Coleridge Cliffs #3

Classic Dilemma

Rate this book
I know better than to fall for my best friend's brother...

Ian:

Making a move on Ash would be the worst thing I could do. And I can’t risk it. The list of reasons we can't be together is a mile long, the least of which is that he's my best friend's brother. There's also the fact that he'd probably never be into me that way. Oh, and even if he was, there's the small detail that I've been hiding a part of myself from him - a pretty significant part.

But then I look at Ash, and I know that he’s the one. The only one for me.

Ash:

I’ve lived with my hopeless crush on Ian for years, knowing full well he’d never see me that way. After all, as far as everyone in town’s concerned, I’m not to be taken seriously anywhere besides the basketball court. And Ian's so...perfect. I have about as much chance with him as going pro after college.

But sometimes, when I’m alone with Ian, I feel…something between us. Like maybe I’m not entirely crazy to want more.

Contents include: epic-level longing, steamy stolen moments, light D/s elements, and a swoony HEA.

Classic Dilemma is a sweet love story between college basketball star Ash and his brother’s charismatic best friend, Ian. The chemistry between these two men was evident from day one but because of some family dynamics they kept their feelings to themselves until they couldn’t fight it any longer.

This book is a low angst novel but it’s packed with so many layers. It’s a story about trusting someone with your deepest “desires”and the importance of family and friends.

One of the many things I love about Classic Dilemma is the setting. The descriptive way Jeris Jean wrote the small town of Coleridge Cliff was so vivid, it felt real. Even the neighbors felt real.

This semi-slow burn romance between two beautiful men (both inside and outside) is Jeris’ hottest book to date.

Classic Dilemma is another winner from Jeris Jean and I can’t want to see where she takes the series. This is another gem!

I recommended this book, this series, this author.

Congratulations!!!

Low Angst Sweet Love Story with Heat

We are back In the quirky historic town of Coleridge for book 3 in the series and this book tells the story of Ian and Ash.

Ian has now worked for Ben his best friend and owner of Stonecastle for a couple of years and at last he has found somewhere he feels at home with a family that have taken him in. Ash is the younger brother of Ben and although Ben is very protective of his much younger brother he is also rather dismissive of him and just sees him as frivolous and not taking life seriously.

In this book we find that when Ian first arrived in Coleridge it was Ash that picked him up from the bus station and it was instant attraction, although neither man knew it was reciprocated. They have kept their feelings for each other under wraps for a couple of years and this is where the book picks up their story.

This is a low angst sweet romance, Ian is terrified of Ben finding out how he feels about Ash as he couldn’t bear to lose his best friend and chosen family and he is also hiding a secret from Ash and Ash isn’t even sure how Ian feels about him but when the pent up frustrations come to the surface one night they are in no doubt how they feel and as much as Ian is scared to tell Ben they cannot stop what they have started and here is where I get quite the surprise! Well done Jeris I didn’t envisage that.

As usual the authors descriptive writing draws you into Coleridge, is it ever warm and sunny, and we get to revisit all the previous loveable characters including the cute Opal who is now seven months old. I loved Ben in his book but in this book he came over a bit self centred in the way he treated Ian, taking advantage of Ian’s good nature and he just didn’t “see” Ash but Ian did, he saw how capable and talented Ash was and championed him causing his first rift with Ben.

A very enjoyable read, low angst a sweet then hot romance with a twist and loveable characters. Thank you Jeris for gifting me an ARC in return for my unbiased opinion.

Every book in the Coleridge Cliffs series is fantastic and I’ve truly enjoyed each character and pairing. I have been waiting in particular for Ashland Miller’s story, however, since the very first novella that started the series, and let me tell you… JERIS EFFING DELIVERED! Ash and Ian are steamy, swoony, sweetness, and I loved every minute of them. Their story is one that I will reread many times.

Ian Lynch, groundskeeper and all-around handyman for Stonecastle, Coleridge Cliffs’ historic estate and hotel, has spent the two years since he moved to town trying to ignore his feelings for his best friend’s younger brother, charming and handsome college basketball playing Ash Miller. When Ash moves back to the estate to help prepare for the grand reopening, Ian and Ash partner up to stock the gift shop and their mutual feelings become increasingly harder to keep hidden.

"It was like he had a gravitational pull, and I’d finally grown too tired of fighting against it. His orbit was too strong, and I was dangerously close to letting it pull me in."

I loved Ian and Ash together! These two are definitely my favorite couple so far. Their pining was really well written and I was so excited when they finally kissed for the first time! They clearly adore each other and I loved seeing Ian jump to Ash’s defense with no hesitation. My only complaint about this book is that it wasn’t longer! I’d have loved to see more of these guys together! They have a light D/s dynamic that was so hot and I’d have really enjoyed like 80 more pages of them figuring out that element of their relationship. I really enjoyed this and recommend this if you want a quick read with lots of pining, sweet guys, some steam, and a found family element. I think each book in this series could stand alone, but I’ve enjoyed all the books so far. I’m looking forward to the next one! (I’m thinking - Ash’s basketball co-captain Xander and a certain assistant coach? Hmmm????)

A lovely, low-angst story about two very sweet men who finally find love after they have been secretly pining for each other since they first met.

Ian and Ash are wonderful together. They are so clearly smitten with each other (I’m surprised they were able to hide it for so long). After the build-up of them each dreaming of the other, being sure they were getting vibes (though they were equally sure they were misreading them), it was absolute fire when they first kissed. The lead-up and backstories were so well written, that there was no question they were meant to be together, and felt absolutely believable. The light d/s dynamic gave their story a little kick, taking it from just a sweet story, to a sweet and steamy one. It was a great twist, and I loved everything about it.

I’m also smitten with how readily they accepted each other for who they were, and what they loved, and were quick to defend each other when necessary.

This was absolutely a swoony, steamy, and beautiful story.

Oh well, what can I say? Another amazing story from Jeris Jean.
Ian and Ash have loved each other from the moment they met, but for two years, neither of them had the courage to tell the other how they felt, for fear of rejection. In addition, there was the fact that Ash is Ben's brother, Ian's best friend and boss and that Ian hides a couple of secrets, which due to past experiences, have caused ruptures in his previous relationships.

Until one night, the feelings were too much to keep hidden.

It's not just a story of love, but of acceptance and strong bonds of friendship and family, and this author pulls it off without hype or drama.

Oh and one of the best things, the brief appearance of certain characters from another great series by this author! Is there a crossover coming? I hope so!

I received an advance copy and this is my honest and voluntary review.

New to me author. This is a contemporary mm story set in the USA, in a small college town. Main characters are Ash a college basketball player and Ian an elder man who is Ash’s brothers best friend. Ian works at Ash’s family B&B. Slow burn but great story of forbidden love, throw in some kink and it’s a enjoyable story.

Damn damn damn - this book had me sweating. 🔥

I will say that this story is definitely well written with funny, nice, and steamy scenes that will keep you hooked.

The plot is about a man named Ian coming to work as a groundskeeper for his friend Ben. Later he gets promoted and he becomes a... lodging manager. If you ask me if there is a particular reason I mention this.. yes there is. It took me some time to get used to these two words *groundskeeper & lodging manager* so umm duh.. I'm gonna flash them in front of your face. Because I can. 😌

Anyway. Back to sexy Ian. So during the time he works for his best friend, he meets his little brother Ash and the rest is history. He falls so hard for him and can't contain easily his emotions. Ash is a young college boy and the moment he sets his eyes on Ian realizes how attracted he is to him. But neither of them make a move.

*Sigh*

These two are something else. No one was talking to the other about what they feel. They were holding back behind their walls and just made assumptions!

They both thought that they would make the other uncomfortable if their true feelings were revealed. And they both feared rejection. 😔

Ian said "if I confess my true feelings then everything would change". Like WHAT would it change other than your relationship towards to the better!!? He wants you too!!

Do you know what's the issue here? They both overthink their ass off. They need to stop thinking what ifs ASAP 😩

Okay fiiiiiine 🙄 There were a couple issues that had some kind of a reasoning.. like Ben. How Ben would react if he learned that Ian was fucking with his little brother? That he had emotions for him?

To be honest.. I don't care for Ben's opinion. He pissed me off a couple times in this read but having read his book(it's the previous one) I know that he's not the asshole he seemed to be in this story.

This is a book of a man falling in love with his best friend's little brother. So prepare for a lot of sexual tension but also attraction 🔥 This book was SO hot and to be honest.. I was positively surprised. I've said before that I'm a fan of this author's writing style so me liking this book is something I was expecting ❤️

It was perfect until the kinky scenes are intervened. Dont get me wrong I love D/S novels and totally loved the idea that Ian is a submissive, but I just can't think Ash, all sweet and cute, of dom. he just acts like one so that's a bit akward. a caregiver? yes, but dom? umm.... it felt like he loves Ian so much that he just tries changing himself for him. I was worried that it would end up wearing him down. it would been better if it showed that side of him before they started a physical relationship.
aside that, they are really perfect. I was happy for them

Classic Dilemma! WOW, LOVED THIS BOOK!

Another smash hit by Jeris Jean! I’ve been waiting for this love story between Ash and Ian since it was hinted at in Book 1, and boy was this book worth the wait!

First off, I instantly fell in love with the dynamics between Ash, the sweet and cocky basketball player, and Ian, the hunky groundskeeper -who also happens to be best friends with Ash’s older brother, Ben (who I absolutely fell in love with in book 2! Who doesn’t love a sweet and burly bear?)

This story is your classic “in love with my brother’s best friend” trope which makes for such a fun and entertaining story. Jeris has a way of weaving such amazing and fantastic stories that keep readers flying through pages until they either reach that final word or pass out from sleep deprivation. Luckily, I reached that final word before my body took matters into its own hands and shut down at 2am.

Right from page one, I fell in love with both Ash and Ian. The friendship and love that they develop throughout the story had me wishing the book would never end. It’s a sign of great writing when you are able to fall in love with characters and feel their pain, torment, and even joy as it unfolds within the pages of the book. By book 3, you really start to bond with the characters in this series and smile every time they make an appearance on the page.

Oh yeah, for those who have read Jeris’ Hollywood Hopefuls series, you may even recognize a few guest star characters (*my lips are sealed*).

For those who love MM romances that are sweet, romantic, with a side of kink… this is the book for you! While this book can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading each book in order. Why not experience this amazing series as it was intended?

Happy reading!!

Enjoyed it

This was a fairly short read but I enjoyed it. I would say you can read this as a stand-alone as I haven’t read the others in this series and other than not knowing the backstory of other couples mentioned, there aren’t any issues.

I enjoyed the way the relationship between Ash and Ian developed and how Ian was so strong and caring and stood up for Ash when necessary. I also liked the way Ash was so prepared to learn and embrace something new to him to take care of Ian’s needs.

Loved it and definitely a new favorite couple for me!!

I have to say this is definitely my favorite book/couple in this series...quite possibly my favorite of all Jeris's couples ... definitely a tie with Jasper & Matt from HH's (and if you haven't read that one, you need to).

This was true to form Jeris Jean's writing that I love with the fun banter amongst family and friends, great secondary characters that you love, just the right amount of steam and anticipation to keep you turning the pages.

The "inner monologue pining" for each other of the two mc's, Ian and Ash,...well let's just say they had me all ramped up too waiting for them to forget their fears and insecurities and finally give in to their desires. Someone told me it would be worth the wait and it truly was. The spice level and little bit of kink was perfect. I loved the build up and when they finally came together it was awesome!

I loved how Ian was quick to defend and take up for Ash and how Ash was eager to do what it took to please and make Ian happy. As a "best friend's brother" trope there's a small amount of drama they have to get through and it just showed how much love all these characters have for one another already. Which is another thing I love about Jeris Jean's books, she always shows the importance of chosen family and how much richer they can make your life.

I wasn't ready for this book to end and would have loved a few more chapters of Ian and Ash's swoon fest. Incase you couldn't tell, I highly recommend this book, series, and author!!

Classic Dilemma is a low angst story with plenty of heat and sweetness.
Ian and Ash have been secretly pining for each other since they first met. Assumptions have kept them each from acting on their attraction.
When they can no longer keep silent things heat up!
I loved the chemistry and connection between Ian and Ash. They fit together perfectly.
This story gives us love, family, friendship and acceptance.
It is a wonderful addition to the Coleridge Cliffs series.

Brother's best friend? Yes, please!

If you haven't immersed yourself in Coleridge Cliffs yet, consider this your sign. These books are written with such respect to the stories and the characters. I love them because they are low angst with a slow heat to them. The characters are very well fleshed out. And the storylines are complete and enthralling.

I am so happy that we got Ian and Ash's story! Since the beginning of this series, we've known about the crush Ash has on Ian. And we've had hints that his feelings are returned. In this book, their story really comes to life. Of course, there is a little bit of drama because Ian is the best friend of Ash's brother. Thankfully, that isn't drawn out and is quickly resolved.

I was tickled to see Ben and Ash's family once again - they're such a fun crew! I love the happy-for-now that Ian and Ash have. And I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!

Classic Dilemma is a wonderful, and classically heartwarming story! Ian is the groundskeeper at Coleridge Manor. Ash is the youngest Miller brother, he’s a basketball star for the Albatrosses. Ian has fought against his attraction to Ash because he was so young. But Ash’s older brother throws them together working to get the gift shop open before the grand opening. I seriously love close proximity as a troupe and Classic Dilemma was done beautifully!! Overall, this is a fantastic, wonderful story. Well written with nice pacing!!

If you have been reading the Coleridge Cliff books, you have seen a glimpse of Ian and Ash's attraction toward each other in the other books. I loved this low angst, swoony read. The secret that Ian has been keeping is something I didn’t expect. Even with Ash is young, he learns as much as possible when he finds out that Ian wants to be the submissive in the bedroom. The connection that the two share has been growing since they met. I have not found anything that I can’t read from Jeris, and I love that we see some familiar faces from the Hollywood Series is fantastic.

This was a sweet story! Ian and Ash were pining for each other since they meet, but the age gap between them and Ian being afraid of losing his friendship with Ash’s older brother is one of the things the didn’t act on his attraction.

Ash has been attracted to Ian since the first time he pick him up at the bus station but he living at the dorms in college but now he is back to help his brother on his B&B, working alongside Ian is making impossible no to act on his feelings for him.

Ian has work at the B&B for 2 years and now is the new lodging manager, they are remodeling and need all the help they can get because of a new project and Ash is starting at to help, he is more that attracted to him but he is afraid of being rejected because he has a secret.

After spending time together Ash finally decided to act on his feelings for Ian and they explore together a little D/s dynamics, of course Ash is all in and discover we would do everything for Ian.
I like the story and how they get together and enjoy their interaction with the D/s scenario, both are so sweet together and I enjoy that this was no angst between the MC’s.

Ash and Ian’s story is full of sweetness and heart, with minimal angst. It’s a brother’s-best-friend romance with a moderate age gap and plenty of chemistry. The guys have been drawn to each other from the start, and I loved the way the author brought all the attraction and feeling to the page. I also loved the backdrop of Coleridge Cliffs and the historic estate, which felt picturesque and yet incredibly plausible– the kind of place it’d be fun to live and work, filled (mostly) with the kind of people it’d be fun to know. Ben, Ash’s older brother, is maybe my only “eh” component of the story– he’s a strong personality and both his brother and his friend feel pressed to do a lot of tiptoeing around how he’d feel about them together, but he doesn’t seem to really see or appreciate either of them as people, beyond their relationship to him. Overall, however, I really enjoyed watching these guys get together, especially the way they’re able to see and support each other in exactly the ways each one needs. An enjoyable read.

A sweet, best friend's brother romance set in the small town of Coleridge Cliff's.
Ian is 100% sure that Ash would never see him as anything other than Ben's best friend/employee. He's fairly low on self confidence and doesn't see himself too clearly as Ash clearly shares Ian's intense longing for the older man. It's a bit of a slow burner as they dance around some longing glances and innocent touches. The story itself is quite big on internal monologues and setting the scenes but that doesn't detract from the character interactions or what they feel. Ian had a couple of surprises that I was not expecting and, it turns out if anything, it just made him hotter to Ash. Their main dilemma is Ben, Ash's older brother and Ian's best friend/employer. Ian, especially, doesn't want to lose him but Ash comes to mean just as much so there's a small dose of drama with that.
The B&B is coming along nicely to with its revamp ready and a new deal maybe bringing huge hope to the future of the family estate.
A good addition to the series and I'm wondering if Xander will be up next with his own story.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

It just keeps getting better and better! Classic Dilemma by Jeris Jean was amazing. Ash and Ian are definitely my favs in the series so far! ❤️🙌🏻

I’ve been so intrigued by Ian in the past two books, so I absolutely loved getting to know him and reading his story. Ian was such a sweet soul, but with a pinch of kink—loved it!! 🔥🔥🔥Ian’s dynamic with Ash was great to read, as their chemistry was off-the charts hot. 🥵🥵

Can we talk about how amazing Ash was as well!? All of the talk about his curls made me want to run my fingers through his hair, haha! I loved how Ash had such a sensitive side, with his affection for Ian and art, but then he also had a hot, dominant side—yes please! 🙌🏻❤️🔥

Overall, loved loved loved this book. If you haven’t started this series yet, then what are you waiting for? It’s so damn good! ❤️❤️

I Need More Coleridge Cliffs Men!

Jeris Jean’s Classic Dilemma was so difficult to put down! I adore Ash and Ian, but the ending of their story left me with more questions than answers. I have questions about possible other couples in Coleridge Cliffs as well as other potential upcoming events. This is one of the more difficult reviews I’ve written because I don’t want to include any spoilers.

Ash and Ian are perfect for each other. I loved their meet cute and the romantic tension that Jeris built. Their backstories go to show that you never really know what someone is going through based on how they present themselves. I really hope I get to explore more of Coleridge Cliffs in the future!

Ash and Ian meet when Ian comes to work as a landscaper for the family business, an historic bed and breakfast.

Ian becomes best friends with Ash’s brother, who runs the B&B, but the spark between him and Ash is there, and grows over the years. Finally, they move into a relationship, knowing it’s more than a physical thing between them.

This was an interesting read, and though it has some dominant/submissive play, it’s not too intense and has no elements of pain.

Some things are left unclear, like Ash’s art career and the results of the work they did on the B & B.

I received this ARC for free, and am glad to provide my honest review as a thank you for this book.

Classic Dilemma was the perfect mix of sweet and heat. The pining, the wanting, the worry, all that comes with a brother's best friend romance, and that yummy tension and explosive feels when they finally get together. I love it! And once Ian and Ash get together, it's electric. I love what Jeris added to their story, the assumptions people make about people, and how she breaks that down. The dynamics between these two are amazing, and I love how they are with each other as they learn what the other needs.
I definitely recommend this book, can't wait to see whose story might be next...I have my suspicions, but I'll keep it to myself to avoid spoilers ;)
