A tip from New Jersey authorities points Deputy Sheriff Mark Pollard and the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force to the New Hampshire home of the homicide suspect’s mother. While traversing the Granite State, information gleaned from warrants, surveillance, and even some unsuccessful interviews, narrows their focus. Through the sarcasm and ribbings of long days, bonds between members of the team strengthen as they work to gain the upper hand. While hunting a man they’ve never met, the group also forges an unlikely bond with their prey.
Though a crime fiction novel, “Collateral Lead” provides a realistic and inside view at how teams like this track dangerous fugitives across the United States every single day. Follow along and see why Ernest Hemingway stated, “There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.”
“Collateral Lead” was composed by an author that has lived his research. Stephen Colcord graduated from Fairfield University with a degree in Sociology in the spring of 2001. Shortly after September 11th that fateful autumn, he took a job in law enforcement. Since that time, he has been behind a badge and on the streets for more than two decades as a Police Officer, Deputy Sheriff, and Special Deputy United States Marshal. Colcord’s debut novel “Collateral Lead” is the first installment in the Deputy Mark Pollard Series. The second book in the series “Failure to Register” is also available now, with the third book in the series expected in 2023.
A great read for anyone who is interested in the process of locating and capturing a criminal. Extra special to me is that it takes place in New Hampshire. Excellent read.
A real look at how US law enforcement track down criminals. Not spiced up like a hollywood detective but how its actually done. This book is a page turner and you wont be able to stop until you finish it, trust me, I couldnt!!! Great book Steve I look forward to the next one!!
