A future that cannot be escaped, a tragic death, and a race to uncover the truth...

I love pretty dresses, planning my upcoming marriage to my delectable fiance, and figuring out how I'll become a famous dancer.

Corpses do not feature in those plans.

Unfortunately, my parents, the corpses, and my grave magic have other ideas!

I've inherited a power I never wanted, but it wants me. And when my friend, and servant, is murdered in my home and her corpse returns with a plea for justice, I cannot ignore my power.

How will I balance my dreams with my family's harsh expectations of me becoming a cemetery guardian, my fiance's desire for me to abandon the corpses forever, and the demands of the Magic Council who are investigating (very poorly) my dear friend's murder?

I will not give up on my passions, but how can I make the corpses and my parents understand that?

***

This is Silvaria Digby's origin story. Set in a quaintly historical past in a world not far from the Witch Haven you know and love, where balls, bonnets, and carriages are all the rage. Enjoy spending time with our powerful future cemetery guardian as she tackles difficult home life, shambling bodies, and a murder that's too close to home.

Backstory

I had a really hard time reading this even though I have read and enjoyed the rest of the series. It is set in the past and the language is more formal. The story moved slowly and was predictable.

Good writing

I don't usually leave negative reviews, if a three-star can be considered negative, but I did not like the ending of this book at all. Spoiler alert: it wasn't a happy ending at all, especially since it ended the series.

Book 14 Witch Haven mysteries Silvaria

Great explanation of Silva that's past. It explains how she became who she was in the series and why her life changed so drastically. It does not go quite far enough for an ending with her parents and Aunt.

While I loved the beginning of the book as it went on further into her story and her life I really hated how it ended .

I absolutely loved Silvaria’s backstory. It was very interesting to read her history and realize how she became the cemetery guardian she is today. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Great Story!

I really enjoyed this story even though my heart broke for Silvaria. This whole Series was good, but Silvaria's Story was the one I enjoyed the most!

murder, lies, and mysteries

The origin story is Silvarias heartbreak. A murder of her serving girl leads her down a path of lies and new discoveries. I feel so bad for her.

As much as I saw the ending coming from almost the first page of this story, it was still absolutely heartbreaking to read it through. Great book still!
