Invited by the guildmaster, Ryoma attends a training meetup for new adventurers as one of the teachers. On the second day of the camping lesson at the Poison Bug Plains, he teaches unique ways of building bases and methods of telling the edible from the inedible in ways that are easy to understand, drawing everyone's attention. Then, at the request of the students, a mock battle is held between the teachers, and Ryoma demonstrates how to use a bow in combat! And as usual, there are new slimes, revolutionary discoveries, and Ryoma himself obtains unexpected skills and levels up in more ways than one!
The story continues and I really enjoy reading about a boy and his slimes. I like the character development and to see how the characters mature and interact with each other. the pictures drawn for the story are a nice touch and bring the characters more three-dimensional. For me the only thing negative about this book was it was too short hope the next one's a little bit longer, I can hardly wait.
A tad slow entry into the series, but still somewhat enjoyable. What I did enjoy though is how Ryoma's psyche, morals and scruples were examined, and it was refreshingly honest how he can be ruhtless and unscrupulous if he so chooses, but most of the time he still prefers peace. Glad to see that the author is not trying to make him overtly cute, but more believable as a man's soul in a boy's body.
The 6th volume in this series. I honestly devoured this. We get to see Ryoma fight, get introduced to more characters (this time some Ryoma's age) and we get to see more of characters from previous volumes. We also get to know more about Ryoma's life before he died. I want to say what really sets this series apart from other isekai stories is how much character Ryoma has (in my opinion). I know some call him boring, overthinker, unrealistic, to passive, and more. But, I really like his personality and the way he sticks to his morales and ideals, and this volume really shows this side of him. Would absolutely recommend this series. Should also add in that this is nowhere near excellent writing and there are plot holes every now and then, but it gets a 5 because I have read this series multiple times (I reread the whole thing every time a new volume is released) and I find new things to love every time.
Not the best volume of the series. The series is slow paced paced, but it felt particular slow in this book. No real progress and a lot of debate on social issues. I saw another reviewer mention slavery as a contradiction, but I think the author (or translator) has a different idea on what slavery is then what most western readers are familiar with. A salary is mentioned, they have rights and can pay of their debts to get free. I probably would have used the term indentured servant. Still, I enjoyed reading it.
This book is a bit more solemn than the others in the series (so far).
I'm not sure if it's just because it's been some time since I've read the previous books or this book is simply just a bit more serious than the others. The solemn tone of it probably came from the fact that this book highlighted Ryoma's thoughts. Ryoma started to think more of how others think of him and also more of what he wants to do in the distant future.
The talks with the gods and godesses made him think of quite a number of things. The talk with Lulutia's group was serious and I like how it tells more about Ryoma as a person. At first, I think of Ryoma as this person who maintains the status quo since whatever comes his way, he lets it come and handles them with grace and calmness. But this book, especially with that scene with the goddesses, showed that there are things he actually wants to do with clear determination.
It's nice reading about him having fun with his slimes. Each time he gets a new slime or his research regarding them progresses, I find myself having fun too haha it's nice reading about MCs having the time of their life.
Lots of thoughts regarding the Sea of Trees. and while Ryoma is crazy strong, it got me thinking if we're getting a tamer's guild 2.0 where he'd be discriminated for his choice of familiars.
Another thing to note, I like how the extra story at the end where the landlady, the reporter, and tabuchi talked kind of matched with ryoma's story about the mugger's incident. I like the connection there. He had such a hard life on earth that the people who knew him there started to realize how much of a bad luck he had too. It's interesting to see how the books show the contrast of him having so much fun now vs. his previous life being such a sad and hard life before.
It's also nice seeing the money pour in for Ryoma! I have always been a sucker for business stories and it's so fun watching his laundromat and other side-jobs grow.
There are more thoughts but this one's getting awfully long lol anyway, I'm excited for the next!
It was rather sad how Ryoma remembered how his best efforts at training others in his old life only resulted in misunderstandings and accusations, but it was nice to see how his training at the camp helped him be more confident in himself.
It was very interesting how the Sea of Trees was a holy land without a Divine Beast. I wonder if that will come into play in the story later.
The gods also mentioned briefly about Ryoma’s upbringing that was irregular, which was intriguing when combined with their comments in earlier volumes about the earth god’s interference in Ryoma’s life.
I think the translator mistakenly translated the landlord as a landlady. It might be a new translator and maybe they didn’t have it mentioned on the style sheet.

A must read. This whole series is superb. Ryoama may be ok but the story avoids much of the cliches involved with that. It is fun with just enough drama in it. Can't wait for the reunions. I'll be buying the next volume as soon as I have the money to do so. Great job Roy, and keep up the good work. Can't wait to read more. Can't give you enough praise. I do hope there will be more of the anime as well.
Unlike many other story, this series has not diminished in it's quality and draw . As with volume 1 once started you will not put it down until you have finish reading it.The growth of the characters and environmental keep your attention while drawing you in to want more.
Takebayashi keeps on chilling in another world. If you think of it as an RPG, which in all honesty isn't all that different from an isekai novel, Takebayashi is just doing some easy side quests without progressing the story.
More like 4.25 since this volume is already a new territory to me, so to speak. And it's nice to read new adventures for Ryoma that's not anime based. But I didn't think I'd be able to read it this fast, though. 🤔😕😁✌️
Got a bit of a chuckle from the elaboration on why Japanese people tend to be chosen for reincarnation in that world, then showing another perspective or "reality" right after
This is a series I greatly enjoy. I first started watching it as an anime but over the last couple years haven’t really watched much tv so i decided to read it. I always find reading to be a better experience and I don’t have to wait as long to get to the next part of the story unless I get to the unpublished portions of the story.

I have read the series before and now I am listening to the audiobook version by Tantor Audio. I think I liked the written text a little bit more than the audiobook. It is pleasurable listing to the audiobook version of a well loved story during my morning walks.
