When an oddball billionaire sets his eye on the local songstress and single mom, they’re Almost Sure. I want Quinn Darling with an intensity I’ve never felt, but she won’t have me. So what do I do? I make a move she can’t ignore. Sure, it may seem like I hold the cards, but she has all the power. The reality is, I’ve fallen for the one woman I can’t charm with money or material things. The more I learn about her, the more I admire her. And the more I try to buy her affection, the faster I seem to fall from her grace. She says she wants to know the real me—the man behind the billions. But I know better. For a woman like her, I’ll never be enough.

She was twenty-one and made to feel special by a man with money. He wanted her to be his mistress, and she knew what that meant and ended it. However, weeks later she finds herself pregnant, and she knows she needs to let Chuck know. You can only imagine how that went, considering he wanted to keep her a secret. Well, you’d be right. Chuck wanted no part of Quinn Darling, but specifically no part of the baby, Cara, to affect his life. He had his lawyer draw up papers to sign away his rights to his child, Cara. And that she could never contact him about, said child. As if. At that point, Quinn was only too ready to be rid of him. He had shown his true colors. On the night he asked her to be his mistress.

All was well until the last few months. When he made contact again. Quinn wasn’t a total shrew, he was still, Cara’s father. So over the years, she would let them speak to one another. It stemmed from Quinn’s daddy issues that she did not stick to her guns. Not to mention, he used intimidation to get his way, referring to his wealth and his ability to hire a lawyer to regain his rights. Of course, he has never helped Quinn with Cara’s financial needs to raise her, whatsoever. But, he did come in doing a Hail Mary hoping to get a sympathy vote from his daughter, which he did. Having her put pressure on her mom, who didn't need any more pressure. Considering she is trying to provide for her home plus two others.

Not only does Quinn own a music store, but she also works at a bar. Quinn does two sets of performing, where she sings, on the weekends while she is tending the bar. A newcomer to Silverton is Julian Grenier who happens to be a friend to one of Quinn’s best friends, Jamie Morris. They are developing land east of the city. Jamie has made it big but not to the status of, Julian who is a billionaire. However, Julian is on her bad side. He bought the building she wanted right out from under her. So, Quinn finds it eerie that he keeps attending both performances on the weekends. He is always doing multiple things at once so it just seems odd. He sits through both.

When Julian approaches her to hire her for a weekend gig he seems off just by the way he words it. Julian tells her he wants her to attend an event with him, just her, not the band or guitarist. The biggest red flag of all is he tells her the pay will be ten thousand dollars. The reason is that they will need to be away for thirty-six hours. She said no twenty-four because she has a daughter. Julian said sure. They work out the particulars and talk more in the car, but the gloves come off once they arrive at the event, and he must tell the truth. He just wants to spend time with her. Such a good book. Hits you in the feels a couple of times, too.

It's always hard for me to write a review for 5-star reads. But it's especially hard this time around since it's been a few days, and in those days I've read two more five star reads (which is a brag, because this is entirely unheard of). All this to say, there will be spoilers, and yet no coherency.

The only other book that I've read from Claire Cain was also in this series, Almost True. I remember absolutely loving the first third of that book, before getting bored in a middle section that dragged a little, and then getting absolutely furious at the late stage conflict that made no sense to me, and wasn't resolved in a satisfying manner. This is relevant, because it made me gun-shy to continue with Clair Cain, and I started this a little hesitantly. Right up until the point that I finished it I was wondering if it would suddenly take a turn (obviously it didn't). All of the things that I struggled with on that introductory read to Cain wasn't present here.

So what about Almost Sure..well obviously I loved it. So so much.

We open the book with Quinn absolutely hating Julian. She's find him abrasive, and she resents that his buckets of money meant that he was able to buy her building which was hoping to own herself. Julian himself (because we get both POVs) is drawn to Quinn. He sees acceptance from her as a stepping stone into acceptance from the town he's trying to make his home. The two end up more and more in each other's orbits and Quinn is forced to see Julian in a new light.

That summary doesn't quite do this story justice, but without writing beat for beat what happens through the story, it's the best I can do.

My absolutely favourite part of this book is the communication. That might sound cliche but I cannot stress enough how well it is done here. Julian is a direct person. It's what makes him come across as abrasive or brash at times, and that carries over into his interactions with Quinn. Quinn is similarly direct with Quinn. This makes for such fun story telling, when neither really back down from a conversation. Just excellent, absolutely brilliant.

Aside from that, I loved the characters as individuals. The development was well done. I really felt I got a real sense of who Quinn and Julian were, and they were very very easy to root for. Sprinkled in with that is that the tone was just right in this. For example, at the start of the book, Quinn does not like Julian at all and this is evident in every way. If tone is off, then as a reader I might view the situation as untenable. I might not like Quinn, or Julian as characters, or I might not want them together because their fights feel too heavy. But in this, you're able to enjoy (for lack of a better word) the disputes, because it never feels heavy (if that makes sense).

Even the late stage conflict (which is always difficult to stick) was done excellently well. It was earned. It didn't come out of nowhere. And it was resolved nicely.

Honestly, one of my absolute favourite reads this year, so seems I'll be dipping my toe back into the rest of the series.

Oh my goodness. I really enjoyed this book. This story has so much depth to it and so much to love. This is the third book in Claire Cain’s Back to Silver Ridge series and honestly it wasn’t one of the stories I was looking forward to. Why? Well, in the previous books Julian was such a difficult character to get to know and you almost didn’t like him because he was a “rival” for Bel’s affections. So when I heard that he was the main character of the book, I wasn’t sure what to think.

But thankfully Claire is such an amazing writer and was able to completely change my mind about Julian. Plus, seeing how he loved Quinn and seeing his thought process throughout the story made me love him too.

One of the things I loved most about this book, was that it was a different type of love to what I normally see in books. What I mean by that is, that many romance books just have the sparks and passion blaring off the page right from the beginning. This story is different. I felt as if this book focussed on more of a steady love. There was thought behind it, it wasn’t an overwhelm of emotions. Of course there were still sparks and passion, but they came with a whole other level of depth.

I love Claire Cain’s books and if you haven’t read any of hers, definitely check out this series. I know this book has just come out, but I’m already excited for what comes next.

4/5 ⭐️

“The idea that you’re with someone and they get you. And you do things for them because you love them. You take care of them without their having to ask, and it’s not a burden, but a joy. And those times when it is a burden, it’s still a privilege to be there for them in that way.”

Okay so surprisingly this is actually my fave story out of the three I’ve read so far. Julian’s directness was so refreshing- he literally says what he thinks and does what he says. Of course Quinn’s stubbornness was frustrating at certain points but it also make this whole story more worthwhile.

My only complaint is that I was expecting a bit of an insight into Julian’s past - especially his relationship with his mother because it seems to have affected him in numerous ways and I was disappointed when the book ended without that being addressed.

I was eager to read about Julian right when Calla mentioned him in the first book and he most definitely lived up to the hype I had created in my head. And sadly, I’m going to have to demote Warrick to second fave since Julian is definitely my first fave after reading this.

This was definitely a fun and chill read and I loved it. Looking forward to Wilder’s story next.

The millionaire and the Mon

Julian is good looking rich and a little social awkward with personal relationships. He has been drawn to Quinn since the first time he saw her but does not know how to approach her. Quinn is a single mom who is also responsible for her mother and grandparents. She works seven days a week and still worries about how to pay the medical expenses for her grandparents. She is also dealing with fourteen year old daughter who is being as difficult as a fourteen year old girl can be and dealing with the girl's father who wanted nothing to do with her and has now shown up wanting to start a relationship with her. Honestly I don't know what keeps her sane.

It was fun to watch the two spar until they got it right. Julian was a very interesting character and I loved getting his point of view as the story progressed. Naturally I wanted good things for Quinn because she certainly deserved them

This is the third book in this amazing series, and this is Julian and Quinn’s journey. Quinn is a singer, and single mom, who is wary of who to trust, and she is stubborn and likes to do everything herself, until she meets Julian, and he just wants to help her. Julian is a quirky, kind, and caring billionaire, who just wants to help Quinn, and show her that it is ok to let others in, instead of shouldering the burden on her own shoulders. This is a well written fun story, with trust, romance, intrigue, emotions, and love, which leads to a sweet, and heartwarming page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

A billionaire and a woman who isn't impressed by money & material things...let the fireworks begin! Although this is the 3rd book in the Silver Ridge series, it is the first book of Claire Cain's that I have read. I can honestly say it won't be the last!
I loved the dynamic between Quinn & Julian. It was endearing how he felt that although he was rich, he had nothing to offer Quinn. It was equally frustrating that Quinn was so stubborn that she couldn't see that she was standing in her own way.
I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series and any other books Claire has written.
I received a ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another delightful Silverton story with Quinn and Julian, who have been supporting characters in previous novels set in the resort town. I especially loved the focus on music and how it highlighted Quinn's considerable talents - has anyone made a playlist yet for this book!? Reading these Silverton stories is like listening to a favorite song. You can relax, enjoy, and hit all the emotions. Highly recommend! I'm already eager for the next book in the series.

Stubborn woman

Quinn sure had a lot of fire in her. Single mother and being the sole support for her extended family, she loved a lot but had a really hard time accepting help from others. Julian is kinda weird ... He reminded me of someone who has asperger syndrome due to touch issues and very regiment, however very successful billionaire. Full novel and no cliffhanger, plus a happily ever after.

Another Winner of a Story

I love this series! Every book graciously deals with hard issues, and I still get my happy ending. I wasn't enamored with Julian in the prior book, but I misjudged him, just like Quinn did. Once again, family and friend dynamics play a big part in the story. Daughter Cara made me laugh out loud. Seeing Quinn and Julian's relationship bloom was beautiful.

Sweet and slow

Over all good book. I got tired of the constant consent conversation. Just the general Thank-You and talking about them as a couple. The biggest thing that I didn't like was I wish the author had said Julian had autism. I've worked closely with people who are autistic and it would of been nice to see that in a book. I wish we had more information on Chuck.

Almost sure

Great story, Julian and Quinn, an unlikely couple, but came to know and understand each other. There were struggles, Quinn had a daughter, no dad in the picture, and this made her forecful and workng very hard to care for family and her daughter. Love can be found , enjoy their journey.

I loved this book so, so much! Julian in particular was a very unique character. I loved seeing how he and Quinn challenged, complemented and understood each other so well. Having two people who never seemed to be fully seen finally get that love they hadn’t known they ever would was so special. Great story and very well written!

Quinn and Julian’s story. While I loved much of this book, I wasn’t wild about Quinn’s response to Julian’s very thoughtful caring for her grandparents. But, everything ended up good, of course. The ending seemed to happen quickly and I had hoped for just a bit more. This series is good, hope the next book will explain Wilder.

Quick Fun Read

I love these series by Claire Cain! I love the group of friends/found family vibes. I love the strong MMCs that love and respect their strong FMCs. None of them are perfect (which I appreciate) and they work through their issues.
Some mild swearing (less than 5, no F word), and passionate kisses only.

This was a very interesting story. I liked the premise that Quinn didn't just fall for the billionaire. He had to earn her love. It was a really great story that is not like other small town, billionaire stories.

I feel like I must sound like a broken record every time I post a review of an ARC of Claire Cane’s next story but what a great one it is. Claire just nails the slow burn every time. Quinn and Julian- what an fabulous pairing of characters. We’ve seen Julian as an elusive and almost mysterious character. And Quinn breaks all that down and we get to see the caring and shy guy behind that mask. And what a firecracker Quinn is- and Julian just breaks through and get Quinn to realize that she can, indeed, accept help and fall in love. Can’t wait for Sarah and Wilder!

Swoon! When concrete, sequential dude meets heart cautious songstress, you get several failures to communicate. The best comes when they are able to trust each other enough to just ask the questions on their hearts and minds. I loved the angst behind each of these characters who desperately wanted to be with the other but had to work their way through their own unique character traits. The author’s writing style draws you deeply into the storyline and you find yourself committed to seeing these two find their way to each other. The epilogue was such a nice little glimpse into their future- the whole book made me smile! I highly recommend!

Ahhh, I just adored this book! It was simply perfect. Almost Sure is the third book in Claire Cain’s Back to Silver Ridge. This was just so much fun! I have been waiting for Julian to get his own book and it was just as good as I had hoped.
Quinn was a fun character, she was stubborn and knew how to get her way but she was also at the end of her rope. Quinn was trying to do so much and she just didn’t know if she could handle it anymore. But she still tried. It was sweet to read about Julian trying to help her and Quinn learning to let him. She was warrying of trusting people, but Julian managed to break past her walls. However Quinn will have to learn that accepting help from others isn’t a bad thing and that she doesn’t have to do everything on her own.
Julian was such an interesting character. He had a lot of quirks and it was cool to finally get to know more about him. Although he came off a bit standoffish, he was kind and he cared for those around him. I really liked Julian and it was fun to read about him interacting with Quinn and to read his thoughts. Julian had to work through what it would mean to love Quinn and if it was worth it.
The characters were on point and it was so fun to get to know Quinn and to see Jamie again. I love getting to see old characters. Quinn’s daughter, Cara was also a great addition to the book. I found her relationship with Julian so sweet. The romance was so sweet and I really liked the progression. It did not feel too fast or rushed. Quinn and Julian were so different and yet they were perfect for each other. They were able to be themselves and trust the other to still love them.
Almost Sure was a wonderful book. The characters were engaging and I was drawn into the story from the beginning. I really enjoyed this book and I am beyond excited for the next one. Almost Sure is a closed door contemporary romance.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

"For the record, don’t apologize if you touch me. When you touch me. You are welcome to do it whenever and however you like.”

I’ve been curious about Julian since the first Silver Ridge Resort series, and his book more than satisfied! I always love a good aloof, stiff hero who has to figure out how these unexpected **feelings** work, and watching Julian turn mushy was *chef’s kiss*.

Quinn Darling says what she thinks, and she is NOT going to roll over and take it while this billionaire swoops into her town and puts her out of business. She tells him off and, miracle of miracles, he listens. That act of kindness snowballs into more, until Quinn isn’t sure the man she imagined him to be actually lines up with who he is.

Man oh man, this one had me! I love how Julian's hopes for the bare minimum with Quinn—maybe she’ll tolerate him, maybe they can be friendly—eventually snowball into wanting *everything*. Watching a buttoned up man who thinks maybe he can’t feel that way get totally destroyed by his love for this woman is my CATNIP, and Claire Cain delivers. Reading her books is always a big emotional ride & I love it!

Definitely pick this one up!
