Following the car crash which claimed the life of Dr. Douglas, the Prodigy, Halle Whitney, finds herself in the after.

Blessed by the Goddess herself, upon returning from the ethereal realm, nothing is as it was. “They’re calling you queen of the shifters. The ultimate alpha. Goddess-touched.”

Secrets of the curse are revealed and Halle must face a new reality in which she must answer to President Astor.

Phase of Hate takes us on an epic journey as Halle navigates her newfound powers and identity. The character growth and compelling story combined with the angst, the drama, and the mystery to be unraveled, make this second installment an edge-of-your-seat read. I’m literally blown away by just how much I’m loving this series!! Is it October yet?! 😫

What a breathtakingly consuming continuation of this creatively inspired paranormal romance! Coralee June amplifies all that made the first outing in this world magic, deepening the world building, complicated the mystery, raising the stakes of the suspense, and further layering these flawed but dynamic characters that are grappling with their own identities while also trying to navigated the ever changing, life-threatening politics of the world they inhabit. Fate continues to chart a course that they can’t deny- and I am reading every word with bated breath.

Phase of Hate picks up right amidst the aftermath of the devastating cliffhanger in Phase of Fate, with our heroine Halle on the cusp of something monumental- only it’s not quite the death we anticipated. If Halle thought she had to contend with the fate she didn’t one in book one, she’s got even more in store for her in this sequel. Defying the jaws of a painful death doesn’t come without a price- she gets some much needed answers, but now she’s finally going to be forced to confront the truth depths of the role that has been fated for her, and turns out prodigy life or being fated to a shifter isn’t even the beginning of what is in store for this reluctant but capable heroine. Legacies, curses, magic, secrets and betrayal all stand in the way of Halle being able to reclaim her life, only now the life she knew it is completely different. Fate has come calling once again

I’ll say it yet again- the only thing you can expect in a Coralee June book is the unexpected. Just when we think we understand the framework of the world she’s building, the foes at hand, and the architecture of this story, she resets the mold entirely. From the riveting and jaw dropping first chapter until the very last, this story misdirects and twists, obliterating and reshaping our expectations and predictions at every turn. Cora is weaving a very complicated and intricate web- the character arcs, the world building, the politics, and the history all start to come together in Phase of Hate in a masterfully woven plot that consumes and enchants.

While of course this story entertains in the suspense and in the slow burning romance, ultimately this story continues to be an incredibly compelling story centered on existential struggle, one amplified by the tension between nature and nurture, fate and free will. The star of this story continues to be the complicated and resilient Halle. Cora continues to shape one of her most compelling character arcs to date, a journey enriched by the ways in which Cora juxpostes Halle’s physical/fated transformations alongside her emotional evolution. When we met Halle, she was a bereaved and traumatized girl. But she was broken by so much more than the loss of her beloved sister, Halle had long been broken by her lack of purpose, by her insecurities at being a secondary character in her own life. But that overshadowed, lonely, hurt girl is slowly finding herself, even if it’s a version of herself that she resents, resist….transforming into something that she once hated. She’s finding her power, her voice, her purpose and courage, and while we saw her spend a lot of time resentful of the hand fate dealt her, now we see her start to accept, somewhat even embrace the path she’s destined to take. But that means two catalytic and challenging emotional journeys for her- Halle has to face all her own insecurities, her own baggage, to finally love and accept herself. And she also has to do what once felt impossible- confront her hatred, the well-meaning, trauma-induced bias she has against the community that destroyed her life. Especially now that she’s not only mated to one of them…she’s become one herself.

Halle is truly a triumph ,and I loved the subtle social commentary Cora is infusing in Halle’s transformation. We see Halle open her heart and mind, not just to Theo, not just to her fate, but to an understanding that her view of all that has transpired it just that- her own experience, her own perspective, and that’s what helps her grow. Listening, learning, checking judgment. Something amplified by Cora ramping up the politics in this story- and our understanding of the key players, their motivation, and their own agendas becomes more and more clear. This is certainly not a pathway I anticipated for this story (and given the most recent american political landscape, one that might feel a bit close to home for some), but it opens up a whole new avenue for Halle to find her power, and to confront parts of herself and this whole world that must be confronted.

Of course, we still have our amazing cast of characters supporting us along the way, though we have some devastating moments and incredible shocks along the way. Theo too has his own growth in this story, as like Halle he starts to confront the tensions in his own fate. Halle’s transformation certainly makes some of the political dynamics of those tensions easier for Theo, but he also has to face the lasting impact his hesitations had on an already fragile Halle, even if his heart had already chosen her. Theo is starting to realize that his leadership has been lacking- that ultimately his inability to express himself, his passiveness and inaction are more out of fear than strategic caution, and that inaction has as much impact as action. But he really redeems himself a lot in this story, in particular in the ways in which he starts to treat Halle like a treasured partner. The respect and deference he gives her is super sexy- and his dirty mouth is delicious too. The SLOW burn continues, friends- so prepare yourself to be teased.

Twists, turns, and another epic cliffhanger. There’s a lot that needs to happen in this finale- and it’s still unclear how Halle is going to right the world yet again, but we now know more than ever that Halle no longer hates the fate she’s been given, she’s owning it. She’s powerful, she’s clever, and she’s not willing to be a pawn in the world around her. And isn’t that the most amazing part of all- a character who once saw herself as invisible now sees herself as the hero. Now all she needs to do is actually save the day.

Aggravating

Dnf, I already see the same pattern from the previous book. The author loves dragging out the torture and anguish as much as possible. Its just too much. Everyone seems to still be getting on my last nerve in this second time around. And halle? Im 1000% over her character. I just can't do it. This book just took all the fun out of reading for me.

This series is so delightful! I am loving the premise of this series because it is so different from other paranormal stories that I have read before.

I love the way the plot is woven in this series. As I mentioned, the ideas that the author uses for this series are so unique and interesting. I find myself so intrigued by all the details. June really likes to keep the reader on the edge of their seat with unexpected plot twists. The storytelling is so fluid and welcoming. I love the world-building. It is unique to the events and happenings in the story and layered over a real world that has been altered to fit the story details. June does a wonderful job of laying everything out nicely.

The characters are so compelling. I love all of the interactions between the various characters. Each character is distinct and brings something special to the story. I love Halle as the main character. She has been through so much and she is strong and capable. Theo is an intriguing character as well. His entire life has been flipped upside down by the events of the story and he is trying his best for himself and most of all for Halle. He is honorable and such a gentleman. I am loving all the secondary characters as well. Delilah is a delight. Her dialogues always bring a smile to my face. We get to see an unexpected character again from the first book and their presence creates many situations and conflicts for various reasons. There are some new faces and old ones as well. I am loving the character development so far for Halle and I am excited to see where she takes things in the next book.

The romance is pretty tantalizing in this one. I love a good conflict, especially a warranted one full of lingering feelings. I won't go into details because of spoilers but things are definitely interesting on the romantic front in this book.

Overall, this book is a fantastic continuation of Halle's story. This book dives right into where we left off in the first book. We finally get a lot of answers but we still have a lot of things to figure out. If you are into shifter stories with a unique premise and are fond of characters that are relatable then you'll want to pick this series up!

Coralee June kept me completely immersed in Phase of Hate from the first word till the last. I was lost somewhere in the magical and devious world of shifters, prodigies and curses. This rejected mate shifter romance delivers a jaw dropping story full of suspense, action, twists, heartbreak and passion.

It is book two of a trilogy and cannot be read as a standalone. Halle whitney has been back from dead with the curse of the Moon Goddess. She is no longer a prodigy. She is an alpha shifter. The most powerful one in the world. The evil and corrupt and influential prodigies including the president wants to use her power to cure the feral wolves. But it is not so easy. They have ulterior motives. She has to keep fighting for her control, for safety of her loved ones and for the better future of the shifters. Her old guardian and fated mate Theo will be by her side but it may not be enough.

Gahh the twist in this book! Crazy. Freaking mindblowing. Insane. Just absolutely amazing. I could see the threads getting untangled and the puzzle pieces falling into place. I was ridiculously excited and on the edge throughout the story. The story has so many layers and you have to experience it. Halle is going through so many changes and she is incredibly brave and kind. Her grief of losing her sister still lingers while she is being hit with betrayal, heartbreak, lies and overwhelming changes from all side. Her alpha wolf side is so strong but she has to control everything. So much at risk and my heart breaks for this girl. Theo made me swoon and sigh over and over again. He is an alpha but his first priority is his mate. His love and devotion for Halle come from a deep possessive animalistic side and their connection will give you goosebumps. He was being an alpha without pushing Halle, by just helping her through the emotional storm, by protecting her at any cost and at the end, it was still not enough for them. Halle is going to change the world. I was so thrilled to see her powers being awakened and weakening the enemies but the battle is far from over. I cannot for the epic conclusion because I am sure it will be an unforgettable one.

Phase of Hate picks up right where Phase of Fate left off and because this is the middle book, we are also left on a cliffhanger. GAH!! It's tumultuous and still such a great plot all in this new fantasy realm...it's nothing but absolutely delicious!!

There is such an array of emotions in this second book and yet so much of it comes down to Halle trying to suppress those very things. If that doesn't mirror society and how we try to bury our heads in the sand right now...I need to say right now, well done Ms. June. I love similarities and symbolism.

Theo is born a shifter, his instincts are strong, ingrained in his DNA he was born to protect his people and care about what happens to them. The mating bond that begun between him and Halle guides him more than anything, but certainly the more time he spends with her he wants to be with her for the woman she is becoming. However, that bond also strengthens what they feel for each other and as Halle suffers and struggles it only intensifies what he feels for her. Theo is constantly torn between wanting to help and just pushing through like his wolf wants him to.

Halle wasn't born with the instincts that seem to come naturally to Theo or Delilah. She's only known both of them for a very short time in relevance to everyone else in her life and yet she's now been tied to them through her prodigy/guardian mark. At every turn her human emotions seem to overtake her judgement and soon her emotions become a liability. Halle becomes scared of her new inner powers along with the bonds that she has recently formed, Halle's first instinct is to react first and listen later. Her stubbornness may prove too late when she had help close by all along.

I can completely empathize with Halle and all the swirling emotions in her. She's angry and sad and every time someone tells her to calm down it only does the opposite. As much as she'd like to trust her new relationships, it's the hardest thing in the world to jump in blindly especially when you don't understand the people or culture. It's almost like she's a teen raging with hormones, but in this instance her emotional rage could literally harm those around her.

Coralee does a great job moving between characters and expressing just how deeply all of the characters feel. It truly brings out all of the emotional highs and lows along with great tension while still building chemistry between Theo and Halle.

This is the middle of the story and I'm biting my nails to find out what happens next!!! I can hardly wait 😭

Coralee June has created pure enchantment with this trilogy. Due to this being book 2 it does end on a cliffhanger so prepare yourself, however, I found myself utterly spellbound from the second I opened the pages until the very end. Making this one of my favorite fantasy reads of 2022.

This book picks up right where book 1 left off and builds from there. Following where Halle is now after her dad chose to do what he did for her. Her character is completely different and the ARC and growth from book 1 to this is amazing. I loved seeing her mature and really come into her own, really feeling and growing into her new power and what her new role is.

If you think you know where this book is going you don’t. Coralee throws twists and turns at you in all directions. I was left with my mouth hanging open and a tear in my heart by the time I finished. She knows how to skillfully craft stories that have you completely devoted and dying to know what’s going to happen. She is brilliant at what she does, and I am here for every word! Highly recommend this especially if you love shifter romance, and rejected mates are your jam.

Phase of Hate - CoraLee June (Phase Mountain Pack Book 2)

Thank you to @authorcoraleejune for the opportunity to read an ARC of the next in her brilliant “Phase Mountain Pack” series (book one is available on Amazon now - free on Kindle Unlimited too).

We’re joining back up with Halle to see where this instalment in the series takes us, can she really cure the problem the wolves are experiencing?

I do love this world that the author has created!

Okay - I love being an ARC reader BUT the fact that there’s a cliffhanger ending and that I really wanna know what happens next sucks a big hairy one!

October - why are you so far away?!

What can I say, I was sucked right back into Theo and Halle’s world I picked them up like old friends and relished each chapter like a Devine morsel.

I love the way CoraLee June writes it’s captivating and funny.

There’s always a bitch called Jackie isn’t there 🌚

Another excellent read devoured in one sitting!

Whatever you thought you knew from Phase of Fate, wherever you thought the story would be going, throw it out the window.

Buckle up because CoraLee June is taking us on a wild ride with Phase of Hate, the second book in the Phase Mountain Pack trilogy.

I'm not going to divulge anything because I think that would take away from everything the author did to keep us readers on our toes. I will say that if you enjoyed the first book, this one will blow your mind!

Once again, I was left with my jaw practically on the floor with the ending!

What I loved the most about this book is the way the author made me feel as though I'm part of the pack. The whole way through, I felt like I was right there with them experiencing everything they were going through.

I'm so excited to read the third book because I need to know how everything plays out!

This book was wild and explosive and it left me imagining what all could happen in the final book. The Story continues exactly where the first book left and this book deals with Halle's way of learning to life as a shifter mate. She struggles through a lot of things but it was so realistic and easy relatable. The Political aspect here makes the story more twisted and suspense filled. There is a lot left to be answered and I really hope the third book comes out quick.Really unique and best book series from Coralee June.

Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Steaminess: 🌶️🌶️/5

Tropes: Paranormal romance, shifters, fated mates, forced proximity, rejected mates, enemies to lovers

POV: Dual

We jump right into the story in the aftermath of what happened in the first book and from here on out the story goes full steam ahead. So many things happened in this book, and it made me feel so many things. One characters story gave me heartbreak which turned to relief, another character gave me a mind-blowing surprise and elation, and another made me rage and feel disgusted on behalf on Halle to name a few.

Halle goes through so many changes that she now must accept, some which keeps bringing up the pain of losing her sister. At the same time, she struggles through this whole new version of herself that she now has become. This brings up so many different emotions in our heroine and makes me empathize with everything that she is going through and the decisions she must make. Even though I like our heroine I also wanted to shake her and yell at her at times to listen to the advice of the people around her who loves and supports her.

The author throws in many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, but we also finally get some much-needed answers. We also dive deeper into the politics and shifter/prodigy bonds which opens a whole new can of worms for our heroine and the people behind her who supports and helps her.

The story is still slow-burn and I totally get why, but as a consolation we do get some delicious steamy tension between Theo and Halle.

Coralee has made a captivating world and story very different from what she has written before, but I very much approve and relish the story. Now I’m just excited for how it will turn out in the final installment.

“Healing yourself will heal others.”

HO-LYYYYYY CRAP 😳

Phase of Hate picks up right where Phase of Fate left off.
*For anyone who needs a refresher, the car Halle and Dr. Douglas we’re in was hit. Hard.*

The events that unfold afterwards are fast paced and unpredictable.
———
“Healing yourself will heal others.”

I’m gonna be honest.. Halle really aggravated me at times with the way she dealt with the changes she’s experienced.. I can understand why she might be resistant to them, but *logically* it would have made everything easier for herself if she wasn’t so stubborn about it.. It felt like she was holding on WAYYYY to tight to her reasoning for not accepting this path and frankly, she just couldn’t figure out how to get out of her own way.
Of course it’s important to keep in mind the fact she’s ONLY 18..
I couldn’t imagine being tasked with even half of her responsibility at any age.. much less 18.
———
Overall, this book gives Halle the space to really evaluate herself and become her own person. Even with all the variables working against her.
Theo and Delilah really help her with that & Delilah is quickly becoming my favorite 😂.
Ultimately, Halle accepts she’s a bad@ss, the central storyline takes a beautiful turn, and then we’re left with an INsane cliffhanger 🤯.
I canNOT wait for the next book!!

Halle died. Brought back, she is now more. Blessed. Cursed. Now she hears the whispers, constantly taunting her with her weakest thoughts and greatest fears. She's learned the truth, she knows her purpose, but will she be strong enough to succeed?

Have you ever read a book, knowing it will end on a cliffhanger but unable to accept that you won't get all the answers you desperately need before the final page? One where you are unwilling to accept you will have to wait for more? This is that book. It's too good. CoraLee has created a mouthwatering paranormal romance. It's equal parts suspense and emotion. The intensity surrounding these wonderful characters will keep you turning the pages, eager for more. Halle isn't the only standout. Delilah is a serious star. Mom turned out to be a rockstar. JJ is great. And what can I say about Theo? He's so yummy. When he marked his territory, it was swoonworthy. The villains are similarly worthy. Whether they were evil or simply weak, they played their role perfectly. And even though I knew it was coming, that ending killed me, and made me anticipate Halle's final book.

This series just keeps getting better if that's even possible!!

Poor Halle, girl just can't catch a break. She struggles through Phase of Fate not only with the aftermath of losing her sister and best friend/first love but then finding out she's a prodigy, and being stuck with a wolf/guardian she wants absolutely nothing to do with.. well that is until those feelings shift in the best way. Then she is betrayed and taken causing her life to end or so we thought.

Halle, wakes to the sound of her mother sobbing and an incredible strength buzzing through her body.. the revelation to this feeling is shocking and something she has a hard time accepting. Theo tries to guide Halle through this new curve ball thrown at her but again she is taken and convinced she is a danger to everyone around her. Nothing will keep Theo from his mate and he proves this time and time again.
Phase of Hate is the perfect recipe for a book you'll devour in one setting. A little spice, heartbreak, betrayal, jealousy, angst, lies, and love and Now that I'm finished I'll just starve until the final book ;)

Back into the shifter slow burn romance with all the political agenda and twists and turns ! I received an arc and was so thankful . I love Coralees writing style and in this one we see Halles inner turmoil page for page and the battle within herself .
The prodigy system is so crazy and the way the view and use the shifters creates an unbalance in Society and I enjoyed seeing the war raging . Theo is forever a favorite and I was glad for his stand back Attitude but also remaining very alpha when needed . The president lady is such a jerk and she can get it !!
Once we slowly burn to a crisp and receive some steam we all were in heat for ( IYKYK ) I was like yasssss bring it give me more !! A returning character annoyed me and deserves an absolute throat punch that guy !
All around it was a great book two setting us up for what’s all about yo explode into the next book . Can’t wait for more . I love the wolf experience and the feral scenes as well . Will definitely continue series .

My adrenaline was high while I've read this book, probably without properly breathing, because I've felt like I sat at the edge of my seat waiting to get some answers.
Halle wakes up from her accident with unimaginable changes, sadly she's not further away from the people who treat her as lab rat than she was before. Only this time she carries a burden that shouldn't be hers.
What I loved most was the change in Theo and Halle's dynamic. In the past , she felt like a burden, hurt by Theo's rejection. But after thinking he lost her , Theo would do anything to be with her. He put her and her needs first , thought it wouldn't be them if they agreed on those needs.  But he continued to pleasantly surprise me.
I really love the plot , prodigies, protectors, curses and fate ! I rarely read shifter romances, but I'm really invested in this trilogy.
Coralee June has a spectacular way of writing just about anything, and I'm so immersed in the words I wish they wouldn't stop.
If you've read book one, you'll definitely love this one. If you didn't , you'll loosing on reading an amazing shifter romance.

Original review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Coralee June!

Phase of Hate is the second book in the Phase Mountain Pack series and continues the story of Halle and Theo.

After finishing Phate of Fate I was so in shock. I didn’t know what to think of the epilogue, but I did know that I had to get my hands on Phase of Hate. When I got my hands on a copy of Phase of Hate, I was so excited! From the first page I was hooked, and I wanted to know what was going to happen to Halle, Theo and Delilah. Phase of Hate was such an amazing book, and I felt so many different emotions while reading this book.

Halle’s been through so much in Phase of Fate, and in Phase of Hate it’s not getting any better for her. She’s changed, she’s different now, and she’s trying to figure everything out while not everyone’s giving her the time to do so. But I really loved that Theo and Delilah were there for her, and I really really liked all the moments between Halle and Theo!

Coralee June did such an amazing job with Phase of Hate! Usually the second book in a trilogy isn’t that great, but Phase of Hate was such a great book. I couldn’t stop reading, it was so addictive and I wanted to know what was going to happen next to Halle and Theo. Phase of Hate ended with such a massive cliffhanger, and I’m anxiously waiting for the third and final book in the series, Phase of Mate. I cannot wait to read Halle and Theo’s HEA!

Phase of Hate

Phase of Hate is the second book in the Phase Mountain Pack trilogy and is full of explosive revaluations, punchy plot lines and super character development. It’s fast paced, exciting and jaw dropping storytelling and showcases Cora Lee June’s fantastic writing abilities perfectly.

Halle is left to deal with the devastation of her new reality is explained to her. Life as she knows is it, it’s forever changed. She must now work tirelessly to figure out how to deal with her new path and destiny.

Theo has had to quietly work behind the scenes to ensure that Halle is safe and has all that she needs. It really endeared him to me in this story and I fell for his compassionate and fiercely protective nature.

With so many revelations and twists and turns, you won’t be able to put this story down! A fantastic read!

Sent my emotions through a spin cycle

Halle, the newly risen shifter, has been pushed away too many times to believe Theo, an alpha wolf shifter, could ever want her for herself, not what she represents to him. As the story progresses an old friend is discovered, her friends start to hover, and they may find out that they can only trust and rely on each other. Coralee June sent my emotions through a spin cycle while I read Phase of Hate. The road set before Halle, Theo, and their slowly growing pack have a tough road to travel going into Phase of Mate, and only the author can tell us if they will win the final battle.

I don't have the words!!

Ms. Coralee has done it again!

This book ripped my heart out and then stitched it back together more than once. I can not begin to explain how much I'm looking forward to the last book in this trilogy. The twists and turns of the story keep me never knowing where the story might go and I loved every minute of it.

So often the plot twist of a book it easy to guess, or see coming. Unfortunately this takes some of the joy out of the reading process. Don't get my wrong, I can still enjoy the story. But a book that pulls me in and makes me feel like I'm living the story as it goes is something special. Feeling the same emotions as the characters do as they go through the journey is why I read.

Coralee, has never left me disappointed when I've picked up one of her books. Her story telling and world creation make her one of my top 5 favorite authors to read. Thank you ma'am for sharing your gift with all of us.

Phase of Hate( Phase Mountain Pack Book 2) by Coralee June pickedup with Halle dying from the accident. Due to what her father did by giving her the water, she not only comes back to life but is now a shifter. A powerful Alpha shifter who can affect the feral shifters. She now has to navigate everything that has  happened to her.  Her new found abilities has put her in the sites of the President. Now in a precarious position of doing somethings she doesn't want to do she has to deal with all the feelings that are going along with all these changes. With what she already knows about the creation of shifters and the revelation of her father unleashing the curse, her emotions are all over the place.  Her and Theo are still trying to navigate their relationship as well having Delilah in the mix. This is such a good story.  I finished this story rather quickly and can't wait for the conclusion to this story. I sure as heck didn't see the ending to this book and am excited as to how the author will conclude this story.  Halle is now capable of doing almost anything and I can't wait to see what she can do next. A 4 star read for me.

Once again June has written a book I read in one sitting, and left me awed at the end. This book flew by for me, and I didn't even realize I was at the end until I was. It's rare that a book holds me so captivated that I'm not aware of the end coming up.

Halle is such a strong character. She continues to have one thing after another tossed at her. She rises to every challenge, and is learning along the way who truly wants to be there for her. Loyalty is rewarded, and traitors are noted.

This is a slow burn PNR, that is plot driven. It is worth a chance even if PNR is not your thing.
