Lost Siren #1

Ward's Siren

Rate this book
I was just a data analyst.
I paid my taxes on time.
I used to feed a cat that wasn’t my own and bake cookies for the office.
I was a good girl.
Then how was it my reward was to find myself penniless, broken down and stuck on the side of the road with everything I owned piled in the back, and all because I was being chased by the Mob?

But then again, I must have had some luck left or he wouldn’t have stopped.
My mystery hero. A man so handsome, he stole my breath and claimed it as his own, like the spoils of war. He asked me to get into his car, made me feel like he would take care of everything.

He certainly looked more than capable. Both with his intimidating size and the way he sat in the back of his expensive car looking more like some Lord of the manor, just radiating power.

But there was also something dangerous about him. Something dark and hidden, just under the surface. The way his heated gaze burned into me, as if he had the power to strip me bare and look deep into my soul so as he may judge its worth for himself.

That was why I had said no.

An answer I could tell he wasn’t used to receiving.
But instead of anger, he simply grinned and told me that he had a feeling he would be seeing me again.
That fate would intervene.
And that when it did…

He would be claiming his Lost Siren.

The .5 because I finished the book. This is by far the worst book I have ever finished, both by content and writing.
Reasons not to read this-
1. The writing. "?!" Shouldn't be used in any book. The amount of exclamation points on a single page made me question if the author knows why exclamation points are used. I could get into the word choice used throughout the book, but honestly I'd be here all day.
2. Horrible BDSM etiquette
3. Eden, our main character. I wish I had words for how badly she's written, but I truly don't.
4. Insta- love from sex.
5. The entire plot of the book.

Poorly written, even more poorly proofread.

I was intrigued by the premise of this book but 20 pages in I was wondering if the authors 1st language isn't English. The dialog is a hot mess. There are so many extra unnecessary words it was difficult to read. Did no one proofread this? Attempt to read any of it out loud? No one has inner dialogs with such awkward phrasing. I realized after the first hot mess scene with the two characters that I've attempted to read another series from this author and the writing was just as bad. Glad it was on kindle unlimited and I didn't pay for it.

Lost Siren series is based off in the modern world whose dark corners are very much clouded by the presence of friends from Hell.

The bookverse revolves around enforcers who are otherwise known to be the angels of darkness, tasked with the responsibility of protecting their king, Dominic Draven, who's on a mission to find that one woman whose existence solely revolves around grounding the volatile king.

It has been foretold that once the king finds his destined, all other enforces around him would also be blessed by the gods to meet their fated mates.

Ward Za’afiel is an angel of vengeance and fear, whose entire world flips upside down when he overhears the sound of a siren in the mortal world, the call so strong that it tugs at his soul. Relations, carnal or otherwise with mortal is forbidden but the darkness in him cannot resist the call.

Sirens had been banished to the human world all those years ago when Demeter blamed the sirens for Persephone's abduction, while Zeus, who was the actual puppet-master stepped away from the situation fearing his sister’s wrath.
“But then that was the most popular misconception made by humans, for not all Angels were good and not all Demons were bad. In fact, our world was a whole spectrum of grey areas just as the human world was.”

Now Ward has found his own Siren who calls out to both him & his darkness. And he is not letting her get away from him no matter what.

If you like your romances mythical with a very alpha male who's extremely OTT and over-protective, it's probably time that you begin binging on this series. The female lead isn't a pushover-

Okay she is, but you probably won't notice it. Eden’s independent enough but she doesn't stand a chance when Ward comes out with naughty, dark smoke fingers (yes, it's an angel of vengeance thing).

Ward's Siren ends on a cliffhanger so be sure to have the next book on hand!

Smut Scale : 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have always loved afterlife and transfusion but this book really wasn’t for me. The romance happened too quickly, which is probably because it’s a duology and not a saga, but I like a slow burn or at least a bit of lusting first. If you like books that get straight down to business, this might be one you enjoy.

I didn’t connect with either of the main characters like I have with Steph’s other books and there seemed to be a lot of inner monologue. There were also parts that didn’t make sense to me or seemed contradictory. I won’t be reading any more of the sirens books but will be reading the final book in transfusion when it comes out this month

Having devoured the Afterlife, Transfusion and Hell Beast sagas, I was looking forward to reading this new offshoot. Previously, the sagas seemed to intertwine to the extent that you knew of the characters in later books because they played parts in the earlier stories. I don't recall these character's ever being mentioned specifically before this. I mean, sure, in the back of my mind I figured Draven (from Afterlife) had to have more than his inner circle working for him as "enforcers" around the world. They couldn't do it all by themselves. So it interested me to see this spin off that is not so much BEFORE Afterlife begins but really coincides with its beginnings by subtly mentioning tidbits in the background with the few guest appearances of the Dravens.

As for the plot, itself, there are eleven lost Sirens cast out of Olympus who each had one chance of reclaiming who they once were only after discovering their fated one and being claimed during the Greek Summer Solstice. Ward, a high ranking Angel on Earth working as an Enforcer for Draven, believes Eden is one of them and has "called out to him" as her fated one.
This has all the usual drama, intrigue, and passion (very alpha male, dominant type fyi) that you usually see in a Hudson novel, but I was a little disappointed by the abrupt end. I know other offshoot storylines like Imp and The Beast were on the short side but if you read Afterlife, etc, you were already acquainted with the characters so had a lot of background on them already. This left me wanting more.
So....let's see what comes in the next book.

At the beginning of the book I was very hopeful that the female protagonist would grow a backbone, but for almost 50% of the book it’s like the male protagonist is walking all over her. She doesn’t have a voice and it was very frustrating. So frustrating that I couldn’t finish the book. On a side note it’s one of those books that gives two to three pages of unnecessary descriptions.

This was not great... it dragged and the plot and characters were kind of silly. It was hard to take it seriously - I only finished it because it was short and quick.
All of the good reviews make me wonder if the other reviewers have actually read books before....

Fine. Smut was hot but found it rushed into it, I wanted more build up. Also an awful lot of the backstory/lore was just info dump from the characters thoughts.

Okay I have to admit that I started this 📕just based on the recommendation of a friend and went in blindly not even seeking out whom the author was. Then I read our FMC was headed to “Afterlife” 🖤I was like… wait… what?!?! 😯 Can it be? 😯 Oooooh yes… yes it is! Hellooooooo, Mr. D. 😍😍 How excited am I to find more to consume about the world surrounding the King of Gods himself, 🖤Dominic Draven🖤.

Now if you have NOT read the Afterlife series, this runs parallel to that so while it won’t give you any true spoilers, it could definitely be a tandem read. This is wholly an enhancement to the full Afterlife experience💋. This book is somewhat on the shorter side so don’t expect it to go into as much world and character building as the others but, it definitely will give you the deets on our sexy MMC, Warden Za’afiel, aka hunka hunka burnin’ luv (Okay, I totally made that up but… it’s fitting… just roll with it.)

The tie-in is that once the King (Dominic Draven) 🖤 finds his fated mate who is promised to ground him (and his volatility), the other enforcers who run different parts of the world for him, will begin to find their Gods’ fated mates as well.

During this duration of this book, at times I found myself grinning ear to ear. A few times, I found myself audibly saying, “awwww.” Other times I did the whole “OMFG waving my hands around maniacally while lips were creased in a tight line beneath my teeth to keep from screaming…OH MY GOD!”

⚠️SPOILERS⚠️

This is the story of Eden, an unemployed data-analyst, who - through a series of unfortunate events because of trusting people who took advantage of her good nature (and her good credit) was now living in her car and on the run from a drug dealing mob boss basically because she was collateral. Did I mention that she’d had a shit hand dealt to her in life following the death of her mother when she was a mere 10 years of age?? Yeah… well, anyway.

She was on her way to Afterlife 😍 to see if she could potentially get a job from her only other relative she could trust who just happened to be a bartender there. Hoping he would understand because he, too, had been screwed over financially by the same POS. Unfortunately, on the way her “piece of shit car” overheated and she was literally stranded on the side of the road in need of a hero and boy oh boy did the Gods deliver. In a serendipitous moment we meet the one and only Warden Za’afiel (aka her hero) in his ridiculous, luxurious car pulling over to be her knight in … dark armor 🖤. He oozed confidence, arrogance, mystery, danger and an Olympic-sized pool of sex appeal.

The stranger’s driver repaired her car and soon they were to part ways. She was on her way. Ward, however, couldn’t shake the feeling that he needed to know her… that her “call” was to him and that she was indeed his fated Siren. A fact that he struggled with this because relations with a human in the mortal world is forbidden. But, as he believes her to be one of the descendants of the original eleven missing Sirens, he takes that chance knowing full well that if he is wrong this choice will be that of his own demise. The only thing that will ratify and confirm this resolution is the Solstice but that’s several months away. He feels this is the time he can introduce her slowly into his world.

He sends the driver to look for her while he meets at Afterlife only to receive word she’s nowhere to be found. But, as fate would have it, she winds up at the club after all (because remember – she wants a job). So, this is where their paths serendipitously cross yet again because she started creeping up the VIP stairs seeking audience with the DD himself only to be accosted by the guards. Her hero once again intercedes on her behalf and tells her to play along on the flirtations. This first kiss…. 🔥🔥HOT STUFF🔥🔥 He leads her to a private room and gives her the option of staying (and giving her the parameters of her acquiescing to cross that threshold) or going (yeah, right, he wasn't going to let her go). She thinks it’s going to be a one-night-stand because she's so not in his orbit, but is good with it because, let's be honest, he’s mysterious, commanding, oozing with sex appeal.. And YOLO baby, but he knows without a doubt that she is the missing piece to a life of ecstasy and completeness he’s never known and for him this is the first day to his forever as she is the one.

After their (ahem) relations 💦 she sees his true form in the mirror but she thinks she’s losing it. While he goes to take care of some pressing matters, she’s left alone but promised to stay (he actually locked her in the room) but she playing back what she saw in the mirror, she feels she should run as fast as she can. She does (and of course the shit hits the fan) – in the parking lot no less. Once more, she sees this Angel of Death in his true form as he protects her from the goons who has tracked her to Afterlife.

His honesty has her wondering if this can be real. Their chemistry is 🔥🔥🔥 He will help her avenge her transgressors, protect her, spoil her and teach her the true act of submission. Ward keeps using terms and pet names she isn’t familiar with… “Siren” being one so she flat out asks him. He decides to use a special evening out to give her a peek into their new world and answer her questions when the unthinkable happens… (yep – CLIFFHANGER!) ⛰️

===========

What I loved:
💖 Dark, broody, dominant MMC that ooze sex appeal 💪🏼
💖 Touch her and die
💖 His responses to her after reading her mind – Cracked… me… up!!!
💖 Her internal dialogue simply because – that’s ME! I’m just thankful no one is present to read MY mind.

Meh:
🫤 Ward’s excessive use of the word “fucking.” I feel it’s more impulsive for someone who has been around for eons and would be more… godly or regal… reserved? I don’t know. It just seems unnecessary (especially after reading Dominic’s reserved nature) that it was just out of character for someone who is supposed to be somewhat refined as those who have lived for eternity

SHITS AND GIGGLES:
🤣A few people claimed it was an unbelievable storyline because of the insta-love but isn’t that kind of what it’s supposed to be when you FIND your FATED mate? It’s instant. But then again, I laugh at those kinds of reviews because this is, after all, a FANTASY book about MAGIC and GODS and shit…. And a human who is a siren and her fated angel of darkness but you’re going to be annoyed that it was insta-love. Mmmmm okay.

SPICE LEVEL: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

FAVORITE QUOTES:
🥰 "I need more.”
🥰 "Ask it of me, Eden.” (I know, y’all, I’m totally a sucker for this shit.)
🥰 "But then my questioning eyes went to his and his eyes seem to glow once more before he nodded, telling me silently to go ahead, I could touch him.”
🥰 "Death waits for no man.”
🥰 "...and be warned beautiful… I am on the edge of darkness here.”
🥰 "I am your fated Angel… An Angel of Vengeance and Fear.”
🥰 "It’s okay. I get it… I mean it’s me and then there is you, and we are… are just…” “Perfect together,” he whispered.
🥰 "I even found myself raising my hand as if an impulse to touch him had been so strong, it had overridden all the reasons why I knew I shouldn’t. But I stopped because I wasn’t brave enough to touch such perfection like this without first feeling as if it belonged to me. Because a man like Ward belonged to no one. “Touch me, Eden,” he told me.
🥰 "Your thoughts aren’t helping here, sweetheart…”

Ward’s Siren is a book that has been split in to two with only the first half of the book yet released. The amazing thing is, it’s completely free and can be downloaded here.

Ward’s Siren is a prequel to Stephanie Hudson’s 1st Series of books, The Afterlife Saga. What I love about this is that the story has been written with new readers in mind so the book can be enjoyed by all regardless of whether you are already a reader of Steph’s books or whether you are a complete newbie to her work.

Stephanie has managed to write a fantastic story that has the ability to draw the reader in with strong characters including the irresistible, dominant, makes-me-go-weak-at-the-knees, not quite human, Warden.

The plot makes for rushed reading as you just get pulled in to the book and you want to know everything right there and then. Make sure you take a breath and slow down from time to time so you can enjoy the story completely! I’m just very impatient haha. I kept on feeling my heart racing and my eye’s trying to search ahead for what was going to happen.

Throughout the book I was and am completely invested in Eden and Ward and I just can not wait for part two and the rest of the Siren series.

*Bullets with key points are at the bottom of this Emoji Review!*

I just finished reading Book 1 'Ward's Siren' & Book 2 ‘Eden’s Enforcer’ of Lost Siren Series by Stephanie Hudson and they were GREAT 🤩! (FYI, I’m not affiliated with the author, not in the book biz, reading is just a HOBBY, and I’m just a regular reader that is super passionate 💗 about spreading the word on GREAT books!) There are NO spoilers! 🙌🏻

OK ✅! So the VERY first 👆🏻thing to mention is… if you LOVE ❤️ Afterlife, your gonna LOVE ❤️ these two books! And VERY next 👉🏻 thing to mention is… you DO NOT have to read ANY OTHER Stephanie Hudson book before this one if you don’t want to (but I’ll definitely give more info about this here in a min 😁!). Annnnnd… with that, the LAST ✋🏻 crucial piece of info you should know is… these are relatively short books (compared to her other books 😉) AND the story of each couple wraps up in TWO books! So there will be 22 books total, with two books focusing on a different romantic couple 👏🏻!

Alright, now that super important info is taken care of 😆… I really enjoyed these two books 🥳! Most people know that Afterlife Saga is LITERALLY my favorite series of ALL TIME 🕰 because I’m such a HUGE fan of the DRAMA 🎭 & the Alphaholes 🥵 that Stephanie Hudson EXCELS at! So because of this, these two books were SUPER NOSTALGIC for me and it was really FREAKIN’ COOL 😎 to walk into Afterlife again & run into some oldies-but-goodies 🙌🏻! But GOOD NEWS 👍🏻, the author wrote this in such a way that you really don’t have to read Afterlife first! But again, I’ll break that down here in two shakes 🤝 of a tail feather 🪶😆!

The story starts off with an independent 20 something year old data analyst (who is literally living in her car & has lost everything after being taken advantage of by someone she trusted!,) being BROKEN DOWN on the side of the road ... and wouldn't you know who pulls up in his SE❌Y A$S car with his SE❌Y A$S self 🔥🔥🔥! Talk about a DAMSEL in DISTRESS, y'all! 😍😍😍 So yep! Our girl is on her way to AFTERLIFE to get some help against some human mobster types from DOMINIC DRAVEN 😈 himself… to only run into one of his HOT 🥵 ENFORCERS first!

So the really cool thing is this book kicks into gear pretty dang quickly 👏🏻! This is not one of the longer books by Steph with all of the descriptive world 🌎 building thrown into play (although there is definitely world building in this book… and in some ways, more is explained about the Afterlife universe too 🙌🏻!) And this leads me to explain why you may or may not want to read this before Afterlife!

The plotline in this book takes place at the SAME TIME as Afterlife Book 1 🤯! It literally is just when the Afterlife FMC arrives in the USA 🇺🇸 and things are JUST starting to get cookin’ 👨🏻‍🍳 with her & her man 🥵! So really no spoilers happen in these two books 👏🏻! All of Stephanie Hudson books are ‘Fated Mates 💘’ tropes… so it’s not like you don’t know that the FMC is going to end up with the MMC 🤪😂! So not much of a spoiler there, folks! In ‘Ward’s Siren,’ the mystery 🕵️‍♀️ of Afterlife & Dominic Draven is explained relatively swiftly. Whereas in the book ‘Afterlife,’ it’s a BIG mystery 🔎 as we learn about the world at the same time as the FMC in Afterlife does 🤗! Things like… what’s the deal with this nightclub 💃🕺🪩 🍺🍷 called Afterlife? 🧐 What’s the deal with the owners of said club?? 🧐🧐 What’s up with all of this weird a$s sh!t the FMC is seeing & experiencing??? 🧐🧐🧐

So ‘Afterlife’ is like a slow entry into the world with tidbits being unfolded one DELECTABLE morsel 🍫 at a time! And ‘Ward’s Siren’ is like… “YO! This is the straight up deal-ee-oh! 🤘🏻” But the thing is! Some readers LOVE 😍 one approach and some LOVE 😍 the other (for example, I prefer MYSTERY 🔎, whereas one of my book besties just NEEDS TO KNOW RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND WHAT IS UP… *cough *cough, you know who you are girl 🤣🤣🤣!) So the good news… the GREAT news in fact… is you can’t go wrong with either approach! They are both FANTASTIC in their own way! So read whichever you want to first 🥳!!!

‘Ward’s Siren’ & ‘Eden’s Enforcer’ are really a GREAT 🤩 way to sample what Stephanie Hudson books are allllllllll about with ONLY a very small 🤏🏻 investment of time needed (if you have never read one before, that is!) These two books have the DOMINANT 💪🏻 , PROTECTIVE ⚔️, HOT 🥵 ALPHAHOLE 😠 MMC, the damsel-in-distress but BRAVE 🛡 FMC, the Dom/Sub STEAM 🌶, the supernatural 👹 😇 🧛‍♂️ 🧜‍♀️ flare, and the cinematic 📺 DRAMA 🎭 (seriously, any of her books could be made into TV series 🙌🏻!) I really think this author is just getting better & BETTER 👍🏻 with every book that she writes 👏🏻! In particular, writing-style-wise, I really loved 💜 how quickly this story kicked into gear, how short the chapters are, and the melodrama of the conclusion of each chapter! And although I love her long, detailed & complicated series in this universe (LAWDY we all know that I do by now 😅)… this series is like a COOL 🌬 glass of water 💦 on a HOT summer ☀️ day! Just a nice REFRESHING change of pace & oh so DELICIOUS 😋!

So if you like HOT 🥵 ALPHAHOLES that are DOMINANT 🪢 inside & outside the bedroom 😁😁, FMC’s that need saving, but also like to do the saving sometimes 💪🏻, STEAM 🔥 with a smidge of BDSM, and I mustn’t forge the “I will BURN the world down for you 😡!!!” kinda DRAMA 🎭 … give this a shot 🎯 ! It’s FREE on KU and you never know, it may just SING 🎶 🧜‍♀️ to you!

🧜‍♀️ EXTREMELY NOSTALGIC to Afterlife (if you LOVED Afterlife ... YOU WILL LOVE THIS! But you DO NOT have to read Afterlife first!)

This is a new author to me but from reading this book I'm sure it won't be the last of her tales that I'll read.
I found the story compelling so I read the book in one sitting.
I have only starting reading this genre about 6 months ago but I must say I did enjoy this tale as it zipped along at a fair pace. I can understand one of the reviews saying it all happens a bit fast but I really enjoyed it for that.
I felt this book opened up the world that the author has written about previously and was a great taster to help you understand what the other tales will be like.
I did enjoy the characters, sometimes a bit frustrated by Eden's inability to speak but it added to her fragility. I would like to know how the characters grow but I presume that will be in future books.

Stephanie Hudson has done it once again and never fails to disappoint!! She has created such a solid foundation with the start of "The Afterlife Saga" that every character she brings out of it just brings you deeper into that amazing and crazy beautiful world! Thank you!!

Now, as much as I love the cliffhangers, I also want to pull my hair out at having to wait for more! LOL That is truly an amazing talent! Absolutely devious! LOL

Something seems very 'familiar' about this book...

I decided to read one of the latest books by Stephanie Hudson after loving her first two books of the AFTERLIFE saga. I didn't finish that series due to the repetitive nature of the books. This author seems to have a habit of repeating the same information over and over throughout her books ad nauseum. This is something that I feel is unnecessary if you are writing connecting books. Mentions are OK but to write it over and over again... ugh!

But, enough about AFTERLIFE... this review is about WARD'S SIREN.

In this book, we meet Eden, a woman who has constantly been dealt a bad hand in life. After losing her mother, she tries to connect to what little family she has and gets in a shitload of trouble thanks to her stepbrother. She ends up on the run, looking for her wayward brother to get the money back he owes her to pay the debt. She meets a handsome stranger who helps her out as her car breaks down on the road. She's intrigued, but he comes off as a bit of an asshole. Yet, she feels an attraction. As luck would have it, she meets the stranger again. Where does she meet this stranger again, you ask?

Well, none other than Club AFTERLIFE. And who is this stranger there to meet? None other than Dominic Draven! Here we go again!

While reading this book, I found so many similarities to AFTERLIFE. Keira and Eden are both 5 feet tall, average looking, and aren't the snazziest of dressers. The events that circle around the couple are even similar, even down to Ward blushing and Eden teasing him about it. (Remember Keira teasing Dom?) The timeline of this book runs parallel to that of Afterlife, as Dom has yet to meet Keira in this story. The difference of the two is that Ward is quite hilarious and not a brood-ish and mean as Draven is, and Eden is more confidant and stronger than Keira. And there is a subtle BDSM dynamic between the two which gives the romance more of an adult-take than that of Dom and Keira's relationship that oftentimes appeared to be a little too "Daddy/little" for my taste. But the best part of this crossover was that I got to see my baby, Vincent again, who happens to be good buddies with Ward.

This ended in a cliffhanger. A very good one so I will be advancing on to the next book. If you liked AFTERLIFE and want a little bit of the same, this book will definitely satisfy you.

Sexy x2

It's been a while since I last read any books written by Stephanie and I'm glad I came across these four that I didn't know she'd written. The best thing about coming across books that have already been written is no longer having to wait for months on end. So this is a huge plus, but it also reminded me that I'd not checked her other books and found two from a series i had read long ago, so once I've read these, I can go back and read all the Transfusion books, to refresh my memory, before finally reading the two I've just bought and finally bringing them to the conclusion.

Now back to this one.

I love Ward and his other half, but I really hate how every conversation with Eden has him at least stating a couple of times, how "cute" she apparently is!! There's not a man on the planet that would do so. Plus his nickname for her is "Carino," which is Italian for. ...yeah you guessed it.....cute!!! So as a nickname it doesn't really gel for me, the reasoning is this ;

"You're so cute, my little Carino," is something he had said to her in the book, so this would then translate to this

"You're so cute, my little cute," but even if cute hadn't already been there, my little cute just doesn't go and no 27 year old woman wants to be constantly called cute!! I know I didn't.

But that is the only annoying part, it's just used far too much!!

Other than that, I loved the characters and the storyline. It's also small enough that you can read it just in the morning and the next book started later on, if I'm not too tired once I'm back home.

There's also audio for this and it's with two narrators I've come across before.

Amanda Stribling and Lance Greenfield, are a very capable and talented pair within this profession.

Although, if truth be told, Amanda does have more vocal range than Lance....sorry Lance 🤷🤷 but then again, it's not always easy for the guys to do a good vocal range in the form of a woman's voice. That said, there are many out there that can do a great female voice and manage to do a few more on top. Regardless though, the audio is still worth the recommendation along with the book itself 😏😏

not Stephanie’s best work

I’ve read of a few of Stephanie’s books which have all been major successes. Most recently, Hellbeast King. I was excited to read this series as I found I couldn’t but others down once I started… but this was awful.

In addition to the fact that the female lead is one of the weakest characters I have encountered, the writing itself is repetitive and dull. I couldn’t describe to you how many times the words “fuck you’re cute” or some variation were said. Cute this, cute that.

There is absolutely no build up to the characters relationship. They just find each other on the side of the road and then a few pages later they’re suddenly “claimed”.

There is even a scene which I think is super gross and rapey when I think the aim was to be sexually mysterious.

The back and forth monologue means that you end up reading the same stuff all over again without gaining any real insight into anything new. It’s as though the author was just trying to fill up a word count and thought, “hey! Here’s a great idea…”.

I would recommend Stephanie’s other books in a heartbeat, but this has been an unbelievably painful read and I’m just glad I somehow made it to the end so I don’t have to look at it again.

Wards Siren is the first of a duology in Stephanie Hudson’s Lost Sirens series, with another duology coming towards the end of the month.

This duology focuses on Eden and Ward.

I have not yet read The Afterlife Saga, so I was over the moon to find out this is a prequel to The Afterlife Saga as Dominic Draven has not yet met Kiera properly. This can be read and enjoyed regardless of whether you have read any of her books, or are a complete beginner, like me.

Considering Eden’s circumstances when she is introduced, penniless, broken down and stuck on the side of the road with everything she owns piled in the back of her heap of junk car, because she is being chased by the mob because of her stepbrother, she is still a strong character.

Then she meets the dominant and far from human Ward, who is one of Dominic Draven's enforcers.

The plot is very fast paced. The events in this book take place over what appears is just a couple of days.

Regardless to say Ward let’s her know right from the beginning that she is his to claim, and that she is now his to protect and ensure no harm comes to her.

I'm looking forward to Pt 2, Eden’s Enforcer which is released on 18th May.

In the Sirens series, always two books belong together, each telling the story of a Siren-Enforcer-couple. While there is a backstory that spans over all books, it can be skipped. It's also not necessary to read the Afterlife series beforehand.

#1 Ward's Siren and #2 Eden's Enforcer tells Ward's and Eden's story. It's written in dual POV, which works well here. Ward very quickly accepts his fate at his siren's side. Eden is literally overwhelmed by his dominance. He `s all consuming ... - Her soul, her body, and her mind.. - It`s all his (And boy, he's hot as hell. lol). The beautiful thing about Eden is that she doesn't let herself be intimidated and still expresses her own will. This is very refreshing.
But there are also enemies who are up to no good and underpin the plot with fast-paced action.
All in all, these two books are well rounded, so that they can certainly be read as a stand-alone.

I knew i was going to be in love with this story after reading the first chapter, this author can do no wrong in my eye's as her story telling is superb, she sucks you in to the the world of Angels & Demon's like no other.

Ward is a Enforcer for the European sector and answers only to the King of Kings Dominic Draven. He is on his way to Afterlife for his meeting with him when he comes across Eden who has broken down on the side of the road, he is drawn to her and unbeknown to him this was where Eden was also heading as well, Afterlife.

Love how this story unfolds and what these two characters mean to each other, but there are some bad people after Eden and that cliff hanger at the end has me thinking who the hell would dare take what doesn't belong to them off the Dark Enforcer. Can't wait for the next book to find out how this all unfolds.

Just a little disappointing with a cliffhanger

The idea of this book is great. I think the author dragged out the book unnecessarily then doesn’t end the story until I hope the next book. If the author spent less time on Eden’s thoughts and more time on understanding this world, I would have granted 5 stars. I love Ward who is true Alpha but man up and tell Eden , who you really are. It was just too much time spent on nothing. I will read the next book in hopes of more development of this world. The other issue…they live in a bubble. I love books when you get to know the world you are reading about. This is a book with so much promise. I really wish authors would just write and include good material and not fluff. During the sexual scenes, Eden thought too much. Damn, this guy is rocking you out and you can think. I don’t know about that.

Wow Stephanie Hudson has done it again, another amazing story from the Afterlife world, this one spreading out into Sirens and their fated. Edens life had changed so much since her step brother forced her into his criminal world but it’s about to change again when she comes face to face with Ward, who happens to be an Angel of Death.
Brilliant story and plot, loved the characters, of course a glimpse of the Dravens is always great, but loving Ward and Deke. Loads of angst, some seriously dangerous scenes, but it’s predominantly sweet and very steamy scenes. The ending is dramatic and left me desperately wanting to see how Ward takes revenge. Highly recommend to anyone who love the Afterlife world and all it’s supernatural characters.

DNF at 24%.

I don’t even know where to start. By far the most awful book I’ve picked up in a while. Bambling idiot FMC who had yet to say a complete and coherent sentence to the MC cause she’s so in lust and also drowning in insecurities at point I stopped reading. Mind you, she’s meant to be the spell weaver. I cringed as her inner dialogues sounded like she was 14 not 27, gosh, she annoyed the hell out of me. MC’s own sounded like he was a slimy 80 year old trying his luck with a young girl. The grammar, unnecessary words & descriptions as well as the setting in which an element of so called “BDSM” was immediately introduced after 1 meeting had me rolling my eyes & clinched it. No thanks!
