just the typical alpha-douche-hole who loves to swing his dick around like it’s a goddam yo-yo falling in love with the angelic, virginal southern Belle with zero self-respect, who releases breaths she didn’t realise she was holding.

you want to read about the double standard in a plethora of variations? read this book🥳

and two white frat boy, dude-bros constantly calling each other “brother” should be a fucking hate crime. please stop it. we get it, you’re besties. wear friendship bracelets or have a secret handshake, or slap each other on the arse, bcos there is only so many goddam times i can read the word “brother” used unironically without me wanting to bleach my eyeballs.

this is everythingggggg i wanted in a brother's best friend romance! start to finish it was the perfect pace, you could feel the budding tension when things started to shift between them now that they're in college together away from her brother. you could feel them trying to fight it, and then ultimately giving in. no 3rd act break up which i loved! despite their dynamic, it ended up being low drama within the relationship and i just adored them.

idk why i didn’t like this one AT ALL. so many things annoyed me.

first of all the way that both gigi and gray pretended they didn’t have feelings but then we’re always rushing into it and then somehow they’re in love!? honestly it was so fast half the book was so unnecessary. I LOST MY SHIT WHEN THE GUYS KEPT CALLING EACH OTHER BEOTHER. like STOP NO ONE ACTUALLY DOES THAT. it pissed me off so much

I loved Gray so much! He was a tortured hero, he spend so much time trying to prove he was not his father that he ended up picking up some of his bad habits anyway. I love that he chose to kick some bad habits and focus. I like that LP explored his inner bottle to change, how hard it was, but also how good he felt. It was relatable and made you root for Gray even more! He needed to learn to love himself and somebody to love him back.

Gigi had a quiet confidence and a funny little position in all of her “groups.” I chuckled at how Gray and Cade talked about her even if she could hear. I loved how Coco popped up every time she got dressed up to give advice. She was very obviously, genuinely loved by a lot of people, which made her and Gray that much more interesting. Even in moments of shyness, she had a quiet confidence and was secure enough in herself that she could pour into Gray effortlessly. They had great contrast, and I really loved their story!

3.5 🌟

Why do authors make men so overly possessive and controlling about their sisters? Don’t get me wrong I enjoy reading it bc I live for toxic drama. But does that actually happen to people? I grew up with 2 brothers and they did not gaf what I did 😂

The first book for this series was really good, then this one was good and I was excited for Gigi to get a stand alone. But the problem is this one didn’t give enough attention to the side characters. If you’re you to do spin off stand alones you need to make us like those characters as side characters. But these people barely existed. Just names used every now and then.

so anyway, I’m probably done with this series for now. Maybe I’ll go back to it later if I’m in a slump bc I know the authors a good writer.

OVERALL REVIEW & RATING: 4 STARS

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 4 STARS

I enjoyed listening to Virgina Rose’s narration, but I have to be honest and say that Lee Samuels takes some getting used to with his narrations. This is not my first audio narrated by him and it seems to be a pattern with him, so I was ready for it this time, but it still needs to be said. He comes off as more reading than narrating and it can be off-putting. And that’s the story on how the narration of this story lost a star!

STORY REVIEW & RATING: 4 STARS

FULL DISCLOSURE: The whole *best friend’s sibling* angle in a story makes me all kinds of #twitchy but not so much that I won’t read it. See, I just don’t get it. For me, or rather, in my world, I’m an adult, and as an adult, I make my own decisions about who I allow into my life intimately. My siblings don’t get a say so, at all. You wanna know why? Because we aren’t kids, and this isn’t middle school or even high school, and the best friend’s sibling trope just doesn’t ring true for me among grown people. This trope is always going to be a hit-or-miss for me and I never know which until I read (in this case listen) the story. Gray’s incessant thoughts about Gigi being forbidden because she was his best friend’s sister were borderline neurotic and that’s the story of how Tangled lost a star. *shrug*

Now, about the rest of this captivating, push/pull journey between Gray and Gigi. I enjoyed myself (aside from the above-mentioned twitchiness) very much while listening this story. It flowed beautifully and it captivated me to the point that I found myself listening thru an entire workday! Gigi stole the show for me, but I honestly loved everyone in this story. I can’t believe no one has ever put this author on my radar before this! The story had just the right amount on angst without taking it to the darkside and every side character and plot-point made sense and moved the story forward. I’m looking forward to continuing with this series and maybe even reading some of her backlist very soon!

I love this book! A funny yet emotional new adult/coming of age brother’s best friend romance that is sweet, sexy, and full of feels.

This is the second book in the Willow Springs series, but can easily be read as a standalone. Gigi is one of five best friends who make up the core of this series, and she and Gray appeared in the last book, and despite their animosity towards each other, it was clear that there was more going on. Their story was everything I was hoping for.

Gigi grew up with Gray as a part of her life. He is the best friend of her older brother, Cade, and due to his own rocky home life, he spent the majority of his time at her home as a part of the family. For years they have fought and bickered, and now Gigi is all grown up and off to the same college as Gray, and when overprotective Cade asks Gray to look out for his little sister, he throws himself into the role of fierce protector… a little too overzealously perhaps.

“Trust me when I tell you that you don’t want to mess with that dude. I won’t allow it,” he said,
leaning closer so his breath tickled my cheeks.
Is he for real?
I gasped in dramatic fashion. Coco would be proud. “You won’t allow it? You did not just say that.” The nerve. “Are you serious?”
“Dead fucking serious, G.” He stormed across the room as I followed him with my eyes. He talked to a guy in the band, and the music stopped.
What the hell was he doing?
“Listen up. You see this girl here?” he shouted, and everyone turned as he made his way over to me and palmed the top of my head like a freaking lunatic. “If you so much as hit on this girl, I’ll punch you in the fucking face. Are we clear?”

LMAO!

But there is more to Gray’s protectiveness than just doing a favour for his best friend. He has feelings for Gigi – big ones. He’s just never acted on them. Not only because Cade would lose his mind, but because Gray has a well-deserved reputation as a player, he’s never had a relationship, and he knows that Gigi deserves better.

I’d always had to remind myself that she was off-limits, but lately, I was feeling things I knew I shouldn’t. And bickering with Gigi Jacobs had become better than sex with anyone else.
How messed up was that?

Gigi’s never had a relationship either and is keen to explore all that college and its social opportunities have to offer. Sure, she’d love to explore all of that with Gray, but she knows he would never go there with her. But being so close to each other creates the perfect opportunity for all of their feelings to intensity, and we get this delicious situation where they both want each other, they admit it to each other, but they can’t (won’t) be together. It brings the emotion, and creates a wonderful sense of anticipation as they dance around each other, Gray makes a claim without making a claim, they tease and banter, and there are steamy moments when it all becomes too much, but they still keep their distance. And the reader is there madly flipping pages just waiting for it all to implode.

“I’m not a one-night hook-up.”
His hand cradled my cheek and his thumb stroked me there. “I’m very aware of who you are, G.”

I love these characters. Gray has had a bit of a wild life, but he’s straightening out and really finding himself. He’s got a huge heart, and he cares deeply for the people in his life, and his journey throughout this book is beautifully written. I felt so much for him, and I adored his story. And Gigi is a fantastically strong heroine. She’s funny and feisty, she knows what she wants, and she goes for it, and I so admire her. She’s perfect for Gray – standing up for herself and not allowing him to walk all over her, pushing him out of his comfort zone when he needs it, and fully supporting and encouraging him. They match perfectly, and watching them come together is so gorgeous.

“I’m in a whole lot of trouble with you and I don’t know what to do about it. It scares the shit out of me.”
“What kind of trouble?” Her lips grazed mine as she spoke, and her fingers were tangled in my hair.
When did that happen?
“I’m in fucking love with my best friend’s little sister, and she’s too good for me.”

Their relationship is sweet, passionate, and deeply emotional. Their feelings for each other are so strong and when they finally find their way to each other, it’s a beautiful romance. They are all-in, and they hold nothing back from each other, and I loved seeing them together.

“I’ve been fighting this—because I don’t want to fuck it up. And there’s a very good chance that I will. But I’m willing to try.”

But they still have challenges to face, and the feels are intense in the later part of the book when drama unfolds. It’s handled well though, with no angst, and it shows the strength of Gray and Gigi as a couple, which I really appreciated

I loved this book. It made me laugh and made me feel, and I fell in love with these characters and their story. The set-ups continue for the remaining three of the girls to have their stories told, and I’m excited for Maura’s up next.

Such a great read, I’m loving this series!

If you follow my reviews, then you know how in love I am with the brothers best friend trope. It's the very best in the romance genre, and if I could read just that one trope forever, I would. So when this author announced that she was writing this, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! And even though I did enjoy most of it, I just wish there was MORE. There was that push and pull between Gigi and Gray, but after a bit it just became so repetitive -- they would get close, and then Gray would push her away, all in the sake of not wanting to lose his friendship with her brother, not caring what it was doing to Gigi. I just wish he would have stood his ground more and realized that Gig was worth fighting for, and just making up his mind in the first place that she was who he wanted.

I wish Gigi would have pushed him more, too. She seemed ok to just let him call all the shots in the relationship-- when they would hook up, when they could touch, when they would do anything, and then when he wanted to put a pause on it yet again, he did, not even giving her a voice in the matter. I get that she really loved him, and she knew they would be together once it was all said and done.. but I just wish she had more fire/backbone too.

Overall this was a decent read, but not my favorite by this author.

Tangled is book #2 in Laura Pavlov’s Willow Spring Series. This is a brothers best friend love story between Gigi and Gray and their story captivated me from the very first page. It was so much more than I could have expected after finishing Frayed.

Gigi is my kinda girl! She is sweet and charming but also fiery and strong willed. She loves so big. She is studying art in school and has a beautiful creative soul. She has a fantastic supportive family and is close with brother and parents.

Gigi and her girl gang with the Magic Willows are so special. I adored meeting them in Frayed and even though they were separated in different cities now that they are off at different colleges/universities they kept up with their weekly meets through FaceTime and on holidays. This group is such a supportive bunch.

Gray is all that you would imagine to be and more. He is super protective of Gigi and the way this boy fights his feelings for his best buds little sister. Total swoon. He loved Gigi for so long. Much longer than he was even willing to admit. You could see it in his every interaction with her and I ate it up!

What blew me away in this book was the emotional journey it takes you on. Gray has always had a family within Gigi’s family but never from his own. His father battles addiction and his mom and step dad have twin girls that they have focused on. My heart broke for him and all he went through growing up and despite never feeling supported in his family he has grown into his own. Having said this the level of growth from beginning to end in this family is what I loved most. It is so well written.

This world Laura Pavlov has created in Willow Springs is just fabulous. I adore the friendships, the family, the love of this small town and cannot get enough. I cannot wait to read Charmed, coming in August!

Just adorable! Tangled is chock full of sexy and swoony charm. I just love this charming and heartfelt series and its endearing take on that new adult coming of age first love.

In this second book, we’re treated to an angsty brother’s best friend romance between Gray and Gigi. Gigi finds herself under the overprotective wing of Gary, her brother’s best friend, when they both end up at the same college- only Gray’s protective instincts turn out to not be entirely platonic, much to the delight of Gigi who has long since crushed on her brother’s childhood best friend. But are they willing to risk Gray’s lifelong friendship with her brother, or their own sweet, but angsty friendship.

I loved Gigi-she just loves so openly and authentically. And, despite her endearing vulnerability and soft heart, she’s also surprisingly strong willed. She knows what she wants- and she isn’t scared to pursue it. She’s such a refreshingly emotionally transparent heroine- her sincerity was so endearing, and I found her so incredibly likable straight away. Gray took longer for me to warm up- at first he’s just so bro-tastic, the classic fratty playboy who is most definitely a bit over the top and frustratingly (but also humorously) destructive when it comes to his protectiveness over Gigi- but he also pushes her away with equal zeal. But when we get to the sweetheart underneath that fratboy exterior, he is just a big squishy wounded guy. He’s got some baggage underneath his devil-may-care facade, and we find a sweet, compassionate, and very loving and loyal man- one with a surprising amount of vulnerability and soul.

The chemistry here is a slow burn push-pull- Gray is scared to destroy his relationship with Gigi’s brother, but he also suffers from a deepset inferiority complex that creates another obstacle between him and his feelings for Gigi. We have a lot of sexual tension, some fun and witty banter, and some really sweet and swoony moments too. The second half of this story I just adored- because we get to see the REAL Gray, and Laura so beautifully unravels their emotional tensions and creates a chemistry that feels emotionally complex and so unshakeable. Despite all their misgivings and back and forth, together they are just adorable.

I also loved the use of secondary characters- Cade (Gigi’s brother), their families, and most especially the best darn girl gang ever. The Willow Springs girls are just such a wonderfully crafted friend group-their chemistry and familial love and affection are so great they rival our leading couples’- and I just adore each and every one of them. The authentic love and care they show for each other, the way they lovingly and gently push and challenge each other is just so endearing- a loving and sincere depiction of female camaraderie is actually quite rare in romance land, and I love all the girl power!

I’m just loving this series- it gives me all the happy, swoony feels and each book leaves me smiling and energized. I can’t wait for what is next!

Genre Small Town | Brother’s Best Friend | College Romance

Review Snapshot : I adore Laura Pavlov’s stories. She mixes the right amount of heat and charm, and the swoon factor is on point! Gigi and Grey stole my heart with their hard-earned love story and I’m looking forward to the next installment.

︙︙︙︙︙︙︙︙︙

It’s no secret that Frayed has been one of my favorite books this year (make sure to read it if you haven’t yet!). So, when I saw that Laura was writing another book (and even more in the series) I was ecstatic! Grey and Gigi’s story is a wonderful addition to the series. Their love/hate relationship had enough angst to make it seem hard but not too much that its envelopes the story. Their relationship is also a bit forbidden as it’s a brother’s best friend romance. Grey is loyal to a fault and constantly goes back and forth on whether him and Gigi SHOULD be together because he cares so much for her brother; this loyalty, while extremely endearing to us readers, was almost his downfall. Thankfully, Gigi didn’t take his crap and wouldn’t allow him to wallow and go back and forth with his feelings; she’s loyal too but she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask for it! I appreciated this so much. I hate when authors write their female leads as doormats and this simply isn’t the case here.

So why did I give this one 4 stars? I think being inside Grey’s head was great and all, but the constant thoughts about her being “forbidden” because she’s his “best friend’s sister” got really annoying. I got it the first few times it was said I didn’t need it repeated another 50 times. It makes it feel forced when in reality the story should have felt more authentic. Another reason why is because I simply didn’t care for the side story about his dad. Sure, I appreciate that addiction was included in the story but there was already so much more going on that it felt misplaced. Especially at the end when those wannabe gangsters kidnapped his dad… It was a little much for me. Had this been a major part of the plot (in terms of Grey’s childhood being screwed up, without the added pieces of Simon and his mother) then it would have felt more realistic. In some ways it feels like it was too much drama on top of all the other drama that was going on.

In any event, I love Laura’s stories and this one was a nice addition to the series. I am REALLY looking forward to the next book! It’s so fun to watch all these friends find their own love and happiness while the others are there for them.

Tangled is the second book in Laura's Willow Springs series, a series that follows 5 best friends from a small town on their journey to finding love.

This second interconnected standalone follows Gigi and her brother's best friend, Gray, when they find themselves attending the same college. Getting to spend so much time together and having Gray looking out for her and annoying her to no end has them both quickly realizing that she's not just Cade's little sister. They soon realize that they both always had a crush on each other, so secret they themselves weren't aware of.

Gray and Gigi were super fun to read about. You can expect all the tension and anger that comes with an overprotective guy trying to look out for his bff's sister and also trying to keeping all the guys away, the building sexual tension these moments create and all the angst of falling in love with your brother's bff who is too afraid of what your brother will do to give you a chance (at first at least).

I really adored these two. Their journey was everything. I loved their little moments alone and how it slowly builds into more between them. There was so much to both these characters beyond the romance, especially Gray. It was IMPOSSIBLE not to fall in love with the guy who was always there for everyone else while he hid his own pain. My heart hurt for him and the relationships he had with his family. I'm so glad we saw progress when it came to those situations in the end .

Once again Laura gave us an amazing, angsty, and heartfelt story with two very lovable characters. I fell more in love with the Magic Willows and cannot wait to read all the remaining books, Laura got me so darn excited for the rest of the girl's stories! And I loved to see Addy and Jett so much.

💵Brother's Best Friend
💵Small-Town Romance
.
"Gigi Jacobs was my weak spot. My blind spot. My heart."
.
Review: This is book 2 in the Willow Spring series about 5 girls who have been best friends since they were young. I was so excited with the Brother's Best Friend trope. I devoured this book just like Frayed and did not want to put it down. It consumed me and I hated when life got in the way!
.
Gigi is a strong girl who knows what she wants. She is sweet, loves hard and will do anything for those she loves.
.
Gray is an unapologetic player and the new Fraternity President. He has big plans to go to Law School just like his father.
.
Gray has been best friends with Cade, Gigi's brother since they were little. When Gray and Gigi end up at the same college, Cade asks Gray to look after his sister.

“You need to stay in your own lane.”
“I’ve always liked your lane better,” he said with a smirk.

Gray's favorite past time is to annoy Gigi, so he has no problem fulfilling his obligation. Only then do lines start to blur and boundaries start to get crossed. I loved these two. They bicker so much and it is so funny to watch. They're both fighting their feelings and you can't help but want to push them together. It's a slow burn with all the angst, but once they give in to their feelings it's magic. I love the transformation Gray goes through. He is just so protective and loving. Jealous Gray was 🥵 and so swoon worthy!🤤 I loved watching Gigi fight for what she wants. Gigi gives Gray what he has been missing all his life and it's so beautiful to watch. Gray is such a good guy deep down and he never gives up on those he loves. The playboy with a heart of gold has found his forever. I loved seeing more of Addy and Jett. Excited for Maura next in Charmed!!!

"You're my addiction, Gigi Jacobs."

Wow what a sweet and sassy brother's best friend college romance! This is the second book in the Willow Springs series and introduces us to Gray and Gigi. While Gray is best friend's with Gigi's brother Cade, when Gigi ends up at the same college as Gray, the sparks start flying and we get an amazing slow burn college romance. Gray totally stole my heart as I loved how protective and loyal he was- he was a fantastic book boyfriend! And Gigi was such a fun heroine as she knew what she wanted and was able to push Gray outside of his comfort zone. I just loved their banter as they attempted to resist each other and their chemistry once they finally got together. And the supporting characters and family dynamics were all so well written especially the relationship between Gray and his father. This is a perfect summer read that I highly recommend!

"Cradle to grave"

Gigi and Grant have been together forever, yes they never ever got along and their favorite hobby is to piss the other off but this time their heart betrays them. They have realized that they are it for each other. This isn’t possible because they keep their feelings to themselves. Grant pushes every guy out of Gigi’s life and the player hasn’t been with anyone nor drank one sip of alcohol and the only reason is GIGI, his best friend’s little sister who he has vowed to protect.

Gigi’s choice of men was seriously not good until Grant. They were perfect together. He wouldn’t shut up and she wouldn’t listen. They knew each other's mess yet loved every bit of each other. Their relationship needs a heads up by one person, Cade who will definitely disagree but they are willing to fight it all. They both were ready to fight for their love with anyone.

Grant stole my heart because he was so strong and was always there for his people. The way he loved every person in his life especially Gigi and Cade. I respected this man in every way. I was so glad Grant had the Jacobs ( Gigi and Grant's family)who he could lean on. He deserved all the love he got!
Gigi was a strong head, she never listened to what she was told. She fought for what was right always.

The second half of the book was full of surprises. It was good to see Simon and Cade in a different form altogether. The ending was perfect for them.
I received an ARC for this book. I am leaving a voluntary review and this review is based on my own thoughts and feelings.

Tangled gave me all the things I love about this author. Not only was it well written with thoroughly developed characters, it was also funny and sexy with tons of heart.
I was hooked from the very first page. There was something about Gigi and Gray that pressed all my swoony buttons.

I loved the relationship between Gigi and Gray and I thought they were just adorable together. They didn’t have the easiest time getting together, but the journey was so sweet that I enjoyed every moment, even the angsty ones. There was something about the banter, hot and sexy chemistry and lifelong bond that I loved about them.

There was definitely more than meets the eyes with these two and this author does a fantastic job delving deep into their hearts and giving us a story that will make you laugh, swoon and ultimately melt. Laura Pavlov has this quality in her writing- it’s like once you pick up a book by her, you don’t want to put it down. This book was entertaining. It was easy to read and get lost in Gigi and Gray’s story. I loved that this story made me laugh, smile, and swoon. It was such a great read. I absolutely adore the series and I can’t wait for the next book.

This one was better than the first!
Brother's best friend at it's finest!

I still think that the author should revisit this series and include more steamy scenes on it, cause the angst and the chemistry was there... Just waiting for the explosion!

I swear over half my book boyfriends come from Laura’s books!!! She has such a way of creating these characters that we all want to be and be with!!! Grey (just the name is swoon worthy enough) was a good amount broken without being a total ass. (I love them broken!!) and Gigi was the perfect female to help him along!! I loved this book. It made me tear up and gave me butterflies. Sigh. I wish I was a fictional character.

Tangled is book 2 in the Willow Springs series. It can be read as a standalone but the couple and their dynamic is hinted at in book 1 so I highly recommend reading Frayed first.

Gigi and Gray's story is a new adult, brothers best friend, forbidden/secret romance. It has an atomospheric small town feel to it and is fun, flirty, drama filled with a lot of heart. These young characters deal with a lot yet the book still has a youthful lightness to it. Just like in the first book it involves a great friend group dynamic with well written character growth. I'm really enjoying this series so far and can't wait to see where it goes next.

Loved it

I have read this series out of order and am loving it.
This series starts with all 5 friends in their last year of high school until they graduate from college.
This is book #2 ,and Gray and Gigi's story. The trope is a favorite of mine, best friend's little sister and enemies to lovers.
This is college age romance, and this is a genre that I have never read before mainly because of how young the mc's are.But you know what? This author makes it work for me and without fan girling too much I have to say....I loved this couple so much, they were each other's half to make a whole.
I recently discovered this author and her small town romances and have fallen in love with her small town, the relationships between the characters and their best friends, and how each story is a progression to the next that I can't wait to read about the next couple.
As I said earlier,I have read this series completely out of order, and you can,so I know about their long tern HEA which was amazing!

This was a slow building, charming, wonderful, and delightful read. Plus for the angst! It had me smiling and feeling and caring and hoping and wanting a HEA for Gray and Gigi.

I couldn't put it down, this author had me in the palm of her hands. How she always manages to keep my interest and get me all worked up and I forget to breathe and ... Reading her book is simply having a magical moment. I loved the dramatic and unique part of Gray's life. And I loved the sassiness of Gigi. The plot gave their story credibility, depth and a bit of a humor. Because banter (woohoo)!

I really hope that the rest of the series is this funny and romantic and sweet and infuriating. My emotions were really all over the place with Tangled and I wouldn't have it any other way. Such a great book and so much more than the blurb leads you to believe.

Another great book in the Willow Springs series! I was hooked from the very beginning! This was a one sitting read! Once again you have serious topics sprinkled with enough humor to get you through! I loved Gray and Gigi so much! Their chemistry and banter was off the charts! I didn’t want this one to end! Although this one did get me excited for the next book! Can’t wait! I would absolutely recommend this book!!

I've got this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book....ugh, this book was a rollercoaster in the best way possible!

Our girl named Gigi has an older brother and he was a bestfriend named Gray...after years of teasing each other and throwing insults they realise that there might be more than just hate between them, but it ain't easy to act upon it as her brother and something more is against them. Will they be able to work this out or will they walk the other way torn apart?

Emotional rollercoaster this was! Once I dived in I couldn't get properly out! The whole dynamic duo was unexpected. I loved there bickering a lot and when they had time to settle for two seconds it was funny as hell.

We saw sides of them that every real human has to go through and partially it also reminded me of my relationship with my own father. Gray is such a strong character and his heart is where it should be! I hated seeing him hurt or conflicted, but at the same time I loved to see how he got out of the situation.

Loved seeing new and old relationships form as well as older ones becoming new!

One specific part of the book got me to tears! It was emotional, not only because of the way it was written but because of what both of the characters have been through and how they changed.

Also I really love how Laura Pavlov named this and previous books! Frayed and Tangled...although to be honest Frayed as with the name is closer to my heart and especially since Jett (a character from Frayed) said that: "We're all frayed"...it doesn't sound very special, but in the context it holds so much!

Either way I'm very thankful for being able to read this book!
