If you want your romance with heavy dose of suspense and action, The Saint by Kimberly Kincaid is the one for you. Carmen and Liam's story was full of nail biting twists, adrenaline filled revelations and complex feels.

Liam is known as the most calm and not to be easily moved person in his intelligence unit. The only person who rattled his cold cage is Carmen. They are forced to work together when a murder happens and Carmen gets involved. Now they have to find the killer but the beast is larger than they imagine.

This story is high on romance and suspense. The romance part was very slow burn. Liam is the kind of alpha I love to see in my romance books. A bit rough around the edges but his protectiveness and calm confidence is a huge turn on. Carmen is an adorable and inspiring woman. She doesn't come from the most pretty side of life. As a nurse, she has made it a mission to take care of and help the less privileged ones who cannot afford health care. She also works as CI for the intelligence department as she has a strong sense of justice and she is always ready to bring down the villains who prey on the weak ones. And that is how their paths crossed. They had an awkward encounter in past but this investigation brought them closer. Liam has to protect Carmen but she is not exactly damsel in distress. A lot of moving pieces are in the story as the crime is so much bigger than a murder. And it was very nicely executed. It was really fascinating and intriguing to see how the puzzle pieces come together.

The Saint is book 5 of the Intelligence Unit series by Kimberly Kincaid. A standalone contemporary romance told from various POV with a HEA

Tropes:
✔️ forced proximity
✔️ opposites
✔️ tortured hero & heroine

Detective Liam Hollister from the Remington PD has perfected the art of Zen calmness, the only person who can shake his composure is his partner’s informant Carmen Desoto, a witty and sarcastic nurse who has become the key to solving a murder investigation. Now the two must work together and go undercover to catch the deadly predator.

Chock full of suspense and action, The Saint by Kimberly Kincaid kept me engaged from start to finish. I’ve really enjoyed reading about all the characters in the Intelligence Unit. They are a wonderful group of bad @$$ friends who support each other and Liam was the last man standing and Kimberly provided his perfect match.

Carmen has had a hard life but has overcome said adversities and become a fierce, amazing, tough as nails person who’s willing to put her life on the line to help others. I loved her sass and compassion. She just didn’t see herself that way, but Liam did.

It was beautiful to see who they not only helped each other solve the case they were working on but also how the supported and saw the very best in each other. They didn’t just fall in love; they were safe with one another.

I don’t know if this is the last book in the series but I do hope Kimberly keeps writing about all the first responders in her lovely city of Remington.

I absolutely loved The Saint by Kimberly Kincaid the fifth book in her Intelligence Unit series. Kimberly Kincaid has once again delivered another incredible romantic thriller that kept me guessing how there were catch the team behind the insurance fraud and illegal drug activities. I loved every moment on every page of The Saint, and it was impossible to put it down. I love how the title of the book is incorporated into the story by simple statements by both Liam and Carmen. I really enjoy how the book is told from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. I also enjoy that Kimberly Kincaid has included characters from her other series in the Intelligence Unit series. It was nice catching up with the other characters that I have grown attached to. It is like a family reunion. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, and loving friends who always support one another, they are all such wonderful characters? I love how Kimberly Kincaid somehow, manages to find the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong woman on her own, to balance out the sexy detective. Once again Kimberly Kincaid has shown that she is an incredible storyteller who continues to deliver sizzling romantic thrillers. The Saint is the heartwarming and heartbreaking tale of Carmen Desoto, a nurse at Davenport Clinic and a CI for Isabella Walker, and Liam Hollister, a detective in the Intelligence Unit. Liam has been attracted to Carmen since she became Isabella’s CI. Liam and Isabella respond to a reported assault call that requested immediate Intelligence backup, for stabbing victim, Axel Franklin. Axel has Carmen’s phone number gripped in his fist and has recently called her three times. When Carmen arrives home from work, she discovers that at Liam is standing outside his door. Liam wants answers as to how she knows Axel and where she was when he was stabbed. While investigating Axel’s stabbing, Liam talks to Dante West, a man that Carmen recently treated at an illegal clinic where she volunteers. Dante reveals what Axel had been doing and reveals details about his attack. It is determined that Miranda Astor, CEO of Remington Mem and her husband, Royce Gannon have been committing insurance fraud and illegal prescription drug activities. Royce approaches Carmen to get them access to the files of Davenport Clinic, and blackmails her into agreeing. The Intelligence Unit works the case, Carmen and Liam will go undercover as a couple to implicate Royce. While working together Carmen and Liam spend more time with one another, and their relationship quickly changes, and they are not fake dating, but really dating. Both Liam and Carmen share secrets with each other that they have not shared before. I love all the things that Carmen and Liam do for each other. I love all the plot twists in the story, especially the unexpected one that reveals a person from Liam’s past. I love how the case gets resolved, and how both Liam and Carmen admit their feelings for each other. I love that Carmen’s dreams for a clinic become reality because she put her trust in Connor and Harlow Bradshaw. My favorite part was the epilogue, how Liam finds closure with his past. The Saint is filled with the sizzling romance, poignant and bittersweet moments as well as the surprise plot twists, that I have come to love and expect in Kimberly Kincaid's stories. The Saint truly is a page turner, kept me guessing how Liam and the Intelligence Unit were going to be able to solve who all was involved in their case. I love the cast of characters in The Saint and catching up with the other characters in the series. It feels like a reunion among friends. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. It was an amazing story and I highly recommend it.

Another exciting book from Ms. Kincaid! Carmen became a CI for Liam’s partner when she helped the team put away a drug dealer who had killed one of the girls he had hooked on drugs. I hated that Carmen had a low self esteem because of her past. I wished she could have been proud of how far she came from being a drug addict to a nurse helping others. Liam was normally cool as a cucumber with his work and interacting with people. I was surprised Liam was attracted to Carmen as he never wanted to have feelings for anyone after the way his father had treated his family. There are two people in power of a hospital who were scamming the system to pocket millions of dollars, oh and killing people who got in their way! Some of the things Carmen had to go through were so scary. I was so glad she had Liam and his unit to stand beside her. Things get really exciting when Liam is thrown off his game. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

THE SAINT has a slow-building intensity that will keep you completely involved from start to finish. Liam and Carmen have had a contentious relationship for years, but when recent events lead them to a more personal association, their connection rapidly progresses to an intimate one. There are strong emotions, intense drama with touches of nearly lethal suspense, and some deeply passionate moments that make this a story you’ll find hard to put down. The character interactions are well-drawn, and the narrative is fast-paced and engaging. All of these elements create a very compelling and highly entertaining tale.

First of all... I want my own Liam... that man came a long way from what happened to him as a child, as did Carmen so props to her there. Once I opened this book I couldn't put it down, the angst, the thrill, and the chase kept me on my toes. I will say I did not expect the dirty that was happening at Rem Mem, I may have said a few choice words out loud when that bomb was dropped on us... looking at you Kimberly Kincaid, but everything cleaned up nicely in the end and this is the book to read if you want action-packed with all the spicy goodness.

I loved every single thing about this book. From the cover to the very last page, it is chock full of on-the-edge-of-my-seat suspense, swoony romance and the steamiest of steamy scenes!

Liam Hollister has waited a long time for his happily ever after. He didn't even think that he would get one, keeping everyone at arms length with his laid-back charm. Only one person could get him to lower his walls and no one is more surprised then Carmen. Life has been tough for Carmen. Even realizing her dream of becoming a nurse has led to some sticky situations but with her sass and sarcasm she has made her way through. Now she needs the help of the one person she vowed to never need again.

This. Book. Is. Amazing. I have been hoping for a Liam and Carmen book for a long time and this was the perfect way for them to get together. Romance? Off the charts. Suspense? Omg, so many twists I just didn't see coming. Definitely a must read!

Can old habits really die? Can old hurts heal? And does a person ever truly change at their core? While this is definitely a book about crime, mystery, danger, love, and friendship, the answers to the questions I didn’t even know I had are here, too.

Liam and Carmen have danced around each other for a while, and when she finds herself smack dab in the middle of something she never wanted to go through again, Liam is the one there for her. And once these two have their “clear the air” talk to dispel any perceptions of disgust or lack of desire, sparks fly. But they also find something beyond attraction. They find kindred spirits and shared grief over different yet similar situations. And they learn to communicate and trust that someone else can always have their back. But then the wrench is thrown and Liam has to decide how much of himself to share. Or maybe he doesn’t need to worry about that, since Carmen isn’t dumb. She has eyes and ears and memories of conversations, so maybe he just needs to remember that when Carmen says something, she means it.

And holy wow, the way it all turns out? You’ll be pleasantly surprised and somewhat hopeful for the future. Sure, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. But neither is life. And giving this story the end is got is better than any flowery nonsense that would just make all of this feel fake. And because of that, I loved this book more than any other in the series. Because it’s all here: love, friendship, learning, and healing.

This story kept me guessing so I always wanted to know what was coming next. It starts out as a mystery, but Liam and Carmen have some history, so I immediately wanted to know more. There are a lot of twists and turns with good pacing and plenty of suspense. The characters are very real and even the bad guys are pretty believable, running a medical insurance scam. This is my first book in the series and my first by the author but won’t be the last.

Buckle up for all the romance and all the suspenseful excitement

This hot suspenseful romance is intrigue, danger, excitement, mystery, and big feelings all strapped into roller coaster pacing. And the pacing of this story was absolute perfection. It was a slow subtle ratcheting up of the tension and suspense until about 30% in and then it became a cannot put it down absolutely must stay up too late to finish the story kind of book. Liam is a detective in the elite Intelligence Unit. He is calm and collected all the time and he does not share personal details. Carmen is a nurse and a CI for Liam’s partner. She is equally walled off but with snark instead of calm. Liam and Carmen have known each other for years and, while there is loads of sexual chemistry, they’ve kept their distance. When Carmen’s name comes up in the investigation of a stabbing death resulting in Liam and Carmen having to work undercover together, their journey to their HEA gets a giant push forward. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, fan your face steam, exciting action, danger, strong friendships, painful pasts, mystery, evil actors, plot twists, imperfect characters, and even a few chuckles. The bad guys in this one were especially odious, narcissistic sociopaths who were easy to hate and nothing makes me root harder for the good guys that a really bad guy. The story was well written, the characters had depth and growth, and the storyline was engaging. Plus I love this series and these characters. I willingly reviewed an early copy of this book.

If you read just one romantic suspense this year, make it Kimberly Kincaid’s The Saint.

The Saint is the fifth in her stellar Intelligence Unit series, set in the same universe as her Station Seventeen and Remington Medical series, and will make you breathless in all the best ways.

Detective Liam Hollister has watched his friends and coworkers find the one who makes their hearts beat faster, and while he’s happy for them, he is more than content to be free of those sorts of entanglements. He’s a pro at keeping his emotions locked down tight, having endured plenty of upheaval in his past.

Nurse Carmen Desoto can understand that all too well, having had some experience with difficult circumstances of her own. While her and Hollister’s paths have crossed previously, she’s kept her attraction stuffed down too, knowing guys like him aren’t for people like herself.

Kimberly Kincaid’s The Saint has it all—boldly terrifying villains, somewhat wounded heroes and heroines who learn the satisfaction of vulnerability and true partnership, sizzling heat, and yes, a bit corny, but no less satisfying when teamwork makes the dream work!

Ms Kincaid’s writing is everything you could hope for. Richly nuanced, cleanly incisive, funny, clever, and warmly satisfying, The Saint is sheer excellence.

FAN-TAS-TIC!! I absolutely LOVE a story that makes you feel like your right there in all the action. THAT is exactly how this story drags you in. The relationship between Liam and Carmen is very realistic. They start out antagonizing each other and eventually turns to a truce, then to a love that is unbreakable. The action and surprises throughout are and added bonus to a story I could not put down.

Wow! I absolutely loved The Saint by Kimberly Kincaid. I was hooked right from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down until the very end. So many secrets. Some twists and turns. This story kept me on the edge of my seat to see what would happen next. Absolutely loved it. And Liam and Carmen were amazing together. I loved them so much. I really loved how their relationship developed and if you've been following this series you've probably been waiting for years for their HEA like me. Then again so have the both of them. They had some cute and emotional moments as well as some really hot ones too. Liam was very swoon worthy. Carmen was brave and so amazing. I highly recommend this wonderful romantic suspense.

Liam, oh Liam! I have been waiting to read your HEA!!!

The Saint, written by author Kimberly Kincaid, is the 5th book in the Intelligence Unit series…and WOW!!! It is my favorite yet!

Carmen, a nurse and woman still healing from years of abuse, reconnects with Detective Hollister, just in time for things to turn dangerous.

Between the characters, feelings, and the keep you on the edge of your seat storyline…I COULDN’T PUT THIS DOWN! Absolutely incredible read!

Kimberly Kindcaid's latest is a solid read through and through, capturing the awkwardness, longing and unease of mistakenly unrequited feelings...that would have probably stayed that way for much longer if not for a case of blackmail and fraud that brings two quite unlikely people together.

Liam Hollister and Carmen Desoto aren't the kind of pairing I'd see at first sight, but Kincaid presents a compelling case of the both of them together as they navigate events of their pasts that come to light in the present. Past the UST, both Liam and Carmen become a team and pretty much fight for each other the whole way; the latter is scrappy, tenacious and just so resilient that it's hard not to like her. In contrast, Liam's cool steadiness is her foil, but also a support that has them convincingly going undercover together even as thing start to get steamy between them.

I can very clearly see the lines of conflict that Kincaid has drawn in the story and it's cleverly done in a way that keeps you guessing how things are going to come to a head even though you do see the climax a mile away. It's compelling enough that I lost a little sleep over it...but for a story like this? It's probably worth it.

A twisted plot, characters that connect and a surrounding cast of characters is what makes Kimberly Kincaid’s stories a joy to read. The Saint delivered on all those things.

Liam and Carmen sizzled from the first moment they appeared in the story together. Snark was the first give-away that there was more than a difference in opinion between the two of them. And Carmen had a lot of snark in her. But, when push came to shove, when everything depended on her and Liam together, she put it away and prayed that her street smarts got her through everything.

Liam was no saint. He played everything close to the vest. He was dominated by his three “C’s” until it came to to Carmen. That ‘s when his control got the better of him, when there was no calmness in his system and there was no way to keep his composure. She got beneath his skin and there was no way he was going to shake her off or ignore the attraction this time around.

I enjoyed reading the back-stories on each of these characters. But, I felt that they dragged on throughout the story. You had to understand Liam’s history in order for the plot to build and come to it’s conclusion. But, some things were repeated which seemed to have taken a little bit away from the story.

Twist’s and turns, characters that you are interested in and a story line that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The Saint had all of that and then an HEA that left you smiling and a little bit surprised considering how the story line played out.

THE SAINT by Kimberly Kincaid is Liam and Carmen’s story and the fifth book in The Intelligence Unit series.

Liam and Carmen have been attracted to each other for a while but have always pushed their feelings aside until they are pushed together on an undercover case.

Liam and Carmen have some awesome banter and wicked tension between them that finally snaps and turns into scorching hot chemistry. I love the suspense and twists that keep you glued to the story. The end of the book seemed a little rushed and unfinished.

I was so excited to return to the Remington PD Intelligence Unit and I hope we will get more from them in the future.

THE SAINT contains… small town, law enforcement, medical, frenemies, forbidden, workplace, close proximity, romantic suspense, and multiple third-person points of view.

Liam is a very calm member on this Intelligence Unit (he reminded me of Jay on Chicago PD LOL), and he's also the last single man standing. He's not willing to let any drama in his life so he's okay being single, but wait, his partner's most trusted CI does send his calm nature into chaos. Carmen has a past, but she's bettered herself & now spends her days helping others as a nurse, and whenever she can she helps the police put the really bad people in jail. Carmen & Liam have a connection & the sparks are always flying but something in their past happened & both have stayed away from the other until a new case brings them face to face again. This story was very exciting with all the twists coming in hot, and the action of undercover work which also kept me guessing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through, and let me tell you, I sure as hell didn't move until every last page was devoured. So yeah, it's safe to say it was perfect in my eyes, and the heat these two generated when they finally got past some things to grow closer & trust each other made it even better! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This was my first read by Kimberly Kincaid, and I was riveted the whole way through! An intense plot with twists I didn’t see coming, and a romance that gave me the feels EVERYWHERE 😉. I now need to read the rest of this series!
Carmen is a woman who has a sad past of familial death and drug addiction. After seeing the light and getting clean, she is now a nurse who is trying her damn hardest to repent for her past. In this quest, she has become a confidential informant for Isabella, an Intelligence Unit detective. Isabella's partner, detective Liam Hollister, is Mr. calm and cool, but not, apparently, around Carmen. They’ve interacted previously, and whatever happened has left Carmen embarrassed, Liam cautious, and both secretly yearning. Once they start working on a case together, it becomes apparent that their connection is undeniable. So effortless, they couldn’t help but let down their walls. I loved how once they started showing their feelings for each other, it was a speeding train right to HEA town! No drama in the relationship.

Kimberly Kincaid is back with the book I’ve been waiting for in the Saint. I’ve waited not so patiently for this story and all I can say is that it was absolutely worth the wait. The Saint was the perfect combination of heat, heart, plot twists and suspense that had me glued to the pages till I was done. I think this is my favourite story of the series and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

Carmen and Hollister’s story has been a long time coming and like I said, the wait was worth it because the reader gets to see them finally get their HEA but we also find out more about both of them, things we never saw coming which only makes the story better.

Together these two steam up the pages while falling in love and taking down the bad guy. No easy feat but they do it while taking us on a journey a long time coming. Plus we get to see loads of familiar faces in the Intelligence Unit gang.

THIS is why I love this authors work and will have this in rotation as a comfort read. 5 stars does not cover this story.

As a result of his difficult past Liar doesn't allow marry people close and is focused on his career as a Police Detective. When his latest assignment has him working with the one woman who not only infuriates him but intrigues him the sparks are going to fly.

Carmen has overcome a difficult past of her own and her career as a nurse allows her to there for those who need it the most. She is fierce, feisty and always tries to do the right thing which is how she finds herself working with the police and in particular Liam.

Carmen and Liam both have their walls up when it comes to each other but as the danger escalates around them so does the chemistry between them. Seeing ther allow each other into their hearts and lives was everything you could want and more,

They just keep getting better
While I don’t want to spoil this for anyone who hasn’t read it I do want to say that with Liam and Carmen working together undercover, Liam finally has to come face to face with his past and he finds forgiveness in his heart for his father after so many years. Thinking he is unable to love anyone because of his past, Liam never thought he would have a true relationship until Carmen came along.
Carmen, never thought she could be anything because of her past drug use and abuse she went through but we see that she works with the Police Department and helps bring down criminals. She begins working a case with Liam and they find out that they have a lot more in common than they thought and now they find themselves falling in love just when the case begins to take hold.
Ok, so Liam and Carmen are my favorites thus far! This book has all the feels, heartache, heartbreak, love, deceit, and death. While these are bold words, the story is absolutely amazing and yes, Liam and Carmen have their HEA.

Another Hot, Romantic Suspense from Kimberly Kincaid? Yes, please!

I love her romantic suspense and Liam and Carmen’s story had me glued to the pages! Liam, a detective in the Intelligence Unit has had feelings for Carmen DeSoto, his partner’s CI for years. He’s never acted on those feelings but when the two are put together in an undercover case to try and not only stop a killer, but also insurance fraud and drug activities, those feelings are getting harder to deny. Both Liam and Carmen have very difficult pasts, but when these two get together, there’s nothing stopping the hot passion between them.

Full of twists and turns and surprises you don’t see coming, this romantic suspense story is another great read in the Intelligence Unit series!

This is the fifth book in the Intelligence series and it just keeps getting better and better. Liam Hollister has watched his friends find happiness one after the other, and although he is perfectly happy to be on his own, it is now his turn. Liam has met Carmen Desoto several times as she has been a CI for Liam's partner Isabella, and both have felt the sparks between them, but have always tamped these feelings down. Now Liam has to protect Carmen when she is in danger from some very nefarious criminals and spending that much time together means that the push toward their own HEA is that much greater.
As with the other Kimberly Kincaid books, this book flows so well, the characters develop fully and with bad guys you want to hate, and good guys you want to love, this romantic suspense novel has it all.

We are back with the Intelligence Unit and another engaging story. This time, the story belongs to Detective Liam Hollister.
Liam is known for being methodical and always in control. That all seems to go out the window when he ends up working with his partner’s informant, the sexy nurse Carmen Desoto.
As they go undercover together, the danger intensifies and so do the feelings.
Will they be able to overcome the danger and tell the tale? If they survive, will they realize they belong together?
This was another wonderful addition to an already much love series. The character are well developed, and the plot keeps the reader on the edge of their seats.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Well this is a story that grabs hold of you in the first few pages and never lets go until the end With enough twists and turns to keep you full engaged and main characters that are multi dimensional I guarantee that this is one book you won't be putting down till you turn the last page

Detective Liam Hollister is the quite cool member of the intelligence team the one that is never rattled that is except when it comes to nurse Carmen Desoto she works with the edges of society which leads her to been a good informant for the intelligence unit But now they have a murder on their hands that turns out to be much more and places Carmen in danger then Liam will do whatever he needs to in an effort to keep her safe and his team will back him all the way. Be prepared for a lack of sleep when you pick this one up

Another great addition to the Intelligence Unit series. This is a must read if you like romantic suspense. It’s the perfect combination of back story, drama, suspense and romance. I loved Liam and Carmen together. They both had their own personal demons to work through but the love the two of them shared was phenomenal. I so enjoyed the ending! I sure hope their will be more in this series. I received an advanced copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

THE SAINT is the fifth instalment in in Kimberly Kincaid’s contemporary adult THE INTELLIGENCE UNIT erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work as first responders for the Remington Fire and Police. -a spin off from her Station Seventeen and Remington Medical series. This is police detective/undercover unit Liam Hollister, and registered emergency nurse Carmen DeSoto’s story line. THE SAINT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Carmen was first introduced in the prequel novella THE ROOKIE.

Told from third person perspective THE SAINT follows in the wake of the murder of a possible drug dealer. Nurse Carmen DeSoto is a recovering addict whose ex-boyfriend got her hooked on drugs, and pimped her out for money and fun. Currently Carmen is working as a nurse at a local clinic, as well as Detective Isabella Walker’s confidential informant, a position that is about to place our heroine front and center in an insurance fraud scheme. Carmen is being blackmailed by some powerful people, and with Detective Liam Hollister by her side, our couple will go undercover in an effort to reveal the who, what and why. What ensues is the building relationship between Carmen and Liam, and the potential fall-out as demons from the past threaten our story line couple.

Liam Hollister is the odd man out. He is the last of his crew to have yet to find love but his attraction to Detective Isabella Walker’s CI is visceral and intense but Liam’s past is about to make his life more complicated and uncomfortable.

Hollister’s attraction to Carmen DeSoto is immediate and intense but Carmen is the police department CI, and she continues to struggle with what happened years before. Working together to take down a large insurance fraud operation finds our couple pushed together by outside sources. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including many of the previous story line couples-Isabella and Kellan, Garza and Delia, Maxwell and Frankie, Hale and Dempsey, Detective Shaw Maxwell, James Capelli, Sargent Sam Sinclair; FBI Agent Kai Roman; drug addicts, Carmen’s bosses Connor and Harlow, who make Carmen an offer she cannot refuse, as well as Dr, Miranda Astor, her husband Royce Gannon, and Liam’s brother Jamie, and their father Daniel McGee. Several characters cross over from the author’s Station Seventeen and the Remington Medical Series.

THE SAINT is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and obsession, power, greed and control, manipulation blackmail, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise intriguing and compelling; the romance is captivating and intense; the characters are numerous, charismatic, and energetic.

Kimberly Kincaid once again burns up the pages with romance and suspense in The Saint, book five in The Intelligence Unit series. Detective Liam Hollister is known for his calmness around the intelligence unit. He’s a pro at keeping his emotions locked down tight, having endured plenty of upheaval in his past. Liam is an alpha through and through; a bit rough around the edges but with a string protective streak and calm confidence making him dependable. Nurse Carmen Desoto understands upheaval in one’s life all too well; having had some experience with difficult circumstances of her own. While she and Hollister’s have crossed paths before, they have both kept their attraction hidden. As a nurse, Carmen has made it a mission to take care of and help the less privileged ones who cannot afford health care. She also works as CI for the intelligence department as she has a strong sense of justice and she is always ready to bring down the villains who prey on the weak ones.

Liam and Isabella are requested as backup to a reported assault call, finding a stabbing victim, Axel with Carmen’s phone number gripped in his fist; having already called her three times. When Carmen arrives home from work, she discovers Liam standing outside her door; wanting to find out how she knows the victim. While investigating the stabbing, Liam talks to Dante West, a man that Carmen recently treated at an illegal clinic where she volunteers. Dante discloses what they had been doing, along with details about the attack. They learn that the CEO of Remington Memorial and her husband have been committing insurance fraud along with illegal prescription drug activities. Carmen is approached by them and blackmailed into giving them access to the files of Davenport Clinic. Carmen and Liam will go undercover as a couple to connect these two to the murder and illegal activities. They might have had an embarrassing encounter in the past but this investigation brings them closer together. Liam has to protect Carmen but she is not exactly damsel in distress. Not only will Liam, Carmen, and the Intelligence Unit put a stop to these criminals and their activities, but Liam is unexpectedly forced to confront, and deal with, a blast from his past.

Ms. Kincaid is an expert at writing heart-pounding suspense and steamy romance stories. Her characters are very realistic, she keeps the story interesting, making me forget the world around me and not letting me go until I turn the last page, wanting more. Ms. Kincaid kept this reader mesmerized with the need to see how Liam, Carmen and the rest of the Intelligence Unit would stop these villains before they got away with their crimes and if Liam and Carmen would find their happy ever after. I highly recommend The Saint to other readers.
