Gabriel Wolfe #14

Seven Seconds

Rate this book
Rage...grief...betrayal...vengeance

A ferocious, bloody firefight on a remote Scottish island scorched Gabriel Wolfe’s soul to cinders. It left him a broken man, consumed by rage against his unseen enemies. Now he holds two lives in his hands. His own. And that of the woman who betrayed everything he ever held dear. Everything he ever believed in. Everything he ever loved.

Vengeance used to mean something to him. But now he sees it is a hollow trophy. He wants Margot McDonnell to pay the ultimate price for her crimes. But deep down, in the dark, screaming places he struggles to avoid in his nightmares, he knows it will do no good. What’s done is done. What’s past is past. And what is lost. Is lost.

He has already given away his cars. Settled his affairs. Prepared for what comes next. Before him, the components of a powerful bomb. He assembles it. Tests the detonator. Carries it out to the boat. And sets sail for one final trip.

This is the outcome some very powerful people have been praying for. The end of Gabriel Wolfe. With him dead, they are free at last. As he waves to some children playing on the beach, he sets the timer for seven seconds.

Readers’ opinions of other books in this best-selling series

“Would recommend this to all people who enjoy the idea of having "heroes" in our midst without all the hype.”
David James Frearson

“I’m a avid fan of Child, Patterson and the like - but the number of good thrillers in existence is finite, so I'm constantly on the hunt for the 'Next Big Thing' (author-wise)... And I've found him. Andy Maslen's first book, ‘Trigger Point’ is and this one is even better. Brilliant stuff - I'm hooked, and I like it.”
Dr S Lewis

“Love the vulnerability of the lead character and the continuing relationships with others from the first book. Now going for book three!”
Terry Maywood

The fourteenth book in an enthralling series

This fast-paced, thriller is packed full of break-neck action. Be prepared to lose sleep as you promise yourself ‘just one more chapter’.

A hero like no other

Readers have compared Wolfe to other familiar action heroes. Jack Reacher. John Milton. Ben Hope. Spider Shepherd. Mitch Rapp. But in truth he is his own man.

He's no super-soldier or indestructible man-mountain. If he's shot, he bleeds ... and he hurts. His PTSD, which he battles along with his country’s enemies, gives his missions a sharper edge.

But make no mistake. Wolfe is a good man to have on your side in a tight spot. And he always finds time to help those in trouble, whether or not they are paying for his services.

Revenge, at last

Reeling from the events of Brass Vows, Gabriel Wolfe decides to end things in spectacular fashion, blowing himself up on a boat. Except he's only faked his death, regrouping to Honduras to figure out how to get back at those who killed his mentor, his wife, and his chance at a happy life.

At this point, Maslen knows full well we're here for the action, and he packs thick slabs of it on every page. There are pulse-pounding shootouts, close quarters, no-holds barred fighting, and gut-wrenching gore, all cleverly interspersed with scenes that showcase Wolfe's increasingly fragile psyche as he wrestles with the emotional toll of what he's been through.

An unputdownable book that won't disappoint long-time fans or newcomers.

The 14th Book of an EXCELLENT Series...Still Going Strong!

Andy Maslen is a serious author, and this series has been one of my favorites since its first release. It takes up following the incidents of the previous book in the series as Gabriel seeks "revenge" for what he has lost.

The plotline is tight, with some twists, and I found it to be great reading.

I highly recommend this book, I do not however recommend reading it as a "standalone", as there is way too much you, as a new reader, will be mystified by. Definitely start this series at its beginning.

Thank you, Andy Maslen, for this latest addition to the "Gariel Wolfe Series".

Confession time. I never wrote a review for the box set I read last. I was so upset and disappointed with the direction the last story took. I couldn't find the words without blasting Mr. Maslen I was so intense. Now this story smoothed out my feelings and let me absorb the characters and excellent writing again. Other than the personal trigger from before I love this series from start to current progress. Mr. Maslen's characters are so engaging and descriptive writing so dramatic I felt I was with Gabriel Wolfe every step of the way.

Gabriel Wolfe cannot accept what has become his life. His wife, Eli, and unborn child were murdered while the assassins were trying to get to him. Faking his death and escaping to Honduras he looks for a peaceful life while waiting for death. But when things start happening, Gabe finds out who really was behind Eli's death and he vows to take them out; at all costs.

Seven Seconds is a great addition to the Gabriel Wolfe Series

The utmost tragedy that can happen to a human occurred to Gabriel Wolfe. He's virtually now lost everything dear to him due to his enemies. It has affected him so much that vengeance no longer seems to be a possibility for him. He's ready to give up on life itself.

You need to read what happens in Andy Maslen's latest book because what happens after Gabriel Wolfe's nightmare is something you do not want to miss.

A Different Approach

Maslen takes a very different approach to the typical assassin thriller - his writing is higher level, more descriptive, beautiful passages written just because. Those looking purely for action may be frustrated by this kind of prose. Also, this isn’t a series you can jump in the middle of - you really need the context of previous books to understand what’s happening.

An amazing finale?

This novel tidies up the loose ends regarding Gabriel and his suffering with the death of Eli. Having relocated to Honduras for certain reasons, no spoilers here, he soon finds trouble again as well as his past literally coming back at him.
The usual fast action we have come to expect from Gabriel as well as some in depth soul searching. This all combined to make for great reading.
The way is still open for Gabriel to come back and I hope he does.

Another great adventure in this outstanding series with Gabriel Wolfe constantly getting into trouble. Very well written storyline with an excellent flawed main character. This fast paced thriller has a good cast of supporting characters with plenty of action, suspense, and several twists and turns. A very enjoyable page turning read that I highly recommend.

I love the whole Gabriel Wolfe series, this new offering takes it to a new plateau. The story line is completely amazing and for one couldn’t put it down! There’s plenty of the qualities that gave all the books that must read, but it also adds even more intrigue and takes us in a new direction! Maslen does it again

A Great Finish.

Glad to find Number Fourteen. After completing the series found another author but left something missing. Author Maslen’s research continues to be the glue that brings the books to the front shelf. Guess I’ll try reading about Stella.

An excellent example of the thriller genre. The authors skill is in making the characters believable and realistic. The mark of a good book is that I was disappointed when I came to the end of the book.
Cannot wait for the next instalment.

Gabriel Wolfe 14#

To gushy to many unrealistic ghosts. I found myself flicking the pages over when Gabriel was talking to Eli and Smudge. I've read all the series but enough is enough.

This book is the best yet, in the Gabriel Wolfe series. This is a fast-paced gripping page turner that has you captured from the start, and it's I'll read one more chapter and then another, and so it goes on, just wanting to know more.
Andy Maslen has a unique, interesting way of writing that totally catches your interest. The storyline and plot are well written and thought out, with strong interesting characters and wonderful descriptive.
I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, so much so that it took me a few days before I could settle down to read another book.
My thanks to the author for the advanced copy of this wonderful book.
This is my honest and unbiased review.

Seven Seconds by Andy Maslen is the latest in the Gabriel Wolfe series and this story is very hard hitting. Gabriel is now alone, Eli and Don are dead killed by the same people who had killed Stella Cole’s husband and child.
He had only been married to Eli a month and now both she and their unborn child were dead and buried on Scalpay. What was there left for Gabriel to live for?
All the loose ends are tied up and finished with, in this latest thriller. There is non stop action throughout and unforeseen events and then the dramatic conclusion to the violence and death.
Highly recommended

After losing his wife and unborn child, Gabriel decides to end it all in a fiery boat explosion. Now that everybody thinks he’s dead (which he isn’t), he decides to track down and kill anyone and everyone that had a hand in the murders. A extremely well written storyline that will make you lose sleep just to see what happens next. With lots of twists and turns, great characters and non stop action this may very well be Andy’s best !
