There is no telling when love might come along— but it is always when it is most needed. Welcome to Iron Creek!
Here you’ll find everything from peace and quiet, wholesome living, and maybe even a chance at love!
As four lonesome bachelors decide they’ve had enough of the single life, what follows is four breathtaking adventures, as these men set off to find the perfect mail-order brides of their own.
From a quiet, reclusive mountain man who meets a widow desperate to escape her haunted past…
To a blacksmith determined to make his own way in life, who meets an ambitious doctor ready to push her career forward.
A faithful sheriff with a town to protect—who meets a sorrowful orphan and her wily, somewhat interfering grandmother.
And a stagecoach driver drawn to life on the road—who meets a widowed mother, hesitant to open herself up to love again.
From bandits and pandemics to meddling relations and all manner of disasters…
Life out west certainly isn’t easy… and it seems that the road to marriage won’t be any less complicated either.
These husbands are about to learn that there is a big difference between finding a wife—and finding true love.
Iron Creek Brides: Books 1-4 is a collection of heart-warming stories about the mail-order brides of Iron Creek! Will the trials of life in the old west keep these four couples apart? Or will they somehow overcome all odds—and let love prevail?
Karla Gracey was born with a very creative imagination and a love for creating stories that will inspire and warm people's hearts. She has always been attracted to historical romance including mail order bride stories with strong willed women. Her characters are easy to relate to and you feel as if you know them personally. Whether you enjoy action, adventure, romance, mystery, suspense or drama- she makes sure there is something for everyone in her historical romance stories!
The set of books 1-4 based on the mail-order brides ending up in Iron Creek was a good read. Each story is unique, and I found myself enjoying each one. The easy-to-read style and vivid descriptions of the countryside and the characters brought the stories to life.
All four stories had brave brides heading out to the unknown, but their destinies were surprising in each case.
All these enjoyable, clean, historical romances feature strong women who work hard to make a better life for themselves and others.
The Mountain Man’s Mail-Order Surprise: This was probably my favorite in the set. I enjoyed the sweet romance with its realistic portrayal of Garrett Harding struggling with his identity and addictions. The author gives a respectful portrayal of the indigenous peoples’ way of life, including their knowledge of medicine.
…But it was his words about his mother that made Katy sure that he was a good man. Mr. Harding was not afraid of a strong woman. He was proud of his mother, and he appreciated her and wished to emulate her—not some other man. It was as reassuring as it was unusual. Katy could not wait to meet such a man…
The Blacksmith’s Mail-Order Doctor: Yikes! What a mother-in-law! Alec is such a momma’s boy that I would have steered well clear of him, but Dr. Anna sees the best in people.
“No, it is not. No man of our acquaintance would tolerate it. And if a widower is left alone to care for his children, nobody complains if he hires a nanny and continues to work. But woe betide a wife or a widow who wishes to do the same.” “Do you think things will ever change?” “Perhaps,” the elderly doctor said with a sad smile. “But it won’t be in my lifetime. Nor perhaps yours, my boy.”
The Sheriff’s Mail-Order Rescue: This was my least favorite of the four stories in this collection. I felt the characters weren’t as developed as in the other books.
“You were the one who told me to find a husband,” Clara teased. “I know, I know. I wasn’t expecting it to lead us across the length and breadth of the country, though,” Grandmama grumbled.
The Stagecoach Driver’s Mail-Order Family: Like the previous book, this wasn't a favorite - although the twins were cute as can be.
She peered at her reflection in the cloudy cheval glass in the corner. She thought she looked tired. She hadn’t fully considered how exhausting traveling with five-year-old children would be. They seemed to have worked their way through every emotion possible within the span of a single day, every day of the journey. There had been excitement, tantrums, tears, boredom, and joy, and it had been hard to understand precisely what might bring such emotions to life.
Iron Creek Brides Box Set Volume One contains Books #1 – 4 in the Iron Creek Brides Series by Karla Gracey. This is an historical, western romance series with lonely bachelors, mail-order brides, adventure, challenges, sweet scenes, heartwarming moments, drama, and angst. Each book contains its own ‘romance’, following its own couple as they find their HEA. A mountain man, a blacksmith, a sheriff, and a stagecoach driver all have their own mail-order-bride adventures. And as the stories play out, we get to witness life in the ‘old west’. I did find it hard to fully connect with the characters and their stories because the characters inner dialogue/thoughts were quite frustrating at times, and then the stories lagged and dragged in parts making for more frustration. There was also a lot of repetitive information which kept pulling me out of the story in frustration. And while the stories have sweet and heartwarming moments, they are entirely predictable. But if you love Historical Western Romance, and don’t mind a little predictability, then this is definitely the series for you. The Box Set Contains: -The Mountain Man’s Mail-Order Surprise (Book #1) -The Blacksmith’s Mail-Order Doctor (Book #2) The Sheriff’s Mail-Order Rescue (Book #3) The Stagecoach Driver’s Mail-Order Family (Book #4)
I've only read the first book. I just finished it. It is a nice story but I had to go flying past a lot of the dragged out thoughts and nothingness that was in between the actual story. I can't read all those thoughts. Some of them are so immature and repetitive. We all know that basic ending so pages of them worrying over what the other is thinking is boring.
Really enjoyed reading these books. It is hard to think about living in the times that women were considered so inferior because they are not males. They had so many hard ships in after a father or husband had pass away. Just glad thu this all that they found men who love them.
The Iron Creek Brides series is great. The settings, characters, and situations are really interesting, and the action and emotions are engaging and hold your interest for all the stories. I would recommend this series to any reader who enjoys historical romances.
Believable scenarios in all four novels. Enjoyed reading them one after another. Love makes a way. Timely topics, racism, family strife and self doubt are just a few. Well done Karla Gracey.

4 stories about mail-order marriages in Iron Creek, MN, in the 1880s. A charming setting and delightful characters. Christian values but not overly preachy. I was smiling at the end of each story.
Audiobook Version This collection is very enjoyable. The narrator has done an outstanding job with all these interesting characters. I would recommend this collection.
I loved this story the hardships the loss the bigotry it was all good and I loved the love. Great descriptions of the area rocks and lake Superior. Truly a great story
