This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Quantico Profilers series. I found the characters fun to follow and get to know. I found the romance to be slow and sweet. I loved the suspense and mystery to be great, and I did not guess the twist. The only thing I did not love in this book was that the characters were still going out and about even what someone kept attacking her. I really loved the ending. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired Suspense) or author (Jessica R. Patch) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
Whoa! Just...gulp..edge-of-your-seat and (sometimes) hide-under-the-blankets stuff! There's an extra zing of tense that comes with this story. A serial killer stalking Brigitte is 'eek' enough, but then Patch throws in some gasp-out-loud twists and I couldn't do anything but speed-read through to the end, holding my breath all the while.
I like the profiling aspect to this series (this is the second Quantico Profilers Thriller book but can easily be read as a standalone.) It adds an extra 'oomph' to an already thrilling read. 'Thriller' is in the series title for a reason! Packed with suspense and action and enough heart-in-throat moments to create a super-charged read.
And the suspense is not to be outdone by the romance! Wary and rocky though it may be. I do so love when a hero or heroine (or both) are blindsided by love when they least expect it.
May there be many more Quantico Profilers Thriller books to come!!!
I loved it! The author did such an amazing job keeping the suspense and mystery at high octane. The poor heroine was running from bullets and bombs all the while taking care of her father. The hero was busy trying to keep her safe and piecing together the clues to the killer.
I couldn't put this book down. Also, the age gap romance was well done. This may very well be my favorite Love Inspired book by this author. Which is saying something because I have enjoyed all of her books. *I was given a copy of this book by the publisher and this is my honest opinion.
Cold Case Killer Profile by Jessica R. Patch is the 2nd book in The Quantico Profilers series. It’s a whodunnit that you just can’t put down. Forensic artist Brigitte Linsey discovers a dead body in the desert where she is painting. The Sunrise Serial Killer strikes again. Brigitte is his next victim. FBI special Agent Duke Jericho comes to Los Artes, Texas to help finally capture the killer once and for all. He teams up with Brigitte to work the case. Hopefully, they’ll discover the killer before the killer makes Brigitte his next victim.
Cold Case Killer Profile is the perfect thriller. You have action, suspense, a faith element, romance, and plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end. It definitely keeps you on your toes. It’s a clean mystery with a faith aspect. I love that. It’s nice reading a top notch story that doesn’t include cussing and sex plus isn’t afraid to talk about God. I really loved how Brigitte describes things. She so visual. Definitely an artist. You’ll see once you read the book. I loved Duke and Brigitte. They weren’t very much alike, but they got each other despite all their objections and obstacles in the way. I can’t wait to read book 3.
I was given a copy by the author, but all opinions are my very own.
This book is nonstop! From the very first chapter, there’s so much action! The chemistry between the characters and their personal stories are so good. I was completely shocked by who the killer was—I never put the pieces together. Although this is the second on a series, each book can stand alone. I’ve already downloaded the first book, though, and I can’t wait to read it.
'I feel like I'm in a nightmare I can't wake up from.'
Jessica R. Patch is a huge favorite of mine and I never miss her books. They are all on my shelves and some I've read more than once. She is a master at inspirational romantic suspense. She has a mind that thinks up great plots and characters and great bad guys. If you can call a bad guy great, that is.
Here she has created characters that just absolutely leap off the page. Agent Duke Jericho was one and he was super cool! I loved him from the minute he walked onto the page and into my heart. This story was so good, too. A cold case crime where the killer decides he needs to up his game and begins again and the clues are few and far between. But there is a new wrinkle in the case, one that is threatening the woman trying to solve the crime, police officer and artist Brigitte Linsey. Can they solve the crime before the killer takes his ultimate victim? Will Duke and Brigitte let God paint their story? (Pun intended) I loved this story so much. I always eagerly anticipate Patch's next book. I highly recommend her work. Well done!
My thanks to Love Inspired for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion here is my own.
The second of a series, Cold Case Killer Profile also works as a stand alone. This book has it all: faith, suspense, intrigue, romance, mystery, action, and is a bit of a thriller. Brigitte, a police officer, and Duke, an FBI agent, must find a serial killer who is linked to unsolved cold cases before he manages to make Brigitte his next victim. I enjoyed this book and recommend it if you like action-packed suspense. I received an advance digital copy in exchange for my honest opinion
I have never had a story draw me in so quickly! There was not a moment to rest in this story. The action and suspense were in constant play. The characters immediately drew the reader into their story. This is a story you will not want to put down! #coldcasekillerprofile
I loved it! The author did such an amazing job keeping the suspense and mystery at high octane. The poor heroine was running from bullets and bombs all the while taking care of her father. The hero was busy trying to keep her safe and piecing together the clues to the killer.

"Cold Case Killer Profile" was a fantastic read! This book had such a twist that I never saw coming! The characters were very well developed and likeable. I was hooked from the first page until the very last. Jessica Patch has become one of my favorite romantic suspense authors. She has such a knack for drawing you into her books, and I love her twists in her novels. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy good, clean, romantic suspense novels.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
Read this in one sitting. It was so good! A short read that will keep you engaged until the end! One of the many reasons that I love this author! She's so good at what she does! A little romance thrown in and you'll have an exciting book to read. Not too wishy washy at all! Lots of twists and turns that was my 2nd favorite thing about this book. 5 stars that will keep you turning the pages until the end! I was a very happy camper! I highly recommend Jessica's books! She's just that awesome! I'm still thinking about this book and the characters that had gone on a journey of their lifetime. My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Are you looking for a great suspense book that you just can't put down. One that will have you on the edge of your seat. One that when you finish it you think "Wow! What an awesome book, this one just blew me away. I was not expecting the twists and turns and the ending". Great writing, great characters and loved the story line.
Brigitte is an artist and she loves to paint desert sunrises. She is also a Police Officer. She is investigating the Sunrise Serial Killer. Duke is an FBI agent that has been assigned to help her solve the murders.
If you love suspense stories you will not want to miss this one.
this is a story that will capture you at the start and not let go to the end. bridget works for the police but also paints . and is in the desert getting ready to paint when she find a body. and someone attacks her , duke is an fbi agent sent to find out what is going on . he is trying to help her and protect her from attacks. if you like supsense and some romence you will want to read the book very good i was given a copy by netgalley but this is an honest review
Cold Case Killer Profile was an extremely action packed story! Right from the beginning, Brigitte found herself in extreme danger that didn’t let up for the entire novel. This book is the second in the Quantico Profilers series, but reads as a stand alone novel.
I really liked the two main characters, Duke and Brigitte. They developed a great connection together, however, there were reasons that both of them were hesitant to marry anyone. I liked seeing how they resisted the attraction to each other the best they could, even as it was very clear that they cared for each other.
This story had lots of great twists and turns to it and the leads into the investigation that Duke and Brigitte followed slowly yielded new evidence with each discovery. I hope to read the next book in the series, too.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Cold Case Killer Profiler by Jessica Osborn Patch Brigitte Linsey is an artist, she loves to start her day in the Chihuahuan desert painting everything from the plants to the animals to the mountains. Her favorite to paint are the mountains. Spending the morning painting helps to center her spirit to be able to do her day job. Brigitte is a Los Artes, TX police officer. She takes pride in being able to catch and put away criminals. One morning her 2 passions collided. The wind had picked up and while she took a moment to pull her hair back into a ponytail, her eye caught sight of something purple & yellow in a sea of desert brown & olive green. She went over and realized it was a woman who had been laid out as if she was relaxing, as if she was there to watch the sun rise. Her stomach clenched, the Sunrise Serial Killer. It had been 6 years since he last killed but most law enforcement are familiar with the case.. And in her personal life she is helping her dad cope with the diagnosis of Alzheimer. A devastating disease. FBI Special Agent Duke Jerico was posted in El Paso, TX after Quantico. When he received the call about the woman that was found in Gran Valle he went and set up a command post before going and speaking with the officer who found her. He found her at the nursing home, just like the officer he spoke to said. He knew from the officer that her father was dealing with Alzheimer, a horrible disease that no one should have to live with. It takes a lot out of the caregiver as well. Neither Brigitte nor Duke had a mate, they both put everything into their jobs. Brigitte saw the way her dad doted on her mother and how she did not return the love. Brigitte wanted more, a love that added to her life, a love that is returned. Duke was coming off a bad divorce, his wife had an affair with his best friend, best man at his wedding. So neither is looking for love. Yet! Thank you Jessica for allowing me to be on your launch team. This story was really good.
Cold Case Killer Profile is an outstanding book! Jessica R. Patch has woven together a story of intrigue that grabs the reader’s attention and won’t let go until the end of the book. Brigitte Linsey, police officer and artist, has to work with FBI Special Agent, Duke Jericho, to figure out who the Sunrise Serial Killer is that’s murdering women in West Texas before Brigitte becomes his next victim. Cold Case Killer Profile is unputdownable with a great balance of suspense, fear, hope, faith and romance! I highly recommend this book! I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. I was only asked for an honest review. The opinion stated here is completely mine.
Another THRILLING story by one of my favorite authors! Jessica Patch knows how to make you stop breathing until the end of the book! Hold on for the ride of your life. This book is packed full of action and suspense!
All Brigitte wanted to do was start the day with painting and a quiet sunrise in the desert. She had so many things in her life that were stressful, and she just wanted calm. Little did she know, that was ALL going to change! Duke only wanted to get the job done and go back to his quiet life alone. YUP, that was about to change too! OH. MY. GOODNESS! Jessica Patch doesn’t let her characters rest for even one day! These two went through so much, that I was having a hard time breathing. There were also a couple of times I had to put the book down because I was fearful of what was going to happen next to these two characters. I love this because it makes the book go fast and furious. But poor Brigitte and Duke go through so much I can’t believe they are still standing! WOW!
I’ve said this before, but I’m going to say it again - When reading a book, I always try to place myself in the main character’s life. Well, with either of these main characters I think I’ll pass! NO THANK YOU! Too many near-death situations.
I love reading Jessica R. Patch's books! She does such a wonderful job of putting twists and turns in her stories, you never really know who the bad guy is until the very end. I thought I knew this time. I even told my husband that I knew who it was, and then BAM, I’m wrong and it’s not at all who I thought it would be! I love mystery and suspense, and solving crimes, but Jessica Patch has such a skill that totally threw me off, and when I got to the “who done it” part, my mouth dropped and I knew WOW, this is a great author! I highly recommend picking up this book. However, I need to warn you, that you might not get much sleep until you finish reading it! I was given this book by the publisher and in no way did it influences my review, all opinions are my own.
A suspenseful intense story with two characters who need each other. Secrets kept can destroy, but in the end can also bring people together. Couldn’t put it down.
Thank you to NetGalley and Jessica R. Patch, as well as Harlequin for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. Wow! The mystery in this book was taut and kept me guessing until the satisfying conclusion, that I have to say completely knocked my socks off! My mouth is still hanging open after reading the ending of this book! Brigitte Linsey is an artist by night and a forensic artist with the police department by day. When she stumbles upon a body one morning while painting, she has to run for her life. She also realizes she has stumbled upon the latest victim of the Sunrise Serial Killer who has been haunting the women of Los Artes for decades. The Sunrise Serial Killer strangles his victims and then poses them in desert. Can you say creepy?? FBI agent Duke Jericho gets called to the scene and immediately realizes that Brigitte is in imminent danger. She has "seen" the elusive serial killer, and he is not happy. This plot line is intense for you as the the reader, but you will not be able to put it down. You will have to know what happens next. The characters and their engagement with one another were interesting to follow. There is an undercurrent of romance between Brigitte and Duke as they race against time to stop a killer. I think my favorite character in the book was Mrs. Kipling. She was in the room next door to Brigitte's father in the care home. She was a blind lady with faith like a mountain and such a sunny disposition that she could light up a room with her positive outlook on life and her faith. I feel like I could sit and talk with her for days.
If you like a fast-paced, fascinating mystery, you will dearly love this book. Jessica R. Patch knows how to write thrilling suspense-filled books, and she does not disappoint with this one!
If Jessica R. Patch’s second Quantico Profilers installment, Cold Case Killer Profile, isn’t at the top of your To Be Read list, it should be. Brigitte is a police officer and an artist, both forensic and landscape. Her paintbrush wields gorgeous sunrises as masterfully as her pencils bring victim’s memories to life on a page. She’s out in the desert one morning capturing the beauty of the rising sun when something catches her eye in the distance…a dead body. As she goes to investigate, she’s attacked from behind. The Sunrise Serial Killer is back after years of silence, killing women whose eyes are like “a star before sunrise”. Duke is a special agent profiler with the FBI, sent to work the case in tandem with the police departments in whose jurisdiction bodies from the SSK have been found. After Brigette is lured to a false call, attacked and her partner injured, she goes on leave from her department…but not the case. She teams up with Duke. Between trying to find a killer now out to get her, she’s dealing with her father’s Alzheimer’s, as well as battling her own sense of loneliness. Her mother gone, her father ill (most days he doesn’t know who she is), and no other family. Duke’s haunted by his own demons…a failed marriage that leaves him doubting he can ever risk open his heart to another woman again. Duke and Brigette work very well together, and quickly develop respect and caring for for one another. But can each of them let the Lord open their hearts enough to let the other in? While Jessica creates a fast-paced tale of gripping suspense, it’s also the quiet and gentle, but frequent, reminders of how the Lord sees us and loves us that have a hold on this reader. I truly hope there will be a book 3 in this series! I received a complimentary copy of this book, however my opinion is entirely my own.
"Cold Case Killer Profile" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the second in a series, but it works as a standalone. Duke and Brigitte worked well together as a team. Duke and Brigitte respected each other's abilities and personalities, and they came to care for each other as they got to know each other. Both were reluctant to marry anyone due to witnessing bad marriages in the past.
Duke and Brigitte asked questions and followed up on leads. The mystery was a clue-based puzzle to solve. I suspected whodunit early on and the clues were consistent with that, though there were other possible suspects. The suspense came from repeated attacks on Brigitte and other possible witnesses to the identity of the killer.
The Christian element was trusting God through tough circumstances. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable romantic suspense.
I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
Brigitte is a forensic artist who loves painting and does it on the side, unfortunately for her while looking for an inspiring landscape to pain she stumbles upon a body and killer. The manages to get away and now the killer set his sights on her. Duke is a FBI agent helping out and keeping her safe and finding the person behind it.
This was such a nonstop ride. I loved that the killer was keeping the characters and readers on their toes. There was clearly something going on and I couldn't wait to see the bigger picture as the pair piece things together. I also enjoyed the bit of romance that was going on between the two and that it had remained clean. I loved that I just couldn't wait to see what happens next as I watch the killer getting more bold and out there with stalking her and strikes against her. Just a great read I really enjoyed it.
This is book two in the Quantico Profiler series but I read it as a stand-alone and it worked fine. The full throttle, creep factor kept me reading quickly not to mention the twists and turns that are thrown in along the way. Be prepared for edge of your seat, looking over your shoulder moments. The reveal of the serial killer is like wow factor. I loved how you feel like you are putting the pieces together with Brigitte and Duke. Victoria was a precious Godly woman and I was thankful for her character and her prayers. The romance added a lightness to the story although it is brief. You will be glad you added this to your TBR pile. I won a copy of this from a blog. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
This is a book about two people who "know" they don't want to be in a relationship. Funny how you don't always get you think you want.
Brigitte and Duke have things in their past that lead them to believe they are not relationship material. However, when they work together to find and stop a serial killer, they find they are just easy with each other. This interplays with the solving of the crime which has a twist for an ending that you don't see coming until just as it does.
I read this in one sitting.
I did receive an ARC of this book from the author, however, that did not influence the review that I am leaving.
Jessica R Patch has the ability to draw you into her story and make you oblivious to everything and everyone around you! Duke and Brigitte's race against time to keep her alive sweep us up in a suspense, drama, faith, nailbiting, not sleeping, don't stop reading conflict where the villian will keep you on your toes untill the end! Brilliantly written! This is the type of story that makes you forget tv and rather read a book!! Will I recommend this book to anyone? 1000 times yes!! You will not be disappointed!!
Wow! Just as the beautiful descriptions of the surrounding scenery at the beginning of the story caught my attention, the power packed excitement quickly began and kept me engaged until the end. This is a mystery that is filled with unexpected events and surprise emotions. Great story. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
Jessica Patch has written another winner. I loved this fast paced romantic suspense. Suspense fans will not be disappointed. My thanks to the author for my advance book.
Every time I pick up a Jessica R. Patch novel I know I am in for a real treat – one that is far more chilling than ice cream. Cold Case Killer Profile was all that I expected and a little bit more! Seriously, it's up there on my list of favorite Love Inspired Suspense reads for this year...
Cold Case Killer Profile was a gritty and intense read for such a small book, only 220+ pages, but that is something that, not only does Jessica R. Patch continuously deliver, but she seems to amp it a little more each and every book. As good as this one was, I can not wait to get my hands on the third Quantico Profilers novel.
When I first started Cold Case Killer Profile I was a little surprised when I discovered that Jessica R. Patch had used one of my, albeit secret, favorite tropes that is rarely used outside of historical romance and Gothic romance – that is the distinct age gap between hero and heroine. Boy does it cause problems for this Love Inspired Suspense hero and heroine, but, you know that by the end of the story they will somehow work things out...
The Quantico Profilers series has been really great reading that keeps me on the edge of my seat and carefully analyzing the clues to see if my hunches are correct. And, Jessica R. Patch is a good one for my guesses to be right...and wrong...at the same time...Cold Case Killer Profile certainly had a few of those surprises come my way...
Now? Now, I play the waiting game for the next release...
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Cold Case Killer by Jessica was an intriguing and action packed romantic suspense in the inspiration genre.
Brigitte is out painting and stumbles upon a murder. It ends of being a victim of the Sunset Serial Killer. Duke is a profiler with the FBI and is brought in to help on the case. They have instant chemistry and respect for one another. I liked that it wasn’t all physical. You could see how they were respecting each other.
A secondary storyline was of Brigitte taking care of her dad with Alzheimer’s. It is heartbreaking to see what the family goes through.
Duke was a great character. I instantly liked him when he entered the scene. There was a lot of action in the first half of the book and the second half of the story took us through the working of the case file info and the new leads.
The author did a great job creating enough suspects to keep you guessing. And I was satisfied with how it ended.
Sexual content - kissing (1) Violence - (2) serial killer, several people die and we revisits some of the prior murders No drinking, drugs or profanity.
received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. You can see my full review at More Than a Review dot com where I rate the level of sex, violence, language and drug/alcohol use in books.
Cold Case Killer Profile is the second book that I have read by Jessica R. Patch and it won’t be the last. It is also the second book in the series Quantico Profilers. It is about the Sunrise Serial Killer who has resurfaced after many years. Brigitte, a forensic artist incounters the serial killer who is still staging his latest victim and she barely escapes with her life. Enter special agent Duke who joins Brigitte in the perilous search for the Sunrise Serial Killer. Brigitte is now a target of the serial killer and because Duke is working with her so is he too. Will Brigitte and Duke survive and figure out who the serial killer is in time, read Cold Case Killer Profile. Cold Case Killer Profile was a good blend of romance, suspense, and faith and I enjoyed reading Brigitte and Duke’s story and can’t wait to read the next in this series. Though it wasn’t quite as good as the first book in the series it was still a great story and I recommend it to lovers of romantic suspense.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
