Bratva Bound #1

Beautiful Broken Obsession

Rate this book
“You’re getting married. Milos Levin needs a wife. He heads the Russian mafia—Bratva—here in Chicago. It’s time for him to get married, he wants kids and he wants them soon.”

Ice slides down my spine. Milos Levin is a man who has haunted my dreams and nightmares for the last four years. As the daughter of the Don of the Outfit, I knew this was a possibility. Yet I hoped since I made it to the ancient age of twenty-three, I was safe from a mob marriage. I’m the weird cat lady, too fat, and my mother is half Filipino. I shouldn’t have anyone asking for me—but Milos isn’t asking for me.

All he wants is a woman who fits his needs, someone who will cement his relationship with the Outfit and give him the children he wants. He would take my sister if she were willing because, as he told Carlo, all women are the same in the dark. But Carlo picked me, and I’ll do anything to protect my little sister.

Or so I tell myself—but that’s the biggest lie of all. The truth is four years ago I met Milos Levin on a freezing February morning, and I’ve never been the same since. I’ll marry him because I think that day, as crazy as it sounds, I fell in love with him.

But I can’t let Milos know that. Ever. He’s mafia, and whatever the name, their ways are all the same: take until there’s nothing left, then leave the enemy broken. I won’t be broken by him, or anyone. I won’t become my mother, willing to endure the affairs and lies in exchange for the money and status.

***

Four years and three months—one thousand, five hundred and forty-seven days—I have known Celia was mine. I have watched over her, listened to her, protected her. There is nothing I have not done and would not do to keep her safe and mine.

What it started as. I do not know. but now it can only be defined as an obsession. Celia is mine. Like me, she has known it all this time. Why she is suddenly fighting me as our wedding day draws closer, I do not understand. It does not matter. The day is nothing more than a formality.

I have never claimed to be a good or patient man. For her I was. That time is at an end. My kitten is baring her claws. She will find the veneer of civility I show the world is far thinner than she ever imagined—for in the end I am Bratva. We take what we want, ruthlessly and completely, and we never let it go.

***This is a standalone first in series that does not end in a cliffhanger. While Tony and Dominic Sabatini from the HIS: Sabatini Family series appear, you need not have read them to enjoy this. This novel includes spankings and rough sexual scenes. If such things offend you, please do not purchase. ***

Due to commitment issues I have lived in many different cities and my favorite is Chicago but I have managed to settle into Austin and perhaps my commitment issues are behind me.
I have enjoyed reading from a very young age and it wasn't long before the children books bored me and I read the books my mother enjoyed Stephen King and Dean Koontz and I didn't sleep without the light on until I was about ten.
I came across my first Harlequin by accident and it was love at first read, no one died and happy endings? It was a whole new world and I loved it.
I wrote my first story at eight and everyone died, of course. Since then I would like to think I've gotten better and now I'm writing the happily ever afters I first fell in love with, with some hot sex thrown in along the way.
As a plus size woman myself, I have started writing the stories I always wanted to see myself in but never did. And now I'm ecstatic to give BBWs the happily ever afters with hot Alphas they so rarely get.

I HATE THIS WRITING STYLE!!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYY?!?! It would go from present, to 4 years ago, to present, to 9 months ago, to present, to 3 years ago, to present, back to 4 years ago and on and on and on the time jumps went!

There was no rhyme or reason for how far back we jumped in time. It was all over the place, hard to follow and so confusing! As soon as I would start to get into the story it would jump in time. It’s actually really sad because I think I would otherwise have really liked this because I am all for the alpha-male-mafia boss-virgin heroine-BC tampering tropes!

Not my favourite its told in a time jump fashion and it seems to bounce around all over the place I’m not a fan of this type of narration but if it’s done well I can sometimes get with it but here it just felt clunky and erratic and all over the place. It had all of my favourite tropes mafia age-gap possessive over-the-top male but none of it was working for me. The female lead Celia was so bloody annoying irritating and incredibly immature. I just cannot see a man in his thirties finding that behaviour in any way attractive.

And the logic behind some things in this book just didn’t make a lot of sense. Celia’s dad is meant to be this big tough mafia don and his reasoning behind certain behaviours towards his family was just flawed it made practically zero sense. The mother is just as bad and why what point were they both actually making their actions could actually accomplish the opposite of their intentions and then there’s the effect on the girl's self-esteem. Then we had certain side characters that also made limited sense take that classmate of Celia’s the reasonings behind his actions were just plain stupid and unrealistic.

I eventually started to skim-read this and I finished because I was hoping it would start to improve unfortunately it didn’t. The way this is narrated felt chaotic the constant time-jumps also made it at times hard to comprehend it just didn’t flow fluently for me. I ended up not caring about any of the characters involved and wasn’t invested in their outcome either. Celia and Milos really made it far more complicated than it needed to be that’s for sure.

The sex though was hot both Celia and Milos did seem to have plenty of chemistry which was a relief it mostly had at times an intensely controlling dub consent tone but then also a decent amount of praise kink so think my good girl and all that jazz then it was mixed up with plenty of dirty smut talk and Milo sure had a filthy mouth that I did like.

This one wasn’t really my jam I just couldn’t connect on paper this should have been perfect for me as it ticked a lot of my boxes unfortunately I struggled.

1.33 stars? I liked how they met 🤷😂 her screaming that there's a kitten in the car and to turn off the car was good!....then the time jumps started. Past. Present day. 9 hours later (spongebob style), past. Present! Present. Past! Paaaa.... Just kidding. Still present.

And every time the time jumps happen, the stuff they think or say or do get repeated. At a certain point, I started skimming and everything was still.chugging along!

The switching of her BC implant to a fertility shot felt ho hum and all the side stories like Carlo (her dad) and mom with cancer were not really conducive to their story. I didn't feel any romance in the book with all her asking of how he fucked other women before he met her and why he never looked in their eyes when he effed them. 😂😂😂😂 and surprise! This is repeated a lot too 😬😬😬😬 celia! Why the eff do you care how he effed other people?! You cringy af.

The story was unnecessarily long and the writing wasn't captivating enough. The FL was insecure beyond reason and her tantrums childish. The MLs reason to feel the FL in the dark for so long was also stupid. And they could have avoided so much of the drama and almost more than half of the plot of they just talked like mature adults. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I had to skip most of the lines and dialogues because they were so repetitive and boring and long.

3.75 stars--BEAUTIFUL BROKEN OBSESSION is the first instalment in Fiona Murphy’s contemporary, adult BRATVA BOUND dark, erotic, Mafia, age-gap romance series-a spin off from the author’s THE SABATINI FAMILY series. This is thirty –nine year old Russian Pakhan Milos Levin, and twenty-three year old Celia Parker’s story line. You do not have to have read the previous series-several of the characters cross over or are mentioned as part of the world building.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers including violence and graphic language.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Celia and Milos) following several time lines BEAUTIFUL BROKEN OBSESSION focuses on the relationship and arranged marriage between thirty –nine year old Milos Levin, and twenty-three year old Celia Parker. Four years earlier, a then nineteen year old Celia Parker would meet the head of the Chicago Russian Bratva Pakhan Milos Levin, and her world would never be the same. Throughout the next four years Celia would willingly and unknowingly depend upon the man to whom she would be promised in marriage, a marriage of convenience in the criminal underworld but Celia’s home life was cold and distant, except for her sister Carina whom she loved very much. Hoping to get her degree as a veterinarian, Celia faces a number of challenges, many of which are too difficult to overcome. Fast forward to present day wherein Milos Levin returns to claim our story line heroine but secrets reveal both Milos and Celia have been targeted from opposite directions, and Milos is determined to protect the woman he intends to call his own. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Milos and Celia, and the potential fall-out as a marriage of convenience doesn’t necessarily mean a marriage for love.

Celia Parker wants nothing to do with an arranged marriage, and Milos must suffer her immature attitude and behavior but Celia was raised in the Bratva lifestyle, and is heart broken to accept a life unwanted and unloved having watched her mother pine for a man she could not have. With emotional issues of low self-esteem, Celia believes she is unworthy of love and affection. Wanting Milo meant accepting a life of loneliness, Celia struggles to move forward feeling betrayed by her family, and the man with whom she is falling in love. Milos Levin fell for Celia from the moment they met but Celia was too young to claim, and Milos wanted Celia to experience a life without the invisible bars but someone has placed a target on Celia and her sister, and Milos ensures that no harm will come to our story line heroine.

The relationship between Milos and Celia is acrimonious at best. Although Celia wants nothing to do with an arranged marriage, our heroine finds herself wanting the man who could break her heart. Four years without the woman that calls to his heart, Milos Levin struggles in the face of an unknown enemy, and an enemy from within. The $ex scenes are intimate, aggressive and erotic with some scenes of spanking. I do not like the use of a certain four letter word-used 69 times throughout the story-although I accept the word in my MC and Mafia romances, I found the overuse distracting, excessive and disruptive.

We are introduced to Milos Levin’s brothers Maxim, Damien, Aleksander, and Nikita as well as their mother, and uncle Gregori: Celia’s sister Carina, their parents Carlo and Cassandra, and Celia’s roommate and best friend Sergei; Milos’ right hand man Peter, and the cameos by Luca Sabatini, Tony and Christy Sabatini, and Dominic and Regina Sabatini, the Mafia and the Cartel. Here’s hoping the author has plans for Milos’ brothers and Celia’s sister as each introduction reveals a life of their own.

BEAUTIFUL BROKEN OBSESSION is a detailed story of family and relationships, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, obsession and love. The premise is captivating, complex and twisted including the establishment of a number of future story lines; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are determined, charismatic and combative.

I have read books with a very possessive hero, but the hero in this book gives a new meaning to the word possessive. He's like over, way over the top possessive. It was an interresting and enjoyable read.

The story was written in a way that I normally always avoid in books, which is the past and present (flashbacks) and that was the case for this book until just after 50%. Beyond that both the leads both had things that irritated the hell out of me. Celia was bratty and immature as hell, wasnt she like 23-24 or something? Her maturity level felt like that of a 16-17yr old.
Milos.... while i liked reading all that dominant "mine" sort of thing i didnt understand his need to keep Celia in the dark about his true feeling and basically treat her shitty and allow her own fears and insecurities about herself and how he felt to literally eat her alive for THE ENTIRE BOOK... he didnt tell her he actually loved her until well into 90% mark and then she just goes "well ok then, all is good now" 🙃 what?!. It was exhausting to read her confusion and wondering if he cares about her on repeat for the whole book... poor girl.
There was also alot of mentions of previous book characters (which i check from the blurbs in her books) and also a few story lines setting up for future books and it was frustrating to not really fully understand what the heck was going on when they where mentioned... it probably didnt need to even be in there.
So for me this wasnt my favourite Mafia book, I have seen it recommended and can appreciate the fact that some people really will like this book if they enjoy the past/present thing.

TW: Most sexual encounters are either dub-con or straight up non-con. I guess if the victim has an orgasm sometimes it’s okay?

This is NOT a romance and we need to stop calling it that. There is nothing romantic about abuse - saying I love you at the end doesn’t change that.

This book is part of the Sabitini family series in that it takes place in the same world and includes some of the same characters. Each book in the series is a stand-alone dealing with a different couple. The first in the series is HIS: Dominic (Sabitini).

Loved this story. It opens with the h being told by her father that she is to be married to the Russian Pakhan. She's told if she refuses that her younger sister will be given to him instead and she should be glad someone is willing to marry her. The story then goes back 4 years to when the Pakhan first met her when she was only 19 and a senior in hgh school. It then alternates between the past and present until the past is caught up to present time.

The h is not your typical mafia princess. She wasn't raised in her father's fancy home in the lap of luxury. Instead, she lived with her mother (his mistress and housekeeper) in a small house with her younger sister. Their paternal grandmother lived across the street and cared for them when their mother was away which was often. If not for her paternal grandmother (now deceased) she would have grown up without love or attention. She's was often belittled by her father and told she was fat and ugly and no one would want her. Though her grandmother prepared her for the mafia life, she's seen enough from her father and his men to know she wants nothing to do with it or them. She's strong and bold thanks to her grandmother, but lacks self esteem due to her father, his men and even the kids at school who called her fat.

This story is about a man who falls for a young girl, but knows he can not have her yet. It's about what he's willing to do in the background to keep her safe, what he's willing to sacrifice and how long he's willing to wait to assure she's happy and achieves her dreams. It's about two people who love each other but neither is willing to admit to the other for their owns reasons. He hides it because he knows if his feelings are known an enemy will use her to get to him. She hides it because she is unsure of his feelings, and lack of slf esteem has her questioning why he would even want her. She fears being like her mother, loving a man who uses her and then appears in public with other women.

It's an emotional and exciting story as you go through roller coaster of their feelings while navigating threats and enemies in the mafia life.

This book did have some errors in it, missing or reversed words, incorrect words (could instead of couldn't), etc., but unlike Fiona Muphy's book "HIS: Dominic", I connected with the characters in this book easily. So in the end, in spite of the few errors, I enjoyed this book so much more than " His".

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author, and for the most part I enjoyed it. I’m all for obsessive, dark, sexy, alpha mafia men that like to be in control. I also don’t mind if they are a tad cruel - but there are some lines that I don’t like crossed and Milos definitely goes over it. I can semi-understand why it happens but he does NOT apologize or grovel enough and that’s a huge issue for me. On top of that Celia is such a doormat. Initially she fights him on things (stupid things actually) and then she decides to cave on major issues and his poor behaviors. She came off as very young and stupid, especially for someone raised in the mafia. I did like the writing style a lot and the secondary characters. There’s a lot to enjoy in this book, but there are triggers (which were fine for me) but also some annoying aspects of the characters.

Format of the book: the first half (at least) jumps around in time, and the flashbacks aren't chronological. We start off with events being told from one viewpoint, and then later revisit those same events from the other POV. Luckily, there isn't the verbatim rehashing of conversations you find in other books that use this tactic, and there's some purpose to it as it explains the second character's motivations in those scenes.

I also hate how pretty much everyone is mindfucking Celia in some way. Her parents. Milos. People, including friends, basically telling her that she's the problem one in her relationship with Milos and that she has to be the one to change. She tries to express herself and stand up for herself and she's told that she is in the wrong for saying something. Maybe she hasn't figured out the best way to express her viewpoint because she is told she's wrong no matter what? Example: How Milos responded to the wedding planner issue-- just wtf. It just disturbed me that she was buying into this whole mindset that she has to be a good girl in all of her life, and in this context 'good girl' practically screams docile and meek and unquestioning. We're talking shades of 50s housewife (stereotypical personality the media said they should aspire to) and/or Stepford wife.

And this is random, and I hope it was fixed before the final copy went out, but in one scene, Milos says, 'Thank you. I do not dare kiss you the way I want.....I'm going to go get changed.' The following narration from Celia's POV: 'I nod. As he walks away, I can't help notice, he did that thing again where he speaks formally. No contractions, everything measured.' Um, 'I'm' is a contraction.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Ok, after dnf one time, almost give up, put it up and putting it back many times, I finally finished this book. Normally I don't like to leave a comments, since eng not my first language, but this book...

This book is a mess. All over the place. This author needs an editor or beta. Like I said eng not my first language, but I can read another novel just fine. But this one? Even I can tell the grammar was so wrong. To the point I can't read it normally. I need to read the same sentences 4, 5 times.

Can you imagine how long it took to read a book that had 300+ pages like this?

But if the story was good, I don't mind those "little" errors.

First of all, the FMC said “So like whips and collars and stuff? I never made it through the gray book, the girl got on my nerves.” Really? Compared to u, Ana looks like a badass (trust me, I never thought I would think that Ana's a badass).

This FMC is the ultimate doormat.

I don't mind the FMC being a doormat, sometimes I love it. But when the author "said" the another girl got on my nerves, and end up making her FMC the ultimate doormat?

1. Celia is still tense in my arms. It was a mistake to stay.
“Milos?” My name is a whisper.
“What?” Why can’t she go to sleep so this night can end with both of us content?
“Are you okay? Your brothers seemed really stressed when they came home today—"
“No, we don't talk about my business. What happens outside our home stays there.”

This is what happened after their first time, and FMC is a virgin! Can the MMC be more...i don't know, sensitive?

2. I take a deep breath. No fighting him. Be a good girl, give him peace, no begging to sleep in his room. I’ll work on ensuring he never wants to sleep anywhere but with me.

3. I can’t help glowing beneath his compliments over how well I handled myself and the people we met. His whispering how proud he was of me had me down on my knees for him, desperate to show him I could be even better—that I could be everything he needs and wants.

It's just so pathetic.

And the author just throws a ton of people out of nowhere, to the point I don't know who is who.😵‍💫😵‍💫

So I'm not a Mafia romance fan. I do make an exception for a few authors; Fiona Murphy is one of those writers. I am also a huge fan of the Sabotini men.

So without any huge spoilers here are the things I need to know when I read a review:

Graphic sex: yes and with one exception (which may be a trigger for some so proceed with extreme caution) it is well written and amazing

Too-stupid-to-live-heroine: for the most part no

Cliffhanger: nope

Standalone: yes, if you want. However the other books in the series do add to the overall enjoyment of the story

Cheating: hmmm.... without giving too much away I'm going to say I was concerned, but no.

Kink: yes, quite a bit but it is well written and hot

HEA: definitely

Overall: the story is touching to the point I want to cry in some places. It kept me engaged enough I spent every free minute of an entire day reading it so I could find out what happened. Excellent secondary characters and parallel plot lines. And there was an extended epilogue for closure and warm fuzzies.

My one complaint was that the time line jumped repeatedly from past to present from both characters perspectives. I am really not fond of stories that are not completely chronological. It did not detract from the storyline enough to remove a star.

Overall truly a great book.

This book is like a traffic accident….you can’t help yourself from continuing to read regardless of how horrible it is.

The writing is sooooo unusual! I don’t completely hate it, but I don’t like it and can’t relate well to it. There are a lot of monologue scenes as well. The authors intent is to have a dual POV and it’s a mediocre success.

1. This book needs serious editing and revision. The FMC is 19 during a flashback but her younger sister has a meeting with a client at 6pm on a Friday night. The younger sister was noted to be in high school and reading manga…what the fuck are you talking about a client?!

Comments like FMC is at home already fighting with her father to be kicked out onl6 to drive home again….she’s at home already so where the hell is she driving…in a circle?!

Seriously some things are so ridiculous and illogical!

2. TheFMC has called herself stupid, fat, ugly, more than 15 time and I’m only in the 2nd chapter. This derogatory commentary towards women especially herself is pissing me off.

3. I normally don’t mind insta-love stories, but this is beyond ridiculous. The number of times she blushes or feels something is so grossly exaggerated. 5his is ruining the story as much as #2.

The heroine was the worst! I thought that it was gonna be great and she started off fighting and pushing to get away from the mafia lifestyle. Then she’s acting like a complete idiot who just rolls over and does whatever her husband/fiancé says.

And wtf The as with the close of it wasn’t actual rape scene? The fuck that someone has that happen to them and then says oh can we just pretend that didn’t happen? Fuck that! I like dark romance, but this was not dark, this was fucked up.

This story had so much potential, but it failed horribly. I somehow finished it… I will never read another of her books.

OMFG 🙄

It has been a long time since I rated a book a 1 star, but I could not even get pass 16%. Our FMC is annoying af and she does the most for no reason. She irritates me to no freaking end! “He is leaving,” yet she has no reason to even think that. She jumps to conclusions REPEATEDLY and then apologizes just to do the same bs over again. Our MMC just accepts her bs like it’s cute. I’m so done. I hate wasting my time. 😑

I mostly enjoyed this book but the flipping back and forth in the timeline at the beginning really through me off and some of the tensing was really awkward to bed. Sometimes, I’m guessing to move the story along the book read as one line entries into a diary, (I did this, then this, then this) which I found really disruptive ti the flow of the story. Normally this wouldn’t affect my rating but it happened often enough to really annoy me.

I have mixed feelings about this book.

The good=

Over the top jp mafia guy
Stalks her and bulldozers her life
Breeding theme
Trackers
Mine mine mine

The bad=

There’s a lot of berating
Threatens to find another woman

This story is mostly focused on the couple, there’s little backstory, if you want an easy OTT jp read and can overlook some asshole moments by the H then this will do. The bonus here is the heroine has been attracted to the H for years.

This is my first book read by Fiona and it's so fantastic! Milos Levin is the head of the Bravata in Chicago. One morning while starting his car a woman start beating on his window telling him there is a kitten in his engine and she's trying it save it. Celia Parker is a student wanting to become a veterinarian, her "dad" is the underboss of the Outfit so she knows and is used to the mafia way of life. Milos drives Celia and the kitten to the vet because it's been burned. Celia must foster the kitten for a couple weeks until it can eat better on its own, then Milos surprises her by saying he wants to adopt the kitten when it's old enough. For four years he takes care of her whenever she calls. Buys her a car so she doesn't have to walk in the cold, pays for her schooling when her "dad" stops, pays for her mother's cancer treatment and rushes to save her when she is attacked and left on a dirt road. For a week after the attack he stays with her and nurses her back to health. 😊 But then his brother tells Celia that Milos isnt sleeping and he's being taken away from his work. She decides to leave him and goes back to her parents house. Milo is ready to take a wife and start having children so he makes a deal with Celia's parents he will marry Celia or her sister, Carina. Celia is chosen but Milo can't let anyone know how much he loves her so she isn't harmed so his enemies can get to him. When the time comes for him to finally admit how he feels and everything he's done for her, it's swoon worthy! And she is also able to tell him how she feels too. The book ends with a sweet HEA and a pregnancy surprise. The model on the cover is perfect for the way Fiona described Milos. 😍

"Dying might be scary, but it’s easy. Nothing easier than letting go and slipping away. It’s the living every day, getting up and making it from one minute, one hour to the next that is love.” Love this so much!

I loathe books littered with constant flashbacks. It wasn’t even always immediately clear when it switched back to present. I don’t think I’m qualified to write a super informative review here because I got so aggravated with all the stupid timeline jumping I started to skim just so I could get closure without heavily investing myself in the story.

Aside from the ridiculously unnecessary non-linear storytelling I just wasn’t a fan of h at all. I’m rarely hard on heroines because I think most romance readers judge them way too harshly while celebrating the most obnoxious poor behaved heroes. I’m always discombobulated when I encounter a heroine that I just don’t like at all.

She was so immature it made me crazy. Like if you told me a teenager wrote this book I’d believe you. I don’t know how H stood to be in her presence for 5 minutes much less stalk her and be obsessed with her. The author never sold me on the authenticity of their relationship. I can’t fathom what H saw in her. I wasn’t a huge fan of him either though. At all.

They both sucked. The best part of the whole book was Hs interaction with his brother and his viciously angry wife. Despite not liking this book I could be tempted to give the next book a shot since it’s about that couple.

Since I skimmed so hard here I can’t completely be sure I didn’t miss important safety details so I can’t swear this is totally safe. I think it’s pretty safe. Definitely no cheating I’m not 100% sure that H was celibate during his stalking years. In the beginning h was pissed he had had a relationship with OW 5 months prior to start of book. I got the impression it might have been faked for some higher purpose but I’m not confident that he didn’t smex the OW.

Wow what a fantastic book this story has so much going on that it pulls you, the author Fiona Murphy really brought out the Mafia and Bratva lives and what either side would do to come to an agreement, that would benefit each other. These characters were unique they come to life in front of you and you also felt the pain. Celia Parker was treated harshly kept in her room, she had worked part time since she was sixteen years old she walked to work. Milos Levin is the Pakan of Chicago and more with his brothers help, he was out the front of a Mafia family while his brother had a meeting inside when he met her she was a spitfire when she made his driver lift the bonnet so she could get the kitten from the engine bay as soon as he touched her he felt that she was his. Celia didn't care who Milos was when she was yelling to get to the kitten out so when he took her to the vets he touched her and she could feel him and when he stood behind her she could feel his warmth and the zap every time they touched. As soon as she told him her age he moved away and went cold. He made sure she was protected at all times, he bought her a car, he paid for her studies he knew she would resent him if he stopped her like her father did he would go to any extreme to make her happy, but every time they had contact they could not stop the feelings getting stronger and hotter, their chemistry and emotions are very raw, rough, hard, intense and the emotions are like being on a rollercoaster ride. I would recommend buying this book to read.

i absolutely abhor timeline jumps books! nothing pisses me off more than present -past-present-past-present-present-freaking past!
i genuinely skipped to the end, just tell me how he admits he loves her and get it over with!

Though it had some of my fav tropes, this book was utterly disappointing!

I went into the book for possessive, obsessive Russian bratva but what i got was teenage angst!
god everyone was stupid in this book! even the MMC with the age of 33 was insecure teenager who made both of them suffer for 4yrs because she had recoiled just ONCE after knowing his family was into human trafficking but later due to MMC's influence they all got out of it.
its redeeming quality but she doesnt sees it neither does he!
the MFC was immature through out the book! given that she started off as a 19yr in the book it was excepted but there was never any growth!
lots of dub/con moments, one even where he rapes her and she is scared but forgives him!
him - i was rough with her but i still did it in love!
i rolled my eyes so hard !
He is manipulative and controlling in a toxic manner! yet she loved it!
she goes for birth control shots, he manipulates the dr to give her fertility shots! who does that!
instead of a daddy /breeding/bdsm this was more of guilt kink! every time she had degradation sex she wld feel guilty for enjoying it!
ugh!
her parents were stupid too!! its told that the parents were cold and unloving but with a plot twist that they actually loved their kids but were cold to protect them from a threat they couldnt catch hold of.
the father is top ranking mafia who couldn't figure out who was threatening his family & instead of finding out the threat he mistreats his daughters throughout their life to the point that anyone cld come and back hand her!!
slow clap!
90% of the book is in MFC's pov and i swear its the most annoying thing ever !
we rarely get glimpse of MMC and i wanted to smack him even in that 10% !
the writing was confusing with the timeline jump & sometimes the sentences wld start mid scenario! or it felt like it! supperrrrrr annoyed with the writing style!

reading this author for the 1st and the last time and this review is mostly meant for me to keep a track of what i dont like or like.

This was...FANTASTIC!!! The writing and the plot, the characters...So many emotions and you tugged on them well. These two are fated to be together. I adored everything. She is a doll and he's been looking out for her more then she knew. It was so romantic and sweet, sexy and hot.

She never wanted the life her mother had. Used and put aside, not officially claimed and yet still a literal servant to her man's needs. She'd met someone who invaded her heart, but could be true and not like her father? Who she thinks is the typical mafia man? He wanted her, he waited, but he couldn't let his enemies know his heart had been ensnared.

You...oh...you had me there with that OW situation. I was so angry but then happy as hell at the end. Like I said, emotions everywhere. Our h is a sweetie...this poor girl and her feelings just squeezed my poor heart and didn't let it go. He proved himself to be a man worthy of her and that makes me so happy. I love this world she's crafted and I can't wait for more. She is a new author for me and I will be looking at other books. Wonderful love story and so emotionally involved for me. This couple was amazing and I just loved them.
