A baker who sees the dead. One too many suitors. And a killer. Living in Honey Hollow can be murder.
A Cruising Through Midlife CROSSOVER!
*A laugh out loud standalone cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore* All books in the series can be read individually, so dive on in! ***Includes RECIPE***
My name is Lottie Lemon, and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, who have come back from the other side to warn me of their previous owner’s impending doom.
The grand dame of Leeds County has passed away and her friends and family are throwing a going away party—aka funeral—of the ages. Everyone is invited to the swanky soiree but Carlotta’s invitation seems to have gotten lost in the mail. Lucky for her, I’m catering the event, and I begrudgingly let her tag along as my assistant. But the funeral goes awry when a killer shows up on the scene.
And what’s better than one Everett Baxter? Two. Everett’s cousin Ransom is in town to help out with Everett’s new legal woes. And he brings along his girlfriend, Trixie Troublefield, and their friends, Bess and Nettie. You can bet your last dollar that Carlotta, Bess, and Nettie stir up enough trouble to land in a few legal woes of their own.
Lottie Lemon has a brand new bakery to tend to, a budding romance with perhaps one too many suitors, and she has the supernatural ability to see the dead—which are always harbingers for ominous things to come. Throw in a string of murders, and her insatiable thirst for justice, and you’ll have more chaos than you know what to do with.

I've invested time in the first 43 books so stands to reason I'd read #44 it's getting tedious tho and I'm really hoping that Carlotta doesn't get carried over to the cruise ship series I've started reading.. She really needs to go away.
So confusing. I was reading the cruise series, and to the chronological, I choose to read this. Its so confusing, and maybe this why it was so hard to read it to the end.
Lottie and her new friend, Trixie, team up to solve the latest murder. When at a funeral, they discover another dead body. Lottie then sets out, with the help of Trixie, to find out who did the deed. They go through some suspects, but soon discover who really was behind it. It was the usual dysfunction of Lottie still holding on to both Noah and Everett with both hands. She also doesn't kick Carlotta out, which is a shame. Carlotta doesn't bring much joy to Lottie so I don't know why she keeps her around. I also don't understand why Everett and Noah didn't just come out and ask Evie what was going on. As usual, there is a lack of communication with all parties in this book. Everyone jumps to conclusions. It comes off as all of them being bumbling, stumbling caricatures. I did like the mystery but would have liked to know what Lottie knew about the back room.
Last Rites Beignets Bites is the forty-forth book in the Murder in the Mix series. Each story in this series builds on the previous story so I would suggest reading them in order to get the most out of it. But if you choose to start here they are written in a way where you could read them as a stand alone and not be to lost. Lemon has a gift of seeing dead animal of those who will experience back luck soon, but lately deadly luck. Like all the books in this series, when Lottie sees a ghostly animal she knows death is soon to follow. There is a lot going on in this book so you won’t have time to get bored. More of Carlotta craziness. More of Everett and an almost identical looking cousins. Double the crime solving brains as Lottie makes a new friend with an out of town visitor. And who can for get murder, more murder to solve in this little town.
Lottie is on hand again when there is a murder. She is determined to solve this case but also Everett's as well. Lottie will have help from Everett's cousins girlfriend. Lottie is also trying to solve Everett's latest legal entanglement as well.
This was a good read. You will see Noah make a decision that you will see him in a new light. Everett also has to live with the decisions made. That is all I can say, I am not going to spoil the book for anyone.

Addison Moore has added another great crossover to the Murder-in-the-Mix series! Some of the Cruising Through Midlife gang has come to Honey Hollow. Everett's cousin, Ransom has set the ladies' hearts into double-time, while Trixie, Nettie, and Bess have teamed up with Lottie to catch a killer. Add Carlotta to the mix, and let the shenanigans begin! Lottie is doing her best to solve several deaths, but Everett and Noah are keeping something from her. Will Lottie and the collective group find the killer, or will they be the next ones on the killer's list? Dive in to find out!
I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Yes it was the same plot as the last like 40 books, but it seemed that( hopefully) the author read our comments about the writing. Instead of most of the book reiterating the same things explaining the basic points, she touched on them but kind of spread them throughout the book, and not with the drawn out explanations. They were to the point. So there was a lot more story. I hope she keeps with this, and that the books keep getting better from here on out.
You'd think I'd get sick of this series, but after 44 books it's still fun to read. The characters change and evolve at a good pace, the plots run at a good speed, the story doesn't get stagnant, and there's always a surprise waiting for you within the pages of a M.I.T.M. story. The author continues to entertain with this series and I look forward to seeing what happens next in the lives of the Honey Hollow residents.
I am never disappointed when I pick up a Murder in the Mix book. I have read every book in this series and I have loved them all! If you like a good cozy murder mystery with some humor mixed in that will also get you in your feelings this series is for you. I especially enjoyed this book because it crosses over several characters from other series and that is always a fun time!!.

Another great Lottie and gang adventure. It was such a great read. It kept me guessing throughout the book. It was nice to see the crossover with another of Addison's series. I was hooking from the first sentence to the last. Had a hard time putting it down. Can't wait to see where the gang goes from here.

Well if you have read any other book in this series you know that you have to keep going till it ends. This is the longest series of books that I’ve ever read. But every one of them will beg you to continue to the next book. It’s a page turner and book turner too. Happily satisfied
Book 44 Murder in the Mix, Last Rites Beignet Bites
This one Carlotta is way over the but lands herself another hot business. Two deaths. One is murder the other a surprise. Lots of involvement with the teenagers. And another adventure to protect the children of the town, a very risky proposition.
Some guests from a cruise ship (characters from the cruise series, one of them transmundane and another a cousin of Everett) visit. A murder at a funeral brings up issues, including a drug ring.
Love the twists and turns and the new series revolving around Trixie, Ransom Handsome, the Captain (another Everett and Noah duo), and of course Bess and Nettie. Gotta go now and catch the next in both series.
Lottie Lemon is back and she got a new murder mystery to solve. This time she also has a side mystery of Everett's legal issues. Always excited for more in this series.
Those women haven’t said a kind word yet!!! However, who killed Rosa Rizzo and Ninetta and why??? Thank you, Russo, for all your help!!! I enjoyed this story and recommend the book.
Loved this book! Besides the regular Honey Hollow cast of characters, Trixie, Ransom, Nettie, and Bess from the Cruising Through Midlife series are visiting Lottie and the gang! Needless to say, craziness and hilarity ensue. First, Lottie mistakes Ransom for Everett at a funeral by giving him a big kiss. She had no idea that Everett had a cousin that looked virtually identical to him! Next, there's a murder at the funeral. It's a crazy mess with a lot of suspects. Lottie and Trixie are trying to figure out who the murderer is before Trixie has to head back to the ship with Ransom and her friends. They have lots of hits and lots of misses. Can they solve the crime in time?
