि "इस्लामी शासन की एक सहस्त्राब्दी " कितना सोचा-समझा तथा पूर्वनियोजित षडयंत्र है।
यदि पुस्तक के गठन एवं संघटन में जाँय, तो वीर रस से ओत-प्रोत यह गद्य पृष्ठ-प्रति-पृष्ठ यह अनवरत अनुभूति कराता है कि यदि इतिहास के कुछ समरों में हिन्दू समाज ने पराजय से संतोष किया, तो कई संघर्षों में अद्वित्तीय विजयरस का सुरापान भी किया है। दिवेर का युद्ध, जो लेखक के अनुसार उनके लिए इस पुस्तक को लिखने की प्रेरणा बना, इस निष्कर्ष का प्रासंगिक उदाहरण है। सन ७१२ CE से १७०७ (औरंगज़ेब की मृत्यु) तक के काल में मेवाड़ के योद्धाओं ने (मुख्यतः) और शेष भारत के भी कई सेनापतियों ने (गौणतः, क्योंकि इस पुस्तक की विषयवस्तु मेवाड़ है) विभिन्न अवसरों पर आक्रमणकारियों को धूल चटाई। वस्तुतः यही इस पुस्तक का उद्देश्य प्रतीत होता है। विदित रहे कि "महाराणा" इतिहास की पुस्तक नहीं है (हम भाग्यशाली हैं कि ये इतिहास की पुस्तक नहीं है, क्योंकि "एमिनेंट हिस्टोरियन्स" के छल के बाद इतिहास से विश्वास उठना एक तार्किक परिणति है।)

The Maharanas of Mewar and their glorious contribution to Sanatana Dharma which has been systematically erased from the Indian consciousness finds a fitting tribute in the form of “Maharanas: A Thousand Year War for Dharma” by Dr.Omendra Ratnu ji.
I would like to personally laud the author’s writing style, as it feels like someone’s actually reading the book aloud and thereby creating impact.Also, the tone of writing feels like it has been put out after years of urge.
Ratnuji has managed to curb the white lies being spread today viz-a-viz the medieval 'Hindu slavery'.And to put the mighty Maharanas’ actual history of nearly a thousand years, in an engaging manner, is indeed commendable.
The entire book is a reader's delight, I personally found the chapters dealing with Maharana Pratap and Maharana Raj Singh to be extraordinary.
The resolve of these kings of Bharatvarsh is unfathomable.It forces us to ponder on the contribution of present-day citizens towards our motherland.The biggest take-away for me would be to have a 'steely resolve' regardless the situation.
Another fact that made me love this work, is how the author quotes from contemporary Islamic annals to provide us with a pragmatic view of the conflict.
I recommend this book to every Bharatiya.I view the Maharanas as Mahapurusha, and without them the very Dharmic roots of our great civilization would have been in ruins today.
A sincere thanks to the modern-day “Yakka” Ratnuji for killing all falsehoods surrounding the Maharanas.Awaiting more such amazing work from you sir.

What an incredible book written by Mr. Omendra Ratnu. I quote the book, ‘this book will truly become as sacred as scriptures in each Hindu home’. The writer has thoroughly researched before writing this book.
It begins with a story of Bappa Rawal, a descendent of the Guhilote dynasty, a dynasty that traces its roots to Lord Ram’s son Luv. Bappa Rawal was a fierce warrior and was one of the first kings to defeat the Mughals for the first time in History. He is described as the ‘Conqueror of Arabia’.
It later talks about Rawal Khuman, Rawal Jaitra Singh, Rawal Ratan Singh, Maharana Hammir Singh, Maharana Pratap, and their valor and the kind of fight they have given. As you read further, you’ll be amazed and stunned to learn the reality. At the same time, you will be ashamed of why we never tried to find the same. These great heroes, were neither mentioned in our textbooks nor spoken about.
I remember during my school days when we were taught about the history, the battles, the winnings, the greatness of the Mughals “Akbar the Great”, their architectures, etc. Questions would constantly pop up into my mind like, ‘humare rulers ne koi battle ny jeeta hai kya’ and ‘hmare rulers ne kuch ny bnaya kya’. These questions would arise then and it stayed with me for a very long time. But its my bad that I’ve been so ignorant all these whiles. As Sai Deepak said in one of his videos ‘unhone kisi ko ny baksha wo apko kyun chorenge, we are here because we fought back’. And it is so true. It is very important to read the correct history as what we are taught constantly depicts us as a defeated society.
I urge everyone to read this book.

I finished the Hindi version of this book.
This book busts the lie told to us till now that Hindus were slaves of islamic rulers for over 1000 years - with proof. This highlights the greatness of Sanatana - Hindu civilization. All Civilizations of the world - Egypt, Roman, Mesopotamia, etc - perished under Abrahmic Religious conquests. The exploitation that happened on Hindu Mahadweep was a lot more than whatever occurred on these civilizations. And yet, the only one to survive to date is Hindu culture.
This book speaks about the greatness of not just the Hindu warriors, but also
-- speaks about how great their Women were,
-- speaks about how bravely those ladies embraced johar to die with honor,
-- speaks about how principled Indian rulers were - even during the wars,
-- speaks about immoral steps the invaders took during the wars (attacking the Hindu kings by letting the Cows go first - knowing fully well that they will not harm them),
-- speaks about how the mercy shown by our rulers on the invaders always acted against us,
and
-- speaks about the dire need to awaken our dormant Kshathriya Dharma in the interest of Bharath.
By the time the book was complete, I was feeling a lot more prouder, of belonging to this great Civilization, than I felt before starting it.

It's a brilliant book based on facts and busting fake narratives of Islamic rule with numerous facts at each stage. One drawback i found is at places kings have been shown as superhuman though i believe the author has done it deliberately to mainstream Hindu Kings

एक बार ऑफिस में दोपहर के खाने के समय एक सहकर्मी कहने लगे कि पिछले शनिवार को पार्टी के दौरान उनका मित्र (जो दो पेग लगा चूका था) कहने लगा कि पहले वो सोचता था कि राजपूतों ने हमारी रक्षा की लेकिन अब पता लगा कि उन लोगों ने ही बाहरी लुटेरों को बुलाया और उनका साथ दिया जैसे जयचंद, राणा सांगा, इत्यादि.
उसकी बातों सुनकर मैं बहुत व्यथित हुआ एवं मुझे रोष भी आया. मैंने उसे तथ्यों के साथ उत्तर देने का प्रयास किया. क्योंकि मैंने वीरेंद्र सिंह राठौर द्वारा पृथ्वीराज चौहान के ऊपर लिखित पुस्तक को पढ़ा था जिसमे उन्होंने तथ्यों के साथ इस बात का खंडन किया है कि जयचंद ने गोरी को बुलाया था. दूसरा झूठ कि राणा सांगा ने बाबर को बुलाया था, इसका तो लेखक ने भी इस पुस्तक में खंडन किया है और मैंने भी कहीं पढ़ा है कि बाबरनामा मूलतः चागताई तुर्की भाषा में लिखी गयी थी जिसका ज्ञान आज के समय में बहुत काम लोगों को है. जिसका लाभ पुस्तक के अनुवादक ने उठाया और अनुवाद के दौरान इसको अपनी ओर से घुसेड़ दिया कि राणा सांगा ने बाबर को बुलाया था.
उपरोक्त बातें इसलिए लिखनी पडी क्योंकि ये दर्शाता है कि हिन्दू समाज अपने इतिहास को लेकर कितना अनभिज्ञ है और वामपंथी, इस्लामी इतिहासकारों ने ऐसा प्रभाव डाला है कि लोग विदेशी आक्रांताओं के बजाय अपने लोगों के ऊपर ही दोषारोपण करने लग जाते हैं. वामपंथी, इस्लामी इतिहासकारों ने हमारे इतिहास से हर वो चीज निकाल दिया है जिस पर हम गौरव कर सकें. हमें एक हारी हुई कौम के रूप में दर्शाया है जो हर लड़ाईयां हारता है इसका प्रभाव यह पड़ा है कि हिन्दुओं में एक बड़ा वर्ग ऐसा है जिसमें आत्मसम्मान जैसी कोई चीज नहीं बची है.
जो इस्लाम फिलिस्तीन, सीरिया, ईराक़, ईरान, खोरासान, मंगोलिया, बुखारा, ताशकंद, समरकंद, मिश्र, उत्तरी अफ्रीका होते हुए 709 ई. तक स्पेन तक पहुँच गया उसे अपने पहले आक्रमण से लेकर यहाँ साम्राज्य स्थापित करने में 570 साल लग गए. इसका कारण है कि अरब के विपरीत यहाँ पर उनको हमेशा सशक्त प्रतिरोध का सामना करना पड़ा. इसके पीछे अनेकानेक शूरवीरों को योगदान रहा है जिनको वामपंथी और इस्लामिक इतिहासकारों ने जानबूझकर गायब कर दिया ताकि 'इस्लाम एक सर्वोपरि शक्ति है' इस प्रपंच को सत्य के स्थान पर स्थापित किया जा सके. तो प्रश्न खड़ा होता है कि आखिर उनसे लड़ कौन रहा था. ऐसे ही अनेकानेक शूरवीरों में उदाहरण एक ऐसे परिवार का है जो सहस्त्र वर्षों तक बाप्पा रावल से महाराणा राज सिंह तक अकेले ही इस्लामिक आक्रांताओं से लड़ता रहा. वीरता का ऐसा उदहारण शायद ही कहीं और देखने को मिले. जिनके लिए मातृभूमि से बढ़कर कुछ और नहीं था.
अब आते हैं पुस्तक के ऊपर. जहाँ वामपंथी और इस्लामिक इतिहासकारों ने हमारे इतिहास को अन्धकारमय कर दिया है और कहीं से प्रकाश की कोई किरण नहीं दिखाई दे रही थी तब लेखक ने स्वयं दीपक जलाने का प्रयास किया है. हालांकि लेखक पेशे से चिकित्सक हैं लेकिन पुस्तक के शोध में उन्होंने कोई कमी नहीं की है. जिसका परिणाम है यह बेहतरीन पुस्तक. पुस्तक के कंटेंट के अलावा हम पाते हैं कि लेखक की भाषा पर पकड़ बहुत अच्छी है. आज के समय में एक अच्छी पुस्तक जो हिंदी में हो, मुश्किल से मिलती है. लेखक ने इस कमी को दूर किया है.
जौहर और साका के बारे में पढ़ते हुए एक असहनीय वेदना का अनुभव कर रहा था. ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे रोम - रोम जल रहा हो. कैसे हृदय की स्त्रियां होंगी वो जिन्होंने शील की रक्षा के लिए अपनी छोटी - छोटी बेटियों, बेटों, वृद्ध माताओं के साथ अपनी आप को अग्नि में समर्पित कर दिया. वो पुरुष किस हृदय के होंगे जो अपनी आँखों के सामने ऐसा होते देखते थे. स्त्रियों और बच्चों की चीख उनके हृदय पर कैसा प्रभाव डालते होंगे? लेकिन उनके जल जाने पर उस राख को अपनी शरीर पर मल कर मृत्यु का वरण करने के लिए युद्ध में निकल पड़ते थे. जौहर की अग्नि मीलों दूर से दिखाई देती थी. मातृभूमि एवं धर्म की रक्षा के लिए हमारे पूर्वजों ने अकल्पनीय कष्ट उढ़ाये और वर्त्तमान पीढ़ी के लोग ऐसे हो गए हैं जो उन्ही को कटघरे में खड़ा कर दे रहे हैं.
पन्ना धाय, हाडा रानी के असाधारण बलिदान की कहानियां हमें अपनी बच्चों को अवश्य पढ़ानी चाहिए
लेखक ने पुस्तक में सीता राम गोयल जी के विचारों का उल्लेख किया है. सीता राम गोयल जी को पढ़ने का फायदा यह है कि उनको पढ़ने के बाद विचारों में स्पस्टता आ जाती है, संसय नष्ट हो जाता है. लेखक ने ऐसी बेहतरीन पुस्तक प्रस्तुत की है कि मैं उसके बारे में कुछ भी कहने को अपने आप को अक्षम पाता हूँ.

Maharanas: A Sincere Tribute to Rajput Valor, But Lacking in Rigor
Omendra Ratnu’s Maharanas is an earnest attempt to bring attention to the valiant and often overlooked history of the great Rajput lineage. The book explores one of the most underrated aspects of Indian history, shedding light on the bravery, resilience, and strategic brilliance of the Maharanas of Mewar. For this effort alone, the book deserves recognition. However, while the subject matter is significant, the execution leaves much to be desired.
One of the main drawbacks of Maharanas is the author’s tendency to intersperse facts with his own opinions throughout the chapters. Instead of maintaining a focus on historical evidence and primary sources, Ratnu frequently presents his personal views, which at times detract from the scholarly merit of the work. A more objective and structured approach would have significantly strengthened the book’s impact. Additionally, the organization of the content feels disjointed in places, making it difficult to follow the author’s thought process. A clearer narrative flow and better coherence in argumentation would have enhanced the reader’s experience.
If the Indian non-left or right-wing intellectuals aim to effectively counter the dominant academic discourse shaped by leftist historians, the quality of writing must improve. Scholars like Vikram Sampath and Sanjeev Sanyal have demonstrated how a fact-based, rigorously researched approach can be far more persuasive than one that relies heavily on personal opinions. The power of historical counter-narratives lies in presenting irrefutable evidence, not just passionate rhetoric.
That being said, Maharanas is still an important book for those interested in learning about the valiant Rajput history. Despite its shortcomings, it is a commendable effort that brings to light stories that deserve greater recognition. For this reason, I would recommend it to readers who wish to explore this subject, while also hoping that future works on this topic adopt a more structured and fact-driven approach. This book will shake any bhartiya that how Mewadi kings who later adopted the title as Maharanas to serve the citizens of their states and gave up the title of kings, saved us from incessant attacks from Islamic invasions from Afghans and later Turkish (Mughals).
This will question our Sanatani identity as to why we embraced themughal culture for the babaric attacks our ancestors faced.
Because of these attacks our womenfolks, the queens, princesses, women folks from states, including children embraced Jauhar, to avoid any cruelty from these invaders.
Aterr reading this how can we justify the acceptance of the mughal culture as ours, be a Hindu, muslim, Sikh, or any religion.
They were as outsiderto us as were British.
These Sisodiyas fighters not only saved the bhumi (land) of Rajasthan but also the bharatwarsh starting the 8th century.
The baton was passsed on to the Marathas, thankfully, Marathas are still remembered.
We need to give full due respect to these Mewadi protectors of Bharatwarsh for the sacrifices they did to save Hindu future.

There are writers that will pull through with shit content just coz they have a brilliant style of writing. And then there is content that pulls through even with a crass style of writing. This book is obviously the latter.
While the style of writing is nothing to write home about (no pun intended), some of the chapters literally gave me goose bumps (Jauhar Saka, some of the sacrifices made during battles, etc).
So while I had to plough through a lot of repetitions and some emotional outbursts by the writer, in the end I still applaud Mr. Ratnu for bringing all these amazing facts to the fore and sharing them with us.
Fun fact: A friend recommended this book because I said I am going on holiday to Udaipur. I don’t regret reading this book at all and I suggest with all my heart that one must read up this book before they visit Rajasthan. It will give a while you perspective to some of the places you visit.
