Potpuno genijalno.
Simply put, the best F4 saga EVER. It delves into their conflicts as a group and shows very effectibly an obsessed, fragile Reed Richards, but also capable of surmounting anything for his family and friends. It also has a meditation on politics, and even an almost faery tale-like ending. And all sticks perfectly.
Great book with an interesting story and artwork. An original storyline with small but compelling twists. The ending... was a bit odd.. maybe unnecessary. The book would be 5* if it had ended on a mora tragic note. Definitely recommended specially for fans of this group of super heroes..
That's four stars as in not five stars, but damn close.
This is the second part of the story arc started in issue 30 of this collection of Marvel's greatest story. I gave the first part 3.5 stars because I didn't think the style of artwork suited the nature of the story. There is no such problem with this part of the story.
In this story we see Reed Richards going all out to once-and-for-all destroy the threat of Dr Doom, despite the fact that Doom has been dragged to Hell. This was a lovely twist on the standard comic book trope of the villains always coming back bigger and stronger and is almost worth the price of admission by itself. However, with a sovereign nation (a member of the UN even) and all Doom's technology up for grabs, things aren't as simple as you might think and Reed Richard's eventual solution to the threat of Doom himself is pretty drastic.
I've held off from giving this book 5 stars because of the ending. The FF have gone through many strange adventures to save one their own in the past and this book is no exception. I'm not sure I like the ending, but it is the sort of ending that only the Fantastic Four could get away with. I'll leave it up to you to decide what you think of it.
Well I should have known better than to continue the story from the previous volume! This one starts off bad and continues to be bad all the way through. Reed Richards is totally out of character for the main part of the story and comes across as a complete dick. The whole thing is one bad idea after another and especially the end of the story when it becomes metafiction with the fantastic four meeting the person drawing them and all the problems they have had are suddenly all made ok with the sweep of the artist's pencil - a little bit too Looney Tunes for my liking.
I had several of the issues previously in paperback volume, but this is it in it's entire story arc and it's one of the most grown up tales I have ever read. A normally subdued thinker Reed is all but driven to see everything that Doom had perish. Politics, war and family play the biggest roles in this drama and played well.
The last part of the story gets a bit..."What dreams may come" but it works rather well.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
