Weaver by Tish Thawer attracted my eye with its beautiful cover image. The story of a young woman, a witch, searching for the man in her dreams was another appeal. Weaver is a story that can be compared to a placid lake flowing serenely without causing any ripples or flutters.

Milly is content to be alone in the world, spending time with her 'familiar' in her garden trying to follow all her mother’s teachings to live as happily as possible. Her only contact in the outside world is a librarian who provides companionship for her lonely heart. So it was not really surprising for Milly to fall headlong into a relationship with Roarke the man in her dreams.

The concept of a dream weaver influencing dreams around the world and the search for his Queen were quite intriguing and the author has developed the plot in a fascinating way. The dreamy world that is conceived by the author helps the reader to travel along with the protagonists to different parts of the world and I loved the different places the story has been set in. What I would have loved in the story is more depth into the relationship that develops between Milly and Roarke, the love is instant which is quite understandable seeing that Roarke has been searching for hundreds of years and Milly knows in her soul that Roarke is the one, however, the problem I had is that Roarke’s character remains like this confusing enigma. Just like Milly, there is so much of his magic that was not completely clear, and that part of the story, I believe could have been fleshed out better.

Weaver is easily an enjoyable read without much angst or involvement, a fast-paced read that was good for afternoon fun.

Many thanks to Net Galley, Amber Leaf Publishing, and the author for a chance to read and review this book. All opinions are expressed voluntarily.

This has some good parts, some meh, and some a bit lackluster. 3.25 stars rounded down to 3. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Milly has a problem, no man in the waking world can compare to the man in her dreams. Using her family's inherited magic she is determined to make him a reality. With everything she's ever wanted within reach can Milly accept her dream man's offer? Or is something more sinister at work, leading her to live in a nightmare?

Weaver is a fun quick read for those looking for a stand alone romance. It tends to be a bit cliche at times, but there's nothing wrong with that if you're not looking for an earth shattering/original read. Authors have found a formula with romance that works so we see a lot of elements repeated throughout our preferred genres. Weaver is one of those that you can curl up with to fill your time between those reads leaving you hungover. I enjoyed Weaver, I just wished that the beginning bits were a bit more condensed and the turmoil of the book explored more(I can't go into details without spoiling the pieces of the book which made it worth reading, so pardon my need to be vague).

3.25 stars for a book that I didn't love, didn't hate, and didn't regret reading. Recommended for readers who enjoy otherworldly romance, men who like to woo, and a pinch of magic. Age recommended for 16+ as I don't think this book could hold the interest of those younger/who enjoy faster paced stories not so focused on romance.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this Arc. 💛

We're plunged straight into the story where Milly keeps on seeing the same stranger over and over in her dreams. Whom turns out to be her destined lover, her mate, and also known as the weaver. Then she goes on an adventure to figure out who is the weaver, the concept and the person, and how does a person goes on about being their queen, wife, companion, soulmate. They keep meeting in her dreams and changing the location of their liaisons, I thought that was quite whimsical.

The heroine reminded me a lot of Sabrina. While we had lovable characters, the build up between the two of them needed more time. Their relationship was very insta lovey, which I wasn't a fan of.
Finally, the plot was a bit confusing. It grabbed my attention the minute I started reading but was kinda messy.

Weaver by Tish Thawer drew me in on the very first page.

Milly, a 19 year old witch is used to spending her life in seclusion. She only has her familiar, Jinx, and her trusted librarian friend, Keelyn.
That is, until she meets a mystery man in her dreams who calls himself The Weaver.
Milly finds herself enchanted by the Weaver and his world, while at the same time doubting herself and his intentions.
By the end of the book, Milly grows into her own, and in doing so, unlocks her true destiny.

The descriptions in Weaver were magical, and beautifully written. They made it easy to picture myself in the book. I loved all of the spellwork and kitchen witchery.

At times, I found the main character, Milly to be too insecure in her decisions. Thankfully, her character developed confidence in herself and her situation during the course of the book. I do wish we would've been given more time with The Weaver, or maybe his point of view.

Some parts of this story feel rushed, but all loose ends are tied up, and there is a satisfying ending.

It was a quick read that I finished in a day. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves books about beautiful magic, dreams, and finding your destiny.

I received this e-book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

What I enjoyed the most was the world building! I love the the cottagecore vibes, the use of herbs and nature spells, the lore of Weavers. It was amazing! I just love it. The writing was nicely paced and not hard to follow, another plus point!
The romance for me felt a bit rushed. Maybe it's just me, and I know it's a standalone so it might be a little difficult to make it slowburn. I also realize it's a soulmate type of love, and instant connection is expected. However, I did expect more elaborate connection between Milly and Roarke so their romantic relationship wouldn't felt too instant.
But overall, I had a lot of fun reading! It was a strong effort for a cottagecore witchy romance and I love it!

Have you ever read the synopsis of a book, and thought ooooowwww this looks good, and then to start reading and get the ick straight away? Yeah, this was one of those for me, in the ten percent I managed to get through I came up with these thoughts, the main character Milly seriously has some boundary issues, and the writer hasn’t thought the plot through, I mean come on, your mum just keels over one day when your thirteen and what, you live on your own in a cottage in the woods by yourself for then on, with only a local librarian as your only friend?
I’m sorry but this book is firmly in my nope pile!

Weaver is a mystical fantasy novel about 19 year-old Millie. Visited in her dreams by a mysterious man, Millie begins her journey to unravel the mystery about him and the dreamscape.

This novel hits the ground running and there's barely a stopping off point. As a lover of quick and fast-paced reads this book was perfect for me. Weaver gives that comfy cottagecore vibes with Millie in her little witchy home in the forest. Add in a sprinkle of mystery and intrigue and you've got this story.

Millie was an enjoyable character to read about and despite her relationship seeming a little rushed and a few questionable choices, she had a well-rounded journey from beginning to end of the novel.

The magic system was unique and the dreamscape was a wonderland of intrigue. I believe the Dream Weaver magic was explained pretty well as understanding how their magic worked was imperative to the story.

Moreover, Weaver was a refreshing, quick read about a girl chasing love. I'd recommend this novel to anyone who wants to read a story with a witchy cottagecore vibe and dreamy mysteries.

I was offered this Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This is a wholesome story about witches. Millie is a witch living a secluded sort of life, alone in her cottage with her familiar and only going into town for the local library. I mean, it’s not a really bad life is it?
Her life is monotonous until the men she sees in her dreams becomes a reality. He is the Weaver, responsible for everything that happens in people’s dreams. And he is looking for a Queen of Nightmares which means that Millie’s hereditary magic makes her a perfect candidate.

While trying to understand what her role as the queen is, Millie comes to the realisation that there is a thin line between dream and reality. And sometimes the nightmares in someone’s dreams come to life because of their shared magic. She’s not comfortable with that reality and she has a choice to make between her newfound love and a healthy conscience.

The twists made it so interesting and they took me by surprise. It was such an easy read, I managed to finish it in one sitting and most of the time I was very curious where the story was going.

The only negative for me was that their relationship seemed rushed at times, especially if you consider that they would only interact while she was sleeping. But I was rooting for them nonetheless.

Initially I expected the Weaver to be a bad guy deep down because it seemed to me that everything was too good to be true and I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was slightly hoping for a morally grey character who will sweep her off her feet, but he is just as nice as originally portrayed.

I would rate this book 3 stars out of 5 because it wasn't a favourite, but I appreciated the plot, the writing and I would recommend it to anyone 14+.

Alone in her cottage in the woods, hereditary witch, Milly, longs for connection. But when it comes to her in the form of a dream weaver, she gets more than she bargains for.

I LOVED this short witchy read so much that I instantly ordered a copy for my a friend who also love witchy reads. Milly's journey was all it hoped it would be and more, and the dynamic between her and her love interest, The Weaver, reminded me so much of Addie LaRue. While parts felt rushed and could have been more fully fleshed out, I still walked away feeling very satisfied. I suspect that's partly due to the author's ability to weave ritual magic into the plot, but also because this book was so atmospheric. It certainly reignited my desire for all things witchy, which means there will be more witchy books in my feed well in advance of spooky season. Be sure to add this to your witchy read TBR this Fall!

Weaver by Tish Thawer is a young adult fantasy novel which follows a 19-year-old witch named Millie who is visited by a mystery man in her dreams; she later comes to learn he is "The Weaver," Roarke, and the two of them embark on quite the adventure in and out of the dreamscape.

I had high hopes for this novel as I started to read: there are so many elements of this that I'm obsessed with... the witchy nature, magic and especially the analysis of dreams. This novel had the potential to go so much deeper, but it felt so rushed and truly incomplete.

The romance was extremely cringey to me, and with the type of problematic morally grey characters I'm usually obsessing over, you'd think Roarke would check some of those boxes, but honestly...no. I didn't care for this romance one bit, it actually made my skin crawl a bit at time. It seemed desperate at times, and the possessive/obsessive nature that seems to exist from the get-go was a real disappointment. I'm usually really into the banter and play that comes from this type of dynamic, but it seems just so so young...and immature.

This book is a QUICK read, clocking in at just under 210 pages, you can quickly get through this in one sitting if you had the time. The style in which the book is written is easy to comprehend and was fun at times. It wasn't poorly written, but it just seems like there could have been so much more to give the story the depth it needed to be a more immersive experience. There were moments were I felt engaged in the magic and interested in what was going on with Milly's own understanding of dreams and magic, but it was short lived.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for the ARC in return for honest feedback.

THANK YOU to Amber Leaf Publishing & NetGalley for sending me this ARC. All reviews are honest reflections of my own opinions, always.

The Weaver has such an interesting premise; girl takes hold of her own destiny using magic & determination to pursue the mysterious man she sees only in her dreams. However, I DNFed halfway through for several reasons:

-The author’s use of showing over telling makes it difficult to be immersed in the story. The characters are bland, the world building weak, the plot uninteresting. I did really love her cat, though.

-Annoying use of the word ‘sexy’ for the most absurd observances concerning the picture perfect-cookie cutter ‘male’. Even for a YA story, this would be considered irritating.

-There seems to be some editing issues, but as this is an ARC, that’s to be expected to some degree. I do hope these don’t slip by (the inclusion of a name that is introduced several pages later really threw me)

-Instead of a magic system, occultism is used. While I absolutely adore a good magic system, the use of occult spells, kitchen/hedge witchery is not something I enjoy reading, & I fully understand this is personal preference.

-The romance. Insta love bordering on unhealthy obsession, with a good dose of manipulation to boot. About halfway (where I stopped) the sex scene I instinctively knew was brewing but hoped wouldn’t happen came around. While not gratuitous, I definitely feel like the book is written for those chasing semi-spicy book themes.

I recognize & respect that different readers enjoy different books. I’m also thankful for the opportunity to review ‘Weaver’, even if in the end it wasn’t a book I enjoyed.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and leave an honest review for this book.

This was a super fast fantasy read and I love the witch world it gives but I will say a lot of stuff is going on in a short amount of time. I feel like it was very rushed and was lacking a lot of info.

Also the concept of Milly falling for Roarke in literally like 2 days was weird for me. I feel like the story should have been slowed down and there should have been more world/story building. Like I said previously it all felt rushed. The last few chapters is when everything happened and ended.

This book gave kid vibes, so in my opinion I feel like this book would be for 8-12 year olds. It did have like two curse words in it but the story felt very kiddy like to me. The writing to me seemed very child like with the way the characters spoke to one another. It didn’t feel like they were adults even though Milly was 19. If they hadn’t said an age at all; I honestly would’ve thought they were children. I’m not saying the story was bad at all. It was a fun read, I just wish it was, I don’t know, more. I wish there was more to it if that makes sense.

I gave this book 3 stars.

Cover reveal coming May 10th!

Thank you Book of Matches Media for an e-arc of this book, all thoughts are my own.

This was a quick read, I was able to start and finish it in a day. It is a young adult fantasy, and definitely felt a little young at times, but I enjoyed the story and was really pulled into it. Some of the interactions between Mellie and Weaver felt a bit stilted in the beginning, but they quickly caught their stride and I ended up wanting to root for them in the end.

I did feel like the romance was a bit rushed, especially in the beginning, as they were admitting their love for one another so soon after meeting. I just missed out on some of the romantic aspects of their interactions, but as the story progressed I was better able to see their feelings for one another and their love made more sense. In the end I was hoping they would end up together, and I was even hoping that the guy would not end up being evil! I mean....what a betrayal that would be.

There is a huge emphasis on trusting your gut in this book, as we see time again as Mellie encounters a new obstacle. She is really good at taking a step back and looking at all angles on a situation before moving forward, and I love that she had many remembrances of her mother and made an attempt to be the best witch she could be. She made an effort to do the right thing when it came to magic, and I loved all the little spells the author wove throughout this story.

The story itself was very intriguing. I am a fan of dream magic, and I think this book had a unique take on it. Of course there is a curse so there is a bit of nightmares sprinkled in too, but that is just the main hurdle the characters have to overcome. Millie goes on quite an adventure, both within and outside the dreamscape, and I loved watching her figure things out and discover new things about herself and magic along the way.

Overall, I thought this was a fun book about magic that can easily be read in a day, even if the romance felt a little lacking at first. The dream magic feels unique, and having a non-world ending curse tied to it felt like a refreshing take in the fantasy genre. This book has a huge emphasis on following your gut, and trusting the ones you love, and I think it was really well written.

I have so many thoughts that I’ll probably be adding to this review over the next few days.

First off, nothing was wrong with this book per-say, but it just lacked a lot.
-Roarke is given not past and we don’t know much about him at all. He is borderline stalking Millie. We don’t know anything he likes or any of his past and you never do. He does stalk her dreams.
-Millie just worries so much. Everything she doesn’t know, she just worries about and does her little magic spells.
-Besides three other minor characters, there is literally no one else in the book. Millie is so isolated and alone that she doesn’t talk to anyone. Like the character list is so small and that could be ok, except that character we are given aren’t fully flushed out. The entire book is a group of five with some unnamed background characters.
-The entire romance plot is just creepy. They meet in a weird way and with how isolated Millie is, I’d be calling the police on Roarke. It’s kinda Stockholm syndrome-y. He brushed all her questions aside, which we find out later on was because he didn’t know.
-Also, the author reveals his name before she is supposed to in a mistype, which was really confusing to read.
-The entire book is slow until about 80%. I was about ready to give the book up. It draws you in at the beginning with descriptive language, but that gets old super fast. The author also uses Millie doing everything instead of telling the read what’s going on, which also got old quickly.
-Finally, the whole occult magic system was not my thing at all, which does depend on personal preference. If you don’t like that magic, don’t read the book because it’s everywhere. It goes against my personal beliefs, so it was hard to push myself to read and I don’t agree or like it at all.

I really liked the concept of this book - Milly is a witch who keeps seeing a strange man called the Weaver in her dreams. She learns that he controls the dreamworld and wants her to join him as his queen in order to bring balance to his power and to the world, but of course there’s a catch.

I feel like this had potential to be a lot better if there was more world building and expanding of the magic system. Normally I love a quick read, but it seems like a lot of things were explained in a “that’s just the way it is” kind of way and conflicts were resolved too easily. Rourke is exactly the kind of character I would normally love, but it was too insta love and I would have liked to see their relationship develop more.

I did like the witchy aspects though and the parts where they traveled through the dreamworld. I also appreciated how Milly was a strong self sufficient character. I just wish it was a bit more fleshed out. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

This book was an absolute gem! It was a comforting cup of hot peppermint tea on a cold autumn night by the fire, a delightful spring walk in a garden full of delicate beautiful flowers and fragrant herbs, a dip in a lake on a hot summer day, and the balm for my aching soul. I really liked the modern day practicing witch Milly who lived a solitary life in a cottage with her kitty “familiar” surrounded by her garden and a forest. I absolutely adored her for her strength, independence, kindness, and for her connection to nature and her mom via traditions, magic, and never ending love. I liked Roarke from the very first time he appeared in the story but I shared Milly’s cautious and somewhat anxious feelings towards him and the whole situation they ended up in. I enjoyed their dreamscapes adventures just as much as the intimate love story and the magic aspect. The sprinkle of aromatherapy, spells and mystery was a perfect touch.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in an exchange for an honest review.

Actual rating 3.5 ⭐

When I read this book, I got this peaceful reading from the start. I love how the author make this look like a fairy tale magic world with witch, garden, all the plants mention, small cabin in the forest and this beautiful dreamscape, my mind going crazy imagining all this beautiful things. The author have a great writing and it makes me fall in love with the world quickly.

The plot is fast at first, because directly we will introduce to the two main characters and what will they doing in this book. At first we will focus about the dreamscape concept and how Milly and Roarke build their relationship slowly. But, this is not a really safe relationship, because despite of Milly feelings from the start, she still has many doubts toward Roarke and it's make sense because how could you believe people you just met and met in your dreams I must say. After that we change to slow paced, we just enjoy the time between Roarke and Milly with Milly confusion and doubts of course. Almost half of the book I think we will see the real conflict that will happen in this book.

The conflict itself is great, I love the concept about Queen of Nightmare and how it will affect Milly. But, I'm not really satisfied with how the things resolved at the end. I'm not sure if this is because of the "war" and the spell of magic not really strong present but I feel like something is missing. But actually I love how Milly says her spell in this book, well it more like a pray instead of spell.

For the characters I can say I really love them. I think I just like them enough. Milly is smart and brave but too much confusion from her and I'm not really sure I like it. Meanwhile Roarke is describe as beautiful and hot, but his presence is not really strong. I'm not really sure how big is his magic as it not shown enough, I'm sure for one thing that he really love Milly and adore her that what I get when I read the book.

Three and a half
A story about a young witch who discovers that the man of her dreams is not only real but cursed ! Can she trust him or does getting to know him mean that only her nightmares will come true ?
I found this enjoyable but a tad slow although the ‘romance ‘ certainly moves quickly and if I’m blunt not that believably for my taste. However this is aimed at a YA audience so I won’t harp on but will say it felt quite Wiccan at times with ironically both the hero and heroine feeling very lonely so I’m glad the author gave them a very happy ending !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Now imagine your a witch living in a cottage surrounded by woods. You drink lavender mint tea and grow your own herbs. You take note of the magical hour before you cast. And you have a familiar named Jenks.

The Cottagecore, kitchen/green witch vibes were 10/10. The atmosphere of this book was EVERYTHING FOR ME.

Unfortunately, the characters were all flat. They didn’t have enough development for my liking. I never really got the background on Milly’s mother that I was looking for either. And the romance just wasn’t for me.

The dreamscape was an amazing creation but it needed a bit more in terms of explanation and the curse.

This was a really fast read and I would still recommend it to people who love witchy books.

Weaver was a quiet yet intriguing story about a young nine-teen year old witch who lives a private and lonely life. After being visited in her dreams by a mysterious and handsome man, she decides she won't live without him and forms a plan to make it happen. Things aren't what they seem and there are age old secrets that could either make things worse or set them free.

The story telling was enjoyable and reminded me of Sarah Penner's writing, if you enjoyed The Lost Apothecary, then you're sure to enjoy Weaver. Even though this was listed under YA and was very clean, it was written with more maturity than most in that category..

I enjoyed the connection between the lead lady and her man but wish she had been more open about what she was doing behind her back, the communication would have helped.

All the feels when the book club showed up at her door ! :'-)

Overall this was easy and an enjoyable read that held my attention the entire time and would recommend it.

I really enjoyed the concept of this book. I got a real witchy vibe throughout. I thought the book needed more about the Weaver and his POV. I found Milly insecurities to be a little exhausting at times, however she grew in confidence. Really recommend if you enjoy witchy romances.

A quick and easy read that had an interesting plotline and great world building. Some of the characters were well developed, some of them needed further developement or I felt like I needed to know more about them, although if the book were longer I fwwl like I would have got that. An overall enjoyable read.

Thank you Netgalley and Amber Leaf Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Milly was a child when her father passed, and thirteen when her mother left Milly to her own devices. Nineteen year old Milly lives in a cabin in the outer reaches of Rhode Island, during modern times, as a witch who takes care of her garden and her familiar Mr. Jenkins. When Milly sees a handsome man appear in her dreams more than once, she decides to pursue him to find out why he is entering her dreams and why she feels a strong connection to him. She finds out he is the Weaver, a being who lives in the dreamscape plane. The Weaver/Roarke wants Milly to become his Queen of Nightmares and share magic between them to help the world become better. After a few meetings Milly begins to see little fires and accidents happening in each place they visit in the dreamscape. Things are not what they seem and Milly starts to feel doubt about her place with Roarke and what he might be hiding...

I love the concept of dream-walking and being a part of a different reality/plane of existence. It's a fascinating subject and when I read the synopsis for the book, I was all for it and ready to dive in.

I like that Milly is a modern witch but with vintage vibes. She is also a bookworm and makes small references to popular fandoms. There is one scene where she felt like Bella from Twilight when she and Roarke visit an English garden. It was a cute little nod and there's also this one snippet I love when Milly mentions she has many book boyfriends. I could relate to that statement and felt it in my book-dragon soul.

The romance was pretty good but also a little creepy in the beginning. I understand Milly falling for this mystery stranger in her dreams and feeling a connection towards him but Roarke came off WAY too strong. The story has a very instant-love connection that might put off quite a few people. Me included. I don't normally mind an instant connection but this was so fast that I think I got whiplash. I understand the connection, I understand falling in love with someone who gets you and finding your one and only after years of being alone, but I wish the instant love wasn't so instant. I wish it built gradually or just a smidge slower and maybe I wouldn't feel so weirded out. The steamy make out sessions were good and had a fade-to-black ending.

I do like that Milly became more sure of herself as the story progressed and how she handled Roarke and the possibility of becoming his Queen of Nightmares. She proved she has a backbone and wasn't afraid to stand up to Roarke when she felt uncomfortable or concerned about what they were doing to the world.

Overall it was a decent read and I plan on checking out other books by Tish Thawer.

A magical journey through time and space! Tish Thawer has done it again. She's written a beautiful story filled with hereditary magic, travel, history, and, most of all...fated love.

Milly’s fierce determination to claim the mysterious Weaver is both heartbreaking and thrilling. I loved how her journey into a shadowy, magical world is filled with secrets that pull you deeper with every page.

The idea of becoming the “Queen of Nightmares” feels haunting and unique — it’s not your typical love story, but one with a deliciously dark twist. The atmosphere is eerie and beautiful, and the stakes feel incredibly personal.

This YA contemporary fantasy standalone is just the right medicine to cure a book hangover. Fast-paced and romantic, Tish Thawer wraps you into the pages with her exceptional writing. Millie and the Weaver are just the right combination for a good romance story. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This was ok but nothing to really be OMG about. I did enjoy it but I don't think that I would read it again. The characters were great and the pacing worked well. But it was just pretty mediocre overall.
