I like Ruda, but don’t like the drama with his mother. I can’t wait to find out more about her bopping back and forth and why March 2nd is so significant to it. Also, GAH! Foreshadowing with her future BF!
Though I kinda feel bad for the friend-zoned two, they kinda did it to themselves.
4, looking forward to the next volume, stars.

I really enjoy the premise of the series - the idea of being pulled into a light novel is always fun, and the cast of characters is cute too. The second volume keeps that charm but really explores the darker side of what Dani is going through. Always wondering if her new friends will get pulled away from her is pretty rough. On the bright side, the friendship and communication between everyone is really heartwarming.
That said, the execution isn’t always as smooth as it could be. The flashbacks or time jumps make the pacing a little hard to follow. I found myself wishing that the story had unfolded more sequentially, since that could have made certain moments land with more emotional weight.
Still, the premise and characters make up for the structural bumps. Everyone’s love for Dani really shows and makes you want to keep reading.
Thank you Random House for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
I don't really understand her thinking with wanting to keep her distance from them at school, but not outside of it. Like... you'd still be making memories together. So, that drama takes most the book. I am surprised by how much she confided in them! Plus, the first day of high school is so funny. Looking forward to reading more!
The fun continues with a side of trauma in My Life as an Internet Novel, Volume 2. In Volume 1, we were introduced to our main cast of characters then thrust 3 years into the future where Dani has befriend all of the "Love Interests." Throughout volumes 1 & 2 we're given flashbacks when necessary. While volume one makes it seems like Dani lived a casual life for those three years, volume 2 reveals that Dani was in fact traumatized within those three years, and that trauma has reinforced her belief that she cannot/should not get close to any of the characters in the novel.
Despite that belief, Dani has bonded with the characters and she finds herself debating what to do. She wants to pull away from them to protect herself from future heartache, but she doesn't want to hurt her friends either. It's an understandable conundrum. Alas, it's not an easy one to explain to one's friends, especially when Dani reasoning for pulling away from her friends is that they are not real.
What makes Volume 2 so wonderful, however, is the genuine bond of friendship between all the characters. The situation they're all in a complex, and it would be easy for any of them to be mad, but each of them does their best to approach the situation with empathy. They don't always succeed, but they try, and that is really nice to see in a book.
Thank you to NetGalley for an Advanced Reader Copy. It was such a delight.
My Life as an Internet Novel, Volume 2 by A Hyeon and Yu Han-ryeo was even better than the first volume! It's getting so interesting with the mystery of how Dani ended up in this world and why sometimes it seems as if she's going to leave it someday. But her friends are all so sweet and want to be there for her, and I LOVE IT, and she decides to keep being friends with everyone even though it's risky. Then, when they start high school in the second half, a whole slew of new characters turn up in Dani's new class. Intrigue! I really, really hope volume 3 releases fast, or I'll have to go read the chapters on tappytoon cause I NEED to know what happens next!
I really do love the concept of this story. I only wish the execution would be a bit more clean. Sometimes the story will jump either in time or character and it would take me a few minutes to re-place myself in the story.
I love how Dani kept calling out the author, it always made me chuckle a little.
I do still love these characters and I’m interested to see where this will plot line will go but I am worried that we are now introducing too many characters and I may get a little confused in volume 3.
Let me tell you, I was pleased as punch when the publisher approved my early access to this graphic novel because I loved volume 1 of My Life As An Internet Novel. Since Dani was pulled into her favorite light novel, things have taken quite the turn. What started with fear and uncertainty has become Dani’s day to day life. She has made good friends, and started to feel at home. Which is exactly when this newest volume decides to take things even further off the rails.
In this installment, we also finally get to see the idea that Dani might not actually just a supporting character really start to take off. No spoilers here, but it was executed in such an adorable way. Like the light novel that came before it, this graphic novel really shows how much Dani has blossomed and grown into her new place in the world. Of course, once she thinks she’s finally got everything figured out there are roadblocks thrown in her way. After all, what could be more fitting?
To be sure, this volume is a lot darker than the first one. Adapting this to a graphic novel format means that things have to happen a bit quicker than normal, and so we’ve fast forwarded quite a bit. Dani is now faced with the concept that her new friends could be ripped away from her at any moment. Her character is understandably a lot more quiet and reserved because of this. It broke my heart to imagine years of friendship erased in the blink of an eye, with only our main character left to remember everything. Still, I think the authors did a great job of balancing this out with a good bit of lightness too. The strong friendships that were showcased here really made my heart sing and, true to form, there are some seriously giggle worthy panels.
I genuinely enjoyed this, and I eagerly await volume 3! After the ending of this one, I’m on the edge of my seat. I simply can’t wait to see where things go next.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC for review.
I really enjoyed the second volume of this series.
The characters are fun and I like how volume 2 really established relationships and personalities more. My favorite would have to be Cheonyeong. He is so much like a character in a K-drama that I would absolutely lose my mind over. He’s such a babe with a cold exterior but you can tell he really cares. The way he and Dani interact is SOOOO CUTE. I literally blushed and had butterflies. They really evoke the feeling of when you first start to notice someone in a different way, but you are still in denial. I would love it if they ended up together.
I liked the fact that the mystery of the novel has now been shared with the whole group. It is nice to know they are all truly friends and now will go through everything together. It gives me a lot of anxiety, in a good way, worrying if someday they will forget each other. They are such a cute friend group, you really want to root for them.
The addition of the new characters is also really fun. I especially like Ruda Lee. I feel like they bring extra mystery and may be the catalyst to some feelings coming out regarding the original group.
The art is really beautiful, particularly when they are outdoors. The character designs are also really nice to look at. I like how everyone is “pretty”, but they do have their own unique characteristics. I think the aesthetics really go with the theme of the story.
Excited for further volumes and will be continuing the series.
Thank you to random house and NetGalley for the early copy to this. The story itself is laugh out loud with certain references to classic tropes in the WEBTOON genre. Our heroine is navigating living in a WEBTOON world with the real possibility she may leave at any moment. It is equal parts funny and angsty with well drawn characters and beautiful coloring.
I will say the adaptation knocks it out of the part. The art itself if beautiful but the way they have updates it to the paper or e format is stunning. I absolutely love the colorful chapter titles and pages that make it really all come to life.
I will say that I do not think I will continue with this story. As far as I know the story is still ongoing at 250+ chapters with no clear end in sight. I also am not a huge fan of not knowing who the ML is until the very end. Not to mention I was not a huge fan of the back and forth between past and present. It was incredibly jarring as a reader. In addition knowing what happens in volume 1, having volume 2 start in a random chapter between two characters listening to music felt odd. I felt that it could’ve happened earlier but that’s just my two cents.
Overall great story and beautiful. Just not for me in the long term.

Rating: 4.5 ★
I knew when I read vol 1 that I would be reading vol 2 because I love this series already! In this volume we see the friendships growing more as our main character adapts and grows used to this new world (albeit, she's not fully ready to accept this as her world now). The friendships are so pure and beautiful. I am envious of her friendship with Yeoryeong.
We also see our main character open up with these friends more,
These cliches are so fun and are cliches for a reason. I love seeing our main character trying to be normal and avoid these cliche tropes and characters, thereby drawing them in more! It's hilarious and such a fun light read.
Also the art style shows so much emotion! I really like how much character is put into the art.
I really loved this read and will be reading more of the series. I also will be buying them for myself once they're out because they're just so fun and cute. I definitely recommend it!
4.5 ⭐️ Thank you NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the eARC of My Life as an Internet Novel Vol. 2!!
Gosh the more I read this manga series the more I fall in love!! This is very much feeling like a cross between Komi Can’t Communicate in the happy go lucky/slice of life vibe and Ouran High School Host Club with the romance options and I’m LIVING for this!!!
It’s fast paced and funny with moments of seriousness that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy with how supportive the characters are of each other, especially how supportive everyone is of Dani blipping in and out of “reality”
I truly cannot wait for volume 3 to come out so I can try for the ARC of that but for now, I’ll be stopping at my local bookstore to pick up volume one to have as a trophy on my bookshelf until volume 2 comes out next February! I 100% recommend checking this series out if you can! It’s been a wild and fun ride already 🌸💕
- Netgalley & Random House Children's Book ARC read - romcom, high school setting -Full color
So far it's still a fun read, this volume hits a more sad note when Dani tells them about what happened a year ago. While they are not keen on the idea of acting like they don't know each other, they understand but Dani changes her mind about distancing herself from them in high school. The hidden personalities they all have keep it an interesting read in my opinion with the series incorporating a decent amount of tropes you usually see- which so far don't feel out of place.
Quick Summary: Dani, her BFF, and the four heavenly kings have a three year time skip to them starting high school- with a new setting, being in different classes, and some new characters added to the mix. We'll see what her friends think of the new friends she makes when they are in separate classes. Yeoryeong is already getting a bit worked up.
I really enjoyed diving back into the story after the first volume. This volume is a bit sad since we get to learn some more details about certain character’s backstories and also how Dani is affected by living in this “other” world.
Also, it’s refreshing how the miscommunication/misunderstandings were resolved, specifically how it didn’t take multiple volumes for the other characters to realize why Dani was feeling the way she was feeling.
But the sadness is balanced with all these hints of romance, plus the lighthearted and comedic moments. Yeoryeong is definitely one of my favorites in the manhwa. Her panels are always the funniest and such a breath of fresh air.
Also I cannot wait until Volume 3 comes out, especially since the author introduced at least four new characters, one of which I have a feeling will be very present from this point forth!

I love how the characters are having important conversations and being honest with each other, despite the heavy use of every other cliche. It's nice that the miscommunication trope isn't one of the prominent cliches used.
I stand by my volume 1 opinion, and still reeeeaaaaallly want Dani to end up with Cheonyeong. He falls first, she falls harder is such a cute trope, so I am crossing my fingers.
I was not expecting to be introduced to new characters so soon, but I am READY for the drama to unfold. I will 1000% be reading the next volume when it releases. Dani not knowing whether Ruda if is boy or girl is really funny; the queer baiting continues.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Children's Books for providing me a free copy of this title in exchange for my honest review.
I loved it! If you have read Tappytoon or Tapas version of this, BUY this!!! It was really good. I loved the plot in this volume; it is one of my favorites out of the whole series. It makes me cry. How she left the novel, then came back, and no one realized for a whole day. Traumatized Dani. Also, her friends are noticing that she is there, but they don't know how she feels about them. Because she keeps them at arm's length, when she explains what happened, they start to understand her reasoning. The pain she was suffering from, plus her not believing she belongs with them. It hurts her a lot. I feel the struggle in this volume. I 100% recommend it is a great translation and easy read. You will finish it and want more.
I received this book as an ARC from yen press. it is not influence my opinion and I received it in exchange for my honest opinion.

We continue the story of Dani in the second volume of the series. In this one, Dani finds herself back in her original world for a moment, and meets a new character at playing in the novel world.
The traveling back and forth, and the fact the rest of the cast doesn't remember here when she's gone, adds a new dynamic to the game. And that all the fake world's characters know? Quite a new factor in the mix. And finally, a new player adding tension to the characters' relationships. I'm excited to see where it goes next, though I do have a small grievance, which is that the story jumps back and forth in time a lot, which is a little confusing. In addition, they are covering a ton of time in only a few pages, so I have trouble having stock in relationships that are growing mostly off page.
This volume has me eagerly waiting for the next release! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it — the art is consistently pleasing, and the mix of cute, cliché, and hilarious storylines makes it a fun, easy read.
As observed in the first volume, Dani knows she is inside a novel and grapples to understand the situation. This installment explores the darker side of how this affects Dani and her group of friends. The story dives deeper into those bonds, and it’s heartwarming to see her friends respond with maturity and reliability.
With the shift to high school, the story takes on a lighter, more comedic tone. Dani’s habit of viewing her life in third person adds plenty of laughs, while the new setting and characters set the stage for more surprises. I’m excited to see where the next volume takes us.

In this second book in the series that collects volumes previously published online, Dani wonders about some of the time lags in her story and worries that her friends--the extremely attractive Four Heavenly Kings--won't remember her. Parts of the plot are dark and depressing while others are humorous. The premise of a secondary character finding herself in a starring role is interesting, but there are some times when the execution is confusing. As is often the case with manga, the characters are blindingly attractive, look older and more mature in some images and childlike in others, which is confusing. Perhaps this is a characteristic of this sort of storytelling and art style, but it tends to leave me feeling disoriented. Still, I enjoyed this brief glimpse into Korean middle and high school and all that eye candy.
I love using speculative fiction as a vehicle to discuss normal anxieties!
In this next installment, Dani grapples with feeling like an interloper after accidentally transporting into Yeoryeong and the Four Heavenly Kings' world. A very real emotion and worry anyone can feel about their friends and belonging somewhere. I loved the way the author used the magic they established in this world to explore that feeling in a relatable way.
This series continues to be a refreshing take on the classic reverse harem shojo from the 2000's and 2010's. New and old enjoyers of the trope will have a great time! I know I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the next volume.
Thank you to RH Graphic, Random House Children's, and Netgalley for the early review copy.
Yet again A Hyeon and Yu Han-ryeo suck me in. Despite some plot elements being a bit confusing due to cultural and translation disparities, this graphic novel is so addictive. All the characters are so beautifully drawn and there is so much complexity in each of the backstories and personalities. It is easy to get lost in this absurd and curious world, become attached to all the characters, and to bite your fingernails waiting to see what happens next. This is a title that I know my middle schoolers will just eat up leaving no crumbs. What will happen next in class 8 or class 1, I am on the edge of my seat?
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Children's Books for an arc in exchange for an honest review!
This series is so unique, and I am already ready for book three.
This second installment really solidified why I love this manhwa. Dani has so much life. She feels more real than your standard manga main character. She is nervous about this new life. She doesn't want to commit to this reality just to have it ripped away. She has real-world thinking that makes her so enjoyable. I am ready for a little bit of romance, but I was excited to see our newly introduced characters. Ruda is definitely going to shake things up, and I am here for it. This is a perfect series for people who love romance manga, but are tired of the main character tropes that they all fall into.
This manga was so cute and funny! I liked it even more than the first one.
I ship Dani with Cheonyeong so far. They’re cute. I also was loving the new characters introduced in the second half. I think it’s hilarious how Dani always has these theories in her head, like with this new American student.
Also, Yeo-ryeong’s jealous toward her is great. Dani’s dad had me laughing too. There’s just a lot to like here. I’ve really warmed up to the characters and can’t wait to see where it goes next.
Another fun edition to the series! When Dani briefly returns to the “real world,” she has to grapple with the possibility of one day losing her “internet novel” friends. And then- equally shocking!- she gets put in a different class from all of her friends, which introduces new rivals for attention. I am really enjoying this series and love the artwork. Can’t wait to see where the series goes next!
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The worst part of being part of a world you know comes from a story is knowing you could disappear from it, and no one would even remember you were ever there. The main character struggles with wanting to get close to her new friends while also holding herself back. She loves her new life but is terrified that one day everything will revert to how it was before she found herself inside an internet comic world. The art and characters are all incredibly well done, making this a fun and interesting twist on this type of story.
Thank you, Random House and NetGalley for the arc. In this volume, Dani grapples with feeling like an outsider after accidentally transporting into the Yeoryeong and the Four Heavenly Kings world. Feeling like an imposter is a very real emotion and worry that anyone can experience and relate to about their current situation. I enjoyed the novel, but occasionally found the time jumps to be confusing.
Volume 1 was lots of giggling and comedy rolled into one. But volume 2 toned down A LOT. We see the gravity of Dani's new life get ripped away from her as she is somehow taken back to her old home. Erased from the life she was getting used to before she is yanked back into the world. I still loved the characters and how different they all are.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The second installment in this series dives deeper and gives us more character development for Dani and her friendships. The time jumps were a little less jarring this time around but I was hoping to get a little more story before a whole new cast of characters was introduced.
The 2nd part of this story was more chaotic than the 1st. Making it hard to follow and not something that kept me wanting to read more. The story did have some cute & sweet parts that made me smile. But overall I was left feeling frustrated over the speed & chaotic style. This story may just have not been for me. I've enjoyed other cheesy manga, but this one I just didn't connect with enough.
