A playful and vibrant ode to the arrival of spring in all its glory Here comes Spring! March along with Mama and Baby Bunny as they welcome a festive parade of budding flowers and blossoming trees, new birds, butterflies and bees, and all of their beloved friends, emerging from the winter season.
Absolutely gorgeous illustrations- I want a copy of each page as a print to hang in my home! The story is simple but effective. My one issue- and it's kind of a weird one- is that the neon pink text was really hard for me to read. The illustrations make up for it, but it was so bright, depending on the background cover, that I had to angle it around and squint to read it.
I am a Spring person and I love the arrival of the season although where I come from it is one of those times when you have to watch for it. Camelia Kay slowly captures that same spirit by starting the reader off in a snowy woods where two bunnies are seen to be lurking about - never in my reading did I ever get to think these two bunnies were ever related as mother and child.
Anyway the reader is taken slowly into a spring world where Nature transform by the turning of the page and as it does so it brings out the main players. Each of these announced newcomers is a sure harbinger that Spring is really here whether it is the bright green grass, the mama bears with their cubs, the butterflies, the fawns in the spotted frocks of even the confetti of falling flower petals.
The writing is very simple and will most definitely help younger readers who are just learning to read but where this book excels or lingers at is the illustrations. Brightly colorful, detailed and either hit or miss on the realism these pictures will lasso the minds of kids itching to get outside and skip around like all these happy animals.
If you don't mind overlooking the infactual parts, this book will be a fun book of celebration for young readers who just cannot sit still when good weather beckons them out the door again.
I loved all the colors that were used in this book to welcome spring as well as how it looks to be painted. I like how it also takes you on the journey of the different things that happen during spring such as bears waking up from hibernation, baby birds, butterflies, bees, green grass ad buttercups. I love how on each page there are things going on in the background such as on the bear page on the tree you can see a chrysalis. Or how on the page with the field of buttercups we can see lambs and bears frolicking in the background as well as a little worm having fun on the left side of the picture. The only bad thing I have to say about this book is that on the last few pages, there is a lot going on visual wise and it can be difficult to dissect what's going on. But regardless it is a beautiful book with soft yet vibrant colors!
This book totally delighted me and really appealed to my inner child (I would have loooved this as a girl). That said, I don't think the illustrations will appeal to everyone. There's a lot of pink -- A LOT -- really bright pink... and the illustrations get quite busy as you move through the book and more and more animals, birds, insects, and flowers appear in the spring-time scene. I happen to love this aesthetic (it reminds me of some of the vintage greeting cards from the '70s that I used to collect) and the book is so cheerful I smiled the whole way through. It's not a factual story about springtime, but a simple storybook for young readers that conveys the joy and vitality of this time of year.
A baby bunny observes the arrival of spring through plants, animals, and natural phenomena.
This is a very gentle exploration of the natural world in the season of spring.
Things featured: [crocus], bears [awakening from hibernation], birds, butterflies, honeybees, green grass, buttercups, beetles, bugs, deer fawns, ducklings, and clouds.

the illustrations in this book are yummy. I love all the pink! I would totally get something like that tattooed. As for the text, this concept has been done quite a bit. It's not a book that stands out to me, but it certainly isn't bad.
This book is adorable. Due to the colors and sweet depictions of animals it is a feast for the eyes! I checked it out from the library for color analysis and it does not disappoint. Short but sweet story for very young children. Illustrations can be enjoyed by all ages!
WOW that is some day-glo pink! The palette is a vibrant nod to the season being celebrated, with lively moment in the accompanying illustrations. Very sweet for very young readers.
The book is pretty, but the text can be hard to read on the page. I think for a one on one or small group reading it would be good - kids could point out all the colors and animals.
Absolutely loved the artwork and colors in this book. Beautiful! Simple story about spring. I wish the book was larger so it could be used in a storytime setting. Great for a lapsit
