Wesley Hale, Alpha of the Night Claw Pack and Ceo of Hale Enterprises. He owns hotels and businesses that help support his large pack so they may live in peace. One fateful night had him scrambling when he realizes his cyber security wasn’t up to par, so his Beta makes a call that will change his life forever. Calling in a night shift technology specialist, Charlie Crawford, also known as Charlotte takes the call and heads into his hotel.
Charlotte has had a rough life, bouncing from foster care to foster care until she landed herself right in the hands of Roman. He once loved her but once the adoption papers came through, her worst nightmare began until she ran away at the age of fourteen. Always on the run, she used her intellect to beat the system and graduated college, picking a job where she could hide behind a computer.
That is until he claimed her.
Charlotte is shy, never trusting anyone but that didn’t deter Alpha Wesley. He was going to take this frightened kitten, help her grow to be fierce, but most of all make her become his Luna.
♥This book is in a series but can be read as a stand-alone. This is also considered an epic novel. Long slow-burn romance with adventure.♥
This book has mature scenes, abuse, sexual encounters, kidnapping and a whole lot of loving evil demon creatures and witches. Not suited for those under eighteen.
Possible trigger: physical torture/abuse, domestic violence, attempted rape, kidnapping
Setting in the same universe as the previous book this one also a romance between werewolf/shifter and a human. A human h fix computer problem that belong to an exact of one of the most important security company in the country. She fixed it, found a data leak, set up a firewall for him, and even find the hacker that hacking his computer. Unbenknownst to her that the CEO was actually her fated mate; an alpha werewolf/wolf-shifter CEO. One look, the CEO knew that she was the fated mate that he tried to find all of these years. But she was human. So, it began the courting.
Just like its prequel, I kinda hook up since the first opening. The book was long but the author kept making it interesting. Every time the story got to a conclusion, new things came up. I guess that's how this book kept me seated the whole time. The plot was interesting enough with secret of the past, bit of thrill of an antogonist/obsessive stalker, and danger that lurking on the pack as a whole. The smutiness was also okay-ish; quite a slowburn one with all the courting. I liked the courting.
The characters was also icing on the cake. I mean Im a die hard fans of kick ass heroine. Nothing beats a woman who were smart, independent, and able to kick ass any of bullies out there without much effort. And this h was one helluva smart cookie. She was smart, genius even, in terms of computer tech. And she was independent and tough too. Though she was vulnerable because of her pasts. The H was also sweet with how he appreciated her independence and kept her safe without being too possessive and constraining her independence. He didn't feel inferior with her smartness. Overall a good guy.
Virgin h Werewolf/wolf shifter alpha CEO H, human master student slash IT staff h Age gap romance (100 something yr old H, 20 yr old h) One mate for life, there's pleasure mate Mate instantly recognized through scent No condoms Dual PoV, 1st person Bit angst No cheating OTT instalove, though they didn't hook up immediately HEA, epilogue Overall score: 4 solid shifter romance stars
The writing is going to kill me. So so so repetitive "she quickly turned and walked away quick" "we'll provide a new provider for you". She uses the same word in the same sentence constantly. Also everyone talks like a robot "it is a nice day" "we will visit when we are done and it will be good" like girl, throw up some normal dialogue!
It's genuinely one of the worst novels I've ever read, and I tried to read the first book in this series as I was told they continue to get better. That book was bad. This was worse. The dialogue is awkward. The characters don't act how people would in those scenarios to the point that this feels like it was either written by a teenager or someone with zero life experience. The author also over explains things that don't require it and randomly diverts with information that had zero context to the story. She also attempts to drop hints, but it's like an anvil over the head. Also, every female character has pick-me vibes. They're all just catty and emotional and hyper sexualized. The male lead is supposed to be a rich and successful CEO powerhouse, and his inner monologue is like a teenage boy. Also, the repeating chapters? The biggest nonsense ever. It wasn't a dual POV that carried on. No, that would be illogical (insert sarcasm here). It was an immediate retelling of the ENTIRE scene from the other perspective. It happened constantly. I wanted to gouge my eyes out before I even made it 50% through the book, and I have no idea how it could have the ratings it does.
Same as with the previos book from this series, this book was OK, but i am not all that exited about it. There were again a lot of grammatical errors and sentences don't always go wel. The names from the characters in the book were sometimes mixed up. Those things made it for me irritating to read. Combined with the stortyline which in my opinion started to repead itself, made it for me to longwinded. I made it until 1/3 of the book... Editing of the book would aprove it significantly. Won't try another book of this author soon.
I could not finish this book. It was literally like pulling teeth to get the halfway mark before I quit. The writing and editing are atrocious and destroyed any chance of enjoying the story. I must've reported 20 or more errors just reading half. If this was one of those AI written stories itbwould maoe more sense. Hopefully, someone fixes this and reuploads it.
The writing is amateurish but has good enough bones that I wanted to see what would happen in the story. One of the signs of amateur writing is repeating scenes from opposing POVs because the author wanted to give both Charlotte and Wesley's take on events. So we'd get to go through a whole scene from Charlotte's POV and then would switch over and get the same thing from Wesley's POV. It was a bit annoying because it was like the story kept rewinding itself instead of just playing on and moving forward.
In terms of characters, you have a girl on the run who is such a genius, she managed to graduate from school early. She says she faked her identity to go to college but doesn't explain how she was able to open a bank account with her fake ID -- I assume she has a bank account because she has a legit job and also freelances, so there must be a way for clients to pay her.
She is on the run and has been staying vigilant in case her adopted father is looking for her, but when Wesley somehow knows where she's living without her telling him, she doesn't even ask him how he knows. She doesn't find it weird that under her employment contract, he would buy clothes for her or pay off her student loans. She happily goes off to live at his "family home" without doing any preliminary checks to find out where it is and if the location might be safe. It all doesn't jive with her vigilant and paranoid persona. She asks for a lock on her room door but it is never installed and she doesn't even make a fuss about it.
As for Wesley, if you're looking for alpha protectiveness (which is what I want in my wolf shifter heroes) this book does not have it, because Wesley utterly fails to protect Charlotte... repeatedly. It isn't that he doesn't care, it is just that he is ineffectual. Charlotte keeps having to save herself. He's like "I'm never leaving you out of my sight again" but of course he has to go on with life and his alpha duties, so he can't be attached to Charlotte's hip 24/7... and then she gets kidnapped AGAIN.
It's never explained why Charlotte could withstand torture that normally would kill anyone else (or if it was explained, I missed it because I was skimming). She is Special but the why of it is never discussed and so I have no clue what makes her so special. And how does Zachary find out about their connection? That also comes out of the blue with no explanation.
Confrontations are written weirdly, in a cartoonish way, with people screeching or screaming and acting over the top. Also why would a 45-year-old female shifter choose to portray herself as a 21-year-old human? Like, it would take so much energy to stay in that immature persona when she has so much more experience and knowledge than her peers. Just didn't make sense to me. Even Hades (yes, the god) was written to sound so young and immature that I think the author must be quite young, too.
I wouldn't read another book from this author, but I think the author has potential. The book could be pretty good with more editing -- not editing for grammar or typos, but to polish the writing.
I was really disappointed in this book. The story telling is ok but the main character is just a sap. She is portrayed as this woman who doesn't trust anyone, never has, is secretive and paranoid but within a few days of meeting this guy she's like hey this is what's happened to me. Il move in with you stranger, il share your bed, il tell you all about my horrible history.
It doesnt make sense, the relationship is rushed, she's far too trusting for someone who doesn't 'trust anyone'.
I couldn't even finish it. Everything makes her cry, she's forever crying. Again, she's apparently someone who doesn't show emotions, is reserved and secretive yet is a constant emotional wreck.
I couldn't even finish it. By the 15th chapter and another 'tears to my eye' chapter I called it.
The writing style is very wattpad/fan fic/teenage dream. Honestly, if you're like me and you love a good werewolf/fantasy/mates trope, don't bother with this.
Very long read with many twists and turns. I loved both Wesley and Charlotte. I wasn’t at all fan of all of the torture Charlotte went thru for her entire life. Loved the supernatural characters and of course the HEA
This book was really good I wished they let her be more into her computers she was going strong then it just stopped I liked the friendships of all the characters it was a good read tho
The MCs are Charlotte (Charlie for short) & Wesley (Wessie for short - his mothers nickname, also), & Remus (Wesley's wolf, Puppy (Charlie's nickname for him), oh also (Victoria - her wolf)
I wasn't a fan of her charging so low for her IT tech services, esp. fixing a hacking situation alongside virusus - $300 is laughable, I don't care who are...the level of tech she did first off/off the bat deserved way more than $300 - know of other books where they had teen boys charging more for ability. & they were just as well off/not well off like her, so, no, I didn't jive w/that little detail in the beginning.
As I further read, I wasn't a fan of the whole shy & timid thing but when it was revealed as to why, I understood it a little better, what with being tortured/groomed & all by a psychotic vampire intent on making her his "beloved" as opposed to "mate" for werewolves.
Then there were the few times the reader needed to know what was going on w/Charlie & how that delivery was done, basically how her past was introduced was a little cringy for me - it most definitly did not come across as organically, but yea...
the things I liked. I loved Remus & his playfulness, along w/her nicknaming him "puppy".
I liked her friend Ashley & was glad she had someone to trust.
the whole Josephine witch thing was odd. She was going out of her way torture innocents for the sheer hell of it? that was odd, had Roman beat her & taste her blood once a month under the guise of "maturing" her blood/their bond for the future, yet all he actually had to do to nurture said bond till she turned an adult age was be nice to her - so, Josephine was basically a serial killer of sorts
I adored the characters and the book was well written. There were a few grammer and spelling errors, but it wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t finish the book. I did feel that the book dragged in some areas. Almost as if I was rereading a paragraph. Particularly the amount of times the characters said “I love you”. It was sweet, but I felt it was a bit much. However, dispit all of that, I couldn’t put this book done. The characters made me laugh constantly and I really enjoyed seeing the Charlotte come into her new role as Luna. I look forward to reading more books from this author.
Reading the development of Wesley and Charlottes was a nice change. This was a slower paced story, nothing exciting doesn’t happen until about a third of the way in. It nice to read of the growth of the characters, and how the backstories of Roman and Josephine play a part in the overall plot.
It’s good to have an alpha male in touch with his soft side, but I agree with Odin, he went a little soft. Overall a lovely story with twists and turns, and very gruesome and hard to read when it came to Charlottes past.
I would recommend this book and others in this series.
I enjoyed reading this second book of the Under the Moon series by Vera Foxx. I liked Wesley and Charlotte as a couple and as characters more than the first books main MC and FMC. However, I am writing this review a month or so after finishing most of the books in this series and I could not tell you most of the plot of this book. I know Charlotte is a computer genius and Wesley is a big alpha on earth but beyond their characters, families, and friends, I don’t remember the actual plot making this story, in my mind, forgettable. I do remember it being a good read though and still highly recommend reading it.
Charlotte (Charlie) worked hard in life that was so cruel to her early on making a name in the tech world. when is called in when a data breach hits Wesleys big company, she manages to deal with it quickly, only to find out Wesley is her fated mate. the story has you hooked from the start, a long read but worth it with the detailed scenes and engaging characters. cant wait for more!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I cannot get enough of this series! Once again, Vera knocks it out of the park with how romantically in love this couple is with all the spice, suspense, and gore!
It’s a stand alone book but if you plan on reading the whole series, read “Under the Moon” first. The character’s stories all end up intertwined. You don’t ever NEED to know the other stories when reading the stand alones, BUT it makes them so much better to see little cameos of the couples you can’t help but fall in love with!
Sentences begin in one verb tense, end in another. Misspellings, grammatical, mechanical, and syntax mistakes abound. I don't think the author bothers to reread or edit after the first draft and am completely baffled how a publisher published without any editing. As just one example of the infinite errors in this book, the main characters eat breakfast go outside to walk in the woods and then wax poetic as to how beautiful the moon is that evening. Continuity cringe.
Does this scratch the alpha find human mate trope itch? YES. Does it also feel like 3 books in 1 and therefore bloated? also yes. My biggest gripe is that the character traits that made the first third interesting disappear for the rest of the book. She is a talented computer person and that trait is NEVER used again like: why??!? In a book this long leaving low-hanging plot fruit like that is criminal.
It followed the same basic plot line of book one. Kidnapped. Then talk of marking and then kidnapping again. But it also felt… new. Different. Charlie got to be her own person without much if any similarities to Clara.
I loved it. I love your talent. And I’m stoked for the new one. Here I come Osiris
My heart broke at times with this book. Poor Charlotte. I loved Charlotte and Wesley. Their meeting was so cute and I absolutely love Remus. Zachary and Charlottes relationship had me squealing and Ashley was awesome too. I really loved Astrid and Odin too!!
Amazing, amazing, amazing!!!! Like all your other books, I couldn’t put this one down either. I am so hooked with your work. Thank you for all that you do for your fans. Immediately transported into their world. I love all your stories. So, again, thank you. Loved it!!
This is a cute story. I love how she is very detailed oriented with the story. I feel bad that everything seem to happen to the main character but I guess if it didn't we would have a story. Worth the read.
Is a computer nerd who lived in foster care and has No knowledge of shifters. But her best friend and boss is solves. And she's the Alpha mate but have had a mysterious background. Book 2 in this sense.
Geez every time Wesley and Charlotte out out a fire another one pipped up. I really wanted to see what they did with Roman, I hope it was really painful. I really enjoyed this book, really and truly.
It's a really good storyline, but there's a bit of contradictory dialogue, a lot of editing misses, and sentences that don't work. Aside from that, the author is wonderful and just needs an editor and someone to critique the books.
The story took us from the human realm with a cybertech expert to the supernatural real from the previous book. You will laugh you will cry you will scream at some of the characters. But the characters do grow and we welcome the next generation.
I really enjoyed their story. I liked that this was different from the 1st book. Charlie had a tough love but with the help of her mate and ppl she values she gets through it. It's just crazy how the twist and turns the story took.
This book was a great read. I really love how all the characters come together and the female characters are so strong. Love it. This series is starting off great. Going to start book 3.
This maybe a standalone book but you really need to read to start it from the beginning of TBE series. Its all tied together and very well laid out. I love this book and can't wait to go on to the the next one.
I only read this one to continue the series. I wasn't very fond of the heroine. She's a shy reclusive virgin gone full blown porn star overnight. Little much
