Will losing my trainer lead me to what my heart desires—a collar and Preston?

I’ve found the perfect place to live in London thanks to the My Kinky Housemate app. It’s close to work and my housemates don’t mind me de-stressing from my job as a nurse by being a playful puppy. Life is good until my puppy trainer finds a girlfriend leaving me high and dry.

A flippant comment leads to an offer from, Preston, the housemate I’ve got a mile high crush on. I thought my attraction wasn’t mutual until he proves me wrong while being my temporary trainer for a puppy show.

Preston has never been into pet play before, but it seems he’ll make an exception for me. As our relationship flourishes and strengthens with him as my new trainer, someone in the puppy community sets out to destroy my reputation.

Can Preston help me resolve the situation before I get driven out of the community that brings me joy?

Collar Me is an mm puppy play romance with housemates that become lovers, handcuffs, a fantasy toy, a jealous puppy and lots and lots of snuggles. It’s the third book in the My Kinky Housemate Series and, while it can be enjoyed as a standalone, it’s better to read it after Sugar Bunny and Plaything.

I’ve said this before, but this author is my absolute go to author when I want a super sweet and kinky story. Every book that this author writes always works for me. They are the perfect amount of super cute scenes and really hot and well done kink. And this book wasn’t an exception.

I’ve been really enjoying this entire series and this one wasn’t an exception, it was just a joy to read.

This book was just so sweet. It made me swoon so much and I swear that my heart melted like 20 times while I was reading this book becauase it was just so sweet. The romance in this book was just an absolute joy to read about because it was the cutest thing I have read in a while. I just absolutely loved the romance in this book, it was so adorable and it really worked.

Also the kink in this book was absolutely lovely. I loved how there was plenty of puppy play and how it was part of the characters every day life. I really enjoyed how important the kink was to the book and how much of it there was. That just really worked for me and it was lovely to read.

This book was just a wonderful and I had the best of time reading it and reading it put a very big smile on my face.

I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest opinion

Not your average romance, but again a highly interesting foray into the world of kink.

What I came to expect from this author: a mostly sweet story line with a touch of drama, and very likable characters. I’m not sure if it’s well researched and if there actually kink scene actually is the way it’s described in this book, but what I do know: it’s treated with respect and a lot of explanations that make it possible for non-kink readers to understand and even get what the MCs get from it.

It’s the story of Theo, a nurse, who loves being puppy, and his housemate Preston, who’s not into pet play, at least not initially. I loved the playful way the two of them started to train and play, and how open minded both of them were when it came to explore new things. Also: I learned that there are knotting-cockrings out there that enable their wearers to… well. To knot 🤣

If you want to learn a bit about pet play, then this book definitely is for you!

I really appreciate the deep dive Colette does into really obscure kinks. Animal play is sort of a guilty pleasure for me. It’s one of those kinks that does nothing for me but I find it absolutely fascinating so I really enjoy reading about it. This IS sexy though, with some bondage and some role play later. But most of all it’s just really dang sweet. Theo and Preston are adorable from page one, and were just easy to read. I also really love the dynamic between all of the housemates, current and former. I am SO excited for Stephan’s book.

Another hit in the Kinky Housemate series.
I loved the friends to lovers with a gentle push from their friends.
A tiny bit if outside angst with Theo being harassed but other than that it is full of the trademark sweetness of this series.
And steam. All the steam! Preston's surprise for Theo was crazy hot. Loved that.
I'm also delighted at which housemate is next.

4.5 stars Gosh, they are so adorable!
Theo is the puppy among the kinky housemates, he’s very affectionate and Preston loves the cuddles.
Theo knows he’s just like a younger brother to Preston, but a guy can hope, now can he?
He’s a bit moody because his puppy trainer said goodbye to him over another puppy. Now he can’t go to a puppy contest.

Preston thinks of himself as the less kinkiest guy of the housemates, he loves cuffs. Seeing Theo sad isn’t to his liking, he understands he’s without a trainer. Preston offers to be his trainer, he has no idea how, but Theo is thrilled.

That’s the beginning of something awesome. We can watch them going through every part of puppy training, how the puppy community works, and how commands work. Preston is kinkier than he thought he was, he’s a natural trainer, his Dom side is kind and strong, Theo is such a sweet sweet guy, you can only love them, he’s open to other kinky encounters.
Of course, we meet the other housemates, awesome, I’m looking forward to the next story!
There’s also room in this story to meet some family members.

It’s all so kind, sweet, so natural, and so comfortable. It was a joyful experience. Preston and Theo are enough developed and are a great couple, a wonderful addition to this series.
There is some struggle within the puppy community, but it’s all mild.
The whole series is a sight to the eyes, it has a wonderful concept, intriguing, sexy, kinky, and overall with kind, mature, and sweet guys.
You can read this story as a stand-alone but it’s so much fun to read the others, you really don’t want to miss them.

Collar Me is a sweet, no-angst story about two roommates falling in love and discovering new kinks together.

Preston and Theo have been living in the same house for a while, and they each think that the attraction is one sided. Then, they start spending more time together when Theo gets let down by a friend and needs help with a show he wants to participate in. So, infatuated, Preston steps up to help. He's determined to keep things platonic as he's certain Theo doesn't want anything more.

Theo wants more but is reluctant to ask for it for fear of rejection. They get over that, and they start dating—don't worry, though, it was pretty early on in the book, so there's no huge misunderstanding or anything.

They're cute and sugary sweet together. There's zero relationship angst in the story, and the only stress factor in the plot comes from an outside source. There's a side arc with some harassment comments and texts that Theo gets, and they're trying to figure out who sent them, but it wasn't difficult to guess.

There are quite a few characters from other books present or just mentioned, but I think this can easily work as a standalone.

The story spans a few weeks with a nice epilogue set a few months later and a bonus scene at the end to set up the next book in the series.

It's a sweet story. I can't think of a better word to describe it, so this is a great bet if you're in the mood for a light read with some kinky elements.

Gosh I just love thus entire series! Once again Colette absolutely kills it. I love getting to see Preston get his happy ending after first meeting him in the prep series novella. The story is sweet and filled with cuddles and exploration, the characters are liveable and endearing, and I just could not put this down. So much puppy play details and the first time I've seen a pup show in a story. Creative, sexy af, and just mesmerizing. Absolutely LOVED this book. Recommend to anyone who like pet play, kink, and low angst.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I have a soft spot for the trope inversion where the Dom character is the more inexperienced one, and I adored the way Theo never makes Preston feel unsure about his experience, and the way he both jumps into exploring what Preston is interested in while never hiding his own desires. This novel is a perfect example of how kink doesn't preclude a relationship from having a lovely slow burn.

Preston as a soft baby Dom was an absolute delight, and Theo is just a delight in general. Davison does an especially lovely job of presenting Theo in "puppy space" that feels natural and completely in character.

I feel a bit bad about knocking a star off this book for it being TOO sweet. The external plot was interesting, but I predicted the conclusion from a mile away. Even I would have felt bad about deepening the conflict when Theo is such a pure soul, but Davison could have gone further with the mystery aspect or the steps needed for the resolution. That being said, I wouldn't have minded it so much as it stands, except that the amount of time Theo obsesses over cuddles started to imbalance the story arc as a whole. I do hope this comes off as a critique about the story's pacing rather than a slight against low-angst novels, because there is nothing wrong with wanting escapism without the emotional pain, and I have certainly enjoyed many stories like that myself.

I'm already incredibly excited about the next book because it features characters I've been curious about from their first appearances. Throughout every step of this series, Davison has done an excellent job of portraying an extensive cast of characters in a way that makes me invested in them rather than distracted by their presence.

This is a fabulous addition to the series. Theo and Preston are likable characters who deserve the happiness they find with each other. They are a bit kinky (if puppy play and bondage can be considered "a bit kinky"), and they make an adorable couple.
The only stress comes from outside the relationship, and it makes the reader want to protect and comfort Theo. Of course, Preston is wonderfully supportive during this time.
I love Theo's cuddly nature and Preston's willingness to try new things. I enjoyed their visits with both sets of parents. It feels like these two are meant to be together, just the right fit.
We get to see more of the other housemates here, and I really like all of these men. I"m happy for those who have found love, and I look forward to seeing the others find that for themselves. This series is sexy and fun, and I can't wait for more!

Another great story in the housemate kink series. Colette never fails to create sweet and likable characters and her attention to detail always amazes me. To be honest, anime kink was never on my radar so that has been an eye opener. This is a sweet roommates/friends to lovers story and it's low angst. Theo enjoys dressing up as a puppy and going to shows but when his trainer leaves, roommate Preston offers to step in even though he doesn't know much about puppy kink. He is a quick learner though. They very quickly realise they have a lot of chemistry. It was a sweet story and I enjoyed reading it.

I love this whole series and Collar Me was another fantastic read. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Theo has to be the most adorable and lovable character ever, and Preston is just right for him. I love how there's a balance between sexy kink and kink that's not about getting off - that seems to be expressed a whole lot less in most books. Their choice of honorifics was unique and so fitting, and seeing Theo get his fantasy played out in the end was worth the suspense. That was another kind of kink rarely seen or explored in any kinky romance I've read to date, and I'm really loving that about this whole series - exploring lesser seen kinks. I already can't wait for book 4!

I appreciate the author seemed to do a lot of research or have personal knowledge about puppy play here, its just not my vibe and I didn’t care for the plot surrounding it. Sweet story though. Just hanging out for book 4.

This series is more romance and relationship focused than smut. I rather like the part where Theo says he could never rim anyone or be rimmed because he’s a nurse and he knows all the nasty bacteria down there and as a nurse myself this made me laugh.

Collar Me is the story of Preston and Theo and is the third book in the My Kinky Housemate series. The book is filled with kink, and puppy play. The book has a good story and is well written. The scenes are smoking hot and overall a very enjoyable, kinky, and steamy read. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

These two were just adorable together. I enjoy this series, though I think this book may have been the tamest emotional wise. Seeing puppy shows and that whole world was very interesting. Definitely something I'd be interested in watching.

Do you want to snuggle? Theo is your man... Ops, pup.
Theo is the sweetest, cutest, best cuddler you'll ever meet. He really wears his heart in his sleeve. I really appreciate his personality, specially when we saw a glimpse of his everyday job as a nurse. And the relationship with his parents, the world truly needs more relationships like theirs.
Preston, oh Preston... So careful at the beginning, it is beautiful how he steps up and helps his roommate/crush, how he's willing to always try something new. And the dates he took Theo to: I wish there was something similar here in Italy.
All the puppy moments are wonderful, both at home and during the "competition".
Even if this is not you cup of tea, in this case you'll enjoy this particular kink.
This is the third book in the serie, and even if it is a standalone, it's absolutely best enjoyed if you read the serie in order.
And the next couple? Can't wait for them!!!

These books have been my introduction to pet play in novels; Oscar with his bunny self and Theo with his dog persona. It’s interesting seeing how their personalities are mirrored in the pets they’ve been drawn to become in their headspace, and how it can bring out a different side of them. Getting to know Theo and Preston better was wonderful. I love how they explored new things with one another and how they supported and took care of one another in their own ways. The chemistry between them has always been there, but, once they acknowledged their attraction to one another, it went off the charts, giving us the sweet and sexy story they deserve.

This book was absolutely adorable!
Of all the housemates Theo was the one I wanted to have his HEA because he’s so sweet. We get to learn more about him in his job and as a person, and he’s just as wonderful as I thought he’d be.
Preston is incredibly sweet with Theo. I love how supportive he is and so willing to do what he can to make Theo smile. We really delve into Theon’s pup play in this, and I loved his dog shows!
We also get to see more of the other housemates, which I love 💗
A really sweet, sexy, kinky romance!

Loved this fast reading well written kinky romance, it was so much fun reading about Theo and Preston two more of the housemates in the 3rd book of My Kinky Housematesseriesby Colette Davidson. After Theo's puppy trainer Alice dumps him right before a competition Preston offers his services as his new trainer which allows both of them time together to admit that the friendship they have for each other could change and grow into a romance they both have been searching for.

COLLAR ME is the third book in the My Kinky Housemate series and definitely best read as part of the series, although you could read it as a standalone.

We've already met both Theo and Preston but now it's their time to shine. Preston swoops in like a superhero when Theo's trainer dumps him just before a show. Preston knows nothing about being a trainer but, for Theo, will do whatever it takes. Theo thinks the world of Preston but mistakenly thinks that Preston only sees him as a little brother. So hold onto your hats when Preston puts him straight!

I think I may have more than a handful of cavities after reading this one. They are cute/adorable/all the warm and fuzzy words. I would class this as low-angst as Theo does have to deal with some harassment but has the full support of Preston and his housemates. It's pretty clear who's doing it, but that isn't the main point. It is also hot, hot, hot! Theo's fantasy? Phew! Down, boy! And the thing I loved about it most of all is that it wasn't without 'issues'. Not that Theo seemed disappointed about more practice! Nor was Preston, for that matter.

I am loving this series. Hendrix is the house brat but he has a heart of gold. I can't wait for his story. Absolutely recommended by me.

********** Contains Spoilers**********

I thought that this book was another good addition to the Kinky Housemates Series by Colette Davison which I really enjoyed. I thought Preston and Theo were great together, as well as sickeningly sweet. What they get up to in the bedroom was pretty hot, their s*xual chemistry is off the charts. Theo is into puppy play and his trainer and friend Alice are in the process of training for an up and coming puppy show but Alice asks Theo to come to his instead of hers like usual. When she arrives she asks if there’s somewhere that they can speak privately. Theo gets a shock when she tells him that she can’t be his trainer anymore or go to the show with him, as she has a girlfriend and they’re going to go to the show. On one hand Theo is happy for Alice, as they’re just friends who help each other out since they’re both in the lifestyle, but on the other hand he feels really upset and completely let down as he was at Alice’s house last week and she never mentioned her girlfriend and that she’s planing to become her permanent trainer.

Theo was really looking forward to the competition as he’s been training so hard. When Preston finds out about Alice, he offers to become Theo’s temporary trainer for the show, like one of their roommates Hendrix suggests. He doesn’t know much about pet play, and doesn’t think it’s really his k*nk but he’s always had a thing for Theo and just wants him happy. Theo has always had a thing for Preston but he thinks that Preston views him as a little brother, as he was really nice to their old roommate Oscar who he treated like a little brother. Theo thinks that Preston only offered because Hendrix talked him into it and he was just being his usual nice self. Both of them get advice, Preston from their old roommate Oscar about pet play, what being a temporary trainer involves and when Oscar worked out that Preston actually likes Theo he told him that he should be honest with him about his feelings, and Theo from one of their other roommates Rory about whether or not Preston was actually being serious about being his temporary trainer and not just offering because Hendrix talked him into it.

They both suggest that the worst thing that they could both say is no so what do they have to use. Preston worries that he’s going to let Theo down as he’s won a rosette before with his trainer Alice so he takes training a bit too seriously but Theo tells him that he doesn’t care if they don’t place it’ll still be fun. They have fun at the show but they don’t place. They do run into Alice and her puppy Gigi. Man, Gigi was a jealous b*tch to Theo when Alice was talking to him, she even growled at him where she had nothing to be jealous of as Alice and Theo were always just friends. I liked that after the show that Theo and Preston had dinner together and actually talked about everything including their k*nks, and they decided to make a go at something serious. I really enjoyed how their relationship progressed, as they’d known each other for awhile. I’m really looking forward to reading more books in this series as each of the roommates get their stories. I’ve already pre-ordered Keep Me On Edge which is Stefan and their newest housemate Quinn’s story. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

Theo's roommate, Preston, steps in when his trainer bails on him last minute. The guys have been crushing on each other, but they are both determined the other only sees them as a friend. When Theo starts getting harassing messages, Preston steps up to help figure out who's behind them and to keep Theo in the community he loves.

Theo and Preston are SOOOO sweet. They are both willing to go out of their comfort zones for each other and gain some new kinks along the way. I especially loved that Preston wasn't possessive or jealous of Theo continuing to snuggle with all their housemates. The puppy play aspect was fun and well written. Preston was very nervous at first, but became a great trainer with Theo's guidance. There's plenty of heat, including the use of a fantasy toy. There were so many different things they tried together, even while working around Theo's dislikes and limits. I'm glad there was some external angst from the harassment messages. It helped balance out the book some.

I'm really enjoying this series and Theo and Preston are my favorite couple so far. I have a feeling the next story may beat it, but I can't wait to see!

Prepare yourself for sweet puppy overload!

In the third installment of Colette Davison’s ‘My Kinky Housemates’ we get Theo and Preston’s story! These can be read as standalone novels but definitely are more enjoyable if you read them as a series since you meet all the housemates in previous novels.

Theo is a nurse who is into puppy play. He is the most cuddly of all the housemates. Preston seems to be the most cuddled by Theo.
Can two friends become more?
Theo’s regular handler leaves him high and dry just before a ‘puppy show’. Preston volunteers to step in as a temporary replacement.

These two will melt your heart with the sweetness!

The cast of characters are relatable and well developed. Diving into their world as a voyeur will keep you interested and unable to put down your kindle. This installment has a little more angst due to some bullying.

Definitely don’t pass up this amazingly cute friends to lovers story!

I am a fan of this series, the author, and of puppy play romances. And yet, I was not vibing with this book. It hurt me to go from chapter to chapter and be losing interest in finishing, instead of racing through because it was so good.

Theo was adorable. Preston was...there. I just didn't buy into them as a couple. They had more chemistry when other characters were witnessing their interactions (kissing while playing spin the bottle) then when they were telling their own story. Like, Theo is a puppy who's into being knotted but the sex scenes were dry as hell! And while communication is key in a healthy relationship, they kept talking at the worst times. Plus, Preston barely seemed into Theo's kinks which fed into my reading that they lack chemistry.

Also, the conflict subplot was trash and added nothing to the story. Theo getting harassed online could have been an interesting plot device for character development. He could have matured some while still making the choice to see the best in people. Instead, he constantly buried his head in the sand and refused to see the very obvious culprit behind it. It was so frustrating and distracting. It should have been cut and more sex scenes could have been written to trick me into believing Theo and Preston belonged together.

Honestly, if this were another author, I probably would have rated this book one star. I am a fan of the series though and am guessing this was a fluke. I'm very excited for Quinn and Stefan's book. I am hoping for more steam and less fluff.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

Collar Me is the third book in the My Kinky Housemate series. The books all focus on a group of men who live in a shared house and all have an interest in various kinks. Theo and Preston are new MCs for the series, but the men all appear in each other’s books and we see a lot of the roommates, particularly in books 2 and 3. So while I don’t think you need to have read the other books, especially if you are ok not knowing the side characters, your experience will be enhanced here if you are familiar with the group. Each book also features a bonus scene at the end that leads into the next book, so we saw a bit of Theo and Preston at the end of Plaything (though the scene isn’t required to follow the events here) and get a tease for the next story at the end of this one.

This story was simply adorable. Theo is a marshmallow and, combined with his excitable, overly energetic, puppy persona, he was pure cuteness throughout the entire story. Preston, as new to kink as he is, was the perfect stabilizing personality to ground, reward, and protect all that cute goodness Theo personifies.

The books in this series continue to get better and better. Even though the book focuses on the two MCs, you continue to learn more and more about the other housemates and some additional ancillary characters who help uplift the scenes. The added depth to the housemates makes the connection between the reader and this micro-world of Colette’s much stronger and it starts to feel like a TV mini-series rather than just an isolated story.

I fall in love with these characters more and more as I continue my journey through these books.

These housemates are the best and are supportive of each other in the best of ways.
Having met Preston in the previous books, I’m so glad he found a perfect compliment in Theo.

In need of a replacement puppy trainer, Theo gets the housemate he was crushing on to help his puppy side.
The more time they spend together, the closer they inevitably become. When they explore their kinks together, things heat up as well.

This was an adorable read. We have two characters that learn with each other as they explore each other’s kink and form a deeper relationship. The added element of suspense in this plot enhanced the storyline for me.
I liked that this was an overall low angst read with good character communication, passionate encounters and a fresh take on puppy play. Definitely a favourite of the series so far.

Preston and Theo's romance was very sweet, with puppy playtime and lots of cuddles. Theo had such an earnest, lovable energy about him, and it definitely translated while he was a pup. Theo's trainer walking out on him was a bummer, but I'll admit I was more excited to see Preston step up and give it a try, even if it was out of his comfort zone. Their play sessions were so cute and fun, and progressed in parallel to their romantic relationship. I was as excited to see the progress the two of them made with training as I was to read all about the fun dates they went on, and boy did they have some steamy nights as well. The only thing that brought down my mood was the nasty online bullying Theo had to endure, but thankfully it was resolved in a satisfying way.
