Crime writer Evie Howland is officially beginning a 'happily ever after'. In life, that is. Not in fiction.
She isn't planning to write anything fictional for a while, especially not the screenplay she just started. That's because her two most beloved characters, NYPD detectives Jay Ryan and Carolyn Harding are part of reality now, and her closest friends.
And she wants to keep it that way.
But when a murder victim is found in Central Park, Evie realises she's made a mistake somehow, and unleashed her own brand of fictional havoc on the real world-again. Not to mention that there's a new character on the loose: handsome mystery man Chris Murray, a brilliant thief with an equally brilliant smile and possibly a heart of gold. Is he involved in the murder?
To chase down answers from Murray, Evie must dive headfirst (literally) into his story, which turns out to be a lot more dangerous than she anticipated. There's a good chance she might not make it out alive.
Will she be able to redeem her mistakes, or will she end up losing everything that matters most?
Dime Sheppard is an Australian writer with a degree in English and some unusual life experience, even though she's not in the least adventurous. Her first book, Crime Writer, was nominated for three awards (but didn't win any. And she's fine about it. FINE.). She writes mystery suspense with romcom vibes and magical realism.
Evie, Jay, and Carolyn are back in Two Timer. She’s got more problems than last time. This time she races to save the world. Dime Sheppard has created this unique and amazingly fun new world. I hope she plans more! #TeamJay

Well, well, two times indeed! Evie is once again swept into a high-action, adrenaline-packed adventure by the characters born from her imagination. The end of book one left me with feelings, so I was glad this one took no time picking up straight after.
Our new character Chris Murray definitely kept things fresh and served as the main mystery point throughout. While the first quarter of the book mainly rehashed the events and challenges from the first one, once Chris slid into the main scene, his storyline immediately stole my focus.
I did wish for more character exploration for Carolyn, but with so much packed into the story, I understand why she only had a limited airtime in this. I hope we’ll get to understand her (and Jay) more in the next one.
I can’t say too much because you’d have to read these two books for yourselves, but overall I had fun! And with that ending, I’m so ready for book three! By the way, I loved that towards the end, two different characters made two contrasting decisions that set things up nicely for book three. Well done, Dime!
I loved, loved, loved Crime Writer! It was fresh, unique and brilliantly written. I am so sad that this one just didn’t work for me. From the start, I was confused why we were back to the same problems again. Why didn’t Evie learn her lesson about her entire story coming to life? But she makes the same mistakes. Then things got pretty confusing. And that ending. It just wasn’t what I was hoping for after that amazing book 1. The great thing about this book though was Will/Christoper. #TeamWill/Chris Loved him!
Excellent sequal by Sheppard. This book holds more romance and less crime novel than the first book. Good continuation of the character development and again, surprising plot twists. I recommend Sheppards books to all who look for a relaxing, witty, humourous, good read where you keep turning pages.
A clever, exciting, and dramatic sequel to Crime Writer. So suspenseful and page turning the whole way through. Evie is a strong, witty protagonist with such a unique voice who has stayed with me, and I just can't wait to see what adventures and places she finds herself in for Bk3.
such a cool concept, loved the new character and just really enjoyed this book. Was just as good if not better than the first and i can’t wait to read the third one
