3.5 Stars!

So there were lots of things I loved about this story, and a few things that I didn't...

The story follows Casey, a war veteran who suffered an injury while serving. He struggles after his discharge and grows a strong bond with his friend Dom and his family (who we all know from book 1). In comes Evelyn, a stripper who has dealt with many issues growing up and living a tough life trying to survive for her nephew.

I enjoyed the story itself, and loved the growth we see between Casey and Ev. They heal each other and it's really touching to see despite their issues how they come together and see past everything.
"I will never give up on you, baby," he promised. "Your mine, and I fully intend to capitalize on that every chance I get."

Eva was your typical martyr who preferred to suffer in silence which I wasn't a fan of, also I would have liked if Casey was a bit more alpha, he seemed pretty blasé about their relationship at times. I understand he was dealing with his own demons and issues but he constantly seemed to back away from the relationship.

Anyways! It was an overall enjoyable read and I finished it in one sitting. Will definitely be reading the rest of the books in this series as they come out :)

3 Stars Just OK/Good for me

OK, after reading the first book in this series I was beyond excited to get this one but sadly it fell flat for me:( I liked both characters but yet I still found quite a bit "missing" for me to truly invest in their story and their characters. I had a hard time genuinely connecting with them but yet I still adored them as well......

I wasn't so keen on the execution of the storyline itself to begin with. I understand the author introducing us to Case's character and I was fine with that but I felt it got bogged down in Dom's story....was just kinda "boring" for me and because I had read Dom's story awhile back amongst other books, I was not in the absolute "loop" of that storyline...I forgot a lot about it so I felt "lost". It took too long for the main characters to meet up and then when they did even that part was weird.... This is what I mean the execution of their storyline was disappointing for me:(

I hate to be a downer but unfortunately this story just didn't do much for me at all but that's ok because I don't plan on giving up on this author anytime soon. This story was just a minor bump in the road for me and this is only my feelings as I am sure most will love it and that's fine:) Just because it wasn't a great read for me doesn't mean others won't fall in love with it!

~5~ stars for the second installment!!

Emotional, intense, sweet, beautiful... i think these words can perfectly describe the second book of possessed series. This is a story about two broken, lonely people who found the light in their hearts again when the laid eyes on each other.

You'd think that this is another romance story but well i personally don't think that, the author created an amazing plot where our main characters aren't flawless, they have struggled a lot in their lives almost to the point with no return and afterwards you see how they evolving..creating many emotions through out the process.

Both Casey and Evelyn are very lovable, from page one i was sucked in their stories, couldn't get enough of them, besides that the plot isn't if i say simple it has two stories running on background one from the first book with Dom and Deedee but from Casey's point of view (which i really like) and then the beginning of his story.

It has some really interesting, enjoyable dialogues and some really steamy, hot scenes!! Well i'll stop here i don't wanna spoil anything so yeah i totally recommend it and i can't wait for the next story the author will create.

When a KL Donn book is released she moves up my TBR list to IMMEDIATE read! So When I met case I couldn’t help but fall in love with a his Alphatastic and protective love for Evelyn.

Wanna see an example of this perfect OTT alpha? Well I am going to provide one anyways because I need to.

Good God is Case perfection immediately as he says perhaps one of the sexiest lines I have heard an alpha say!

“Maybe if you stopped letting strange fucking men put their hands on you this wouldn’t be a problem.”

description

Then to sweet as hell romantic things like this:

As she began to crumble in his arms, he let go of her hair, leaning forward so his chest was to her back, he whispered in her ear,

“Let go Ev, I’ll catch you.”

description

"I will never give up on you, baby,” he promised.

description

As you can tell I clearly had a thing for Case. From a heroine who is full of strength and bravery to a broken hero who mends his heart, KL Donn delivered the best yet!

One Dance for Case has left me feeling ecstatic. Casey is broken and Evelyn can help complete him. Evelyn has always felt unloved. Casey loves her hardcore. There are some hiccups along the way, but in the end they make it. Alpha, Safe, HEA. A few triggers, but well worth it. Highly recommend! Must Read.

This was such a fascinating and highly emotional read. I loved the MC in this story - Casey and Evie.
Casey, a wounded war veteran with PTSD abandoned by his family, was abandoned by his family when he needed them the most. Evelyn was a young girl left behind by her sister when she aged out of foster care. She never got over that loss and started looking for her sister. She found her later , after she is out of HS and in order to support her sister and young nephew, she is having to work as a stripper. For Evie, dance is her escape. There is a reason dance is her escape and the story behind it is beautiful and sweet.
When Case and Evie meet, it is like electric, powerful and lightning all at once. They , deep down, know they are meant for each other but they are damaged and Case does everything he can to sabotage their relationship- he almost losses her before they even begin. He finally gets his act together and then the roller coaster of a ride begins. There is so much passion, hope, fear, strength, pain, and love all rolled into one in this story. Ev has tons of love to give but she fears giving in and letting Case into her heart for she has been betrayed before and by so many. It hurt me to see this but it was so beautiful to watch them finally let go and let each other in. When they get it right, oh boy, do they get it right. There are many surprises in this story and we get to see Dom and Dee from book #1. There is angst, power plays, drama, and one heck of a surprise toward the end of the book. Hang on to your seat. This was a great and fantastic book and I cannot wait for book 3.

My rating: 4.7 stars ****

Do you ever wonder what it's like to have no one who loves you? To be forced to do things simply because of a situation you couldn't get out of? Eveyln Moore knows these feeling more than anyone. Beat up, raped and just trying to survive, Ev is just looking to escape the hell she lives in everyday.
Casey Risley's hell comes in the form of a prosthetic leg, a drinking problem and PTSD that he can't seem to get through.
These two need each other than either of them are willing to admit. But every time things start to look up, the other shoe drops. Case will do anything to be with Ev, and Ev will do anything to keep those she loves safe. Can they meet somewhere in the middle and finally find their HEA?

KL Donn is one of my favorite authors for one main reason: the shit she writes is so spot on and she gives zero fucks if it's to taboo or real for you. She writes because the words need to be heard. The emotion this woman evokes in a book, the hurt the love the angst and everything in between, is off the charts. Ev and Case belong together, and even though this book is considered instalove, nothing is ever that easy. Prepare for an emotional roller-coaster, for your heart to be torn up and for one of the best love stories yet.

*MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review

Well - what can I say other than I absolutely loved this book. Having read other books by K.L. Donn I have come to love her style so I was eagerly awaiting her next read and was not disappointed. So to break it down...

Overall what I loved about this book, other than the awesome plotline, is that you got snips of each characters history throughout the book and you learnt about each one with the other one (i.e. you would hear from Ev about where he love of dance came from when Case did), though obviously some bits were laid out (for example the beginning of the book was dedicated to us understanding Case's back story). It really made you full in love with the characters as they fell in love - pulling you further into the story.

Now to the characters, Ev - she was a breath of fresh air. Often when someone is as erotic dancer, different authors put different spins on it and it can be hard to image that life and how it came to be (unless you lived that life), but this one I loved because I could really imagine how it happened and Ev wasn't a typical person "tough nut/independent" (though she did have those elements). Rubbish start in life, love of dance, being a pole dancer to support her family. Family is the most important thing to her which I can definitely relate to, and she has a super vulnerable side which I am glad comes across before Case is involved for the reader.

Case - he is not what I expected at all. Well, who wouldn't love him. Knowing immediately about his leg, then his downward spiral into drinking was tough to read. I was heartbroken for him that something this awful could happen to him (and I was only like 3 chapters in) and it felt like he had no support. I just wanted to help him so when Dom came knocking, and he went to help with Dee and Jax, it was great to see what I would consider the real Case. When he then met Ev and immediately knew she was his everything, I about melted into my seat. That intensity was really well written and I could really feel it. Ev was one lucky girl. The scene when he is on the roof top with her, OMG - wanted to cry and the romance.

I guess to conclude, the storyline - I loved it. What I enjoyed about this one, and is different from your typical rom-coms, is there is no twist that breaks them up, it is great actually as rather than me thinking "who is going to mess up and how will they get back together before the end of the book", I got to enjoy the supportive nature of a relationship, Case helping Ev though the tough time with her sister, Andy and Marcus; Ev helping Case with his nightmares, Case support Ev in her love of dancing even though he was uncomfortable with his - all of this to me is what a real relationship is, and it was nice that someone wrote this without the need for a huge break-up scene. You could just love the characters and their story.

The only criticism I have about the story is that I would have like it to go on a little bit more; the end "one month on" I would have liked to see maybe how Ev's sister comes along with rehab, how Ev/Case get on with the pregnancy/being parents, what Job does Ev do or does she continue to dance - and what does Case do for a regular job or does he have money saved... perhaps another book??

“The way I feel for you is unlike anything I’ve ever known. As corny as it sounds, you complete me. Without you I was hurting, I pushed everyone away. I wanted nothing to do with love or a woman to tie me down. You aren’t just my person. Ev, you’re my fucking lobster.”

Shattered. Broken. Healed. Loved.

Casey is a wounded war vet, who has lost his leg in a war zone. Evelyn is a woman who has beaten and abandoned all her life. Case by chance meets Ev and the attraction that they share is instant. But Ev is hesitant at letting anyone into her life. Between her sister and nephew reappearing in her life, trying to avoid her sister’s messy lifestyle and working at a strip bar Ev’s life is a disaster. Case just wants to finally meet his person, and now he thinks he has. Ev can’t stand the thought of someone hurting Andy or Case so she tries to push Case away only that backfires, Case isn’t letting that happen. But all the destruction starts who will be there to protect Evelyn?

*** I am voluntarily reviewing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book***
I became a fan of KL Donn when I was an ARC reader for Lost and Found Book 3 of the Possessed Series and this book reminded me why! You better be ready for the roller coaster ride your emotions are going to take you on. Case and Ev are so well written, compelling, damaged characters that you connect with immediately. This book moves quickly, grabs you from beginning to end, and the chemistry between these two is undeniable. Great read, I'm a huge fan!!

KL Donn did it again!

I am amazed at this author’s way of tackling issues, how she tells her readers that everything and anything can be overcome, just like her heroines does.

Yes, we know it’s fiction, and her men—Case here, are too good to be true, but us women can dream, right?

One thing that stands out, is the fact that through Evie, she KL Donn tells us that although real life adversities give different reactions, us women can rise above it all as long as we believe we can.

Thanks again, KL Donn!

Sweet, good story with likable characters. Similar to the previous story in the series. The first half is a bit un-even and the characters didn't seem to sure of their personalities but I did like them both. It seemed to be going in a certain direction that never really happened then it sort of tied itself up in a neat bow.

Still good for a super cheap read.

My heart hurt for both these MC's. Mostly Casey because of his PTSD and how hard he struggled to find his true path of acceptance and happiness. I didn't fully understand Evelyn's reasoning for her decisions.....and her abrupt (really abrupt!) turn from victim to aggressor....but liked her as a person and how she tried so hard to keep her family close. I still enjoyed their story and their HEA.

Take a solider that's been broken by war and the way the world responded to his return, and a woman who's been taught that anything you love gets taken away so loving nothing is best. And you get this amazing beautiful heart-wreaching story that leaves you emotional drained yet wanting more of their HEA.

A beautiful story that will make you cry laugh and most of all fall in love

I had read the first in this series a while back and you definitely need to be all caught up to really get the story. This author is one of the best at Alpha Obsessed guys.

While I don't really think it hit 4⭐, it was over 3.5 so...

I loved Casey and Evelyn together. I didn't love how wishy washy he seemed to be at the start. He'd go from all in to pushing her away in a millisecond. The first half of the book was a 3. The last half 🥵🔥. I'm glad I didn't dnf it when I wanted to.

Casey and Evie

In this book, you'll find two people with a past and a little hit broken. They've tried to stay away from each other, but fate is fickle; when she's spoken, it's a done deal. I love how they are with each other; this author did it again for me; it's an amazing read.

Wow... I knew from OWNED by Dominic, that Casey's story was going to hold an impact and in a big way. Casey and Evelyn's story is intense in chemistry, emotion, outside drama, and adjusting to each other.

Emotions run high within these characters and as such, with the way K. L. Donn wrote everything, with the reader as well. There were moments of fanning myself, giggling, and tears streaming down my face. What Case went through breaks my heart and seeing him come out on top over it makes my heart proud! The same with Ev, especially with her staying strong while enduring the worst things imaginable until Case intervenes.

Intense reads like this grip you from the first paragraph and don't let you go. You may have to take a break but the story is still swirling within your mind on what is to come and trying to process what happened. The story is tastefully done and amazingly written. Can't wait to read what K. L. Donn has in store next.

I loved this emotional story so, so much. I honestly didn't want it to end. Casey is an ex-Army Ranger that's on a downward spiral until Dom comes to the rescue. Evelyn has been moved around from foster to foster since her mom left her, so she feels like she doesn't deserved to be loved. I'm so glad that Casey has his HEA with Evelyn. I won't give any spoilers, but I will say you need to read this book! You will fall in love with Casey! We also get to read about Dom again. I can't wait to read the next book from KL Donn!

Case is a retired Army Ranger who like some of our great military men and women has been medically discharged due to an accident from serving his country and has been back in the states for quite some time. Unfortunately Case is having trouble coping so he drowns his regret, sorrows, anger, maybe some pity into drinking and women until his friend Dominic talks some sense into him. Evelyn is an exotic dancer (stripper) who feels that she is unworthy of love and believes that she is so broken that nobody could love her for who she really is and not just another exotic dancer. So when these two meet they are so stubborn that they push each other away at first but thanks to Dominic and Deedee, Casey goes after Evelyn never stopping until she knows that Casey plans to make her his. I loved how the author explained Evelyn's past as I was reading about it, I couldn't help but cry because they're have been times in my life when I've felt so broken and unworthy of love. Luckily I found someone who like Case with Evelyn broke down my walls and showed me that I was worthy of love. Can't wait to read more from this author, even though she made me cry.
