Rate this book
A takedown of an F-16 jet creates a ripple effect that brings two men to the epicenter of a global earthquake.

As power struggles in the Middle East threaten to spiral out of control, Navy Special Ops soldier Yanai Levine crosses enemy lines on a mission to bring back the missile array responsible for potentially shifting the balance of power and turning a secret battle into an all-out war.

But Levine is a Knight, not a King. As he and his team risk their lives in Syria, Mossad director Meir Harari is playing a much bigger game. Resourceful and unrelenting, Harari’s agents are gathering intel that will incite disorder between the two allying superpowers he’s facing. He doesn’t know it at first, but his mission will force him to confront shocking revelations in the top brass of his own government.

From behind the veil and enemy lines, all the pieces are set for this global game of Chess. A game of lies, heroics, and passion. A game of soldiers and spies.

A game of Silence.

Unexpectedly Difficult Book to Read and Follow Throughout …

This book had a weird beginning, and almost made me throw it away several times. Then the plot moved on to what seemed to be an entirely different, confusing change to the book’s structure, which kept me hanging on trying to understand what The Author was doing.

THEN The Author AGAIN changed context, which left The Reader again confused, trying to figure this out.

There were some very, very good and interesting parts to this book.

Unfortunately, they were few and far between, and the majority of the writing was difficult to follow and understand.

Perhaps my confusion was as an American reading an Israeli tale.

Perhaps it was just poor writing skills.

Truthfully, it was all I could do to finish this story, and there were multiple times I came close to just stopping and moving on to another book. I’m not convinced at this point, that finishing to the end was the right choice … with the result that The Author kept several incomplete plot lines that seem designed for a follow-up novel — which This Reader will not jump into …

Good first novel

This book skips around a bit but brings it all together in a good manner. It ends in a way that wants me to start the next book now.

A long book

It was interesting to me as I have lived in the middle east and a lot of the phrases and action were familiar. I felt the story line was weak.

A superb military thriller that informs about the secrets of the Middle East

Israeli author Eran Ben-Amy is a highly awarded criminal attorney, working first in the District Attorney’s office as a criminal prosecutor, and now is a private lawyer who has successfully incorporated science into the legal world. After his military service in the Special Forces, he served in the State Department ambassador’s security detail, winning the Meritorious Honor Award for his part in apprehending a suicide bomber outside the American Embassy in Tel Aviv> With that depth of experiences, he presents his debut novel GAME OF SILENCE, translated from the Hebrew by Lauren Rosenman.

Given the author’s significant background for understanding military actions, his additional gift of excellent prose sets this fine book into an even higher rank. His spellbinding Prologue suggests his gifts: ‘His consciousness awakened into darkness. For a moment, he did not recall that his eyes were shut. But even if he had opened them, he would still find himself almost completely in darkness. He savored the uncertainty, choosing not to know. Subconsciously he didn’t want to wake up. The only light flirting with him was the thin strip of light emanating from the oil lamp which infiltrated inside through the opening of the tent…Since his third attempt to escape, he was bound every night…’ Tension established, the story moves forward.

The plot is a fascinating one, well crafted, and is summarized as follows: ‘A takedown of an F-16 jet creates a ripple effect that brings two men to the epicenter of a global earthquake. A game of Silence.’

Eran Ben-Amy steps onto the literary stage as fully informed and gifted writer of military thrillers. Watch him rise! Highly recommended.
