De gebeurtenissen raken in een stroomversnelling. Duidelijk is alleen dat de Triniteit de wraakzuchtige god Orlac ervan kan weerhouden het rijk te vernietigen. Hij stuurt zijn geestgezel erop uit om te gaan zoeken naar zijn kinderen en de drie geheimzinnige stenen van Ordolt, die de dreiging mogelijk kunnen afwenden. Zelf bijt hij zich vast in het spoor van zijn aartsvijand Goth. Maar Torkyn komt onverwacht op een zijspoor terecht als zijn valk Clout door piraten wordt gevangen en hijzelf tot slaaf wordt gemaakt. Elders, in Tallinor, is Alyssa er nog steeds niet overheen dat haar geliefde Torkyn niet langer tot de levenden behoort, en die wetenschap drijft haar tot wanhoop.

Dit was een hele lange zit, vanaf februari tot en met juni, maar kon me ook niet langer dan 20/30 minuten concentreren op het (audio)boek. Kwam niet van het verhaal zelf, maar door de verteller. Die struikelde regelmatig over woorden, en was soms onduidelijk. Ik had daarom moeite om me echt in te leven in de personages. En dat is jammer want ik begreep van andere reviewers dat het een heel goed verhaal is. Ben dan ook naarstig op zoek naar deze boeken in epub formaat.

Het is duidelijk dat allen de Triniteit kan helpen het land te redden, maar Thor weet helemaal niet wat dat inhoudt. Hij moet op zoek gaan naar deze Triniteit. Als zijn valk gevangen wordt genomen, komt de zoektocht in problemen.  Thor gaat eerst op zoek naar de valk, die een getransformeerde 'paladijn' is, maar komt daardoor in de handen van een bende slavenhalers. 

Alyssa is nog steeds in de waan dat haar geliefde dood is. Uiteindelijk vindt zij nieuw geluk bij de Koning, nadat zijn vrouw was overleden.

The story continues and more characters are brought in and Fiona does a great job of story telling that captured me and kept me picking up the book. Loved it!

See my review of Book 1 in this series, (Betrayal), for why I liked it so much. Revenge is of course, written in the same engaging and entertaining style, but I enjoyed it even more. With the story of Betrayal relatively fresh in my mind, it was great to get reacquainted with the terrific cast of characters- it was like a reunion. So now, I'll have to get my hands on book 3. What else can I say, that I wanted to read Revenge and now want even more to read the conclusion to this wonderful fantasy trilogy, I think says it all.

Continuation of the story. A sense of urgency builds up in this book - to find the Trinity before Orlec escapes. Tor tries to think of the task ahead and not Alyssa who he can’t be with. Alyssa moves on slowly from Tor’s death not knowing he and her children live. But they are all tied together and slowly the family reemerges. We find out who the Trinity is at the last moment with the promise of a battle ahead but also hope. Looking forward to book 3.

I felt like this book was mostly unnecessary, it just seemed to stretch the series without adding much. And I found there was an emphasis on outward beauty and how it was irresistible. Tor seemed to be drawn to sleep with beautiful women even though he is still married to Alyssa.
The story did pick up in the second half with the introduction of the children Gidyon & Lauryn. I am keen to see how it is all resolved.

Nadal jest średnio, a czasem wręcz słabo. Główni bohaterowie prości niczym konstrukcja cepa. Poboczne postacie nawet nie próbują się wyróżnić poza jakąś jedna cecha. Nie odpuszczam jednak!

Nadat ik deel 1 in de trilogie had gelezen, wilde ik natuurlijk meteen deel 2 ook lezen. En dat heb ik inmiddels gedaan. Deel 2 is net zo spannend, zo mogelijk nog spannender dan deel 1. Inmiddels is duidelijk dat alleen de triniteit het land Tallinor nog kan redden van de ondergang. De held Tor weet eigenlijk helemaal niet wat dat precies inhoudt. Hij is uit de dood herrezen en moet nu op zoek gaan naar die bewuste triniteit. Dit moet hij doen zonder zijn geliefde Alyssa. Zij is nog steeds in de waan dat Tor dood is. Hierdoor vindt zij ook opnieuw geluk bij koning Lorys.
De zoektocht die Tor moet volbrengen komt letterlijk in zwaar weer terecht als zijn valk gevangen wordt genomen. Hij gaat hem achterna, maar beland hierdoor op een slavenschip en dan is het afwachten of Tor ooit nog terug kan om zijn queeste te vervullen.

Het is officieel ik heb er een nieuwe favoriete fantasy schrijfster bij. Dit boek is weer ontzettend spannend. Het verhaal wordt goed uit gediept en ook de personage gaan echt leven. Het zijn wel wat veel personages maar het verhaal is zodanig geschreven dat ook alles duidelijk wordt uitgelegd zonder dat het saai wordt. Het is echt een aanrader voor de fantasy liefhebber.

This is the second volume in the Trinity trilogy (after Betrayal and before Destiny).

Alyssa and Tor are parted again. After escaping death by a clever magic trick and convalescing in the Great Forest, Tor sets out to hunt down Goth, but is soon sidetracked when his falcon Clot is stolen by pirates in Caradoon to be sold to the Queen of the island of Cipres.

In Tal, Alyssa has now spent several years in the castle, working as a healer, believing the love of her life is dead, and blaming King Lorys for his heartless justice. But when Queen Nyria, her friend, ask her to forgive her husband, she actually finds it easier than expected, and even falls in love with the monarch.

All the while, both know their destiny is to reunite the Trinity in order to defeat their real enemy, the angry Prince of the Gods Orlac, who wants to destroy Tallinor. They get help from several of their friends and companions, who turn out to be magical beings called the Paladin.

I found this second volume slightly inferior to the first one. The sidetrip to Cipres is mostly filler material, and I failed to be captivated by the what is emerging as the main plotline now. And Goth escapes death so many times it’s ridiculous. Will you kill the wretch already?

This is not the strongest of fiona McIntosh work. Likely because (it is my understanding) that this is her very early work, if not her first series. I enjoyed learning more about the plot and characters and what made them tick. It frustrates me how Goth keeps escaping death. And why is he so evil in the first place? I find his motives lacking. The biggest disappointment for me was how little Sallementro is in the novel. He is in the prologue of the first book and he seems to be important yet he is rarely in the second book. I understand why he isn't in the first, it is the telling of before his time. But I feel like I know pretty much all the other paladin except for him. It's an ok read and I'm certainly going to read the third book, but I did find it a little bit lacking.

I've read many books over the years, but none was just as captivating as this one. Revenge is an amazing continuation of the story created by Betrayal, and even still keeps you holding on for more.

There were many times that important characters NEARLY met each other, but missed each other by moments and had to meet later in the book. It kept me captivated, ensuring I heard the end of each path that each character took.

Not going to lie, I skim read lots of this. The writing has not improved from the first-book-struggles that were evident in Betrayal; in fact, I think the writing is marginally worse, and I just can't be bothered with it. It certainly doesn't help that I tend to read 2-3 books at a time, and I am currently reading Anthony Doerr's book, All the Light We Cannot See - which is (so far...) a hauntingly beautiful and far more compelling read.

Revenge is the second book in the trinity series and is a 500-600 page book just like the first one. In this book You get to learn more about Tor and the truth and you continue to see his great sorrow. The book really potrays his great love for Alyessa and continues to have mistrey and intrugue and keep the two of them apart.

Wow wow wow!!! Fiona never fails to impress. This is her 1st trilogy and having read all the others this one is just as good. She takes you so deep into the world of the characters, sleep becomes a thing of the past as you hungerly devour each page and cannot get enough. Just started Destiny(bk3) and I know it will live up to this brilliant read

The second book of this series has the same issues as the first.
Clunky use of language, a bit too perfect and lucky main characters, the antagonist are wicked and evil just for the sake of being wicked and evil and I don't know. I am going to read the third book, mainly because I've come this far and am still a bit interested.

Not as good as the first chapter, but rather kept me reading in the dark hours of August. The writing was entertaining once again, but the characters and storyline seemed to drag by the end of it. I do like the structures and creatures of her world, and will want to hear the end of it.
