Destiny is one thing. Survival in the face of evil is a different matter.
What started as normal days for Finn, Cerys, George and Arlene didn’t end that way. Their world got turned upside down.
Ancient history and birth destiny have cast them into a centuries long battle in a parallel existence between two ancient clans, the Tuatha and the Fomorie across Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.
Can immortal mythological guardians sent by the Tuatha intervene in time and save Finn, Cerys, George and Arlene from the Fomorie? Are they really the four young warriors as foretold in an ancient Prophecy? Will they be able to use the hidden gifts they supposedly possess to defend themselves against the Fomorians?
“Prophecy” is the first book in the Tuatha Legends Series. This Fantasy Series will take you on an adventure through time and history. It features wonderful characters with landmark locations, mingling mythology with swords and sorcery and the odd dragon in a classic battle of good versus evil.
I loved each of the characters and their back story’s. Some of them really shocked me and were really cut throat which I like when an author isn’t scared to be. I loved the family dynamics of each child how you saw so many different types of families and types of kids and their attitudes and upbringings and styles. It really felt the world I know was in these books which was cool so many references that I was like I USED TO DO THAT WITH MY FAMILY etc … I loved the way they all met a mentor And each one had something unique to them. I found I loved Finn,George and Cerys story the most I felt immersed in their story’s and didn’t want their story’s to end. Even though I don’t normally love multi POV’s I found this one great I loved that it was an introduction. I can imagine the next books are going to look at particular characters. And I actually liked every POV. I loved the descriptions of the world around each character and felt I was right there with them !
Things I found a little hard to read.
So when things are explained a lot and I understand the need but in my head I assume the reader is smart and doesn’t need to be reminded many times. It’s nice to have a mystery and to have an Aha moment. Like when it says “Donella, the strange lady who had been talking to them previously, burst through the doorway” we met Donella quite a few times before and we know she’s weird but we learn her name and we know she’s fighting the guy outside the house and then disappeared again. So something like that isn’t needed in my own opinion. Sometimes the conversations felt a little scripted and unnatural like the conversation is being the narrative voice rather than what people would actually say to each other. It makes sense of course and it’s not every conversation, it’s a good story bit it just takes you out of the world a little bit.
Overall I really loved this book and can’t wait to read the rest! It was a quick read too and the chapters were a perfect length so I was never bored! The characters are very likeable and I love the mesh between the modern world and the old. It was fast paced and I found that the author takes risks and is ruthless with characters dying which I liked. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*3.5 stars* If forced to face a destiny you never wanted, would you fulfill it?
Prophecy: A Tuatha Legends Story by P.M. Gilbert is the first in Tuatha Legends Series and focused on the prophecy of four warriors coming to save the day. Think of a darker Narnia type of situation. Arlene, Finn, George and Cerys have a destiny that needs to be fulfilled, whether they want to or not. Can they save the Tuatha from the Fomorie?
Overall the premise of the story is fantastic! The idea of regular everyday people suddenly being thrust into a world they didn’t know they were destined to be a part of is fun, exciting, and adventure packed. I also liked the intertwining of historical things, places, and experiences along with the magical side and Arthurian lore. Who doesn’t love a good Arthurian lore story, right?
On the other end, there was a lot of exposition right at the beginning along with telling rather than showing throughout. To enhance the reader experience, being more expressive and creative (showing not telling) in how the descriptions and events occur would make a huge difference. As for the exposition, it’s something that is needed, but the way it is presented doesn’t have to be right in your face, it can be subtle.
This would be great for readers 14/15+. Anyone who loves a shortened epic fantasy, destiny and prophecy based story, and urban fantasy will love this. Oh and let’s not forget the Arthurian lore and historical aspects, which would excite many readers.
Next Book: Gathering: A Tuatha Legends Story

Slow read for me but looks to be written for young kids.
This book is a the of background of 4 characters and how they start on their path to their destiny. It gives only a little detail about their destiny and may be a good lead into an interesting series and should be more of a prequel.
This book seems good for any age. I was just slow at reading it for many grammer errors which I hope was fixed by editing before release. If not there are extra words on most pages that are put into a sentence in two spots when it should only be there once.
I decided to read a different story since I’ve been binging for awhile and needed a break from my usual genres. Well if you are going to start a new series you aught to start with the prequel.
This is an interesting place and people. The names are vaguely Celtic. But the warring tribes are like no other I have read. Giant warriors, immense war horses, magical weapons, and fearsome creatures. including massive bears that one group has managed to tame enough to ride into battle. Can’t wait to start the series.
Four youths (Finn, Cerly, George, Arlene) are destined for an adventure that will awaken who they really are. All the challenges that they had to overcome so far was tough but hopefully they will realize with the help of their guardians that they are destined to do good no matter obstacles.Very adventurous and intense at times but overall it was a great book with amazing characters.
