TEMPT THE COURT JESTER, AND HE’LL RUIN YOU.

I became the obsession of the most wicked man at court.

I’d refused to follow the jester’s devious rules, but from the moment his seductive touch heated my veins, he took my soul captive, and the good little princess became a royal outcast.

Now I’m his to worship, and he’s mine to rule. Instead of burning out, the passionate fire between us only blazes hotter.

But while forbidden desire binds us together, kingdoms seek to tear us apart. A corrupt king threatens my claim to the throne. A cruel prince offers us a vicious bargain. And new traitors lurk in the shadows of our court.

Amid dark secrets, I must play a deadly game and risk more than ever. Not only my crown, but also my heart.

Dark Seasons: Foolish Kingdoms is a scorching romantasy series that must be read in order. Perfect for readers who want: steamy fantasy romance, ruthless devotion, and a tortured antihero who would burn kingdoms for her.

Loved it!! Holy smokes book 1 meh, 2 good, this one what????? Lots of ups and downs, not a 5 because 1/2 of the book is mainly smut- which is great but sometimes I need more story over the smut and this kind of took over. BUT still loved it!

So I will admit this series started to lose its shine the farther we went. I had three takeaways from this book. 1.) Broad and Poet were some of the h0rniest characters I had read in a while. 2.) Briar's mom was kind of a weak ruler since she is willing to give away some of her people. and 3.) She also wasn't a great mom because of the whole fake engagement thing she tried to force on Briar.

I just didn’t care anymore. It was probably because the word “folds” was used 66 times in this book. And because nothing happened. And because I had to read the 35 page long smut scenes. I thought I’d continue this series but I’m just gonna move on and hope I never have to hear about Briar’s “weeping pussy folds juices” whatever else words used

You can find this review of Burn in my blog, Heart's Content!

A big shout out and thank you to the author for providing me an Advanced Reader’s Copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! You can also find my review of the first edition of the series and my reviews of Trick (second edition) and Ruin (second edition) on my blog.

Burn is the third book in the new edition of the Foolish Kingdoms series. This new edition focuses on the main couple from Trick (Poet and Briar) who were originally featured in the first book of the first edition of the four book series where each book featured a different couple. This new edition is much much heavier and delves deeper into the happenings around the revolution. Burn is also the final book that will feature Poet and Briar and I have to say it had some really finale worthy moments, characters and events.

I was surprised by how big this baby was and I wasn’t sure what this book would bring after that final cliffhanger in book two, Ruin. I actually had to go back a bit and read the reason for that ending, even though I remembered the emotions involved in it very vividly. A quick catch-up was all I needed and I would recommend doing that before coming to the finale to this trilogy. This book brings the heat, the pain, the fight and the conclusion…for now.

What I loved about Trick when I first read it was that it had a lyrical style of writing to it that really enthralled me. It also greatly suited the personalities of its storytellers—given that the writing alters between the POVs of Poet and Briar. Jaster has truly, somehow, kept that going throughout the three books of this new series. Poet and Briar are the same but more. There’s so much of wit, humour and whip smart dialogue that is just delectable. I’m aware that Jaster‘s style of prose and almost poetry-like approach to writing may not be for everyone, but it worked like a charm for me. The writing and narrative also shifts with the personalities of each couple as the series progresses, so I’m really excited to see what Jaster brings with the next book in the series that will feature Flare and Jeryn (my favourite couple of this series. I know I know, how is Poet not my favourite? My answer to that: Meet. Jeryn.)

The world-building has been done over the course of the whole series so honestly, you’re mostly aware of everything you see on scene, however, Jaster is going to throw some revelations at you that she may have actually foreshadowed before that we could’ve easily missed thinking it was a simple poem or a simple story—my advice: don’t disregard anything as ‘something simple’. There really shouldn’t be a struggle for any reader on the world building front—surprises, yes, struggles? unlikely.

The characters are so wonderfully the same and more. Be it Briar, Poet, Nicu, Eliot, Posy, Jeryn, Flare… I love how Jaster maintains that consistency in her writing over the years, given how many years ago she wrote this series and is now rewriting it. They speak exactly as I remember them to, they behave, react, love, fight, believe and are exactly as I remember them being and reading about them is always like coming home in some ways. Briar and Poet have always made a really lovely team and I love that each book progressively shows them getting better at working with each other, communicating, holding space for one another well, supporting and understanding one another without that friction from book two (which was another very natural progression from book one).

The plot has been something that is very very close to my heart from the moment that I read the first edition of this series and I’ve only fallen more in love with the story that Jaster was trying to say with time. I love how this book lays down the final step for this story which also happens to be the push-off step for the next book in the series. The current plot line has been put to rest, but it’s very evident that this is just the beginning and I can’t believe how many threads Jaster is crossing and weaving together. Master Puppeteer on that front for sure. I loved loved seeing a scene in the book that’s reminiscent of that final scene in the last book of the first edition series of Foolish Kingdoms.

The pace in the book is the only aspect I struggled with. I did feel there were portions that felt more drawn out than other parts, which made me feel like the actual story begins close to the fifty percent mark. This was a very subjective experience of course that may not be applicable to all readers.

The book is heavy on everything it presents, nothing is done in moderation. The biggest of that being all the heart that Jaster‘s books always have that this lovely one does too. I would highly recommend that you check the trigger warnings before diving. There are many strong sentiments, painful moments, death, gore, betrayal, etc. So, do enter with caution! Four and a half stars! Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is absolutely free for you! ❤

...Did anyone else feel like this whole book was "lather, rinse, repeat" only with "kidnapping, sex, plot to kill Briar"?

The writing was great when we had focus on Nicu, Briar, and Poet's connection (I loved the moment when Briar returns and Poet finds her snuggled up for story time with Nicu. She's all "I'm sorry I left our bed. I just missed him" and Poet goes "welcome to being a parent". Briar says "Is that what I am?", but we all know she wants to be called "Mama" and lo and behold, she is, just before the novel's end), as well as the political intrigue.

Best part: the intro of Jeryn and Flare... well, I read OG Dare and now I plan on buying the re-issue... after I just said I wouldn't! Anyone know when that will be released (still not giving away my OG copy though. I'm told it's actually no longer available)?

Poet and Briar just... got kinda stale after awhile. Also, never again do I want to picture anyone's breasts "lurching" before sex. Did we need three books for this one couple? Maybe two would've sufficed.

And now I've got cannon Q's:
*Did they actually get married or is it common law?
*Is their daughter from Dream gonna even exist? With all their doing-the-do on the fly, I would've thought she'd be in this book's ending.
*Can we get a reversal from Jeryn for Flare's infertility?! I literally wrote an unpublished fanfic of it. Or if not that, then we see Flare getting frustrated from not getting pregnant (we have seen her nurturing side in the OG Dare book, and now she wants to be connected to the person she loves in every conceivable -no pun intended-way. and Jeryn eventually having to tell her that not only is it never going to happen, but that he's technically the one responsible, having created the serum)? This would make trusting him a true test for her, but also further exploration into Jeryn's caring side, should they choose to adopt.

With all the skimming, (I'm not a prude, but fuck me, can they talk as much as they screw?) guess it's a 2.5?

I had the wonderful opportunity to read this ARC for an honest review.

Burn is the 3rd book, and conclusion to Poet and Briar's story. Make sure to check out my review of the 1st two books, Trick and Ruin.

I found it easy to get swept back into the world of The Dark Seasons. I love the atsmophere of the kingdom of autumn. I love Briar and her relationship with the land. As much as I love Poet, I became more anxious to get to her chapters with this book.

I loved where Briar took refuge and how Poet had to find her. I love Eliot amd Cadence and their loyalty and friendship.

I just adore Queen Avalea, and how she interacts with Poet and Nicu. And I love that these characters are fighting to create better lives for those called "born souls".

And Jeryn! Winter has entered the chat 👀

I had mentioned in my review of the first two books, that the spice can be a bit excessive, but it didnt take away from the plot. I think, in this book's case, the plot to spice ratio wasn't as balanced, and at times I would just skim through or skip to get back to the plot. That is the only reason I knocked off a star. But if extended spicey scenes are yout jam, this won't be an issue for you.

That being said, this book is beautifully written, and is a satisfying conclusion to Briar and Poets story!

Rating: 5✨ (A million honestly!)
Spice: 3.75🌶

Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. Like always, this review is voluntary & honest.

Wow, I absolutely LOVED this book. It was such a perfect conclusion to Briar & Poet's story & overall just bittersweet. The characters in this series have made their way into my heart & I adore them WHOLEHEARTEDLY. I was fully invested in Briar & Poet getting their well-deserved HEA and they definitely did. It was absolute perfection. Also, can I just say that I LOVE Natalia's writing? It has a way of captivating you from the beginning & keeping you hooked the whole time. I'm obsessed, it's just beautiful.

Briar, my Queen's growth was incredible. There was such a vast difference in Briar from the first book, Trick, to this book in the best way and I loved that we got some parallel moments to show the difference or mentions/flashbacks of them. I was tremendously proud of her growth individually & as a leader, but also as a partner. Her passion for change & fairness, as well as her passion when it comes to love, whether it is loving Poet or loving her family, she will always love fiercely. She became an overall favorite of mine & I cannot wait to still see her in future books!

Poet, my goodness how I adore this man. And the way I screamed when his real name was finally revealed? (Not spoiling it sweetings 🤫). This man's personality was so complex in the best way. His witty personality, his fierce & protective nature when it comes to those he loves, his sharp tongue & the way he just EXUDES confidence & sensuality. Seeing him love fiercely & freely in this book made my heart sob of happiness. Poet as a partner, as an equal, was just perfection. The man is a leader & the way he thinks is honestly so attractive. I just love him with my whole heart.

The banter? Perfection. The spice? Deliciously scorching.

My baby Nicu deserves all the happiness & love in the world. That child will forever hold a place in my heart. Queen Avalea also owns my heart. A fierce mother, a fair Queen & a woman with a heart of gold. I loved seeing her relationship with Briar's little family grow. Aire, I love him so much. I cannot wait to potentially get his book in the future! Elliot, Cadence and the rest of the ladies were sweethearts & such loyal friends. They deserve their own HEA. We are also introduced to new characters that have me so intrigued for their own stories, I'm seriously on the edge of my seat needing to know more of them.

Overall, I loved this book dearly, as well as its characters & its world. I'm so excited to see the series continue & to learn more about the side characters we've grown to love & also be super intrigued by. Natalia truly wrote an ending so perfect for Briar & Poet, I can't say I wanted/needed more than this. It felt so real & it made my heart feel so full. It was truly a story for campfires. It was all, it was everything. 🧡

I was very lucky enough to receive an arc copy of this book and seasons I am so over the moon about it. I stumbled onto Trick and fell absolutely in love with the book, characters and world.

SPOILERS BELOW!

I didn’t think it was possible for each book to be better than the last but Burn truly was an amazing read for me. While reading, you can just see how much though and effort Natalia put into her world building. There is so much lore and information for the Seasons and their landscape and seeing it through Briars eyes, being in the Lost Treehouses and everything in-between was truly amazing. I would probably even read a book just about Autumns terrain, flora and fauna if Natalia wrote it. Also I hope we see something about the magical Acorns in Autumn in later books because it seems cool and also maybe important for future stories???
Besides the cool ass landscape and plants, there was SO much good spice in Burn. It went on for PAGES. Natalia was not playing around when she said this was a spicy book 😂 and I am HERE FOR IT.
I cried, laughed and seriously enjoyed this entire book.
Seeing Nicu grow up, and be around people who were kind to him seriously made my tear up. When he called Briar mama I also cried again. It was so heart warming. Also Briars sleep over with her mom was so cute and I loved that whole scene.
I really can’t wait to read about Jeryn and Aires books because I really liked both of those characters and it will be so cool to have a continuation of the world even if Poet and Briar aren’t the main characters.
Thank you for the arc and creating all of this goodness Natalia! ♥️♥️♥️

Burn is the last story for Briar and Poets main story line and what a great story Natalia has given us!

Briar and Poet are an absolute force of nature and I miss them already!

Briar and Poets love story is always at the forefront but what they stand for and what they want for their Kingdom is not far behind. These two have an uphill battle trying to make The Seasons better for all the people but if anyone can succeed it would be them. Individually they have their strengths but together they are unstoppable. They are strong, resilient, fierce and fight for each other, the ones they love and the ones that doesn’t have a voice to fight for themselves.

I love how Poet and Briar are written so differently. I feel that many books with dual POVs convey a personality change but don’t change how the characters speak or the vocabulary they use. Briar and Poet are so different in how they talk and their mannerisms and this is conveyed so well!

And the banter. The banter was masterful! The back and forth with Poet and ANY character is always so fun!

If you are looking for spice then Burn has ALL the spice. Natalia did not hold back on us. Poet and Briar are so passionate and raw that any less spice just would
Not have been our Jester and Thorn.

I loved ALL the moments with Nicu. That boy has a special place in my heart. If NICU is in a scene I’m probably going to be teary eyed.

We have a few new characters that are introduced. The Winter Prince and Flare. And our old Lady friends, Elliot and Aries are front and center for Burn too!

After all that, all I can say is Burn and really this entire series is a must read if you love SPICY fantasy romance. Be ready to laugh, cry, yell, curl your toes and blush.

4.5 ⭐️ What a way to wrap up Briar and Poets story!! It was done in true "Briar & Poet" fashion! This book was steamy, it was sexy and as always, beautifully written. I will never stop raving about how much I love Natalia's poetic and bewitching writing style. I will admit, this book was heavy on the spice and not exactly plot heavy...but... I wasn't mad about it. Maybe a little jealous of Briar, because Poet is a literal GOD!! I knew going into this book, that it was going to be extremely spicy, so that definitely helped. Overall, I'm very excited to start the next book in the series, Dare! I'm already intrigued knowing that we will get to explore some new characters!

I would absolutely recommend the Foolish Kingdoms series to anyone who is looking for a Cozy/Dark Fantasy Romance series that is unique and deliciously spicy!

Loved loved loved loved it. I’m so sad to see Poet and Briar’s journey come to an end, but am so excited to read about Jeryn in the next book. I loved his character and am curious to learn more about him and Flare.

Poet and Briar are probably in my top five character couples. I love how much they grow and mature with each other. How they give one another complete trust and comfort. The writing between them was some of the best I’ve read so far this year. Their love story was just a beautiful thing to read.

I also really enjoyed the world building in the Autumn court. I also loved the inclusion of characters with disabilities and the treatment of them. I’m curious to see where others will end up and plan on reading the entire series!

The way my heart will never forget Poet and Briar 😭
The spicy, action-packed conclusion of the court jester and Autumn princess' story was everything I wanted!
Natalia's ability to infuse emotion into her writing is remarkable. I felt like I was in the book, living and breathing with the characters, and I just 😩 I feel like this series will be a yearly reread for me because I will start to miss Poet's sassy mouth and Briar's fierce strength.

This end to the trilogy and the amount of fucking that goes on is this is mind blowing in the best of ways since these two are completely gone for each other but just k ow you’ll need a tall glass of water and a snack to get through this book. Great story and the author kept the characters true to their story arcs all the way through which I so appreciate! 🖤♥️

Ughhh I didn’t expect to tear up but here we are 🥹 I know it isn’t the last we will see of Briar and Poet but I am sad to have come to the end of their story.

In this epic conclusion to their story, Briar and Poet’s resilience is so strong, even when it seems like all is lost they keep fighting. And boy does their love and devotion for each other stand the test of time. You can feel the intimacy between the two of them and oh my is the spice spicing in this one.

Poet will stop at nothing if anyone lays a hand on his Princess but he also lets Briar fight her own battles with him right beside her. While Briar may have been knocked down a bit, Poet is right there to remind her of who she is.

It takes a lot for me to tear up but there were some lovely tender moments that got me in this one. I am going to miss reading these two. However, we get to meet some new characters in this story which setups up beautifully to move into the next book in this series. I am anxious to read more about grumpy Jeryn and Flare in the next book Dare.

Natalia's writing reads like poetry. The way she builds a scene is absolutely beautiful. I fell in love with Poet and Briar, not just for the romance but for their love of one another. Burn was the perfect ending of their story. Can't wait to read more from the Foolish Kingdoms!

About six months ago, I read a recommendation for the first book in this series, Trick. I was skeptical about its premise; I couldn't get past the incongruous image of a sexy jester! In response, the author Natalia Jaster challenged me to give the first book a chance. After giving it some thought, I decided that I really had nothing to lose, and shortly thereafter, I was able to tell her and others that Poet and Briar surprised me in the best possible ways, to the point that I became an ARC reader for Burn (and I'm so glad to have had this opportunity).

Burn continues in the same vein as the two previous books, particularly in its attention to emotion and human strengths and weaknesses. Book #3 picks up where Ruin ends, and immediately draws in the reader to the anguish of that moment and the time that immediately follows while Briar and Poet are inevitably separated. Naturally that cannot last forever (it *is* a romance, after all, and romance readers need their HEAs). Their reunion is epic, and leads to resolution of the conflicts established in the prior two books, most notably Ruin.

Burn continues all that readers expect from this series, including rich settings tied closely to the natural world, a believable fantasy plot, as well as unique characters. There is really nothing bad to say about a book that delivers what readers want from it (e.g., Poet with and without his leather pants; Poet's insatiable appetite for everything Briar; Poet as the fierce protector of those who he loves... and the spice that readers expect from works by Natalia Jaster). All of this is paired with a highly satisfactory and logical story, culminating in conclusions to threads introduced in both previous books. As before, this third part is untainted by tired tropes, but is enhanced by the inclusion of unique literary undercurrents that give depth to this world.

While there is much to love, I wish that there had been a bit more room for internal growth for the likable FMC and MMC, as each character and their relationship is almost too perfect. At the same time, the major villain character still seems a bit too over the top in being a bad actor, to the point that it seems somewhat unbelievable that they would have any allies. Finally, the introduction of a new villain (likely a morally gray character who will ultimately follow their own arc of growth and redemption) was intriguing and timely; I wish that this storyline would have had just a smidge more development than it did in this volume. These are small complaints about a story that is otherwise exactly what I wanted out of this read.

Without a doubt, I will count down to the release of the next book, and will keep encouraging others to give this series a try.

This was a satisfying conclusion to Briar and Poet’s story. If you’re a fan of the OG Foolish Kingdoms series and are curious to know what shenanigans these two precious beans get up to before the events in Dare I highly recommend reading this trilogy. I’m even more excited now to read Flare and Jeryn’s story!

I was aware that Burn is the spiciest book Natalia has written—and it certainly is SPICY—however it did feel a bit excessive at times. I skimmed through the majority of those chapters and doing so always threw me out of the story… :( I kinda expected a little more out of Briar’s banishment too and felt the conflict after Ruin’s ending was overcome a little too easily.

Overall though I still enjoyed the story and am forever grateful for Natalia taking the time to flesh out Briar and Poet’s story. The ending will leave you teary eyed and crying those happy tears.

I was provided an ARC & an audio copy of this book by the author and am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

“A tale for campfires. That is all. That is everything.”

As the story of Poet and Briar draws to its conclusion, I can confirm with teary eyes that I was TRICKED, RUINED and BURNED along the way— and I’m quite certain that I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

This headstrong and fierce princess and her sharp tongued jester utterly bewitched me with their strength as well as their love, and I think Burn was a beautifully written PERFECT way for their journey to conclude.

That said, there were some wildly lovable side characters with equally compelling backstories, so I am beyond thrilled and very excited to learn we’ll be seeing some more of them over the course of the three remaining books the author has plans for within the series!

*EDIT TO ADD that the audio is phenomenal. Emotionally right on the money, and the narrators have done an immaculate job of bringing everything between Poet and Briar to life.

Thank you so much, Natalia, for allowing me to be an advance reader and for the gifted audio copy! As always, I will definitely be coming back for more.

I would like to begin by thanking the author for an e-ARC of the book in exchange for a completely honest review of the book.

My rating is closer to about a 4.5

I absolutely ADORED this book. Briar, Poet and their little clan have my whole heart. They collectively all bring such warmth and it's kind of bittersweet to see their story come to an end. That being said this was such an immensely satisfying conclusion to Briar and Poet's story. They are a tale that I will hold close to me always. Truly a story for campfires with how exciting and beautiful every moment of it was.

Briar in book 1 and Briar in this one are two completely different people and that is so telling of her growth. She has taken every experience and adversity that she faces to propel her towards her goal. The ending of book 2 had my heart in my throat for fear of her. I am so inspired by how she was able to persevere even stronger despite the forces that seek to cause her demise. Briar is such an incredibly intelligent, resourceful, kind, and compassionate character that I will always support with my whole chest.

Poet did things to my heart. I mean he was always perfection, but he is especially protective, possessive, and unhinged in this. They dare mess with his princess ? Then they shall face the wrath of a jester with a wicked tongue. Poet continues to be the sexy, cunning, and witty court jester that we love him for. But, his "alpha male" tendencies really came out because of all the threats being thrown at his beloved thorn left and right. We finally discover his real name in this and I literally screamed when I saw it. Having this new piece of information about him felt so special for some reason.

Boy was this book spicy. Like I am not playing when I say that there was pure PAGES of smut and honestly I was here for it. Poet and Briar have grown so much as a couple from book 1 until now. They harbor something so precious, undeniably passionate, and healthy. These two are partners and equals in every single sense of the word. They bicker, and challenge one another, but still remain united as well as helpless in love at the end of it all. In each book, we see their relationship continuously shift and grow into something strong and worthy of envy. I love how they both fought so ferociously for each other and their little family with Nicu. Briar and Poet are such a power couple. Their love story is one that I will always look back to with fondness, awe, and they will never cease to cause me to swoon.

I felt like everything was rounded up quietly nicely and the ending that our beloved characters got is nothing short of fitting. I loved seeing Poet and Briar get their HEA, but still continue to strive towards their goals of peace and justice for the oppressed and overlooked in their society. Their dedication to their campaign was inspiring and realistic. Movements take time and I hope to see their progression with it in the books for the other characters.

In conclusion this story is one that I will hold dearly. I undeniably fell in love with the characters, the world, and the greater sociopolitical themes that it seeks to address. Natalia definitely laid down the groundwork for more books set in this same world and I am literally so excited. The next story will follow a certain feisty young lady and a dark prince of winter. I hope we continue to learn more about the world and I will literally scream if we get more Poet + Briar cameos.

🌶 4/5

I'm so honored to have been able to ARC read all three of these babies & talk with Natalia a few times. Honestly, from the bottom of my entire heart - thank you. For creating these characters, these stories, and giving me so much life.

Review:

Natalia does it again. Seriously, the way she writes should be studied. Her words are so beautiful and the way she weaves a story is breathtaking.

Burn was the most beautiful way to end Briar and Poet's story and I'm still so thankful she wrote two more books for them because years ago when I read the original version of Trick, I became completed enchanted with Poet & Briar - so would I ever turn down more of them? Nay, perish the thought!

Poet will always render me speechless with his devotion to Briar and Nicu. His words, the way he can uses his wit and tongue as his main weapon. How he can outsmart everyone and anyone. Literally every scene where Poet goes head to head (or tongue to tongue) with someone will have me cackling. How he gave Briar the means to be the best version of herself and how he would walk through fire (literally) for his princess. Poet is hands down one of the most unique characters I've ever read - Natalia did such an amazing job creating a character as enchating as Poet. His POVS are some of my favorite.

And Briar's resiliance and strength, her loyalty to her court, people and family. Briar's love for Poet and Nicu. Every moment we got with her and Nicu, my heart just swelled. Briar's growth over this trilogy was perfection.

Briar & Poet are forever one of my all time favorite couples. Their love story is so damn beautiful. Truly the most perfect campfire story.

Some of my favorite scenes/things:

- Their reunion scene? My heart! 🥹
- The entire chapter filled with various sexy time scenes? 🥵
- Any and all Nicu scenes 💕
- The first meeting with Jeryn & Poet had me crying laughing 😂
- Poet going in on the Summer King 💀
- Briar and her mother's relationship growth
- The Summer Queen going in on her husband 💀

And as someone who read the original series - meeting Aire, Aspen, Flare and Jeryn again but, more of a origin into how they all knew each other and Briar & Poet prior to their respective books was so much fun!

Honestly, I'll forever worship the ground Natalia walks on for her writing and bringing these beautiful characters and stories to life. And can I just say, no one writes more beautiful smut then Natalia and yes, I meant beautiful. 😅 If you read these books, you'll understand.

If you love these, you'll love this series!

Review:  Briar and Poet’s epic conclusion will leave you reeling with hints of what’s to come! Natalia weaves a riveting finale in this third book that has whimsical themes and sparks of fate woven into their romance. We finally get to see Briar rise to the future Queen she is supposed to be and celebrate Poet’s everlasting devotion to her.

"𝓨𝓸𝓾, 𝓶𝔂 𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓻𝓷. 𝓨𝓸𝓾 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓶𝔂 𝓽𝓪𝓵𝓮 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝓬𝓪𝓶𝓹𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮𝓼."

Briar continues her character growth in this book and after the harrowing ending of book 2 we see how she matures and rises to the occasion. I loved seeing her battle her demons that are both within herself and within the Realms. Natalia outdid herself with creating the culmination of Briar’s arc in this story and I enjoyed seeing how she fought for her beliefs in court. I also found myself invested in the growing relationship she had with Poet’s son, Nicu. The apparent love she had for him was beautiful to witness and I cannot wait for his story to come.

"𝓣𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓱𝓪𝓭 𝓼𝓽𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓮𝓭 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓪 𝓻𝓲𝓫𝓫𝓸𝓷. 𝓦𝓲𝓬𝓴𝓮𝓭 𝓱**𝓵, 𝓲𝓽 𝔀𝓸𝓾𝓵𝓭 𝓮𝓷𝓭 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮."

Poet on the other hand is still the dark villain in the story but no longer is one to Briar. His character truly develops into the person Briar needs at her side through thick and thin in this book and I was sad to see his story come to an end. I thought the way Natalia devolved his character after Briar’s dismissal from court to be pivotal since it leads him to bring her back and I also LOVED how he was her fiercest supporter (even during their spouts). I adored how we really get to see him be a father to Nicu in this book and how he delves more into Nicu’s disability. I found myself enthralled with his chapters and the way he wove his romance with Briar and how his love spanned Courts and Kingdoms.

"𝓘 𝓴𝓲𝓼𝓼𝓮𝓭 𝓱𝓮𝓻 𝓽𝓸 𝓬𝓵𝓪𝓲𝓶 𝓱𝓮𝓻. 𝓘 𝓴𝓲𝓼𝓼𝓮𝓭 𝓱𝓮𝓻 𝓽𝓸 𝓬𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓱 𝓱𝓮𝓻. 𝓘 𝓴𝓲𝓼𝓼𝓮𝓭 𝓱𝓮𝓻 𝓽𝓸 𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮 𝓱𝓮𝓻."

This book is HAWT! It is by far the spiciest and the wittiest. I adored how they both come together to make one another stronger and loved how they feed off each other in all facets of life. I enjoyed reading about how Poet continues to corrupt Briar’s innocence and was excited for them to get their HEA. I was an ABSOLUTE fan of all his dirty talk and sarcastic banter. While their HEA is hard fought, we are given plenty of hints in this book of what is to come and who will play a role in future books in this series…and I CANNOT WAIT!

Rating: 100+, an epic conclusion to Poet and Briar’s story!

"This had started with a ribbon. Wicked hell it would end with fire."
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The euphoria, excitement, tension, worry, desperation, love, adoration, tenderness. This is it. Top of your tbr. rn. I have been utterly hooked to every wonderfully poetic sentence out of Poets mouth, and if spice is something you look for, this series is it. It's mindblowing!

But the romance and spice is only a small part. Natalia Jaster has done a beautiful job crafting such amazing books and characters here.

The plot of this series is so full of depth and so well plotted and laid out. Everything flowed so naturally, I never wanted to close the book to sleep. I love the disability representation, we don't get it as stark as this series has given for a fantasy. The way the characters slowly gain understanding and respect, the learning experiences and the way they work together to create a better world is amazing to read.

Briars character has developed so brilliantly, her selflessness that she's learned from her parents and tries her best to live up to, she's a force, she's wonderful and truly a queen.

The reunion of Briar and Poet was so exciting and exhilarating and sexy too of course, but what teared me up even more was the reunion with her mother and Nicu, who is just everything. It was so beautifully written and wrapped in so much emotion.

The scenery too is stunning, the environments so immersive, they're so fantastical and fantasy filled. You can really see why this series is called 'Dark Seasons'. I love the magic and uniqueness in every land.

My previous reviews for book 1 and 2 go into lots more detail of each book and my favourite moments, there are so many elements to touch on. This series has been so phenomenal to experience, and 'Burn' was an absolutely epic conclusion. I have been completely captivated by this series from beginning to end.

I feel so lucky to have discovered this series, and thank you so so much to @nataliajaster for gifting me this ARC! These books will forever be my favourites.

(although this book was gifted to me, the first two books I loved and bought with my own money, and I personally applied for this ARC hoping so much that I'd be accepted, so this review is completely my honest thoughts!)

*slight spoiler here*

I can't wait for the next book 'Dare' which follows Jeryn, the Winter Prince who is newly introduced to us, there's so much intique to him, and the love interest being a born soul (who are kept as slaves and are shunned characters with disabilities) is a wonderful tie in to the first three books!

*end spoiler*

Natalia Jaster has done it yet again! A complete and utter masterpiece! This is completely poetry in writing! Poet and Briar patch’s love story is an absolute epic tale! I cannot stress to you how amazing this trifecta of books are!

You start off with Trick, then you have Ruin, and now she wraps up this epic, and I mean EPIC fantasy love story with Burn!!! This is one of my top favorite fantasy stories! I have never ready anything like this. It is such an original and unique tale! Such an epic fantasy romance that will burn through your veins! It is so well written, with no plot holes, and no questioning on where we’re going or what’s happening to the characters. An easy, smooth read that keeps you absolutely captivated! Poet and Briar are two of my favorite characters in a story that I have both absolutely fallen in love with! This epic, romantic fantasy is everything you want, and looking for! The characters are believable, and relatable, and absolutely lovable! All the side characters will keep you laughing and enthralled in this amazing world.

The power of this romance and the spice will sizzle through your veins and keep your heart pumping!! 5/5🌶️ The intensity, and the power of their love is incredible! You can feel it right through the Pages!

The plot in the story is just so powerful. This princess and her jester working for equality for people. And not just in their kingdom, but in other kingdoms as well that can’t fight for themselves. To prove, and to show that all life is equal, human justice, and worth living no matter who you are. This is set in an medieval setting and is absolutely inspiring!

I imagined all different types of endings that I would love for Poet and Briar, but this ending was so much better than I can imagine! Two thumbs up! I am absolutely thrilled how Mrs. Jaster wrapped up this beautiful, intense, powerful love story!

This is a completed trilogy, and an absolute must read! Do not pass this series up! I am so excited for more of the foolish kingdom series! I simply can’t wait! Natalia you are one of the few authors that is an instant buy for me! Thank you for this brilliant, epic, powerful, moving fantasy/love story!

5/5🌟 and the completed trilogy is a 5/5🌟 5/5🌶️ 18+ make sure to always check your trigger warnings.
Enjoy my bookish friends and remember; if you love/like a book, talk about it!

* I received this book as an ARC, but I can assure you all the thoughts in this review are my own.

"Trick me. Ruin me. Burn me." & sweetings, did Natalia ever – in the absolute best way with this amazing series!

Poet and Briar forever hold a piece of my heart. Their love, connection and passion for one another and humanity is ignited more than ever in Burn.

We dove right in after the cliffhanger in Ruin. I am normally not a fan of main characters being separated but I raveled in Poet and Briar's dialogue apart. Their longing for one another unlocked a deeper, more mature side of them to understand the power, deceptions and truths at play. And their reunion? Chef's kiss!

Poet – always a pleasure on the pages. This man has me in a chokehold and he is one of my favorite characters of all time. His allure, confidence and sultry personality is magnetic. He is fierce, clever and resourceful. My favorite jester mask he wears though? Vengeful, especially for his sweet thorn.

Briar's character development truly shines in this book and it was divine to watch her get a little lost to reconnect with her autumn roots to find herself again. I've always liked her, but book three Briar was captivating; I was on the edge of my seat constantly rooting for her.

Their banter, support and wit are top tier! I cannot get enough of them and how far they have come from book one. The way they revel in their wicked desires while being a safe space and emotionally in tuned with each other is truly a tale for the campfire.

I am always mesmerized and in awe of Natalia’s lyrical & beautiful writing. Her words sing me to my soul. I teared up reading the author’s note concluding Poet and Briar’s story & reminiscing how it all started with a red ribbon.

Rest assured, they will still be around for the rest of the series, just not as the main couple to follow. I can't wait to follow Jeryn, the cold, Winter Prince and Flare, the golden-eyed captive next in Dare!

"I had many rules, and the most vital one was this. When a jester worshiped his princess, he was ready to die for her. But when a jester lost his princess, he was eager to kill for her."

Burn is the third and final book in the fabulous Foolish Kingdoms series and it continues Poet and Briar's forbidden love story (and so much more) picking up where Ruin finished. Yep. At that AWFUL cliffhanger!

If you haven't read Trick and Ruin by the talented Natalia Jaster, stop reading this review right now, download the first two books and then inhale them as fast as you can!

Without giving too much away, as always the plot is amazing, Poet and Briar are tested but are still consumed with each other, the angst levels are heightened, the feels are real and the smexy times are totally hot❤️‍🔥!

Burn is an adult, steamy AF conclusion to the series, with diverse characters and fabulous representation. The writing is beautiful, totally descriptive and divine. The world building is stunning, the characters sublime and the ending was just perfection. Have your tissues handy!

Burn by Natalia Jaster
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25
🌶🌶

What I loved:
🎭 Poet and Briar's relationship
🎭 found family
🎭 Winter

Initially, I started this series like I do most: completely blind to the plot. With each book I was continually surprised by how much I loved them. What I didn't expect going into Burn was that this is the finale for Briar and Poet.

Jaster wrote the MCs, Briar and Poet, so phenomenally. Briar and Poet are the most realistic portrayal of a couple/relationship I've ever read in a fantasy. Burn was also the perfect curtain closer for them. Their reunion was epically romantic and was so fitting for their relationship. I loved how their romance deepened even further. How they continually showed up for one another. I could just go on and on! I love Briar and Poet so much, they are absolutely one of my top ten book couples!

While Burn was a finale for Briar and Poet, it isn't the end for the series and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the next couple and the groundwork Burn laid for the next plot. The supporting characters, new and old, were given ample time to shine in this. The found family was heartwarming. And that callback scene between Briar and her mother?! This really was the perfect wrap-up!

I also really liked getting more information on the world and the history. The Autumn Court had many secrets and I enjoyed uncovering them and how adept Briar was with her Court and in its history. Jaster is building such a fascinating world and I can't wait for it to expand in the next books.

One of my absolute favorite parts of this book was the ending. I feel like most book endings are quick and simple as of late. Burn was the opposite. After the falling action there was still 30 minutes left in the audiobook. Jaster used that time to tie up all the loose ends seamlessly. It was just so refreshing to have a longer end.

There were two things I really disliked. One was the smut and plot were severely imbalanced. When the smut happened it was back to back to back, chapter after chapter, and I just wanted the plot. I think the amount of smut could have been okay if it was more spaced out throughout the novel. As is, I found myself losing interest and needing to skip through it. The last thing I disliked was the resolution of the conflict. After everything it felt a little lackluster. Parts of it made me angry and I wanted vengeance but because that "isn't Autumn's way" it was all forgive and forget? There were aspects of the resolution I did like, but that part left me frustrated.

I'm not ready to say goodbye but I am so excited to continue on in this world and get to know the new MCs. This series has already been an incredible adventure and I can't wait to read more. I can't recommend The Foolish Kingdoms/Dark Seasons series enough!

I sobbed like a baby when I finished Burn . I couldn’t help it.

Certain things that I had been hoping for and wondering about since the original series ended were answered in the most Poet and Briar way. Burn was an absolute perfect way to sort of end the books that are from Briar and Poet’s point of view.

And the threads that Jaster tugged onto both allude to the new books while also tying all the books in a better way than what it had been previously !

Listen, , Foolish Kingdoms was one of my favorite new adult romantasy series originally. with this new rewrite, it’s become even more so. The shear amount of chemistry, not just between our heroes but between all the cast of characters ! It was so much.

The growth and change that we physically see in Aire and Cadence and Eliot. It’s so impressive. Talking about the chemistry, Poet and Briar had, if I’m not mistaken, double digit smexy scenes and each of those lasted several chapters. It was never gratuitous 😈. Lol. It’s a lot and it’s so perfect and it was so hot and Poet was so sexy and Briar really grew into her own and wow.

It’s just… It was so well written and just perfect. Legit, it is the best one yet. Jaster keeps getting better and better. I’m breaking one of my rules and buying the series before it’s done . Burn also tied up loose ends that were left hanging in the original series while putting in new ribbons for readers to follow to the rest of the series. It was absolutely seamless and I absolutely loved it.
