Collects watercolor-and-ink reproductions from the gold medal-winning Tiffany artist's sketchbooks, period photographs of his creations, and specially commissioned photographs of his jewels including the gold-and-enamel orchid brooches that were featured at the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition.
John Loring is design director emeritus of Tiffany & Co, where he was design director from 1979 to 2009. He is the author of numerous books about Tiffany's and art in general and a longtime contributor to Architectural Digest.
This is a lovely book on one of Tiffany and Company's best designers. He had a wonderful career and won many awards worldwide but when the Tiffany son took over the company he was edged out. After he left he never designed another piece of jewelry. The text is easy to read and to the point. The examples are many and show, not only wonderful pieces but, there are many original sketches included. Well worth finding to read for anyone that can appreciate vintage high end jewelry and fine craftsmanship of silver and gold work for trophies, and other items.
